《Heretic King》Heretic King - Chapter 19

After viewing my status I quickly signalled to the others to come over so we can eat before going into the Dungeon.
After eating we quickly descended into the cellar, and into the Dungeon.
You have entered the "Tomb of Theseus" Dungeon.
Theseus? Where have I heard that? It is definitely a Greek legend cause of the -eus name ending. Wings of wax? No that was Icarus.
Medusa? No that was Perseus. Death of Eurydice? Not that either, that was Orpheus.
Ah! The Minotaur! That was it! Theseus is the slayer of the Minotaur! So this is the tomb of a demi-god? Now I'm not feeling so confident. I have got a long way to go before I can come close to a Demi-God let alone a full God. Well at the very least I can kill the basic monsters in the Dungeon and inspect the Boss. If it is in fact Theseus I am outta here.
Quickly I seen the first monster. It had the lower half of a man and the upper half of a horse. When I got closer for an inspect this was the info I got.
IpotaneIpotanes are a race of half-horse, half-humans. The Ipotanes are considered the original version of the Centaur.Level62Health12,000/12,000StatusN/AIt utilizes it's strong upper body to strike with brutal blows. Easy to set off balance.
I tried to put the tip that the inspect gave me and as soon as I dashed before it, I did a sweep with my staff. It immediately fell as it lost it's balance. They weren't kidding when they said that it lost it's balance easily. Knowing that Horse skulls were pretty sturdy I struck at it's legs to stop it from standing up. Once it was rendered immobile, I activated Soul Siphon. As I siphoned it's XP, it looked like it was visibly getting weaker and weaker until, it was barely able to lift it's own head. Seeing this I quickly struck it's chest with my staff and ended it.

From that soul siphon my XP was up 15% to the next level. Assuming that it wasn't the only Monster of it's kind in this place, I'd only need 5-6 more for a level up and a new unlock in the system.
And boy did the Dungeon not disappoint me. After less than two minutes I encountered a pair of them this time. It might seem difficult but it was easy as cutting cake. A sweep and a bit of limb breaking and they were fruit ripe for the picking. That put Fen up to Level 36, Julie was 37 and Jen was 39. As the party setting is set to equal split even if they do nothing they still get experience, though their skills will fall behind then. Once done with the dungeon I plan on making Julie and Jen go travelling by themselves to strengthen themselves, as I feel they have nothing to do in my company.
After another pair of Ipotane, I finally reached Level 40.
For reaching Level 40 you have unlocked the 'Affinity Laws System'This system allows you to create techniques and abilities based around your understanding of the element. These techniques and abilities can be sudden flashes of insight or from long periods of pondering.
So, Coiling Dragon? Does this mean I can find Sovereign Artifacts? Anyway back on topic.
So Blood is my highest in regards to affinity. So I can come up with techniques? If I was using a sword or another sharp weapon, blood would be a good affinity, but my weapon doesn't draw blood from my enemies unless they cough it up. I could use it as a self-improving technique like manipulating my blood to have more oxygen making it circulate faster, in essence improving my reactions.
This was why that Gunslinger was so confident? He must have had some cool technique. Shame he never got to use it.
For now I'll leave it, I won't have any chance for deep pondering so for now sudden flashes of insight are my only bet.

As we descended deeper into the tomb we saw a different creature, but one more easily recognized. A Minotaur.
"Inspect."
MinotaurA creature with the head of a bull and the body of a man. It's species are feared and thus kept in places where escape is impossible.Level68Health20,000/20,000StatusN/AIt's body is strong and sturdy, it deals heavy blows and can take a beating. It is slow and dumb to make up for this.
Ah the Minotaur we all know and love. A creature born from Bestiality caused by the oh so lovable Poseidon himself.
People always make God's out to be so pure but really they are more fucked up than us.
Either way, although the inspect again told me it's weakness, first I'd like to try it head on in Strength. My 1500 Strength is nothing to laugh at, and If I support that with Aura Condensement then it raises to another level. If need be I can also activate Berserk which by this point raises my Strength 300% so 4500. I don't think a mere Level 68 monster can deal with that.
I readied my staff, surrounding it in my Aura and began to charge at it. The Minotaur seemed mad that a (by the looks of it) human would dare challenge him head on. Only Theseus had done that to his ancestor and as evidenced by the tomb he was no longer a threat.
As the Minotaur swung it's Axe towards me, I quickly swiped my staff towards it. As our weapons met a gale of wind swept out with our weapons at the center. Although it looked like we were evenly matched if you looked closer you could see the Minotaur ever so slightly moving backwards. Seeing that I just barely had an advantage hurt my pride a bit, so I quickly activated Two Heads Four Arms.
As my new appendages came out, I changed the size and weight of my staff to suit my new form. As it's weight and power behind increased the Minotaur was now visibly being pushed back easily. It roared with red eyes, in a rage because of it's weakness. It seemed to also have the berserk ability. Now the sides had flipped. I was the one now visibly being pushed back.
Deciding to end the farce I activated my own Berserk. And there isn't much more needed to be said. It was unable to handle that amount of strength and died.
Oh well. Because my STR was higher I didn't get much from the Orb but I got a decent amount of FOR.
In front of us lay a large door. Although I would usually doubt a Dungeon would be this short, but to be fair it's a Tomb for one person. How big does it have to be? Besides that I could feel a pressure from behind the door that got my blood pumping and ready for a fight.
A/N So Chapter 19 DONE. How did you like the Dungeon and the Level 40 unlock? Now I gotta request your help with the techniques as this is where my personal abilities fall short. I am not very good with coming of techniques utilizing stuff he already has. My creativity lacks in that department. So If you can think of any techniques or abilities utilizing his Affinities leave them down below on any chapter following this one from now on, It would be really appreciated.
Anyway no second chapter tonight but I will be going through his skills and updating them and once I'm done with that I will release a skill thread.
Until then, Ciaossu.

Tim wakes up to find he is naked and alone in a fantasy world. However, he is not as alone as he first thought. There are other people running around all over the place fighting monsters for a living. Unfortunately for Tim, he seems to be one of those monsters. All while trying to keep alive a trio of adventurers hellbent on becoming legends. However, unfortunately for Tim, he is not the only one from earth to awaken in this world and the other Awakened aren't nearly so benevolent. Warning: The protagonist begins the story quite cowed and meek but progresses into a more assertive and situationally dominant personality. This is partly due to growth, but also a result of the character overcoming initial shock and longstanding depression. If you think I could have handled a segment better, by all means, point it out and provide your reasoning and suggestion. Everyone's experience of depression is different, and Tim's is a close representation of my own, so it won't necessarily 'vibe' with everyone. Chapters are around 15k words and released approx 1/week over the weekend. Has been reduced to around 7.5k to 9k to better fit my schedule.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
