《Enigma's Multiverse (Rewritten, link in description)》Chapter 37- Class Selection
Advertisement
Tim found himself back in his chambers, his hand that earlier had clasped on to a warm hand now only found empty air instead.
[Congratulations! You have successfully advanced to Middle Stage Initiate Level Cultivation.]
[Congratulations! You have reached level 10.]
[Congratulations you have received Limited Title: Goliath's Bane+. Requirements: Be the first person to reach Middle Stage Initiate Level Cultivation on a planet (1/100)]
[Goliath's Bane+, Limited Title
+30 to all stats
+6 to luck
A question that has been asked from time immemorial, a question that will be continued to ask where there is presence of strife. A question that you have answered. To fell the one you find indomitable, to fell the one you believe to be the personification of strength itself, you have earned this title.]
Tim browsed through his notifications, and though he saw them as a welcome addition, there was nothing too surprising. Just as he was going to proceed with stat allocation for reaching level 10, another notification popped up. This time, he was intrigued.
[You are now eligible for class selection. Available classes will be decided based on achievements and combat style. Would you like to proceed? Yes/No]
"Class selection, huh. I really hope the system doesn't fuck me over on this one" said Tim, in a uncharacteristically playful mood after passing his tribulation, and then pressed yes.
[Calculating Initiate grade classes based on Daoist Earth's Vengeance accomplishments....... 9 potential classes offered]
Unique Class: Aankhara's Inevitablity
Weapon Requirement: Sword (any form)
A rough, shoddy and improvised sword combat style devised by an average cultivator, one that should not deserve to be taken note of by the system. Yet, it still was.
Today a cautionary tale in the multiverse, Aankhara's name is one that strikes fear into those who seek security in believing cultivation levels to be an absolute metric, hoping their sins will go unpunished. The skill's beauty lies in its simplicity, it's raw ferocity. Each action, movement and strike is devised to reap the life of the enemy, carried out without any shred of hesitation or regard for a sense of self- preservation. Unless the opponent is supremely confident in his own skills or willing to put his life on the line, he would soon find himself on the defensive and eventually overcome by a series of unrelenting killer blows.

'The only inevitablity is death, either that of Aankhara or his foe.'
Unique Class: Marsinia's Treachery
Weapon Requirement: Rapier type weapon
The Warrior Queen Marsinia, a title that struck fear into the hearts of both friend and foe alike, was known for a great many deal of things. However, benevolence did not happen to be one of them.
Neither she, nor the thin, unimpressive blade she carried drew much attention in the royal court. The child of a concubine, seventh in the line of succession was seen as an adornment to the king's side, a mere political accessory to be exchanged for an alliance at an opportune moment.
A perception that was thoroughly shattered the day she initiated the succession rite. 'Sheer madness' is what the wily ministers thought, when the inexperienced youth challenged the veteran of a hundred wars. A duel that would end only when one remained standing, thus commenced.
The kingdom stared agast at the scene in front of them, as Princess Marsinia finally displayed the full extent of her combat prowess.
A piercing stab directed to the king's throat, when parried by the king was found to have no force behind it. A clever faint to relax his guard, followed by a slash to the abdomen before he could react. The king's enraged retaliation came not long after , his sword already elevated after being forced to defend, utilizing that position to erupt with a mighty downward slash aiming to end this farce. Marsinia too was forced to parry, but instead of indulging in a contest of strength, all she did was relax her grip.
Her light blade allowed for this swift maneovre as she took a step to her left, while her right hand was bent in an awkward manner. She had smoothly transitioned stances, from a defensive one to a makeshift one, her rapier pointed downwards as a screeching sound ensued. Metal against metal, the king stared in horror as his blade missed the mark, sliding down Marsinia's sword and into the soft ground.

The last scene he ever saw.
'A treacherous blade for a treacherous queen, truly a fitting match'.
Unique Class: Frenzied Hunt
Requirement: Claw type weapon
" Swords, spears, axes and the like have their own advantages and disadvantages. But I can derive no thrill from using such banal weaponry, it is truly such a drab way to conduct a battle." - Daoist Minasi Hai.
While using traditional weaponry, combat is a sequence of moves which adapts according to the behaviour of the opponent. However, for one who has decided to devote his efforts in mastering claw type weapons, he must take a backseat and cede to his primal nature. Combat is fluidity itself, while your foe is merely prey that you have set your sights on. One must think like a hegemon, a predator that is disturbed while in its natural habitat. The environment around you, be it the firmness of the terrain or the weather on that day, anything that can be used to one's advantage, must be. A battle is one with the objective of killing the opponent as soon as possible, there is no middle ground. The optimal element for the apex predator is when it is accompanied with the element of surprise.
Tim stared at the options in front of him with a weird expression on his face. This.... was not quite what he had expected when the system mentioned 'class' selection. Especially the first option, it seemed as if he was being taken for a ride here, or the system thought him to be some sort of masochist. Thankfully, there were other more 'normal' sounding options at lower rarities. At the same time, Tim knew how much importance the system attached to its rarity system, making it a vexing conundrum.

Changement : Version Face [French]
Notice: This story is in French, not in english, mainly because of my poor english. I may translate it later if I get better, and hopefully I will. - Author's note: this story is a concept. During the first chapter, the main character is faced with a major decision, which will change his life forever, and, not knowing what to do, he decide to play heads or tails, and let fate choose for him. And so there will be two versions of this story, one for each of the result, and their consequences for the main character, as well as all those around him. Here, he got heads.
