Jade sat in the bus home going over the events of the day. Her thoughts came back to the fight and what she did to the flower.

She somehow made it grow really fast. So far so good, her fake Concept showed as growth. This could only mean that her true Concept, Genesis, had something to do with growth as well.

But it must be distinct from just pure growth as well. She knew that concepts can be applied in all kinds of manners. She once heard of a balance cultivator who could use his concept to balance his relationships. Apparently, he made it so that his multiple girlfriends never met each other by balancing his Schedule with his concept.

So first off what does Genesis mean and more specifically what does it mean to me? As far she could remember it meant something like origin or creation. This means she controlled the energy of origin or creation? That sounded amazing and terrifying all the same.

Jade went over it again, what did she know and what did her status tell her?

Extraction

Extract Genesis Energy from anything you touch adding it to your genesis pool. This cannot increase your GE pool above its maximum. Extracting GE from a living organism causes damage based on your [Mind].

Usually, a cultivator only had hit points stamina and mana, but she also had Genesis Energy. Her skills told her that she was creating this other energy with her soul. Almost every concept runs on mana. Cultivators gather mana from the atmosphere and channel it into their bodies.

Most gathered it at their dantian, slowly accumulating more and more mana. There were special techniques and meditation steps to increase the efficiency of cultivating mana. Some of them even shaped the way your concept works in a certain direction.

The best example for this would be the combat cultivators of the sects or military. There were weapon cultivators that specialized in using their concept through a specific weapon, like swords. Others focused on more mystical or exotic means. Jade heard there was a cultivator in the emperor’s army that uses her happy concept through a zither to inspire the troops.

Jade’s Genesis Energy was obviously something different, which means it must be a totally distinct energy from mana. This alone was a monumental discovery. A new type of energy could revolutionize the empire. The last time this happened was when the first emperor of the Lotus Dynasty created the crystal system that every citizen of the empire uses to this day.

At the age of twelve every citizen will receive their very own status crystal. A small blue crystal that will meld with the child’s mana. Over the course of the next six years, it will slowly grow with the child until its full function will be available to them with their awakening.

The crystal system is meant to be a tool for improving your cultivation and streamlining mana’s process of altering the body, mind, and soul of the cultivator. Additionally, it allows a small percentage of a slain enemy’s mana to be integrated into its user.

Sometimes with excess mana the system creates skills that are fixed mana circulation paths that allow the execution of special action. The system extrapolates these form the vast amount of data it has collected over the last two millennia. The cultivators’ behaviors and tendencies typically shape the form of the skill.

In Jade’s case she was awarded three skills on her awakening. Most likely this was because of her awakening stone. It is an open secret that the main families of the sects have ways of creating awakening stones with certain preset skills. Since her skills were so specific to her concept she figured whoever put the stone in her crib knew what concept she would awaken.

Reading over her active skills again Jade made note of some very important details. First, her skills did not specify that the target of infusion or extraction must be a plant or any living thing at all. Only extraction stated that living organisms will take damage through the process.

Second her infusion spell talks about natural development. This in itself is not so shocking since her mother could do this with plants as well. It was the main feature of the growth concept. What worried Jade was the speed at which she made that flower grow. It was too fast. Her mother needed several days for a similar result. To be fair her mother was only a low-level Tier 2 Cultivator which means she has only very limited influence over the world.

Some of this could be explained by her high potential. But not all. It was certainly very powerful, but it seems that the natural generation of her GE was very slow. Since she used 99 GE on the peony in the plaza, she had only recovered 1 point of GE. In Jades opinion GE was not meant to replace Mana. Maybe it was a natural consequence of her concept. She would definitely try to experiment with mana as well.

After all she would have to go through her first real cultivation session soon. Since she did not have a formal teacher, a family member would take her through it. In her case her only family member was her mother.

The bus came to the last stop. It was still a small walk away from her apartment but it would not take too long. Jade stepped out of the bus into the early evening. She still needed to decide where to put the points from her first level up. But she would wait until she did some testing with her mana.
