Chapter 14 Relaxing days
After Alice started helping the doctor, she got a better grasp of her powers, finding her limits, what she could and could not do and so fourth. Time flew by. After John had told Kyle about the still mill in his hometown, Kyle had arranged for a trailer to go there and pick up as much metal as they could. Lucky for Kyle the steel there came in very long rods. When his men came back with the steel he shoved a massive amount of steel through his chest, rod after rod of steel would just disappear into his chest. Eventually Kyle also experienced a massive increase in power. His guns shot faster, longer and stronger.
With this qualitative leap in power, Kyle had an idea and ran around his entire arsenal of weapons and touched everything he could. Kyle had a massive arsenal of weapons and not just weapons, anti air trucks, half tracks and full tracks, as well as different tanks and such. Kyle was in every sense of the word a gun nut, before god’s announcement he had used a massive fortune, both inherited and earned to buy a gigantic collection of all kinds of weaponry.
After touching most of his weapons, he touched a 57mm anti air gun. After he touched it, that gun turned into liquid that quickly flowed into his hand. After it was all gone, he was able to turn his arm into the 57mm anti air gun, this was a large boost in power for him. Although its power was not even close the John’s dark spear, he was still able to fire of an incredible amount of cannon rounds from a good distance away.
After John had killed Molotov life in bullet town was quite relaxing, since all the attacks had completely stopped. Many of the inhabitants were very happy for this reason, some of the people that were captivated by Molotov had also made their way over to bullet town and after being told that John was the werewolf that saved them, looked at him with twinkling eyes filled with hope. They thanked him with all their heart for saving them from the gruesome fate of being sucked do death.

After John and Kyle had both made a leap in strength he concluded that if you consume enough of whatever it is you need to consume to get stronger, you get a qualitative leap in strength. So, John and Luna went out into the forest. John made sure to stay as close to the edge of the forest as he could. He would kill things and Luna would eat the hearts. Eventually they came across a mountain lion, however this one was the same as the moose. It had purple claws on all four paws that were glowing with energy. Its eyes were the same, purple with a distinct madness swirling inside them. Its veins were same as well, pulsating with power and bulging outwards.
John decided to use this opportunity to test out his spear against a worthy foe. Staying a hundred or so feet away, John charged up his spear, which took a lot less time then it did previously, and threw it out at an incredible speed. The mountain lion had no time to react, as the spear hit him square in the shoulder, going straight through to the other side. John decided to wait a bit to see, however after a little while nothing happened.
So, with Luna in tow they both slowly snuck forward. Once they got there, all that was left was the back half of a mountain lion, two paws with nothing attached and a heart. The dark spear had consumed most of the mountain lion, but not the heart, it was left over for John. He picked it up and gave it to Luna, who accepted it happily. This time luckily there was no gigantic beast or roar, but John wouldn’t rule out the possibility that something was lurking in the forest, so he dared not go any further.
John and Luna continued their days like this, and after eating a second purple mountain lion heart she also experienced a qualitative leap in strength. Similar to John’s evolution some special things started happening. After she ate the heart, black clouds with lightning coursing through it, and one of them violently lashed out and hit Luna. After it hit her, lightning started coursing through her.

Luna was momentarily shocked, but it didn’t hurt, she actually felt quite comfortable. After a short while the clouds were gone and John and Luna was once again alone. “Do you feel any different?” John quizzed. “Mm” Luna answered, she felt much more powerful. Luna lifted her hand, as she did her claws had lightning coursing through them, and small arcs of lightning were jumping in-between her claws, like a taser. “Neat” John said with a smile. Once again Luna felt like John wasn’t to far away from her again, at least he shouldn’t be able to wipe the floor with her.
John and Luna spent several days in bullet town relaxing. They were in no hurry to do anything. John noticed that Kyle was getting quite friendly with Alice, however he didn’t mind. Love sprouts where it feels like. Of course, Kyle acted like a gentleman, Alice had lost her husband not long ago after all.
Everyday John would walk around town, talking to people such as Dave. Who had actually gotten another mystery metal that the mines had found while digging. Dave was happily hammering away at this new metal he had gotten, he really was a man who loved metals.
John and Luna would take walks along the dirt roads going out from bullet town. John felt the air in Bullet town was stuffy and everything smelled like metal. However, even when going a mile away one could still smell the hint of metal and coal in the air. He also wanted to use up some of his energy, even if it was just a little bit of it. John of course went around as a werewolf, just to be safe.
John and Luna spent their days like this, talking with people, taking walks and eating a couple hearts now and then. However, as time went on John felt more and more confident. He wanted to walk around as a human, he was tired of having to all the time be a werewolf. Eventually he decided that he was sure the dirt roads were safe. Who would be out here in this remote location anyway?
John in human form and Luna as a wolf, walked along the dirt path, enjoying the scenery. John was quite happy about being able to properly stretch his legs, his human legs. John and Luna continued like this for almost a mile, everything seemed normal. However, John smelled something foul in the air. He couldn’t tell what it was. John instantly went on high alert. Thinking back, John wished he had transformed at this moment.
Suddenly he felt something behind him, he didn’t even have the time to transform, he just turned around and punched as hard as he could. Behind him was a man who John hit square in the face. John felt like he had just punched a steel plate. Even so the man flew backwards from the incredibly strong punch. However, the damage was already done. John felt his consciousness get fuzzy, he wanted to transform but he wasn’t able to.
Next to him Luna had already fallen over. John saw several men come out from seemingly nowhere. John could just barely see the several men walking slowly towards him as well as the man he punched get up from the ground with a massive indent in his face, before John fell over, face first. John swore in his heart, if he survived this he would never go around as a human.

They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
