Volume 3 - Chapter 15: Emotions... [Part one]

Right before Toru and Souma were about to return to the Demon Realm, they talked for a bit within the void…

“Toru...we’re going to be fighting those people when we return.”

“Yes Brother...It’s been 5 months since we started...this so called “exercise” is interesting. Since you first taught me the simple routine...my body mass increased and now I have a more balanced body and I can control my strength now..”

“Toru...I’ve been sensing something that happened outside the void...I can’t clearly pinpoint what it is because my psychic abilities aren’t as good as yours...I know you know what is going on...I feel uneasy…”

“Brother..I did this for you...but since our training is done...the thing is..the entire capital has been under attack since we departed to the void…Galrius and his army attacked...they lied about the paper report….”

“.....”

It was silent after a while and Souma glared at Toru..

“SO, WE’VE BEEN HERE TRAINING AND DOING ALL THIS STUFF AND MARAN WAS ATTACKED BY GALRIUS!? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS FEELS LIKE!? I DON’T KNOW IF MY FAMILY IS ALIVE OR NOT! TORU! WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME THIS!?”

“Because brother...I knew that you would’ve returned...that is the reason why…”

“AHHH! REALLY!!!!”

Souma clutched his katana blades and was about to go in a rampage but he didn’t…

“Brother…” Toru looked at Souma as he was grief-stricken..

“Brother...don’t worry...those girls are fine...Voltros city is being protected by the Demon Enchantress…”

“Really!?”

Souma shook Toru repeatedly to confirm the city’s safety.

“Thank Kami-sama...as long as they’re safe...Toru...we need to return back...we need to save everyone before things get out of hand..--”

“Wait brother...we need test our strength...let’s use our strongest combination with only our hands, no weapons...I want to confirm if we really got stronger…”

“Alright Toru...you sure about this? Remember the times we sparred...I went easy on you as I taught you several techniques…”

“Brother...just worry about yourself...I know you achieved something new...remember last month...you achieved a new form...I want to challenge you in that form…”

“Alright…”

Souma placed his Katana/sayas on the floor and began to generate a martial pressure force between him and Toru. The area around Souma began to crackle as the particles in the void were being frictioned by Souma’s pressure. Souma activated his new form that he achieved...

‘Martial Force’

The ‘Martial Force’ form was Souma’s ultimate combatant form. It evolved from Martial Winds and created the Martial Force. The form allows Souma to enter a combat state and It allowed Souma to use his abilities without wasting useless energy. While in Martial Force, Souma can control his body perfectly and able to use his combat ability to his fullest. It also generates a magic repulsive barrier around his entire body. The barrier has the ability to negate magical attacks and effects that consume mana. It will nullify anything magical that targets Souma unless the person is stronger than Souma’s magical ability. In exchange, Souma cannot use his magical ability without unlocking the hidden form combination of Martial Force and Magus Form,

While the Martial Force form is complete, his hand-to-hand combat is as strong as his combat skills. Which means that if Souma knows only a few techniques, then his Martial Force will only utilize those few techniques but it will continue to grow if Souma learns more combat skills.

Toru immediately dashed at Souma while he was busy activating his form. The air crackled from Toru’s swift movement and aimed his fist while yelling out his combat skill…

“GIGA FISTTTT!!!” Toru yelled as his fist was radiating an unnatural glow as it rippled through the air. Souma was dumbfounded and said…

“Really! why would you say the name of your skil--”

Before Souma could finish talking, Toru’s fist immediately connected and Souma’s face was smashed by the force of Toru’s strength. Toru wasn’t holding back and released his full strength on Souma. Souma was flung backwards from the impact but he managed to catch himself before skidding away from the powerful blow.

Souma’s face was disfigured from the punch that connected but there was no blood appearing from his face. Lucky for Souma, the void will allow a person to exert any amount of force without killing the person.

Souma grinned as he cracked his neck and smacked his face back together. He snapped his nose back into place and looked at Toru..

“Oho. You attacked me before I finished my sentence... I am going to get payback now!”

“Haha! Brother, you are careles---”

Before Toru even reached mid-sentence, Souma reappeared in front of Toru and punched his stomach/solar plexus. He quickly delivered a swift punch but the unique thing about the punch was the effect.

As Souma’s fist came into contact with Toru’s stomach, the area of contact rippled as the center and his body received a focal point attack. It concentrated at the stomach and sent Toru flying before he could retort.

While Toru’s body was in mid-air, Souma’s punch was still in effect and continued to propel Toru backwards in the air. Toru’s body continued to fly but luckily, his levitation abilities stopped him in flight..

“Wha...what was that brother...I felt like your punch was a concentrated attack of multiple punches...but I saw you punch once…and my body received an abnormal state...my abilities were locked for 15 seconds...the status was called ‘Ability Stunned’..was that from you?” Toru was speaking while slowly descending to where Souma was.

“Ah, yes and no. It looked as if I punched once, but actually I punched multiple times...actually I punched 14 times in that same area...just really fast and at a single focal point...this ability was created with Martial Force….I also have another combat ability...it will seem as if I attacked multiple times but in reality, I will only attack once...the skill I used against you was called the Focal Strike skill along with my speed…normally you would’ve been able to see the punches but with my combat speed that I trained during these 5 months, I can accelerate my speed in short bursts. Also, since I mastered this skill, it generates an abnormal status on the object/person I use it on…

I still need to train more so my body can continue to grow so I can access 100% of my power...I can only bring out 20% of the potential that I have…”

“Brother...you are ridiculous...but I can tell that it wasn’t your strongest attack…” Toru questioned Souma’s zenith of strength…

“Yeah...the other combat skill is much stronger...not only it makes the opponent seem like I attacked that person multiple times but my strength is applied ten-fold. I call it the Mugen Punch…” Souma explained that his other combat skill was much stronger…

“Yeah brother, I thought so...I know your magic is your strongest suit too brother...my psychic ability is my strongest too...but we decided not to use special abilities...anyways..let’s go...I sense that people are getting frantic as Galrius and his army is attacking…”

“Alright...I hope everyone’s safe...but I really can’t wait to use this new ability I learned...do you know the possibilities of Repulsion and Attraction force...I will show you its capabilities in battle….let’s go…”

It allows Souma to enter a combat state and bring out the combat potential from Souma’s skills. While in Martial Force, Souma will generate a fighting aura that will also act as a Magic-negating barrier. The barrier will nullify all magical attacks that are weaker than Souma’s magical ability. Only opponents that are stronger magically, will be able to penetrate the barrier. The barrier will negate all magical attacks at the cost of not being able to cast any magic unless the User unlocks the Hidden form between Martial Force and the Magus Form.

Skill Name:Skill Rank:Skill Level:Skill Experience:Focal StrikeMaster------The single pinpoint skill. The user will be able to send out strikes while striking the same point of penetration. This allows for increased damage over time and generates a critical strike effect from every blow depending on the accuracy. Due to Mastered rank, the Focal strike skill will generate critical strikes no matter where the point of execution is. With Mastered, the skill will generate abnormal state effects that depends on the area where the strike came into contact.

It creates the illusion of being attacked from multiple sides while delivering a single strike that combines the strength of those endless punches into one single punch. As more illusion punches are being generated, the single punch will multiply in strength. The illusion effect gets stronger as the rank rises.

The user creates a gravity field that sends a repulsive shockwave while the user is the epicenter. The repulsion force will crush anything that is too close to the barrier field. The skill also allows Souma to nullify gravity within the area of expansion for 10 seconds.

Skill Name:Skill Rank:Skill Level:Skill Experience:Attraction Force---------Generated from Gravity Affinity. The skill to attract anything. The user creates an attraction field that pulls anything within the area of expansion towards the user at the epicenter. The Attraction Force will forcefully pull anything within the expansion area and those that are too close to the user will fly in the air as the attraction force being generated is too strong.

Souma and Toru returned back to the Demon Realm.

In Voruto’s inn, the six generals were freaking out because of Souma and Toru’s bodies being engulfed in a blinding light. The entire inn lit up and Souma and Toru’s bodies returned back to normal and they’ve successfully returned.

Souma was receiving information as his trained psychic abilities were reading the minds of the six figures that appeared in front of Souma and immediately knew what to do…

“You six...I read your minds...I know the gist of everything now...I want you guys to stay hidden...Me and Toru are going to go confront those people...you will not engage with any of the enemies...I want to make sure that you guys don’t reveal yourselves while they might have a hidden hand in everything...Galrius is strong so I really doubt that he’s stupid enough to go after me without a backup plan…and also...where is this 7th general...is he here?”

The 1st general was astonished but he answered politely for Souma…

“Leader, the 7th General...as you may have already read our minds about this issue, we do not know if he or she even exists. Only you, the Demon King, our commander, knows the truth…”

Souma was bewildered. Indeed, he knew that none of the six generals knew about the 7th general only he knew...but he doesn’t know…

Then he spoke..

Souma EX: Ah, him. Yes, Souma, ‘you’ know her. Well, I do but I am you in a sense...she is the shadow general...one that bathes in darkness and assassinates your foes before they actually become foes...Normally, this situation would not be happening but even the 7th General wouldn’t dare go against the 8th apostle without knowing her safety…

Souma: Wait what...so its a her? she exists and eliminates my enemies...is that why no one actually caught me in the Demon Capital, Maran?

Souma EX: Yes. After these generals awakened, the 7th one has always been protecting you, Souma. You may not know your enemies but she does. She has already killed 14 demons that were already strong. Some of them were even noble demons that resided in Voltros. You may think that everything was safe...but from what I saw through your eyes, there were many times that the demon race could’ve attacked you. Of course, you would’ve defended and killed them yourself but there is a reason why the 7th General is called Shadow. She watches over you, preventing anyone from attacking you.

Souma: Wow...even after training for 5 months...I still find the need to train more and more...luckily, I can sense people now after raising my psychic abilities and while manipulating my mana, I can also sense the mana flow of other people...But...I still need to train more…

Souma EX: Kakaka! Even now, you are still weak. You are the Demon King, you will have to be strong to maintain that status! Besides, how will you protect your family…

Souma: I see...Hey...lately, you’ve been soft these days...ever since Toru and I entered the void, you’ve been talking to me more and less on the insults...are you coming onto me…

Souma EX: Hah! You want me to insult your pitiful self? Just be glad that I am even considering to talk to you!

Souma: Whatever!

Souma’s thoughts faded away and Ojii-chan began to talk…

Ojii-chan: I see...you are going to be leaving...although your conscience will always be within Souma as he uses the Demon King form to its fullest, you as an existence, will disappear…

Souma EX: Yeah...Even now...his naive self is rubbing onto me...He is a demon king yet he fears the concept of killing….Souma is very weird...I think I will miss being able to talk to him...even though he is basically going to become me...I want him to continue to grow…

Ojii-chan: Indeed. Souma still thinks that killing is wrong and thinks about these words of justice...but Killing people and taking another life is simply the cycle of life...he will understand in the future...it will be hard on him when you disappear, even if you picked on him...but he needs to grow on his own...we cannot be there for him all the time…

Souma EX: Kakaka...well, the boy surely has grown...just recently, he became the Demon King...and he found out so much about his power within a short amount of time...when are you going to tell him about ‘that’?

Ojii-chan: Time will come....

…

Souma looked at Toru and telepathically told him about what they are going to do next…

...

Souma: Toru, go and find the source of those people that are attacking Voltros…

Toru: Brother...I will...but on one condition...you cannot intervene until later. You have to promise me, no matter what. Under no circumstances, you will not interject until I am done…

Souma: Wait what...what is going on Toru...what are you going to do…

Toru: Brother, promise me. I know you hate the fact of breaking a promise so you will promise me now before we head out…

Souma: Alright alright...I promise...Just what are you going to do…

Toru: Just wait and see...Let’s go...I think I found your 7th General. That person seems to know that we’re here and she’s such a strange one...her mind is clouded in darkness...but it isn’t evil...I think...your little general is shy…

Souma: Wait what...why the hell is she shy…

Toru: I don’t know...maybe you should ask ;D

...

Toru smirked and Souma had a confused expression on his face…

The two immediately vanished and teleported to the 7th general’s location which was high above the city, right above the clouds. Souma was following Toru’s energy as he teleported behind him. As they reached above the clouds, Souma expanded his wings and began to use his Flight ability.

It felt surreal as four limbs grew on his back. The wings flapped cautiously yet so naturally as the wind currents flew in between the feathers. Souma was gradually keeping up his body as his wings flapped slowly to maintain his position in the air. Toru was levitating as he watched Souma create his wings and began to fly.

Souma was feeling excited as this was the second time he experienced flight. The first time wasn’t so pleasant but now he felt a bit more natural in flight.

Souma gradually flapped his wings and shifted his body forward and began to propel himself using his wings. He was beginning to train his flight ability while Toru levitated in mid air and another figure floated above a shadow cloud right beside Toru.

Souma flew in circles, figure eights, upside down and every single possible motion of flight. He felt free as he continued to fly in the air. He couldn’t fly at incredible speeds like Rai, but he was having fun to point that he almost forgot why he came to this area with Toru. Souma flew immediately beside Toru and spoke…

“Toru..sorry about that...it was my second time flying...anyways, I am guessing that this person is my 7th general...before we do anything, Toru...tell me what you are going to do…”

“Brother...I am going to do something. Just believe me. You cannot interfere with whatever is going to happen soon….”

“Alright...alright...I need to use my psychic abilities to figure something out...just stay here and watch everything from below..”

“Okay then…Ah, before anything, Hello, you are the 7th general...I do not know your name but my name is Souma...you probably already know me since you’ve been following me since I became the Demon King and you and the generals awakened…”

Souma spoke towards the shadow figure that floated above. Her appearance was completely shrouded in a dark mist and Souma could not see her actual appearance but there was a body figure. The shrouded-in-darkness general looked at Souma and spoke one word…

“.....Duana…”

The shadowed figure looked at Souma and immediately looked away from his gaze..

‘Shy huh...well..I’ll try to get her to open up...along with the other generals...it seems like they are going to be with me for a while...’

“Oh, is that your name? Duana, I see. Well, nice to meet you.”

“.....”

Silence was her response and Souma didn’t continue to pester the shy person.

Souma looked below and he could sense a massive army at the outskirts of Voltros. While looking, Toru manipulated Souma’s senses using his psychic abilities. Only he, a master of ESPer abilities can manipulate a person’s senses without them realizing it. He only altered Souma’s sight to deviate Souma’s attention from the 5 figures above Voltros-city.

Souma watched the massive army launch a barrage of spells. The barrier that surrounded Voltros was successfully repelling the multitude of spells and many of the warriors brandished their weapons and began using their combat skills at the barrier entrance. Souma immediately recognized the barrier as it was the same barrier that Et’rie used on him.

He smiled because the army could not penetrate the barrier but that smile immediately faded away as he sensed that the barrier was getting weaker. Souma wanted to go down below to help but he couldn’t break his promise. He decided to endure the wait and continued to observe.

The armies continued their relentless attack and the barrier was showing signs of damage. Portions of the barrier were scorched and the many warriors attacked but still the barrier held strong.

Souma focused particularly on the main section of Voltros and saw the figures he recognized. One by one, they lined up in succession and Souma wanted to go down to help but he had to endure. Souma saw Yurika, Eriko, Erika, Serina, Neiru, Alina, Et’rie and Lenia in the same area. He noticed that Lenia was flying in her succubus form and he had a sudden ‘urge’ but he shook those carnal feelings away as they were getting ready to fight. Souma also noticed that Flora was nowhere in sight, he wondered where the woman was but he could not see her...maybe she’s somewhere. Souma decided to let it go and he continued to observe the women. He wanted to help but he could not break that promise. He continued to watch as the barrier was slowly trickling down in strength.

All of a sudden, a dark surge of power was felt on the top of Voltros city. Souma immediately looked at the area but there was absolutely nothing there. He felt weird as the area above Voltros city was a bit shifty and a thunderous voice could be heard but then he saw the barrier collapse. Souma averted his attention to the entrance of Voltros and saw the girls heading out into combat.

The army of enemies split into 4 units as they were being shifted towards into four directions to attack the city.

On the far left, Souma saw Lenia in flight while Serina rushed forward. The unit of enemies charged directly and they began to fight. Souma could see Lenia’s body radiating a red aura and she slashed repeatedly at the soldiers. As she slashed, the bodies were being seared by baneful aura as it burned upon contact. Her attacks were causing the soldiers to flinch in terror as a sultry woman was burning people alive as she attacked. Her claws were longer as they reached out to slash the enemies.

Lenia continued to fly above the enemies, attacking people in a straight line as she flew but Serina followed in suit. Her body was engulfed in a dark aura that radiates death around her. As she followed Lenia’s flight line, the soldiers were having their life force drained by Serina’s vampiric powers. She bared her fangs and began to use her blood magic to control her enemies. Serina and Lenia were powerful but the enemy force was greater than them.

Souma smiled as the two women he loved were quite the monsters but then...the magic group of the unit began to unleash a torrent of magical spells. While Lenia was in flight, she was caught by a magic spell which burnt part of her wings and body and she fell onto the ground. The soldiers began to retaliate and gradually, Lenia continued her attack but she was on the ground and gradually being pushed back. Serina was struck by holy magic that burned up her dark aura. The two were being pushed back as they received magic and melee damage from all sides.

Souma had a grim expression and he continued to look at the others…

Next to Lenia and Serina’s group, there was Yurika and Et’rie that dished out the magical attacks. Yurika unleashed a barrage of magical spells. Majority of them were high advanced spells that killed off portions of the army but they continued to fight. Et’rie used her enchantress abilities to create abnormal effects on the army but her power was drained after keeping her barrier up constantly for 5 days. Yurika was basically protecting Et’rie while she was drained of her power. Eventually, Yurika and Et’rie were surrounded and Yurika erected a magical barrier to prevent any solid attacks from breaching but she can only do so much before they are killed..

Souma grimaced at the situation as he was clutching his fist and he bit his lip to the point where it was bleeding from his mouth. He wanted to go but Toru stopped him.

Toru sensed the turmoil that occurred in Souma’s mind but he had to stop him.

Toru was currently using his psychic abilities to encroach Galrius and four generals from the inside. Toru was scanning the figures that were above Voltros city and they were engaging on another succubus that Souma knew.

Toru finally achieved what he wanted and basically sealed a portion of Galrius and his general’s powers using his psychic abilities.

The dark sphere that engulfed the succubus was now released and Galrius and his generals were stunned as they stood in place.

Souma watched as the girls he knew were being hurt.

He watched as Neiru and Alina unleashed a barrage of attacks onto the army unit. They broke bones as they struck, Neiru even shattered one of the soldier’s head and brain mush splattered on the battlefield. Those two were mercenaries and they knew what a battle entitles.

Neiru and Alina attacked but they were overwhelmed by the amount of soldiers. They continued to fight but all they received were attacks from all sides. Their bodies were bloody from the constant attacks of the soldiers and a portion of Alina’s body was scarred black. Apparently, she received a magical burst from one of the magicians that died and the magician basically self-destructed.

They were surrounded and eventually, they were pushed back.

Souma was teary-eyed as he could not go down to help. Duana simply watched her commander from afar but she was still too shy to say anything.

On the far right, Eriko and Erika were wounded heavily. They were bleeding and their weapons were broken. The two girls were gradually backing up as they were completely surrounded.

Souma wanted to help but he could not go yet…

Eventually, the girls were being pushed back and they arrived in a circular formation where they were surrounded on all sides.

Souma wanted to help and he yelled at Toru…

“TORU!! WHY!! WHY CAN’T I GO! LET ME GO!! I NEED TO GO NOW!!!!”

Toru looked at Souma and he saw his eyes were bloodshot in rage and sadness. Toru had finished his business with Galrius and finally released his psychic sense lock on Souma and spoke..

“Alright...let’s go...those guys won’t do anything for a bit...go and get that woman that is heavily injured…”

Souma didn’t reply and immediately teleported to Flora.

At first, Souma thought it was weird that he could not find Flora but now he felt her energy. It was weak and nearly drained. Souma released his killing intent towards Toru for making him wait this long but he had to recover Flora’s body. Her body was weak and full of gashes and deep cuts. She was barely breathing and Souma recovered her body. Toru was about to do something to the five people that were there but Souma dragged him and he activated his lightning magic and traveled to the center where the girls were located at.

From Souma’s lightning burst, the wind current drastically changed and the two of them smashed onto the ground as a lightning bolt.

The ground shook as Toru and Souma entered the fray and Souma wanted to kill everyone but he had to save Flora first. Lucky for him, he had mastered Lightning magic and he can travel as a lightning stream.

Toru brandished his demonic spear and looked at the army that surrounded them. Telepathically, he could tell that Souma was beyond anger so he did not attempt to attack first. As Toru looked at the army, the soldiers were stunned from the lightning bolt as it traveled through and Souma began to heal the woman that was in his arms.

‘Nature Magic!’

His body began to radiate a green aura and Flora’s wounds began to heal. She was unconscious but Flora was still alive.

Souma turned around and spoke…

“I’m sorry I arrived late you girls...I will punish these people for hurting my family..”

The girls were teary-eyed and tears began to mix with the blood on their bodies.

Souma handed Flora to Lenia and told them to keep her safe.

They were happy that Souma returned and almost immediately...the girls felt an incredible force emit from Souma’s body.

Souma clasped his hands in a single movement and created his repulsion force. With his body as the epicenter, everyone was sent flying except for Toru and the rest of the girls. The bodies scattered in mid-air and many of the soldiers that were nearby Souma had completely disintegrated into piles of blood and mush. The soldiers were flying and the army went from 4,000 strong men to a measly weak 500.

Many of the soldiers were killed from the frontal contact of Souma’s repulsion force and many died while they landed on the floor after being flown so high in the air.

The bodies were countless in blood and Souma looked at the terrain while the remaining 500 men were scared into submission.

His voice thundered in the area…

“So...where’s the bastard that dared to hurt my family!”

His voice echoed and eventually the five figures from above Voltros snapped out of Toru’s psychic control. Galrius was enraged that a petty ESPer confined his body from moving and immediately flew towards where Souma and Toru were at.

*Boooom! Booom! Booom! Boooom! Boooom!

The ground shook as the five figures near Souma. There were obvious crater formations as they were formed from the impacts.

Galrius emerged first and behind him, his four generals appeared.

Galrius was the first to speak…

“Aha! The Demon King finally enters the scene...do you know how long it took to find you...5 days of constant murder and pillaging...well it seemed like the Maran Kingdom deserved a little redecoration, eh? You know what...I am going to enjoy my time killing you---”

Before Galrius could even finish his sentence, almost immediately Toru had already killed off the 4 generals that were behind Galrius. Galrius didn’t notice but Toru had already trapped the four generals using his psychic abilities and all he had to do was to finish the job with his demon spear.

Toru was behind Galrius and he turned around to see his generals immediately beheaded. He was about to attack but then he received a chilling spike as Souma’s killing intent was rising off the roof.

Galirus looked at Souma and began to radiate a golden hue of colors and surrounded himself and Souma in a magical barrier.

“Haha, look at you now, Demon King...your little friend over there will not help you...they cannot break this barrier and I will be finishing you off myself!”

Galrius continued to talk but Souma continued to walk towards him. His aura was changing to a dark color and Souma’s appearance was changing. His eyes were red in fury and he continued to glare at Galrius.

Galrius began to radiate and his body was wrapped in a golden aura and eventually the two auras clashed in contrast to each other.

Souma’s aura was dark and finally he changed into his Demon King form. He wanted to break Galrius but not kill him. He was feeling mixed emotions while in his Demon King form. He wanted to kill so bad but even the realization of death is still unknown to him after now. Even as he used his Repulsion force, Souma did not feel anything as his mind was clouded in rage. But, as he is in his Demon King form, he is feeling various emotions of killing and letting him live.

His calm mind was not helping him in his Demon King form and he was being inflicted by the emotional disparity as he felt rage and sadness.

Galrius eyed Souma’s Demon King form and immediately began to attack…

The two clashed repeatedly as their auras were in complete contrast of each other...
