《*DISCONTINUED*》Chapter 16 : Luo Ai

Feng Xing opened the door. Everything indeed was tidied up more than the last time he saw this room. Rou Xue was currently sitting on the bed cultivating. It seems to be that she is actually using a cultivation manual. Feng Xing recognized it immediately. It was the . A supreme cultivation manual, by cultivating with this manual she would be able to boost her power tremendously after breaking through to the Martial Path realm, especially combined with her bloodline... her power and physique would be terrifying.
Feng Xing moved closer and stared at the current cultivating Rou Xue. White Energy revolved around her, she suddenly felt like she was being watched. Her face twitched a little bit, but her eyes were still closed. Feng Xing looked away and also sat down to cultivate, at some point she will wake up anyways.
In this manner two hours passed by within a blink, Rou Xue was starting to open her eyes. Her cultivation session was almost enough to let her breakthrough to the Martial Path realm, she knew sooner or later she would atleast be able to step into that realm.
"...Eh.." Rou Xue opened her eyes just to see someone across her cultivating...
"......"
Feng Xing seemed to notice that Rou Xue was done, and also woke up, they were now staring at each other, Rou Xue didn't know what to say and worried that she has been found out, while Feng Xing seemed to be amused by this.
...The silence remained for a good while... suddenly Rou Xue couldn't stand the silence anymore. She broke the silence by saying : "For how long have you been here?"
She stared intensely at Feng Xing.
"Hmm, I just entered the room. Why?"
After hearing that Rou Xue had a moment of relief, "Sigh... next time I definitely won't try to breakthrough again carelessly..."
Previously, after she was done with cleaning, she felt that the moment was right to breakthrough. She felt way to tempted so tried it, she didn't expect Feng Xing to return this fast though...
Luckily after hearing Feng Xing's words, she felt relief. He couldn't have seen her cultivate right? That's what Rou Xue thought. Unfortunately for her Feng Xing didn't only see her cultivate, but also knew that she cultivated with a special cultivation manual. This was something that Rou Xue would not know.....
"Not bad, although there are very little changes... it got less messier atleast." Feng Xing smiled, he approved of her cleaning skills currently.
For some reason Rou Xue felt very proud of herself after hearing Feng Xing's words.
"Of course." Rou Xue smiled brightly, as if she finally got acknowledged by Feng Xing.
Feng Xing looked at her with weird eyes, but that didn't matter he quickly changed his look. It was time to ask her an important question, since she was his maid. She also deserved to get guided personally by him.
"Say... you. Would you like to explore the Dao of Alchemy?"
"Dao of Alchemy?" Rou Xue had a bewildered look on her face, she probably never heard of this before. Well it was normal considering her cultivation base currently. Feng Xing immediately changed his words, so it was considered understandable for the current her.

"Hmm, you seemed like you wanted to become a high rank Pill Master?" Feng Xing asked.
"Oh, of course I want to become a high rank Pill Master! Who doesn't?" This seemed to be one of Rou Xue's current goals, that's why Feng Xing asked. He noticed that she was pretty confident and passed the previous test pretty fast compared to a normal person.
"Hehe, that's good then. I can teach you if you want guidance." Feng Xing said while smirking, Rou Xue obviously sneered at the sight of this. Who did he think he was? Only passing the simple test with a fast speed doesn't mean that he can teach pill concocting directly.
"No, thanks. I don't need any guidance currently." Rou Xue refused the offer immediately with no hesitation, although she believed Feng Xing was out of the ordinary, but he couldn't also be good in pill concocting just as his martial prowess right? Otherwise.... he would be a crazy genius.
Feng Xing seemed to be a bit disappointed in Rou Xue's answer, but it wasn't to important. It was her own choice after all, he wouldn't force anyone. He would give them a chance, but if they refused, then he wouldn't go any further. He slightly felt that Rou Xue would sooner or later still want his guidance. Feng Xing smiled after thinking it through.
"Hmm, I see. That's unfortunate." Feng Xing kept the smile and said nonchalantly like it didn't matter at all.
"It's about time I go, it's getting late." Rou Xue stood up and prepared to leave.
"Ehh? Your room is just right beside mine, why not stay for a bit longer? Your Master also needs some company..." Feng Xing asked teasingly, Rou Xue seemed to be disgusted by his attitude. It was normal after all, but Feng Xing didn't seem to mind this. He just wanted to see her reaction and how their relationship currently was. Just as expected... she hated him probably.
"No, thanks. Bye." She left and closed the door leaving Feng Xing alone. Feng Xing suddenly remembered something, but didn't do anything and continued cultivating. He was approaching the 8th Rank of the Martial Path. Soon he would reach it!

The Realm of Gods
In a desolate area that seemed to be completely destroyed by something... currently were two figures standing across each other. Two heavenly beautiful women were currently battling each other, one of them had a tattoo on their arm that resembled a dragon, while the other had pure white hair and deep eyes that seemed to contain the universe and dao itself. They both seemed to use all their daoist magics, battle skills, and Dao understandings! After a very long time, one of the two suddenly fell on their knees...
"Haah..." The girl who was currently standing was the one with the tattoo, she was panting a bit, but right after she smiled a deep cold smile full with hatred towards the girl who was currently on her knees, unable to stand up.
"Hahahaha! Even you can't defeat me currently! With the power I've gained from the Dragon God!" The girl with the tattoo shouted at the girl, the other girl currently had an unyielding look.

"You... slut... after betraying him... you even joined... the Dragon God's group.." The girl seemed to have a deep hatred for the girl with the tattoo.
"Shut up! What do you know about me!?" The girl immediately rebuked.
"He only showed you good will! He never cared about me at all in the end!"
After hearing that. The girl who was kneeling down suddenly had a confused expression on her face and said : "What are you talking about? He was the one who saved you and cared for you!"
"Hmph, Luo Ai... what would you understand! Well it doesn't matter since... it's time for you to join him." The girl showed a cruel smile, she deep full killing intent.
After hearing those words, Luo Ai immediately used a treasure that wasn't supposed to be used! Her last resort!
"You!" The girl with tattoo suddenly speeded across and quickly wanted to finish her off.
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiuuuw
Blinding light suddenly appeared from Luo Ai, and she suddenly spurted out a mouthful of blood, and disappeared right after. The girl with the tattoo was to late and could only attack air...
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!" The girl screamed like a crazy beast. She knew that the treasure Luo Ai used was a common one, but nobody in the Realm of Gods would use that one... as it would reduce your cultivation base by atleast a full realm! She couldn't chase her either... since she went to the Realm of Mortals! Only by reaching the Ascension Realm once again could one return to the Realm of Gods... but that was easier said than done! Nobody would risk going back to the Realm of Mortals! Reaching the Ascension Realm was as hard as reaching the heavens!
"......" The girl quickly faded away into thin air. Her job was actually done... Luo Ai was no longer here in this world atleast...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Feng Xing suddenly felt his heart tingle slightly... he woke up from his cultivation and frowned... he checked his body all over, but couldn't find anything weird with it. After a while he paid it no attention and continued cultivating throughout the night. What he didn't know was that someone he knew actually descended down to the Realm of Mortals...
Suddenly blinding right flashed in a forest not to far from the Southern Nantian Kingdom, after the light ended a girl was currently almost unconscious. She immediately didn't care for her whereabouts and tried to heal herself with pills. She also talked to someone in her head for a while. They seemed to be figuring things out.
A few hours later.
The girl currently was cultivating to heal up ... she still was bleeding a bit from her mouth. The internal injuries she received were not healed completely yet. It would take a few years for it to heal completely, but she still consumed her best pills. She finally opened her eyes, this girl was Luo Ai...
"....My cultivation base..." She sighed... she dropped from the 4th Rank of the Ascension Realm to the... 4th Rank of the Dao Realm and she was even weakened! Although the Dao Realm was already an unreachable realm for many people...
For her.. the strength of a Dao Realm cultivator was like an ant compared to her previous strength. It was painful, but she didn't regret her choice... she would of have been dead by now if she had not done that. Suddenly she heard a voice in her head.
"Master! Summon me now, It's important!" A soft quiet voice resounded in her head. She seemed to be a bit confused, but still summoned a creature that looked like a huge cat with dark blue fur. The beast seemed to have sensed something.
"What's wrong, Dio?" The girl asked curiously, what was so important in this lower Realm? There wasn't anything interesting at all, but Dio still seemed to be concentrating.
"I sense someone familiar... but no.. it can't be!" The beast named Dio seemed to have a shocked expression.
"What? Who is it..." Luo Ai seemed to be very curious now. Who would be familiar? This was the Realm of Mortals, it had been quite a while since she last was here...
"...He's supposed to be dead... but I have to see it with my own eyes. Only feeling his soul wouldn't be enough to confirm it!"
"Dead? Who are you talking about?" The girl frowned, Dio still didn't answer her. Dio seemed to be way to shocked.
"Master... do you remember... Jiang Hao?"
"Of course, I do... but what does that matter currently... besides he's already..."
"The soul I just felt could be his since it's just so familiar!"
"What!?!?! That's impossible! I saw him die with my own eyes!" Luo Ai had an expression of disbelief on her face, but somewhere deep in her heart she hoped that it was truly him. Slight tears fell out from her eyes when she remembered him once again. That one person she was indebted to for the rest of her life...
In his last moments, she could do nothing... but stay at the sidelines to watch.... everything unfold itself... powerless to help. She truely hated herself for being to weak that moment...
At the thought of possibly seeing him once more, her heart tightened.
"Where is it tell me!"
Dio immediately gave her the location, suddenly she and Dio immediately disappeared into thin air. Teleportation was used to immediately travel through space to reach their destination fast. Dao Realm cultivators usually use this to travel very fast! Although Luo Ai was weakened, simple teleports were still easily usable.
"Hmm?" Feng Xing opened his eyes. He felt something... suddenly... two figures appeared in his room...

Don't easily bow down to anyone, or accept suppression by any being, not even from a monarch, unless you pledge your allegiance to him. Also, giving in to oppression is directly telling the oppressor that you're easy prey and open for manipulation." He is uncertain on how to face this oppression right now. Will he bows or not? What will he do to uphold his father's words while keeping his life safe? As for the prince, Theodrech has nothing to do with Freidrech, so he wishes to let this slip, but the boy opens his mouth and proposes the most ludicrous challenge he ever heard and triggers his curiosity. "I, Freidrech Goederf Gerboud, son of the late Village Chief Louvel Gerboud of Wrilon, will challenge you, Your Highness, to a battle of riddles… If you win, I will not only bow but be your servant for the rest of my life." This amuses the prince. It is the first he met a boy of the same age who is not intimidated by the air of authority he projects. Rather, this boy challenges him. "Why are you so headstrong? In fact, bowing to me is an honor. You saw the King's noble Knights. When they saw me, they bowed," says Theodrech, testing Freidrech. "Allow me to be forward, Your Highness. For me, bowing to a monarch does not guarantee loyalty. If I were you, I rather have men who stand straight in my presence but who got my back, than bowing men who are dreaming of my death," replies Freidrech. The prince’s curiosity increases. A huge smile is seen on his face. Prince Theodrech decides to take Freidrech under his wing. 8 156Iron and Wood - A Tale Of Empire and Clans
For centuries, the Midlands had been split into fragments. A once glorious, united Empire has become a shadow of its former self. Unity has not returned, and not for the lack of trying. The greatest of these successor states were the Li Dynasty to the south, the rulers of old, and the Emerald Empire to the North, with its vibrant vitality. Unity is the end goal, and both will sacrifice anything to attain this elusive dream. For unity would surely solve the conflict that had long plagued this once prosperous continent. The Ironwood Clan was a prime player. Some would consider them the ones holding the reigns to the horse named 'Unification'. Iron and wood were the backbones of civilization; similarly, the Ironwoods were the backbones of the Northern Empire, and by extension, the people of the Midlands. Their methods, as questionable as they might be, had strengthened the North. Yet, were they enough? In the midst of it all, a young Ironwood who had lost his path must once again find his way. For the sake of his own wellbeing; for the sake of his clan; and for the sake of the Empire and its subjects. However, is he willing to sacrifice for the good of all? Is he willing to condemn some for the sake of others? Is he willing to make the right, albeit harsh, decisions? Only the heavens would know. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, events and incidents are the products of the author’s imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. Additionally, any views and beliefs expressed by the characters are not the author's own. The story is also not an endorsement of any actions taken within. The 'profanity' and 'sexual content' warning tags are there to be safe (and to leave room for potential future changes), but for now these two things are not inside this novel. This is my take on 'cultivation', though it might be somewhat disconnected from the general idea of the genre. Release schedule: Two chapters a week. The cover was created using wombo art. While I believe that creations using the app are in the public domain, if that is not the case, I will take it down.
