《Heretic King》Heretic King - Chapter 27

A/N Someone pointed out in the last chapter that the story is very fast paced, and I understand what he means but as the story is classed as reader interactive I'm gonna put a poll in this chapter for story speed, I'm gonna try my best to make this chapter more evenly paced as an example.
I'm assuming that this is a dungeon where you go higher not lower to get to the end as we entered from the base of the former Eiffel Tower. If so judging by the height of the ceiling which is about 4 meters and assuming it's the same every floor, with it being 300 meters in total, that'd be 75 floors. This is gonna take a while.
Although I had been in dungeons before, this one was the first to give a proper dungeon feel. Old Trafford was the same just with monsters and a treasure chest and Theseus' Tomb only had two levels to it. This dungeon was the first I found where normal dungeon things such as traps and monster rooms appeared. The traps were easy to detect with Scan but the monster rooms were different, you wouldn't know whether it was one until you entered though there were some signs.
The dungeons first floor appeared like we were constantly walking through a tunnel of slithering vines, which if I may say looked really disturbing. Besides the vines there were occasionally flowers on the walls that would release a gas which I found is for inducing hallucination. Good thing with a bit of Elemental Transmutation I could change it to a focusing buff since it was a gas.
Aside from the Chimeras, we ran into other plant like monsters. There was one that appeared to be a harmless sunflower with whiskers, when I identified(ID'd) it I was told it was called a Dandelion, thinking it looked I approached it, and it went berserk. The things body expanded until it looked like a regular lion just with petals for a mane. Man that scared me.
Another enemy was the Rose Knight. This enemies limbs seemed to be made of rose stalks while it's armor was made of rose petals. It was wearing a different colored petal for a mask and wielding a thorn for a sword. Although it was slightly weak, they were encountered in troops of at least 6 at a time. At one point we encountered a group of 24, though thankfully since the corridors were narrow so at most 8 side by side could attack us at a time, and since they didn't exactly have a brain they couldn't encircle us.
The monster rooms mentioned before were a real pain. One reason for example is that when you enter the door behind you closes so you're stuck in a wide room with troops of Rose Knights, Chimeras and Dandelions. It is not so surprisingly easy to get encircled an surrounded. Our method of dealing with it was to freeze the floor and since the monsters were not used to the terrain they would fail to move around easily. Although the dungeon after around 5 minutes would reset the terrain so for prolonged battles we had to cast it more than once.

Although the Monster Rooms were annoying they gave good rewards. Every Monster room would drop a chest, and each chest gave a supplement. These supplement permanently added stats. The most common ones were the six basic stats (STR,AGI,DEX,INT,WIS,VIT) while class stats and luck were more rare. We agreed that since although the supplements added stats we would try and cover our weaknesses, so the only supplements I received were VIT as Fen needed more Agility and Dexterity supplements while Diana needed STR, VIT and AGI. Each supplement added around 30 stat points to each while each chest dropped about 5 each time.
In the end I got 6 VIT supplements which all in all gave me 170 Vitality. Diana got 7 VIT, 12 STR and 5 AGI, which gave her 195 Vitality, 320 Strength and 140 Agility. While Fen received 6 AGI and 11 DEX which gave her 125 Agility and 270 Dexterity.
Besides the supplements, Diana levelled up to Level 49, Fen levelled up to level 44 while I levelled up to Level 47. With the supplements and the level up this is what our status looks like.

I hadn't checked Fen's stats in a while, I am sorta regretting it as Fen would make a pretty effective tank with her high VIT and FOR. But that Luck is still absurd.
After exploring the entire floor we found a large door, which was either a boss room or a door to the stairway. Probably both. Oh well we needed to advance and this was he only room left. As we pushed the door open I began explaining the battle plan.
"Alright Fen, you're the Tank. Take as many hits as you can but be careful as besides potions we have no way to heal you. Be sure to constantly taunt it and keep it's focus on you. Diana your job is to harass the enemy with quick attacks and slows. Every now and then throw in a heavy hit. While my job is DPS, while Fen keeps focus I will deal as much damage as possible. Let's hope this works."
Inside we found the big bad boss that we predicted in two different ways. 1. We predicted there would be a boss. 2. Earlier on in the dungeon I predicted Echidna would be here, and lo and behold we were greeted by a giant Lamia by the name of Echidna.

EchidnaEchidna known as the mother of monsters and wife of Typhon. Echidna is half-Nypmh half-serpent and has abilities of both.Level233Health250,000/250,000StatusN/AEchidna in her large form cannot move freely, but her attacks are thus heavy and she has access to high level magic due to her Nypmh blood.
Well I can understand not being able to move freely if you're that large, Her width was at least 10 meters while height probably reached close to 12 meters, she was just slightly under the ceiling which was about 13 meters. At least she won't be able to make any serious evasive maneuvers. Though Diana will probably have a bigger role than I previously thought as snakes are weak to the cold.
"Puny Mortals, you dare to enter my domain and slaughter my children!? You have angered this queen! Make peace with the gods because you won't be leaving this room alive!." As she finished speaking she quickly began to cast fire magic in our direction as we still weren't in range for physical attacks.
"Diana quickly intercept it with your magic! Fen follow me!" We began our approach as Diana shot out two thick icicles towards the large fireball heading towards us. Neither Fen or I flinched as we had faith in Diana. Meeting our expectations the fireball quickly dissipates into a cloud of mist which although still blocks our path we can easily pass through it.
With Echidna taking up the majority of the room it didn't take long for us to be upon her. Deciding to try a test strike I quickly coat my weapon in a layer of frost from the residual ice in the air and strike.

The damage is pretty good If I do say myself. With Echidna's health another 100 or so of those it will fall. And that's only if I'm alone.

Diana had managed to get off an intermediate Ice drill while we struck, dealing double my damage. I guess cold really is a snakes weakness.
Echidna enraged over losing 10,000 health in an instant strikes out towards Fen and I. With my Ninjutsu I manage to avoid the tail swipe, but Fen wasn't so lucky(go figure) and was struck.
-1,743
With Fen's high FOR the tail swipe didn't do as much as it probably should have. With the first round done and Echidna slowed slightly from Diana's magic; which I can see her building up a big one out of the corner of my eye, for that we should distract Echidna so Diana can complete her spell. For starters I activate Two Heads Four Arms while expanding my staff to fit in four arms.
I strike towards Echidna's gut with bloodlust and frost coating my weapon, surprisingly the hit sends Echidna's large body back a few paces.
-4,202
An extra two arms really helps huh, in the sight of my other head I can see Diana has completed her spell so I quickly back peddle to avoid collateral damage. As I retreat I see what the spell is. Behind Diana is a bunch of ice lances behind her like Gilgamesh in Fate/Zero all locked onto Echidna who by the way has saw it and is trying to activate a counter skill. We can't be having that. As the lances launch I activate Devil's Elimination on Echidna to cancel whatever skill she was planning to use. Thus she is struck with the full brunt of the spell.

With all the lances striking it was nice of the system to add it all together instead of flooding our vision with damage values. With that massive spell Echidna has already lost one fifth of her health. Taking this chance I signal for Fen to follow me and whittle down more of her health.

Echidna after that barrage of attacks looks positively livid and ready to ground us into meat paste. She quickly swipes her tail at Fen and I. I can't avoid it, though I should have enough health and fortification to survive one hit. Wait what's that red aura!?
Shit Shit Shit! I underestimated her because of how easy this was going! The strike hits both of us and a system notification nearly makes me despair.

A/N So there is Chapter 27. If you feel that this chapter doesn't feel different tell me below and I'll try and think of ways to slow down the pace if that's what the poll decides. If you have any suggestions, advice, notice any mistakes or just have a comment please leave it down below! For now Ciaossu!

My House of Horrors
The hearse with the weird odor slowed to a stop before the entrance. The sound of pebbles could be heard bouncing on the ceiling. There were footsteps coming from the corridor, and there seemed to be someone sawing next door. The door knob to the room rattled slightly, and the faucet in the bathroom kept dripping even though it had been screwed shut. There was a rubber ball that rolled on its own underneath the bed. Wet footsteps started to surface one after another on the floor. At 3 am, Chen Ge held a cleaver in his hand as he hid beside the room heater. The call he was trying to make was finally answered. “Landlord, is this what you meant by ‘the house can be a little crowded at night’‽”

What if you can build a town that moves faster than the speed of light? Silas Creedy, a retired Olympic Fencer in his late twenties, has befallen hard times in a crashing economy caused by dwindling rare minerals on Earth and Helium-3 on the lunar surface. He works as a manual laborer for the Space Force, accepting a measly pay while maintaining a strong physique. On Monday morning, Silas receives a notice of termination, but General Grant Freeman makes a dangerous offer: explore a distant star system in a top-secret electrogravitic spaceship while wearing a prototype exosuit that augments reality into a role-playing game. The objectives? Locate a source of Helium-3. Plain and uncomplicated. Silas accepts, but on an Earth-like planet he comes across a seemingly unmanned crashed spaceship that has a remarkably similar aesthetic to his exosuit. As local Fauna attack him, the crashed ship’s AI hijacks his suit’s programming, fends off the the locals, and repairs itself by fusing with Silas’ ship. Silas soon finds himself in the midst of a war between two Kardashev type-3 civilizations vying for dominance over the Milky Way. With his new AI companion, Tracey, Silas decides to go on the run to keep Earth’s location secret. Contains profanity, gore, transhumanism, and eventual real-world LitRPG character stats and spaceship-building mechanics.

8 260Res Publica: Republic Among Monarchs
Leonhard has always questioned the idea of rulership. In this world of endless war and strife, he often pondered the validation of Monarchy and Republic. For the past decade, he had invested his life into studying it. Still, as the son of Patrician Pabio Zieten, head of one of the most prominent houses in the Republic of Iodeal, he found himself obstructed by the duties he must perform. These duties range from venturing into the post-succession war island kingdom, dealing with rivaling houses and even leading troops into the field of battle. It would seem as if he would never get the time needed to discover the way of rulership. But perhaps being involved in such politics would enable him to discover something much more important than he had originally hoped...
8 101Luster
Growing up with her recently deceased mother’s addiction and her own struggles with gender identity, June Fujiwara was not a nice person. Gaining powers from nearly being murdered didn’t change that, and neither did becoming a mercenary to fund her transition. It took horrific manipulation, the resulting trauma, and the family that helped her through it all. Luster is a derivative work based on Worm by Wildbow (John C. McCrae) that begins prior to Worm and although it doesn't show straight away, the story is very AU.
