Volume 3 - Chapter 1: Godly powers, Limiters and stupid bandits

Since the birth of the planet, Oryon, there existed a race that lived in harmony with nature. The race naturally came to birth due to Mother Nature. Nature was the creator of these beings and alongside Mother Nature, was an entity called the Nature King. The Nature King was a soul that had no body. A soul that had absolute authority, the same as Mother Nature. Since ancient times, these nature beings lived in harmony while praising both Mother Nature and the Nature King. They shaped the planet to be filled with luscious greenery with nature’s animals roaming in peace. The Nature beings lived together with nature, intertwining their lives with the surrounding and their appearance matching the earthly soil. As several centuries passed, these beings long served Mother Nature and the protected Nature. As time passed, these beings roamed the planet, Oryon, long before its inhabitants started to show up.

Mother Nature showered her blessings onto the planet, keeping everything calm and peaceful, with everything in balance but that peace was all too short. Beings of all shapes and sizes began to manifest and join the planet. Humanoid beings of common sizes, many of which, looked the same but were very different, started to live on the planet. Next, were the Magical Beasts that roamed the planet yet lived far away from any being as opposed to the humanoids. At first, Mother nature and her children welcomed the new beings that came about. They simply guided them to their homes and eventually the humanoids started their own settlement. The nature beings slowly began to teach the humanoids about harmonizing with nature and at first it worked. They all lived together peacefully but the one thing that Mother Nature and her children underestimated, was the Humanoids and their individual thoughts.

Their underestimation of the humanoids would cost them their homes and eventually their creator Mother Nature. At first, Mother nature did not mind their individuality as it posed no threat, until greed came to light. Greed was the one thing that Nature never understood. Why must people crave more than what they already have, it was a question that Mother Nature herself wondered as every Nature Being lived in harmony. The humanoids began to experiment and conduct new ways to satisfy their greed. Mother Nature did not understand the ingenuity that was being displayed from the Humanoids. The Humanoids began to expand their settlement as their population grew. The increase on territory was of no threat, until the humanoids began to destroy nature as a reason of expansion and diversity.

The Nature beings finally issued an order for a consultation meeting to discuss the Humanoids and their barbaric actions. The meeting went null as the nature beings protested in the contemptuous actions of the humanoids but the humanoids responded. “We’re sorry but there’s just too much of “Nature”. Don’t worry about the small details and we won’t use too much. Of course, Mother Nature protested but it would do no better to fight. They decided to trust the humanoids once more and retreated back into Nature. However, the humanoids were just beginning. They weren’t going to stop, they simply shall expand through force and they will.

The humanoids began to conduct new experiments and developed new items out of the use of Nature. Their ingenuity gradually expanded as new options came to light. The humanoids continued over the years, constructing and building while Mother Nature grew weary due to the misuse of Nature. Those items soon turned into new weaponry that enabled the humanoids to forcefully expand. Thus began the first official war since the creation of the planet. This war is known through ancient texts as the “Humanus vin Octul nil Naturie”. The Humanoids waged war on the Nature beings to forcefully expand their territories. They launched an all-out attack against the beings that lived within nature and Mother Nature gradually grew weaker. The Nature beings were heavily affected by the weaponry that was used by the Humanoids.

Those weapons constructed out of Nature, created a severe weakness to the Nature Beings. The humanoids were pretty clever and discovered Nature’s weakness to be its own. They began to retreat further and the humanoids continued to push forward, driving the Nature beings out. The Nature beings were distraught and under heavy stress as the humanoids, the beings they once trusted, is now attacking them. Nature began to shrink and the beings began to grieve under the circumstances that were happening until Mother Nature spoke to them. “My Children, do not fret as salvation is of the utmost importance and you must stand your ground.” Clearly, to many people this would mean to defend your home even if it were to cost you your life, but the Nature beings did not know how. They acted upon one thought and that thought was the will of Mother Nature. The Nature beings did not have the individuality that the humanoids possessed until that one person. That one person would change everything and Mother Nature knew who it was.

The Humanoids began their attack once more but amidst the battle, there stood a man, a person far different from the Nature beings. A nature being that possessed a will, a being known as the Nature King. The humanoids charged with their wooden weapons, crafted from Nature, towards the being that stood amidst the battle. Nature beings watched from every corner as a group of humanoids charged at the single being until the humanoids were constricted with his roots. Upon planting his roots, the being strapped his entire body and encased the group in a vine trap and quickly killed off the Humanoids. The nature beings stared in awe as one being, a man with no name but a title, the Nature King, kill off a group of humanoids using his body.

As the humanoids stared in confusion, many of which were blinded by rage, charged at the being and then the Nature beings launched a counter-offensive. They appeared from the shadows and lunged at the astonished humanoids. They wrapped their body around the humanoids and sacrificed their entirety for the sake of Nature. The Nature King stood there, with his nature limbs intertwined with the dead humanoids that attacked him, and began to reform his body once more. The Nature King had a natural healing body and he picked up a lone stick that laid on the ground below him. The stick from the Mother Tree, which is said to have given birth to Mother Nature and himself. The stick began to glow and transform into an oaken staff that had unknown properties. The staff was white as the bark from the mother tree and a crest laid at the top. The Nature King dashed forward and blunged his staff into the enemy Humanoids. The nature beings gradually pushed the Humanoids back to their original settlement. The battle was overtly balanced with the Nature King leading the vanguard, and the Nature beings charging out of nowhere, until they showed up.

The Magical beasts began to appear and then poured their energy onto Oryon, creating Magick on the planet. The Magical beasts prowled over the land and destroyed both Nature and the Humanoids. Along with their destruction, they spread their Magick along the way. Magick itself, created the many blizzards, firestorms, water cyclones and tornadoes. The magical effects began to distort the land, eventually disrupting Nature as a whole. Nature was under heavy affects from the Magical properties of the storms and eventually causing Mother Nature to be sealed away. The Nature King was under the magical effects and defended Mother Nature before being sealed away. As Magick loomed over the area, the Nature King was slowly rotting away. His body of nature began to decay and eventually dispersed over Mother Nature, whom which cried in sadness.

Mother Nature was no longer protected and thus sealed herself away from Magick. The Nature King’s body vanished and all that was left was the stick that recognized the Nature King. The humanoids were influenced by Magick and began to mutated. Their appearance changed and Magick altered their bodies. Many of the Humanoids were changed similarly to the animals that roamed around Nature. Then soon, different races were popping up due to Magick and the Magical Beasts prowled the fours corners of the planet. The Magical beasts distorted the lands they came into contact with and eventually returned to the skies which they came from, and eventually to the far corners of the universe.

The Humanoids were now diverse and distinguished into various different races and for Nature, it heavily decreased in size. This is the diverse races that exist on Oryon and how they came into being. Of course the races were different, but that difference also aided several into subjugating the other races. Many races fought to claim supremacy and enslaved the other but things started to slow down once the Humans, those unaffected by Magick, came into light. The Humans were individual beings that were simply but their ingenuity and individuality proved to be a game changer. The other races began to follow the Humans and slowly, the races began to change. They began to follow their origin, once as Humanoids, and finally lived peaceful. The Humans began advancing in technology, building new kingdoms, constructing advanced weapons, making the Human civilization advanced than the rest. Thus, the races intertwined and they made the kingdoms today. To this day, in several kingdoms, people do not mind the different races but in others, the different races are treated as scum. Several races stayed with humanity while some others vanished into the four corners.

Today, there are two major kingdoms that are waging war over powerful items. Those items, which can increase a kingdom’s might due to the effects of those items, the two kingdoms are fighting over. The Kingdom of Algarun is a kingdom that is oppressed by a faulty king, who seeks power rather than obeying his people. The Kingdom of Klorim is a peaceful kingdom but they are waging war against Algarun, specifically the King, for his greed. The Algarun Kingdom has subjugated many outside races and used them as Power subjects, increasing his strength under force and the Kingdom of Klorim declares war upon the nefarious deeds of the King. The King of Algarun is using magical races to enslaven them upon the reason of garnering more might. This is the reason for the war and Klorim is trying to prevent the expansion of Algarun.

The Nature beings disappeared and fled away into the remaining locations that were still protected by Mother Nature and her blessings. Before her sealment, Mother Nature created special orbs that were influenced by Magick and created places that created barriers for the Nature beings to reside in. However, Mother Nature was willing to sacrifice part of her body to create the safe havens for her children. Magick greatly consumed her power and sealed her entire body. Those orbs that were influenced by Magick, cannot be accessed by the Nature beings, only those who are proficient in the Arcane arts may entire the special instances which houses the orbs. Many of the Nature beings sought many ways to under her seal but all was futile. They knew that the return of the Nature King would somehow undo her seal so they simply left her alone, frozen in an unknown location. Mother Nature was sealed in a forest, guarded by a specific number of Nature beings that displayed humanoid features. They were created in image of the Nature King, who housed a humanly body, but made of nature. Their entire body was composed of Nature but they functioned like humans. Their individual thought was given to them by the Nature King, but they would fulfill their duty on protecting Mother Nature upon his descend back to the planet. The forest was meant to guard the denizens that lived there, but it also housed Mother Nature’s sealed body. The denizens are beings that disguise themselves in order to protect their Mother, and they’ve been protecting her all this time.

There was a time which the denizens of the forest lost that symbol which recognized the Nature King. A man entered their territory and lived for quite some time. For the time he spent there, he simply lived next to the forest and watched the denizens live in peace. Until that fateful morning, which he stole the symbol of the Nature King. No other being could wield the symbol, yet this man could. The Nature beings charged after him yet it was futile. The man had disappeared, leaving behind a strange symbol with two crossed blades. The symbol was imprinted onto a rock that is located in the forest. The Nature beings cried for a long time as their only hope of undoing Mother Nature’s seal was gone. The Nature beings began to explore the outside world, away from Nature and began to search for the symbol that is the Nature King. Since then, they had no luck on locating the symbol which marks the Nature King, but one day it shall return….

It was a normal day in the Demon Realm, and the Capital of Maran is busy as usual. The Capital is running along and next to the capital walls, lies a gigantic forest. The forest is just an average forest but many of the demonic creatures lie within the depths of the forest. As the day was beginning to rise into noon, suddenly there was a loud scream that could be heard coming from the skies, above the forest….

“AHHHHHH AHHHH WHERE THE HELL IS THIS PORTAL SENDING ME HEREEEEEE!!!!!”

A man was seen descending onto the forest, screaming loudly as he approached the ground, then suddenly…

“Oh wait...I forgot that...I CAN FLY!”

[Flying]!

The man soon sprouted several wings on his back and suddenly he began to fly out of control. The man did not have any flight experience with his wings and began to flap ridiculously in flight.

“FUCK!!!! I FORGOT TO TRAIN THIS SKILL!!! AHHHH NOOOOO!!!”

He zoomed left and right, going upside down and diagonal directions. The strange man with multiple wings zipped through the treelines and several branches smacked him on the face…

“OWW WHAT THE HELL!!!!

His body was completely out of motion and finally he crashed into a tree…

*snap*

*crack*

*boom*

A loud thud resounded through the mellow forest and a bunch of demonic birds scuffled through the trees and flew away upon the impact.

A ray of light shined down upon the area where the man landed and gave view to a man face planted onto the ground and his rear facing forward….

Souma was completely dazed since he hasn’t had much flight experience and he will be training that ability once he gets the chance to. He decided he’d rather train his flying skill in the real world rather than the Void, since it really isn’t actual experience when you don’t feel the air resistance. Completely worn out from his first flight experience with his wings, Souma gradually got up and looked at his surroundings…

“What the hell...ughhh I landed pretty hard..I remember that I haven’t trained my flying skill...I should start soon...but wow...where am I…”

‘...this forest is quite….normal...You’d expect some weird demonic trees growing but noooo, you got normal trees over here growing like they don’t give a damn...’

Ojii-chan: Okay Souma, I know you are excited but the forest is just a forest...the demon realm isn’t much different from the real world besides the fact that every being created here is from Asmodan’s body and they are demonic creatures...I do not know how they are but when I first came here, the demons tried to bite my head off. I guess it was a “normal” greeting for them but the demon that tried….broke his jaw upon trying...so I wouldn’t expect any hospitality if I were you…

Souma: Well Ojii-chan...that sounds quite unpleasant but please tell me….WHY THE HELL WAS I FALLING FROM THE SKY!?

Ojii-chan: Errr...Well I thought you could fly and the seal was placed on a tree that extended high above this forest..Speaking of which...where’s the tree…

Souma: Well, I don’t know where the tree is but we should get going before th-

Before Souma could finish talking to Ojii-chan, he was drowning in a multitude of skill updates and ding sounds.

This continued for quite a bit and Souma just stood there looking at his interface, being flooded with notifications…

“ARE YOU DONE YET!?”

“Goddammit….I’ll just sit here and wait then…”

Souma continued to wait for a few minutes and saw the mysterious texts formulate around the new windows that popped up. On a certain window, there were ancient texts that were transcribed into his language and on another a bright window, flashed in red that displayed vivid warnings that piqued his interest but he would have to wait until he viewed the other windows...

The words were mysterious and several more notifications popped up.

Soul Telepathy

Soul Link:

Soul Link enables the user to link him/herself with another soul. The soul can be alive or deceased but living souls can create problems depending on the situations that occur. A soul link allows two beings to share their memories and feelings. The Soul Link cannot be broken unless both parties agree to it. There can be unlimited Soul Links but it takes a great toll on the original user. Souls cannot convene on each other unless the user allows it.

Soul Telepathy:

Soul Telepathy allows the user to communicate with the soul wherever he/she is. If a deceased soul is connected, that soul cannot pass on until he/she is released from the Soul Link. Soul Telepathy is an ability that allows souls to communicate with the living and also with the dead.

Ojii-chan: Soul Telepathy, that is how we can communicate without words but even if you were to talk as you are doing now, I still would be able to communicate back.

Fortress Command

A skill that allows full control over the Jyousai. Only the Master has access to the Fortress Command and can alter the appearance of the Jyousai. This command is limited to several features due to lack of inhabitants and no self-producing income. Once the Jyousai acquires certain items and population, those features will be unlocked.

Appearance changed due to entering the demon realm. The user will become more demonic and his appearance will reflect his emotions. Only the Royal Bloodline, related to Asmodan directly, possesses the Demonic Armor. Demonic appearance is now automatically concealed from lesser beings. Only those of Royal blood can recognize this Form’s appearance due to the Demonic Armor. This form cannot be deactivated within the Demon Realm unless the user changes into a new form. Ojii-chan: Indeed it is, but trust me you won’t be spotted. Only those who can overlook the ward are from the Royal Family and besides you’ll still look like a human...I do not know whether if the demons still hate the humans but I think they can still sense your demonic aura...We may have to change your appearance into a different creature but you shouldn’t worry too much. From what I know, humans used to enter the capital but they were heavily guarded due to demons preying upon them. If the standards haven’t changed then, you should be able to enter the capital as a human but you would have to watch your back considering the relationship between the two races…

Due to achieving various God-ranked abilities, Souma has access to a new Magic.

Destruction Magic (Formerly known as Void Magic - God-ranked)

Destruction magic allows the user to completely destroy anything. Destruction magic relies on Void abilities to completely render and banish the designated object or person out of existence. Destruction Magic is a variant Magic that depends on the amount of Mana a person has. The distance from the user and the object of choice will also be dependant on the amount of mana available. A single use of this ability consumes 10,000 units of Mana without applying the distance needed. For a mile, an extra unit of 10,000 is added. Also, the magic ability changes as it continues to evolve. Destruction Magic can be used for single or multiple targets depending on the level of the skill.

Due to learning Destruction Magic, Souma has unlocked information regarding the Origin of Magic.

Origin of Magic

Since long before the gods existed, there were magical beasts that roamed the entire universe. These magical beasts were made of pure Magick and they distributed their own magic to the corners of the universe. They continued to spread Magick and eventually arrived to Planet Oryon and like the others, gave magic to this world too. The Magical beasts arrived around the same time when humanoids were first appearing on the face of the planet alongside the Nature Beings. After finishing their job, the magical beasts then disappeared into the universe, hidden from any entity. No one has ever encountered a magical beast except for one entity; Kami-sama. The only god to come into contact with a magical beast is Kami-sama and gained an enormous amount of power. Power so great, that even he cannot see its limit. No other person knows about Kami-sama’s interaction with the Magical Beasts, but this makes him the strongest being in the entire universe aside from the magical beasts. It is said that the creator of Magic, is composed of the Origin of Magic and is the same beast that met with Kami-sama.

Souma began to clench his fist and stared into the sky which he fell from. His face began to formulate veins at the forehead and Souma grinded his teeth heavily upon reading the new information. His expression was dire and suddenly he screamed…

“WHAT THE HELL KAMI-SAMA!? IF YOU ARE SO STRONG WHY THE HELL CAN’T YOU DO THIS!? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!? I WAS SUMMONED BECAUSE YOU WERE LAZY IS THAT IT REALLY REALLY!?!!!! BLAHH I WILL PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE THE FIRST TIME I SEE YOU!!! I SWEAR I WILL!!!”

Ojii-chan: ……. I cannot say anything...even I am stupified by this...Souma...I want you to give him two punches, one from you and from me…

Souma: Don’t worry...I will...WHAAAAT THE HELL!!!!!!!! I bet he’s gonna give some excuse like “Umm, well I cannot use my powers anymore, dokki!”, I swear I am gonna kill him when I meet him…

A window appeared, dyed in red, covered in dark black letters surfaced and Souma gazed upon the contents. The contents revealed the thing that Kami-sama has placed onto Souma but it was something that he already knew…

The Limiter prohibits the use of God-ranked Abilities. This includes the God-rank Magic, Columna Lucis, Destruction magic, and Atomic abilities. Gravitational Affinity has been limited to a few cases, any planetary gravity change is locked and the user can only change an object’s gravity up to 200.

This Limiter can be broken under one condition, You will have to sacrifice part of your essence; your soul. Depending on how much output you require on your god-ranked abilities, it may consume more Essence than it should. Essence compiles your entirety, which is your memories, emotions, skills, feelings and including your body and organs.

Ojii-chan: Well, Kami-sama said it is an item you must find. Something that you must gain that will release you from this curse...I do not know what the item is and neither does Kami-sama…

Power Limiter - Kurogane

The power limiter is set to 30% for all Kurogane-class abilities. Souma is able to use the Kurogane skills but the limiter will place it at 30%. This limiter creates a safeguard for everyone as the abilities can destroy the landscape through misuse. Example will be Ryuu Kurogane’s first attempt on unleashing his powers; The destruction of the Planetary Belt.

Ojii-chan: Okay okay...Heyyy...you know I was young and I couldn't control myself….I wanted to see what I could do...I didn’t know it would be THAT bad…...Blame Kami-sama for not knowing how much my powers would escalate…

Souma: Yeah, I’d blame him too...damn omnipotent god, too lazy to do anything yet ridiculously strong…

Ojii-chan: Well...That is pretty much everything that occurred and all the skills you’ve gained...Also, I’d advise you not train your abilities in the Void…

Souma: Why not? It’s faster and easier….

Ojii-chan: Yes it is, but what good is it when you don’t have practical experience...see take for example your flying ability. The reason why you chose not to train it was because of no air resistance right? Well, as much as you train in the void, if you do not have any experience, your abilities will reset.

Souma: WAIT WAIT WHAT!? RESET WHY THAT!? I’ve spent a lot of time on these abilities ojii-chan!

Ojii-chan: And that is precisely why you must get practical experience. It’s a good thing that you were protected by Kami-sama during that memory loss phase and you were in the dungeon...But now you are on your own...Kami-sama is apparently busy right now and cannot help you…

Souma: But...but….I guess...It clearly makes sense since I could just train the ability but without the practical experience, it’ll just go to waste…

Ojii-chan: Good, no wonder you are my descendant...now...we must go...to the capital but first….

Souma: What? is there something we need to do here…?

Ojii-chan: You should practice on hiding your demonic aura...from what I noticed, none of the demonic creatures want to come near you, regardless if you seem weak or not...Your demonic aura is too much for them and you should learn to control it if we are going to the capital...someone could get suspicious…

Souma: Ohh...well, I think the demon realm is enhancing my aura…

Ojii-chan: Well, learn to control it then!

Souma: H-hai..!!

Ojii-chan: I know it must seem annoying but we cannot afford you getting caught considering this is their home grounds and you have a limiter...What would you do if one of the Apostles under Garoth found you...you never know what might happen…

Souma: Alright alright! I’ll do it!

Souma was already in his demonic form due to the Demon Realm but he forcefully cancels the Ward effect from the armor. His demonic form became visible and showed his demonic appearance. His white hair grew considerably longer along with the extension of his horns. His demonic wings were completely wrapped in the black miasma that radiated from his body and the red lines on his body shone brightly in the forest. Along with his demonic form, his clothes were magically enhanced to converge with his transformations, which Souma thought to be something from the enchantments that came with the outfit. He wondered what other enchants he could add but Souma had to focus on the task at hand. The black miasma that radiated from his body seems to be his demonic energy and he completely focused on repelling that energy. With Astral mind, it allowed him to focus on his energy using a meditative stance. As Souma meditated, the miasma gradually decreased until something happened…

Ojii-chan: Oh by the way Souma, I’m hungry…

Souma: ….REALLY REALLY YOU INTERRUPT ME FOR FOOD AND YOU ARE ALREADY DEAD!?

His meditation was interrupted and the black miasma emerged and drowned the area in Souma’s demonic aura. The demonic creatures shrieked in terror and retreated far away from the vicinity and Souma sighed…

“Haaa...I guess...I am getting hungry but I could go on long periods without eating thanks to the demon form…”

Ojii-chan: Yeah...but I am linked with you so technically I am still alive and hungry...so can we go to the capital and get something to eat then we can meet my friend…

“Oh yeah, we still have to meet this friend of yours, are you sure he’s still alive?”

Ojii-chan: What makes you think it’s a guy, and I’m sure that person is still alive….I think…

“So it’s a female? and really Ojii-chan...you think..”

Ojii-chan: Well, even I don’t know what gender my friend is. I just say that he’s an it but you never know, can’t tell demons apart…

“So there are some demons that are gender-confused…?”

Ojii-chan: Well, somewhat. But a lot of the misunderstandings was because I was partially blind that time so I probably thought some of the girls were guys because I couldn’t see well…

“You know...I don’t know want to get caught up in your story so much...now I pretty much can control my aura as long as I focus on suppressing it through my Astral Mind….Now, let’s get going…”

Ojii-chan: Finally...some fooooood

Souma activated the ward and donned the appearance of his human form while masking his demonic aura. Ojii-chan guided Souma through the forest and they chatted using [Soul Telepathy] about the Maran Capital. The capital was created after the humans staged a miniature invasion but the demons repelled their efforts. The capital was created to house their king, Maou-sama to guide the demonic troops to battle. The Maran Capital was also created in the influence of commerce due to the many demon tribes that traded in the capital. The capital isn’t a normal Capital, however it may be called one, it is completely different. It is said that the capital is considered the kingdom of the Demon Realm. The Kingdom which Maou-sama, their king, has his quarters and attends to the largest army in the entire realm. The Maran Capital is just as large as a Kingdom yet operates as one capital instead of many cities.

As Ojii-chan was explaining things, Souma gradually got a better view on the capital and knew about its history. Souma was thinking deeply in his head when Ojii-chan abruptly called out to him…

Ojii-chan: SOUMA!!!! We are here…

“Wha...WHAT IS IT!”

“Ohh...wait...what…”

Souma stood at the Capital gates that stood just as large as that monstrous being from the Dungeon and there were a few guards at the entrance. On the front, there was a metal gate that would rise upon entry and were operated by several demons behind the gate. The demon guards seemed to be normal guards but their armor was tinged black with horns perched at the helmet. They gave off a menacing aura to the group of merchants that traveled from afar. The merchants were trying to gain entry at the gate yet the guards wouldn’t let them pass without inspection. Upon realizing their suspicion, the merchants revealed their true outfits and they were garbed in black. The guards attacked ruthlessly with magic, shooting bolts of lightning at the suspicious group that turned out to be bandits. The bandits charged and launched an offensive at the guards. One of the bandits leaped forward and stabbed one of the demon guards, causing his entire body to burst into flames upon contact with the blade.

After the guard burst into flames, a horn was blown and several guards appeared from the entry gate. The bandits charged but it clearly was a 5 vs 20 fight. They had no choice but to retreat but then they spotted Souma, a person that looked human. The bandits came to Souma and clutched his body from behind and held him hostage. The bandits were yelling in the demon tongue and Souma could understand due to his demon form…

“Let us through or this human gets it!”

“I am warning you! I will harm this puny human, which you so called demons love so much!”

“DO NO TRY ME, I WILL KILL THIS MAN! KEKEKE!!"

The guards were looking at Souma and the desperate bandits that surrounding him. All Souma was thinking was that he was caught up in another stupid fight…

‘Ughh...I just want to go inside and eat then get this over with...WHY MUST I BE INVOLVED….THIS BANDIT IS STUPID!? WHAT THE HELL’

Ojii-chan: I don’t know...but it would be best to let the guards handle it...we still don’t know much about the demons but from what that bandit said, it would seem that the humans and demons like each other...that is weird but it would be best to let them handle it…

Souma: Nope...I am gonna get out of this...I would hate to be known as a pushover...you already knew I was going to say that…

Ojii-chan: And this is why you are my descendant...Try not to kill them…

Souma: Errr...Killing people...I still have no justifiable cause for killing...I still feel weird since I killed that apostle...I’d rather not kill but rather torture them…

Ojii-chan: Yeah...just like my wife...she would think the same...oh man I just remembered painful days from our honeymoon...the torture…

Souma: ………

Ojii-chan: ………

Souma readied himself and waited for the opportune moment to strike back. The moment had came when one of the guards attempted to move closer and the bandit’s arm loosened. Souma took this chance and grabbed the arm that held the weapon. Upon grabbing the arm, Souma ruthlessly squeezed and clearly broke his arm when a loud crack could be heard. The bandits stared in confusion until they were caught up in something…

‘You know...I want to use something new...I did get the new combination magic skills...let’s try this...’

[Swamp Trap!]

A large field of murky water appeared on the ground, trapping the bandits. The murky water felt like quicksand and gradually consumed the bandits. It was literally a swamp mixed with quicksand and Souma stood above the murky water as the bandit with the broken arm was squirming in agony over his broken arm and the fact that he was gradually sinking.

“AHH AHHH WHAT IS THIS!? WHY ARE WE SINKING” The bandits yelled out in succession and looked at the man that stood above the swamp.

The guards were astonished and several of them pointed their weapons towards Souma but their Guard captain waved them to stand down. The Captain walked forward towards Souma where he stood and spoke to Souma…

“I see...this is very amusing…” The captain said in an eccentric tone next to Souma’s ear and Souma was shocked at the abrupt voice…

“Well…I---”

“Ahhh, forgive me. My name is Glen, the Infernal demon captain of the 75th Guard Regiment...I see you’ve handled the bandits with ease while my men could not…they should learn from you…” The Captain spoke with a slight womanly tone and Souma could’ve sworn he saw a demonic expression on the captain’s helmet as Souma turned around to look at the captain.

“Ahh...ahh..well I am just a beginner...this is nothing…” Souma spoke with an uneasy tone and the captain could obviously sense this but decided to wait until Souma explained everything.

“Ah, my name is Souma and I am just a traveler...I would like to rest in the Capital…”

“Ohhhh...Really now...Well, since you’ve helped us clear these bandits I suppose it would be courteous to let you through but...what is a human doing here...you should already have guards when in the demon realm...even today, there still are many demons that despise humans even after the reformation from the new demon king…”

‘Oh, so humans are allowed here but it would be better to have guards...got it...’

“Ahah...I see...It was careless of me to wander about without any guards…” Souma was trying to lie his way in and sweat dripped down the side of his face..

‘Err...I hope he lets me through...I mean really...I just helped them...’

“Alright, you may go in but you mustn’t cause any trouble...If I find out about you causing trouble in the Capital...I will devour you...got it...Mister Souma..”

“Got it!”

‘Yikes...this captain means business...although I am not afraid of the captain but i’d rather not cause any problems….yet.’

The guards let Souma pass and the Captain looked at the silhouette that entered the gates into the Capital. The Captain made a licking noise and stared at Souma one last time as the gates closed….

‘That man...looks delicious...’ The thought resounded in the Captain’s mind and the guards around the captain shivered in fear until the captain returned to the Guard post…

Souma finally entered the Capital and gazed at the ridiculous amounts of buildings. It reminded him of modern Japan, when his father took him out to see the city but the Maran capital was filled with buildings. Rather than being modern, it was filled with multitude of buildings that had various signs and multiple people conversating in between. Many demon creatures talked as they went shopping as normal humans and many of them were entering buildings that looked like inns. The Capital was far larger than what Souma was seeing. The front portion was just 1/15th of the entire Capital. Souma entered through the Western gate and entered the Western district of the Maran Capital.

As he continued to gaze at the various buildings and people, he did not notice that he was receiving equal amounts of gazes from some of the demons. Finally, when he noticed, several demons had started murmuring…

“Human….”

“I see Human…”

…

“Human I smell…”

…

“HOOMAN I SEE HOOMAN ME MEET HOOMAN”

The last one was from a bulky, shifty ogre that awkwardly yelled out “hooman” from an entrance to a restaurant. The restaurant had puzzling aromas but Souma was going to eat anyways thus he followed the Ogre into the restaurant.

It was then, that Souma was going to experience something totally different since upon arriving to the planet Oryon….
