《Heretic King》Heretic King - Chapter 26

As we were heading south towards Paris we began encountering more and more monsters. Since we were battling I called out Fen to help out. When Fen appeared I'm sure I caught a sparkle passing through Diana's eyes, it wasn't the usual Yan glint, it seemed more like when you see your favourite food or favourite song comes on the radio. Hopefully it's the latter over the former.
The enemies weren't much trouble especially with Diana and Fen helping out. We encountered Hobgoblins, Orcs and Trolls. All enemies I had beaten before.
Soon we had come close to Paris and saw the pillars of flame surrounding the vastly changed Eiffel Tower. The towers previous criss-cross iron look now appeared to be formed of rose thorns while the tip had turned into various different flowers, like one mismatched bouquet. Oddly the now plant-like tower was not catching alight with the pillars of flame right next to it.
Judging that the Eiffel Tower was now a dungeon, we headed towards it. On our way we noticed the Arc de Triomphe had also changed. Inside the archway there was a faint translucent shimmering screen, looking similar to a Stargate. Around the arc was 4 monsters taking up a direction each. They all looked similar to beastmen, each with a different animal spliced into them. There was a Boar, an Eagle, a Horse and what appeared to be some sort of lizard.
They appeared to be guarding the Arc for whatever reason. Maybe it actually was a Stargate? Maybe it linked to other famous gates like the Brandenburg gate, St.James Gate, the Arch of Triumph(North Korea) or the Gateway Arch? Either way we'd end up a good ways off from Paris. Might as well finish up our business here then see if it actually can teleport us.
As we slinked our way around the Arc trying to avoid getting detected, I noticed in the distance towards the Tower that there was a crowd of players fighting something. Once we got closer it was apparent that they were in-fighting. Or maybe it was group fighting? Either way it had nothing to do with me, except they were blocking the road.
"Should we make our way around or try and force our way through?" I asked Diana as either one worked for me, I'd let her choose.

"Let's just go around, it doesn't look like the group of idiots will be stopping any time soon and we may just earn their ire if we try force our way through"
"Alright then, go around it is." We saw a side road which seemed to lead to an adjacent street, we began making our way through and once we passed through we quickly turned to get to the other side of the previous street we were on.
Once we arrived the group was still fighting with vigor. As we were on the other side of them now we could see the leaders fighting.
For a week after the Renewal they were surprisingly weak. Were the monsters here just weaker or were the pair just really lucky?
As we turned to start heading towards the Tower the pair noticed us and shouted at us.
"Hey shithead where do you think you're going?"
"To the tower? Is there something wrong with that?"
"Of course there is! The tower is the property of my Bloody Boar group!"
"What are you saying you piece of shit! The tower is the property of our Parabellum group!"
"So I'm gonna guess this is the reason for you all to be fighting in the middle of the street? If so do you mind while you lot fight over property rights I pop into the tower and pop back out?"
"Are you making fun of us prick!? Oi Austin let's deal with this guy first then we can continue our fight!"
"Alright Fitz but this is the only time!"
Once they finished talking they began their sprint towards us. I sighed inwardly, I tried I honestly did try and ask nicely. Oh well.
When I inspected them earlier I already knew they were both melee classes. Austin was a fencer while Fitz was a Gladiator. The classes were only uncommon so I didn't expect much from them. Austin started with a piercing lunge with a lot of openings, seeing this I knew that Fitz wasn't going to be any better if he couldn't make use of all these openings. With a swift swipe, Austins arm was now dangling, bent oddly with his rapier on the floor. Fitz wasn't much better as although it wasn't his entire arm, since he was two handing his sword both of his hand were now out of commission. Seeing the disparity the two began to cower and screaming for their allies to help them. Seeing this I shouted at the crowd now advancing upon us.

"Oi, you lot. Your 'leaders' here attacked me for trying to enter into the tower and in one attack this is how they ended up. Now if you don't attack me and let me finish these two off, I will let you go but if not..." As I finished my sentence I began to emit about 15% of my bloodlust which caused nearly all of them to wet their pants. While the two so called leaders passed out as most of it was directed towards them.
"Any objections?" They all hurriedly shook their heads and began to run to wherever they thought safe. While I struck out at their two passed out 'comrades'.
With that charade done, Diana approached while holding Fen affectionately. Fen seemed to be enjoying herself so I let it be.
"I'm surprised you let that group off, I expected to see a repeat of the survivor camp." I feel like I may have made too big of an impression at our first meeting if that's what she thinks of me.
"Well there was not reason to kill them right? Besides the two eejit's the rest hadn't done anything to cause me to kill them. And either way it'd become boring if there were no small fry fumbling about later on wouldn't it."
Although the sentence started off pretty bright, it quickly devolved into a pretty sinister statement. Oh well it was my honest opinion.
As we reached the base, we could see how it truly had changed. I had once been here for a school tour, and to put it simply you could no longer walk underneath it as there was a wall of thick roots. On the wall of roots was a doorway, on it there were depictions of a small tree beginning to sprout and slowly becoming bigger and bigger. Don't tell me the Eiffel Tower is gonna become a World Tree. Although currently with it's 300 meter height it is merely a flower, imagine what a full tree would be like.
As we entered we were greeted with the familiar greeting.
You have entered the Legendary Dungeon, 'World Tower'
Inside we were met with monsters similar to the plant demons in Devil May Cry 4. With bladed limbs and flowers sprouting over their body they stumbled towards us with their stalk limbs. Knowing plants were weak to cold I got Diana to quickly freeze them down, as they got closer I managed to get an Inspect off.

It really was the fuckers from DMC4! How many crossovers does this world have!? Wait if these things are here does that mean Echidna is here? Oh shit, I hated that bitch in the game. I can finally get my revenge on her for making me spend hours trying to beat her. I could feel a grin creeping upon my face as we made short work of the Chimeras thanks to the slow from Diana. And with that a familiar notification appeared.
Level Up
Seeing that I checked my status and applied my unused skill points towards strength, and continued through the dungeon alongside Diana and Fen.

The Trespasser
Synopsis Following his di—instincts, David finds himself in a weird situation; the next thing he knows, he's in a different world, dying, and manhandled by a big-ass alien. When the Source comes to his aid, granting him the access that—like every other sapient—he's due, David barely manages to get out of the fight with his life intact, but is that enough? Of course it isn't. The very Source giving him powers is also poisoning him to death. Oh, there she is, the petite female alien. Will that be enough to save him? Of course it won't. If he wants to be saved, he has first to save himself. The only way to do so is by getting to know the world around him, but even before that... Why the bloody hell did I have to be called Deviant!? *** Blurb? Blurb. The Trespasser starts slowly, I believe I've written a decent world, and I want you to find out what it's all about, won't just throw it in your face because of *levels*. I do not like stories that don't make sense. David is not a murderhobo, he respects life and answers to the world and the weird situations thrown at him with irony and sarcasm; so you are looking for easy killing streaks, you will not find them here. So, a man finds himself into the wild? It's a different world, and yet he can breathe its air? Finds himself in a lucky-low-level zone? Oh, look at that, people speak English—how likely is that? So, nope, not for me, gentleman. You won't find anything of the likes here. Again, a man finds himself in a new world but only thinks about the system? Yeah, that's not exactly how it works. David will try to find out what it's really all about, what the aliens want, how they work, why is that Fay really helping him? You can kill somebody to get levels, and yet there is not even a form of police? Not gonna happen here. Man becomes suddenly overpowered in a world where people can live for thousands of years by having enough luck to face only lower-level people? Hahaha—nope. Lastly...Spaceships and fantasy with LitRPG... say what!? Well, what's wrong with that? Let's make it happen, shall we? *** You want even more info? Really? Alright... David will start from the very bottom of the food chain, so there will be a settling arc—it's inevitable. David will find true companions, with personalities and backstories, and they will have a life of their own. There will be enemies, and those enemies will have a life of their own, too; there will be no evil just because. The world-building will have true depth; it will not exist just because the protagonist visits it. There will be both Fantasy and (Soft) Sci-fi—yeah, you heard that right. There will be rationality to every action taken, as long as the characters are aware of what is going on. There will be a godly system. You will come to read because of the world-building, but you will stay for the characters. The dead stay dead, and you will weep for them. There will be no action without a reaction. Lastly, there will be laughs. Are you still up for it? Then get in but fasten your seatbelts because it's going to be a wild ride. *** Release Days: Twice a week Release Time: ~09:00 PM UTC Words per chapter: ~3000 This web novel is also available on other platforms.
