《A Noble Isekai》Chapter 3

Chapter 3:
Jay would have really fooled anyone in the world at that moment if he claimed to be a prospector that just made the biggest find of his life.
Given the circumstances, Jay might have not even have considered it a lie if not for the fact that he had never prospected a day in his life.
However, Jay was not thinking about such matters.
Jay was, ”Hehehe, I really am better than all the others, I am destiny’s chosen child…” ...indisposed.
After awhile, he got tired of bragging to an ass, “What am I waiting for? What better place than here? What better time than now? ...And other Guerrilla Radio lyrics.”
Jay already knew what he wanted his other self to do, so with a great aplomb, he pressed the button.
“...”
And he watched the second hand slowly tick away.
Jay sighed, ”Well… shit, that leaves me fuck-all to do.”
The not-quite-so-emotionally-mature young noble ran through the list in his head.
“Don’t feel like jumping straight back in the pit to make proper shelter. Not after breaking my back digging up that crystal.”
“Can’t take a bath without wasting drinking water…”
“Got enough provisions to last for a coupla’ months.”
Jay did what he always did when he was indecisive, ”System, show available quests!”

Jay let his head hit the ground as he closed his eyes. “Tch… I ain’t touching those until my cheat goes through, but is that really it?”
The area was just under the level of a wasteland. It has many more places with water than the desert, but was almost as barren. Mostly clay and dirt with the odd tuft of grass here and there. One could count the trees on the horizon.
A thought struck Jay, ”Of fucking course there wouldn’t be people in need or trials to be had here. There isn’t a single sign of civilization out here for hundreds of gilopaces!”
Jay didn’t really know what a ‘gilopace’ was. He didn’t receive a proper education here, after all. All he knew was that it took roughly a day to walk that far in good conditions.
It took Jay roughly 10 minutes before he stumbled over what he wanted to do for the rest of his day.

The ability to measure what does and doesn’t increase his level may prove to be invaluable to Jay down the line, but the young noble couldn’t help but be a little downtrodden, ”Hah… I guess there really isn’t anything like health points or stats here, huh?”

Still, Baron Northsand could always smell an opportunity, ”If not stats… System scan, description!”

Jay was flabbergasted, he’d had that skill for over a year, and still remembered the visible difference it had made when it popped up.
It was this discovery that made Jay get off his ass, ”Motherfucking 0.06!? I could have done that on the road! Or… lack thereof. But still, it’s not like me keeping watch ever actually made a godsdamned difference!”
Then, throughout the rest of the day, Jay went back to what he did at the beginning of his training. He threw every single pop culture swordsmanship reference he could at the wall, and saw what stuck.
He wouldn’t admit it to anyone, but he actually got the swordsmanship skill when he was trying to find the best way to quickly and fluidly draw his blade.
Huffing and puffing, Jay was trying his hand at 'visualisation training' again, "Backstep, opening, counter! ...and blocked, I'm dead. Phew, come on, Jay, do this and you'll be able to make strides in your swordsmanship again. Forget a week's worth of training, if you get another insight into actual swordsmanship, you could get that boost today!"
And so, Jay trained in the way of the sword all day and into the night, using the excuse of promised rewards to pour himself into training as a coping mechanism. A coping mechanism for the crushing mental stress of being completely void of human contact for four and a half months.

Dragon Hack
Rich's life sucks. He lives in a dystopia, His father's an abusive creep, his mother's up to some shady stuff, and he's pretty sure he's going to die a virgin. He can't do much about the first few problems, but a new darknet game might give him a shot at getting laid. But even the most well-laid plans go astray, and he ends up with way, way more than he bargained for. He gains a character with the rarest of all races: Dragon. But it's a two-way street, and strange occurances and problems soon have Rich wondering if this is truly a game, or something far more sinister... WARNING: Contains verbal abuse and harsh language. The language and sentiments used do not represent the views of the author. The dystopia portrayed is meant to be a cautionary tale, rather than a criticism of any existing group or political faction. 8 239Where did I wake up?
A pretty standard story about a man that gets transferred to a new world, and gains a system to help him survive. This is pretty close to the first draft of this story, so there will be grammar mistakes until I get down to fixing them. Synopsis, genre and tags will also change as I get more writing done. I will try to release two to three short chapters a week. I don't own the cover image; it is just something I found online.

In this world, there are haves and have nots. The former are pureblooded humans, some of whom are capable of manipulating qi, the mysterious energy that flows through every living creature, to miraculous results that defy the laws of nature and physics. Wen Feili was one such cultivator. However, she allied with the have nots- the anthropomorphic hybrids incapable of channeling qi-and dabbled in forbidden demonic arts, seeking to change the very composition of reality. This did not end well for her, and she was consumed by her own flames. A decade later, far in the northwestern mountains, her daughter Wen Fengli is working as a lowly servant of the minor Shuangshan sect. In between sweeping the floor and avoiding bullies, she secretly trains with a wooden sword, hoping to become a warrior cultivator at some point in the future. However, since she's part-human, part-wolf, it's just a pipe dream. ....or so she bitterly thought. However, one day a mysterious amulet that belonged to her mother falls into her hands. A deranged old master, a terrible conspiracy, a mysterious past? None of that matters to tomboyish wolfgirl, who only seeks to become stronger. She embarks on a journey of adventure and self-discovery, towards the mysterious southern lands where pure demi-humans are said to live...as spectre of war once again envelops the world of man. This is a Chinese-themed fantasy story set in a fictional world. You can classify it as xianxia, if you wish, but it's a rather low fantasy variant; the heavenly realm is silent, no one reached immortality in generations, and magical artifacts of old are locked away and feared. Magical beasts and spirits have been driven to the corners of civilisation, and "ordinary" abilities such as flying or controlling swords through telekinesis are considered spectacular feats. The main plot of this book revolves around a kemonomimi girl who seeks power, no matter the cost. This story also features multiple character pov, and will not always follow the perspective of the mc- there are two major plotlines, one connected to conspiracy and war ongoing in the political background of the presented world, and the other focusing on the main character's physical and metaphorical journey. The cover image was drawn by minyaxj, per my request, on a commercial license.

8 140Real Fake World
An original fiction of the Isekai sort, people being sent to another world. I go back in time and send my whole classroom into the other world, as heroes, it might be overly biased and not make a lot of sense in a few parts, I wrote it in a hurry long ago, so enjoy, 1 chapter per day.
