Basic Information About The World:

-"200 years ago, at the peak of the industrial age, an apocalypse was caused due to reasons that we do not yet know. Some say that someone, or something, caused all the nuclear bombs in the world to go off at once. However, that doesn't explain the core of the earth, itself, rupturing like the yolk of an egg and reaching toward the surface which caused tectonic changes the likes of which had never been seen before. Billions were killed by the earthquakes, storms, and tsunamis. It took decades for all the catastrophic effects to die down and stop. When the remaining humans crawled out of the havens that they had used to wait for the cataclysm to pass, they realized that a new species had been born: Teras."

-"The tectonic movements and the heat of the core which reached the surface caused much of the oceans to evaporate, resulting in a planet with much more land than before. In essence, the figures shifted: where before there had been 70% water and 30% landmass, after the apocalypse, the ratios shifted to more than 70% landmass and 30% water. Some say that the size of the Earth, itself, changed."

That was also when this name was given to them. Originally, they were just going to be called monsters, but the leaders of humanity then, who had risen up to take charge when no one else was willing to, decided that a specific name was needed to differentiate these special. They derived the name from an ancient language called 'Greek', in which the word 'Teras' meant 'monster'. Adapting it, these intelligent monsters started to be called 'Tera's. All of you must understand something. In this world, Teras exist, but so do beasts. Beasts are those which have deranged minds that only give them the urge to ingest food and procreate. They are not capable of higher level thought. Teras are those beasts which are capable of thinking beyond that level. Believe me, this distinction is very simple. A beast would try to eat you even if it saw that you were capable of killing it. A Tera, on the other hand, would stalk you and wait for you to let up your defenses before striking and ending your life in one go"

-"The main threat that humanity faced after the natural disasters died down was these Teras, who came to rule the Earth. They were capable of commanding the other beasts, and they used these beasts to rain down attack after attack on the last havens in which humanity was holed up"

You'll be learning about them later, in history classes. To sum it up, humanity had once again returned to the stone age, where we only knew that stone was hard and could be used as a weapon, and that burning wood gave fire. Yet, we didn't perish. Because we obtained different weapons"

-"You see, Teras aren't the only ones who evolved. As the elements in the air also changed, we slowly evolved and adapted in order to breathe. In the process, and due to also being affected by the radiation that leaked through the doors of our havens, our bodies changed, just like the Earth. On the Earth, a new type of Energy had been born. Some said that it was just a type of radiation, but regardless, this is what we call it. The absorption of this Energy leads Teras and beasts to grow stronger and undergo more mutations in order to become better than their previous forms. We, humans, cannot directly ingest that Energy that is floating all around us. But what we can do is integrate our bodies with these 'Cores'. At the age of 18, each and every human body becomes capable of integrating with a Core. The Cores absorb Energy actively after the integration. With the absorbed Energy, we can do whatever we wish"

The absorbed Energy allows the Tera to grow in strength faster, allowing it to grow powerful enough to accomplish anything the Tera Master might want. For a Core to absorb a Tera, its Energy must first be made to enter the mind of a Tera. This creates a link between that integrated Core and the Tera. Through the link, a Tera Master can send certain basic commands to the Tera, and, if needed, the link also has the ability to cause death to that Tera by causing a violent attack to assault its brain"

-"The Path to the Stars. Kids, we humans didn't just sit around and allow ourselves to be vanquished. We used every means available to us to establish foothold after foothold on the planet, beating back the hordes of beasts and legions of Teras which threatened to annihilate us on each step of the way. Finally, two centuries after the apocalypse, the best and strongest of humans gathered together to form the World Government: an alliance of the greatest protectors on Earth.

That…was how the Path to the Stars was born. This Path is for those who wish to grow strong enough to help protect their race. Cores are the most precious materials we have: Jenny neglected to mention that they are so rare and have such mystifying abilities because they are the solidified remnants of the core of the Earth which came to the surface during the apocalypse. There are grades to Cores, too, which segregate them according to how well a Core absorbs Energy, or how powerful a Tera a Core can store. If they wanted, the World Government could hoard all the resources. Yet, they opened them to the world."
