《The Perfect Specimen》May Not Be So Bad

The small zombie realized that his mouth was moving in a strange and enjoyable way as he was looking at the woman in front of him. He found that this feeling was enjoyable that he wanted more of it. This woman seems to be able to give him this feeling, he wanted her to keep giving him this feeling so he stood still waiting for it to happen again.

The woman walked towards the man on the ground as they appeared to be communicating with each other. The man takes off what the small zombie thought was his skin. She then walks over and puts it over-top the zombies body and zips up the front.

The zombie begins wondering of why these people treat him so differently than the mob out front. Just as he thought about that, he feels a pressure on his neck. The moment he feels this, he falls into a trance like state and looks downward.

The next thing he notices is everything around him goes black, he is still able to see himself though. He feels as if his body is trapped in ice, unable to move. He sees a scene is playing out below him, one of a young boy in a room on a bed dying from some sort of disease, being kidnapped by a dark shadowy figure wearing a lab coat in the middle of the night.

The figure strapped the young boy on a lab table and waited until he had just died from the disease. However, when he had died, he started showing signs of coming back as a zombie, right as he was beginning to change. The figure then injected a white liquid with a small black swirl in its center, directly into the boys heart with a needle. Afterwards, the boy foamed at the mouth, then went completely still.

The figure seemed as if he had expected this, and the scene changed to one of the wilds, with sticks stuck in the ground and next to those sticks are mounds of dirt. The figure buried the boy in the mound and then left the vial that he used on top of the boys grave in some sort of ritualistic fashion.

He then walks away.

An unknown amount of time had past, until suddenly a bulky arm burst through the grave and the boy, or what seems to be more of a beast covered in scales, little with little bumps on his head shoots up from the ground as if a cat with it's tail stepped on. He breaths in deep breaths and looks towards the slightly glowing river next to the grave and sees his reflection. A hoarse enraged roar echoes for miles from it's epicenter of this young boy.

The scene changes rapidly as it shows the boy growing up, with his struggles and victories, gruesome scene after gruesome scene. All the way until the boy is now a monstrous creature with two huge horns and a bulky frame. The scene is currently showing the creature in front of the very hospital the young zombie is in currently. The young zombie watches the scene of the creature decapitating and eating a man standing outside. The creature then begins walking away with loud thuds, but suddenly stops and does something that causes the young zombie to feel an instinctual fear for his un-life.

The creature turns towards the young zombie, as if he could see him now when he couldn't earlier. and smiles a horrible blood and flesh filled smile. The entire scenery changed. This time, the creature was watching from above as he saw a young zombie fighting its way to the center of the pile and to get some food. He immediately charged into the pile after the boy got some food and grabbed his neck to throw him out of the group. Afterwards he looked back at the young zombie who was frozen in the sky watching this all play out and without moving his mouth, he spoke directly into the young zombies mind.

The voice was as if two rocks were grinding together, with a deep resentment in its voice, "You must grow stronger little one. Otherwise you will not survive this game you have been thrust into. You must eat to survive, and eat to grow. I save you now to savor you later. Grow up well, you're going to become part of me eventually after all" The monster releases a course chuckle it fades away into the distance, and leaves the young zombie there anxious and unsure of what is going on.

He suddenly feels two weights on his shoulder and is jolted back to reality. He sees Beth smiling at him again. This time though, it didn't bring him the comfortable feeling from before. When he saw her smile, he felt as if that monstrosity's smile was all he could see. He tried to put the smile back on his face but he couldn't feel as happy as he had been before. He could only feel a terrifying presence as if that monster is watching him from the shadows, and waiting.

In a constantly uncomfortable state since that vision, he sees the man who held the woman back approaching him and say something. Then the group starts conversing again until the woman speaks up and points to the little zombie.

In the hallway, Beth, Rodney, and Clem were debating on what to call the little boy. After many rounds of what it should be, Beth finally says, " This young man is going to be a part of an ascended household. He should have the first name of someone befitting the Brightstar name. Someone my brother would be proud to consider his son." Beth then turns the little boy around and points at him saying, "You shall be known as Alistair Brightstar. You will ensure that humanity has a bright future to look forward to." She folds her arms with a content smile and considers the matter settled.

Clem can't hold himself back from saying, "Have you two not realized the most important part to all this? Who can say if the boy can even become an ascended? It's a matter of luck as much as it is hard work!" Rodney then says, "We have our own ways to work around this. You needn't be concerned with this matter anymore. All we request is to return to the Utopia Sir Clem."

Clem says, "Fine then, I get paid all the same! Let's head out! My brother is probably a nervous wreck outside by now anyway." Clem chuckles playfully and the group plus one Alistair begin moving towards the exit. Alistair was unsure of why they were trying to leave suddenly and bring him along, but his mind was to preoccupied with that monstrosity to concern himself with this type of situation.

All he knew is that he has something out there hunting him, and these people seem to provide a modicum of safety that he is unable to feel by himself. So following them may not be so bad.
