Please give me feedback on this chapter in this thread and rate the series!
I've written a couple chapters after this but they aren't to my liking to the way I wanted the story to go so the next couple of days I'll need to plan this next part a bit more detailed than I did before. Hopefully have a chapter tomorrow we shall see depending on how my planning goes today.

Chapter 38: Action
The leader was in front so I needed to try and dispatch him first. Perhaps that would scare a few of them away. I needed to make sure I avoided the sledgehammer holder as that could be rather nasty if that hit any part of my body. The daggers I would also need to be careful that they don’t try and stab me as I am otherwise preoccupied. While I felt calm I also felt an excitement that I could feel came from my swords. I guess the thoughts and emotions transfer was a two way street.
I diagonally slashed at the leader of the group. He seemed to have been prepared for that and parried away. I readied myself, cursing myself for not killing him the first time. I noticed though that where he had parried seemed to have a dark blackish spot probably left from my sword Dark. It seemed even though I tried suppressing its powers I was not experienced enough to completely hold back its power. I had been slightly preoccupied by this discovery when I felt from my left hand holding Light that I was in danger. As I raised my arm holding Light I knew that I had acted to late. The offending mans sword was about to cut through me when I felt energy from me get drained and my sword Light glowed with a shining aura that completely blocked the man’s strike. He let out a surprise gasp he let back and put himself on guard.

The leader of the group angrily shouted, “Damn it, it’s a magician. Be on your guard we can’t let him escape!”
I thanked my lucky stars that somehow I had gotten out of that first foray unharmed but knew I couldn’t be careless anymore. I readied myself in the Rock style stance and prepared to fight my way out of this group who must have numbered at least 20. I knew I couldn’t hold back. I switched on my Magic Eyes (which I felt was an apt name) and saw how much energy they had. Compared to a lowly lizard they seemed to have far more energy than I had realized. Dark hummed as it softly suggested that I take energy from those around me.
One of the bandits mistakenly thinking that I was not ready struck out with their dagger at my midriff. I parried with my sword of Light and stabbed out with Dark. Dark hungrily devoured the energy in the bandit and I felt a rush of the energy come through. A mix of confusion and fear as the thief felt his energy leave his body. I pulled out my sword and cut the connection as he fell into darkness.
A sense of fear and dread spread through out the group I was fighting as they realized what had happened.
“Monster!” A couple of them screamed as they ran away scared at the scene I had seen.
“Any of you want to meet the same fate?” I pointed my swords at those around me. A couple more fled and the rest took a step back. Finally I had some breathing room.
I readied myself for the second assault. I stabbed with Light who struck out and using some of the newly gained energy from Dark launched those I struck at the walls of the alleyway. Their lifeless bodies fell down to the ground with a disgusting splat. I felt some of the energy leave my body as I expended it through Light. The bandits on my left side who had just witnessed the power of Light turned tail and screamed as they ran away.

The Bandit Leader knowing that the tide of the battle had changed gestured for his henchmen to retreat. They backed away slowly and I readied myself for any false step they make to attack me. They melted in the darkness as if they had never been there. I held onto my swords till the end of the alleyway just in case any of them tried to attack me. None of them did luckily as I felt mentally tired from that battle. I slogged my way to a nearby café, the other people in the café seemed rather wide-eyed as I sat down.
I looked at my appearance in the café window and saw that I had splotches of blood around me from those I had stabbed with my swords. I sheathed my swords in their hilts and sat down.
“One coffee.” I gestured to the waiter of the café and he ran back into the café and as he entered he tripped on the doorway and fell down. By that time I was too tired to care and dozed off. By the time I had woken up a cup of lukewarm was next to me. I drank sipped the espresso as I savored the taste of life. Taking the lives of those bandits made me feel sick. In my previous life I had never even killed as much as a fly. But I knew this was a different world with a different set of rules. That was what I told myself, convincing myself that the killing was necessary for me to survive.
Was my life worth the lives of all those bandits I had killed? I had promised myself that I would protect myself and survive. They wanted to kill me and I wanted to kill them it was as simple as that I surmised. I had won that’s why they had lost their lives.
By the time I had finished the coffee I felt better. This was different from the killing the lizard which was an innocent life. These people had meant to kill me and me them. I had just been more successful. In future battles I couldn’t hesitate when I take someone’s life as others wouldn’t have the same preconceived notions as I had. There would be time after to feel bad about deaths in the heat of battle but in the middle of a battle was definitely the absolute worst time to feel bad about it.
I made my way slowly back to the lodging after I asked for directions from the terrified waiter in the cafe and opened the door and stepped in.

The American Dream: An Alternate, Time-Travel Timeline
Due to a mysterious transcendent being, United States Marine Corps First Lieutenant Samuel Kim from the year 2016 is thrown back in time to the year 1775. To make matters worse, he wakes up near Bunker Hill, mere hours before the famed Battle of Bunker Hill is set to begin. Realizing the unique situation he finds himself in, the lieutenant takes the opportunity to change the fate of the battle and ensure an overwhelming American victory. Guided by his "patronizing" "God" and the American revolutionaries, Lieutenant Kim embarks on a journey to help America gain its independence and to ensure the nation uphold its "most promising" ideals from the very beginning. Author's Warning: The story is very rough in the first few chapters (and as some readers pointed out, some parts are laughable, such as "American idealism"). However, the pace and quality of the story improves from chapter four and onwards. You will enjoy the story if you have some interest in history, worldbuilding, and the butterfly effect (along with a few badass characters). So even if you are a bit turned off in the beginning, I promise that the story improves quickly.
