Chapter 34: The Light
“The Light?” I asked, “The Light I guess represents the Good. Right?”
“Perhaps, but the Light is not as clear cut as you may assume.”
“But the Light represents the purity of the soul, the goodness within us all.”
“But just like anything in the world clear cut differences prove worse than a grey area.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“One may believe that they are working for the good but in fact be doing the complete opposite. A famous quote explains this, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions” Being single-mindedly set on one path is wrong. The embodiment of light believes itself right in all cases but as you and I know beings are all flawed. Therefore their “Light” or “Rightness” could be considered wrong.”
“Wait a moment you are considered the Good and the Right, if we are to believe what my world says about you. Wouldn’t that mean that you wrong?”
“I never said I was right, I even said I wasn’t omnipotent. If you only act on the completely right then as the quote goes you will eventually go down the evil path.”
“That is what you mean coexistence with Evil?”
“Yes correct, therefore make decisions on what you believe is correct not on what is considered the “right” way by others.”
“So going back to the sword of Light, what impact does this have?”
“The sword of Light can be considered the antitheses of Dark, as you might imagine but in the same way it is similar. Dark and Light can be considered opposites but they share the same characteristics. They wish to be the dominant force in the world, they wish to influence those around for their own “side”.”

“So what does this have to do with the sword Light?”
“The sword Light, is perhaps more fickle than Dark as it is appeals to your own goodly intentions, it wishes you to protect everything but you can’t. It wishes you to destroy the Dark but without the Dark to compare the Light can not exist. While the Dark wishes to devour the Light wishes to protect. In a basic sense if you throw your energy into it will protect what you hold dear. No matter the cost.”
“So this works in a sort of synergy with Dark?”
“Absolutely correct, the Dark takes away energy while the Light uses energy to protect. Being able to use both is key to being successful in this world for you.”
“So without the Dark I would be unable to use the Light to protect as it would cause my death but without the Light I could be the one being devoured and therefore lose my life.”
“Yes.”
“Damn that’s tough.”
“I didn’t say it was easy but it is the path you have chosen by choosing these swords and choosing this path.”
“So what about Emi’s swords?”
The Almighty God “Greg” vanished my swords and magicked Emi’s into existence. Just like my own they exuded an aura, one an intense burning fury and the other a cold indifference that would be equal to any fury that that the other had.
“Fire and Ice, were another pet project of mine. They dealt more with emotion than Dark and Light. They were perhaps another side to a sentient being’s thoughts. The cool, calculating and logical side and the hot, passionate ad emotional side, both of which form the major parts of a sentient being’s thought process. Always at odds but both of vital importance to a person’s very being.”

“So what are their intentions and desires?” I asked wondering about their difference compared to my own Dark and Light.
“These ones are far more vague but easier to control. However understanding them is the most important part to being able to control their powers. In a way utilizing them every day would be easier but it is as hard to master as your very own Dark and Light.”
The sword Fire moved and started floating around me. It’s very core seemed to imitate the very passion that any human is capable of.
“Fire is uses the feelings of a person and those around them to power itself up. It translates those into power but the quality of this power really depends on the user. If the feelings of a person are too much then the sword Fire could draw too much from those around and overwhelm the user with its power. Much in the same way Dark does.”
The sword Fire disappeared from view and Ice took it’s place. Its cool aura tingled all the way to my core and shook me.
“Ice on the other hand uses cold calculating power to both be used as a blunt weapon to stun a person but its true purpose is to launch a mental attack on those the user deems its enemy. In this way perhaps Fire and Ice are similar they both use the user’s willpower in order for their true power to be released. Beware a strong mind is needed to handle such a mentally debilitating task.”
“Jesus,” I mean Greg… in my innermost mind I thought, “that’s strong.”
“They all have their strengths and weaknesses it depends on how, why, when, who and where you use them.”
“They are a lot more complicated than I thought.”
“But isn’t that the fun?”
“The fun? You know about fun?”
“I perhaps don’t know how to describe fun but the Journey in which you take to master these will be far more exciting and revealing than anything your past life would be. Isn’t that what fun is?”
“I don’t know but I guess that’s part of what I need to figure out. Is this what innate magic is for?”
“That’s for you to decide and find out about.”
As he said that everything around faded into the light and I saw Emi’s face looking rather worried. I wasn’t laying on the ground but rather on her lap. Ah the much sought after lap pillow. How very nice… I closed my eyes and smiled.
“Hey Clover are you awake? I was worried about you when you collapsed after killing that queen.”
“Yeah I’m feeling okay a lot of things happened I guess.”
“Really?”
“I’ll tell you later about it.”
I fell asleep exhausted after a very tiring day. I could feel a gaze looking at Emi and I but I was too tired to care.
