《Dragon Fragment》v6c2 Meeting the Unexpected

-Afternoon. 3RD POV-
The dark clouds looming over the northern hillsides surrounding the valley of the mana vein and the plains below blew west with the wind from the mountains carrying the diverse smells resulting from the battles as the smog and ash clears. After the wolves subjugated most of the invading forces, the wind users conveyed the message of surrender and some began to devour the enemy corpses while others replenish their depleted reserves or sprawl exhausted from their wounds. Other groups of wolves escorted the survivors dragging their bodies in shame of defeat and grief along with corpses including fallen comrades to the hilltop.
The sunlight starts to shine upon the scorched landscape once more as the number of spectators increased around the hillside where the last fight in the middle was reaching its conclusion.
*Thu-rush! Thu-rush! Thump! SWOOSH!* An enraged fox beast enveloped in yellow flames sprinted towards the multicolored and electrified plasma field.
*ShhhrrrriiiiiAAKKK!!!* Dozens of ice spikes appeared inclined from the ground shooting towards the running fox growing rapidly enough to displace the air forming white bands around them. *BAM! BAM! PA-KRASH! PA-Kash! KRRRRSSSHMM! KSSHHHH!* The ice pillars reaching up to half a meter wide at the base and five long sublimed and broke while slowing the fox down until it fully stopped with the neck inside the plasma bubble.
"WHAP! WHAP!" The firefox snapped his jaws trying to bite the dragon backed against the wolf.
"Hello there, snappy!" The purple-blue beast greeted looking into the large canine mouth opening and closing. "Nod if you surrender... You don't have to die, you know?" He asked and waited a few seconds.
"GRRRR! WHAP!" The raging fox beast replied with a snarl and closed his mouth preparing a firebreath.
My Mana is draining fast... Should I change to Electrocution or Magnetic flux to render him unconscious? No. A beast like this isn't worth losing most Elementals if I dismiss the plasma field--Time's up! Nefiru determined and commanded elementals to change the shape of the bubble.
*KriiiiASSSHHHH!* The high-temperature plasma overwhelmed the firefox and vaporized his fur, hide and flesh violently causing him to stop gathering chemicals.
"GRYAAH! GYAAHH!" The trapped beast wailed agonizingly inside the isolated bubble and struggled to pull out while the water user opposed with ice spikes.
*WUUOOONNG! FWOOSH! BWOOSH!* The plasma field engulfed the fox beast up to the belly and entered the mouth while the she-wolf suppressed his magic in a thin layer over the vaporizing skin. *KSSHHH!!* The fumes and water vapor building under pressure leaked through the holes near the ice pillars while filling the beast's respiratory system and suffocating him.
"Bye, snappy!" The dragon said inspecting the effects of the phenomena.
"It's killing him!" Yelmo realized and prepared to pounce.
"GRRR!" The golden wolf glared at the firefox about to lash out and growled as a warning.
"Stop--! Gruap!" The old beast trapped on the right barked and bit his ally on the foreleg.
"Beluko...?!" The unbound fox questioned feeling his leg yanked and looked down.
"Wuak... It's already too late to do anything. Our mana is drained and we are surrounded. Now is not the time to act." The older fox released the leg and shook his head disapproving.
"GRR--! To die in such a manner is disgraceful!" Yelmo snarled with hackles raised.
"He chose that. Control yourself. Losing another high rank now only helps the enemy." Daval declared and reasoned.
"Kruff!" Yelmo snorted and looked away.
Whoo! This is so easy without magic interference... But becoming conceited is a sin... Nefiru reviewed satisfied and retracted the plasma.
*WUUOOONNG! FWOOSH! Blurt! Blup! Puash! Dlip! Dlip!* The plasma converged into a large ball next to the wolf while leaving behind a charred fox skewed in place with smoke coming out and a molten loop on the ground. *KRUURURONK! THOOM! Shuru! Shuru! Zoong!* The ice pillars broke and the roasted beast slumped oozing fluids all over and twitched for a moment before the mana wave confirmed his death and the she-wolf collected mana to recover slightly.

"Xido was... burned to death...?! A high-ranked firefox...?! HOW?" Daval demanded an explanation after observing the scorched corpse.
"The temperature probably exceeded his rank's control... But that kind of fire is something Divines can make, not a low-rank lightning user...right?" Yelmo conjectured staring at the glowing ball.
"I think...that's a Bloodline Dragon with good dual talents that mastered Lightning abilities. We just don't know much about that affinity..." Beluko surmised staring at the dragon who waited patiently.
"What!? But mastering such rare and difficult affinity at low rank--! It can't be a dual high-talents, right? Those freaks are fewer in numbers than Demigods!" The fox on the east spoke looking to his right.
"I think it's possible. That's a large quantity of ice controlled at once for a Lower-Rank 6, so it shouldn't be Low-affinity. But the water arts didn't seem special..." The oldest fox affirmed switching his gaze to the melting icicles.
"Kyuu... I'm not envious at all... Where did the wolves get this absurd creature in the first place? Any ideas to get it on our side?" The trapped beast on the left spoke avoiding the wolf's stare.
"We don't have many Lightning users to benefit from that knowledge. Although Lightning Divines could pay well for this creature. It would be stupendous receiving a Divine-made Spear as reward for Yero." Yelmo asserted and muttered looking behind the wolf.
"Let's cooperate, and see what happens. We must report this to our Divine if he doesn't already know. I don't think this dragon is unrelated to what happened today with the wolves either." Beluko instructed and looked up.
"So, are you guys surrendering yet?" The scaly beast asked after noticing their expressions.
*Swish!!! Swish!!!* The three beasts nodded simultaneously.
Good. Because mana is nearly dry... Hurray for mana crystals! Nefiru affirmed and dismissed the lightning system while recovering mana.
*BRRZT--ZUOONG--ZUAASHH!* The electromagnetic bubble stopped and the plasma quickly vanished into the air before the regular lightning bolts jumping on the dragon returned. *Brrzzzt! Prrzzzt!* The electric display caught the attention of the foxes who wondered the reason for the waste of mana and remained alerted when the ground trapping their legs rumbled. *Krrrroom! Shraah!! Shruaah!* The two foxed were released from their earthen prison by the she-wolf and pulled their legs out, hen stood still waiting for instructions.
"THIS BATTLE IS OVER!" The Dragon declared loud enough to be heard by the foxmen a dozen meters away.
*Shruah! Swup! Fwip!* The golden she-wolf got up on three legs and lifted her muzzle high up.
"AUWOOOooooOOH~!" Erina howled victoriously announcing the end of the fights.
""AROOOOOOOOOO~!"" The wolves all around let loose their own howls and wagged their tails as if they've been holding it in waiting for this moment.
So loud... This happiness feels contagious, but it's embarrassing to join in... Nefiru affirmed observing the wolves in the surroundings and turned to the foxes who had their ears lowered and tails touching the ground. They look...quite depressed...as expected... He reviewed with guilt and started walking to the west where the injured foxman lies.
""WOooooo..."" The howling wolves quiet down and began moving in different directions.
Ah! Pamuro... Daval noticed the young beast's destination and followed behind submissively.
*Tash! Tash! Thomp!* The dragon reached the armored foxman struggling to contain the blood filling his lung and lowered his head closer.
"U-uugghh-ah...guark!" Pamuro looked up with wide eyes and spew blood trying to talk.
"It's alright. I mean no harm. I'm a water user. I'll help you get that blood out." Nefiru assured in Stilus and offered.
"Kuuu... I'm sorry, partner. Everything was for naught. Everything! And we are at their mercy now..." The fox beast whimpered and growled arriving at the dragon's left.

"KUK!" The foxman grimaced and looked up at the sky disappointed.
"You lost a lot of blood... Hang in there!" The water beast inspected the wound under the armor and encouraged. "Erina, could you stop suppressing them? He might die if I don't get my magic inside his body..." He looked back and requested in Stilus.
"You dummy! These are high ranks. They can kill you in an instant!" Erina lectured limping closer to him.
"They aren't Dimshadow though. That bitch's truly scary." He dismissed and shivered remembering.
"You dummy! The matriarch was just tormenting you and she underestimated the magic strength needed to kill you... Don't expect the same from these foxes." She admonished glancing back at the enemies watching them in silence.
"Y-you have a point. I almost froze my own head negating her half-serious attacks..." He acknowledged recalling the early incident.
"That's right. That's right. HUuuf!" The she-wolf said nodding and sighed relieved reaching the dragon's right side.. "The matriarch was behaving after hearing your lessons, so I left with a piece of mind... But I'm surprised she let you come out knowing a High-Rank can kill you easily... She's not even probing to check your safety! What if something happened to me? Who'd protect you?" The golden beast admonished the indifference.
"Erm... Iya... I told her about my contingency plans in case of death. And...she's busy with a difficult homework..." Nefiru informed feeling overprotected.
"What's homu--nevermind. Stop taking such risks until you get over Rank 7! And stop talking about dying so casually! Keep in mind how much we all sacrificed for you!" The she-wolf snapped and lectured sternly.
"Y-yes, mother..." The dragon said in Stilus lowering his head with ears flopped. "My rank did increase a little more, so I can attempt evolving later." He growled in wolf language informing.
"Humph! Your magic resistance is pitifully weak without the next Soul Stage. You shouldn't leave the Mana Vein until then." She declared with a piercing gaze that conveyed her seriousness.
"E-easy there... Let's not get too overprotective." The scaly beast stuttered nervously and growled again. "Does it make that much difference? I won't get killed by higher ranks instantly? Is the spiritual boost uniform?" He inquired with eyes brimming with curiosity.
"GWUH! Those puppy eyes..." The golden wolf shrunk back appraising and gave in. "Yes, your domain will be more fortified making it harder to force magic into your head... Your ability to move Spirit does increase, but its influence becomes much stronger in the brain since the Soul is more...present? You'll be more susceptible to intent as well. Though you learned that really fast... Curiously, this happens again at Divine when you gain full control of your Spirit and I'd assume something else happens at Demigod." She elaborated gladly without restraint.
Right... Spirit potency is the greatest in the brain followed by the flesh, then the cavities within the body which is why the mouth is ideal for breath attacks, and this will improve, huh? Focusing intent in one place also enhances that, uhh, kinetic effect? What does gaining full control of spirit mean? I need questions answered later... Nefiru pondered and spoke to the wolf.
"Erina, there's no reason to waste mana suppressing them. Just protect my body. And if a Fox does something--... Make them all regret it!" The dragon instructed and announced gazing at the prisoners.
"Fine..." The earthen wolf consented and moved her Spirit while continuing to mold magic.
You getting this? Yelmo thought looking at the older fox on the left and whipped his tail quietly.
I can hear... Beluko glared back thinking and flickered his ears. I'm not sure what they growled, but their interactions are quite informative. He affirmed and got closer to the dragon.
"I don't know who's stupid idea was to make you leader but I'll behave if you don't kill anyone else. And help Pamu there!" Yero spoke to the dragon walking closer to him and demanded pointing at the wounded Foxman.
"Urgh... Wake me up when we can go back. Or kill me in my sleep. I don't care." Hazel spoke laying down while facing up.
"Okay then..." The purple-blue creature said and lowered his head to the Foxman in front when he felt proximity to his rear.
"Huunf! Huunf!" The older fox beast snuffed the dragon's ass a couple of times.
"HEY!" Nefiru snapped and looked behind. "Back off! I gave no permission to get so familiar..." He barked and pushed the fox away with his tail. "If you are into other males, there are some wolves up there that are interested..." The lightning user declared and pointed at the hilltop with his snout.
"WHAT?!!" The old beast uttered after analyzing the scents before everything else registered. "Oh, that... N-no... I... I was just--..." He stammered and stopped under the glares.
"Reeeeal smooth, Beluko." Yero ridiculed raising both eyebrows.
Forget that! Beluko shook his head and snorted lightly. Why does this creature smell so young?! No-no, that can't be right... Beasts take longer than people to rank up... Even Miss Ayumi is dotted for almost reaching Rank 6 before her twenties and this dragon hasn't even gone through his first mating season! Such monstrous talent is not possible...unless he isn't a normal beast...there are human scents too... The firefox surmised in denial and continued staring as if waiting on another clue.
"Kooff! Kohok! Heel-p meee!" The wounded Foxman demanded at the end of his wits and the attention switched to him.
"Oh, right, sorry..." The purple-blue beast said apologetically and turned to the front before sending his magic into the wounded Foxman.
*Shuuurl~!* The accumulated blood inside the respiratory system seeped out of the bullet holes while the spilt fluids outside the body streamed upwards and gathered into two balls floating above the foxman's chest. *Blub! Blub! Glub! Bluash!* The water user stopped the bleedings and filtered the blood before throwing away an inch-wide contaminated red sphere.
"HAUFF! Haauf! I-I can breathe again... T-thank you..." Pamuro looked up and spoke relieved.
"Don't move. I'm not done yet. Gotta get this back into your bloodstream with some water to restore blood pressure or you'll be weakened..." The dragon informed showing the ball of blood when the Foxman's face changed.
"Wh-!? B-b-back in me??" The wounded fighter questioned with a pale expression.
"Don't worry, this one is clean and hasn't coagulated. You do something about the tiny bugs... I also need to extract some debris inside, so endure it." Nefiru assured before instructing.
The water magician used the gauntlet to grow an ice shard and pierce the artery in the arm while freezing the metal fragments inside the lungs and pulled them out before streaming blood into the body.
"OW! Kohuk! Kohuk! Kof!" The foxman sounded pained and coughed uncomfortably while squirming.
"Now try to relax. I'm not a healer, but I can use Light regeneration to stop the bleeding. It's gonna take a while though. That is some damage..." The beast commanded after assessing.
WHAAAT...?! Light magic tooooo?!? Good Lord... This beast doesn't know his own value! A mortal creature with High Lighting and possible Bloodline, Water affinity with at least medium Talent and Light might sell at Immortal Auctions for Top-Tier Divine items! Maybe even a Demigod grade piece or a Mana vein depending on the soul evaluation... But it seems he hasn't met any knowledgeable humans and these wolves are too ignorant... Although after living for 800 years, I never expected a creature like this either... The oldest firefox inferred and remained frozen like a statue.
"P-please...keep that wolf away... I-I can't relax..." Pamuro spoke up in consternation and breaking the silence.
*POMF!* Daval laid down next to his partner waiting for him to climb on the saddle.
"Heheh..." The dragon between the beasts chuckled and turned right looking back. "Jesh Erina, what did you do to the poor fox?" He inquired blocking the way to the wounded person.
"HEY! What about me? I'm hurt too!" The she-wolf protested and showed her left foreleg.
"Aww~ The big girl wants attention? But you are a tough girl. You can take it. You were amazing using those metal Disks too~" The lightning creature praised smiling.
"Y-you noticed?!" She inquired moving rear slightly.
"Yes... Wh--what are you doing?" The dragon glanced at her back and stammered asking.
"Wagging my tail..." The golden beast replied casually and stopped.
"...O--okay..." He acknowledged in an awkward manner and returned to the subject. "So, you shot him, huh? What are you, a wolf cop? Haha..." He affirmed and teased averting his eyes.
"...No idea what that means." The golden wolf tilted her head wondering about the unknown term and proceeded to report. "Still, the accuracy is a problem limiting the range, but the wullets proved to be very effective Mana-wise for the damage they caused." She elaborated the test results.
"Nice! Make me some for my projectiles later..." The lightning creature praised and made a request.
"Sure." The she-wolf approved and nodded slightly feeling a little proud.
This is good. I needed to upgrade my coil gun to reduce my mana consumption without affecting the damage. Also, the encounter with the carnivorous bats denoted the lack of a barrage, so smaller projectiles might come in handy--Wait! Won't all of this will increase my dependency on High-ranking Earth or Fire users since chemicals with high potential energy costs a lot of mana? And what happens when I can't restock? I don't think relying on foreign magic is a good idea... My control with Lightning is greater than ever and water has many useful applications, so I should develop more abilities with my own Magic... Nefiru evaluated the external methods when the she-wolf continued.
"Although none of these foxes had Divine armors which made it easier... I doubt wullets could pierce Divine-level metal." Erina revealed and looked back at the ground. "That Axe over there is probably a low-grade Tungstem weapon judging by the blade imperfections yet my attacks just bounced off leaving a tiny scratch. It's penetration power, sharp edge, and temperature-resistance is much better than normal metal weapons. I learned over the years that slowing it down with a large mass was more effective than trying to stop it with a layer of hard metal like the one in your scales." She elaborated pointing at the large Axe with her snout from the left.
"WOAH!! My magic can't enter it!? It just slides off the surface...?! That's interesting... Vee~ry in-te-res-ting." Nefiru followed her gaze before inspecting the object with a probe and spoke greatly surprised.
"It's the high-density energy in them. I can't manipulate Tungstem now, but even if I could, it would take me a long time to disassemble that Axe... Now, imagine a Top Tier Divine metal..." She added turning to the dragon.
"Woah! I never had the chance to inspect a Divine-made item. I want to know how it is made and its limits--" He spoke excitedly when the nearby foxman interrupted.
"Don't get any ideas!" Yero reproved and walked east along the wolf's right side.
*Tarsh! Tarsh! Krrereree--! Chrriink!* The spear user reached the axe and picked it up before turning around. *Thunk!* He turned around to face the two beasts watching him and stomped the handle on the ground.
"The owner of this Axe died, so the Divine who bestow it upon him has the right to reclaim it at any time and by any means... I'll take it back. Or use it to chop off your head if you break your word!" He announced holding the axe on his side.
"Awww... Can I inspect it if I let you chop off my head?" The dragon casually inquired without taking his eyes off the weapon.
"You... Are you making fun of me?" The firefox snapped and questioned trembling.
"Not at all. I think I can survive a decapitation as long as my magic isn't interrupted. Let's try it out!" The purple-blue beast shook his head denying and suggested.
"HAA...??!" Yero blurted contorting his face painfully with the mouth half-open. "Are you CRAZY!?" He sternly reproved questioning the beast's sanity.
"Yep! My head isn't working well." The scaly creature immediately replied nodding.
"...HUH??" Yero sounded quizzically as his lips twitched annoyed. "Haahh... Get a clue... This wolf's murder intent is not a joke..." He sighed pinching his nose with the free hand and grumbled to himself. "Give it up. Have some respect and decency at least if you don't care about our lives." The fire magician looked up and announced.
"Aww... Very well..." The dragon desisted unwillingly with his ears flopped.
"Dimshadow may know more about divine crafted things..." Erina recalled and interjected.
"OH! I'll totally ask her then!" The young beast enlivened and turned to the golden beast. "But that's still metal, so with sufficient kinetic energy, you can pierce through or shatter it. Just develop a more powerful attack with a harder metal tip." He adviced changing the conversation.
"Yes... I think that depending on the circumstances, dealing more damage is better than full defense, but I need to find a balance since my agility isn't as great as foxes nor can we fly. I thought I'd be light enough to doge without my metalized coat, but it wasn't the case. And judging by my current wounds or the ones I did dodge, I'm thinking to get a partial armor instead...to increase defense where it matters only." Erina reported her analysis from the disadvantageous fight.
"Hooh! That sounds efficient indeed. But why remove most of your wired coat that took a long time to make at this crucial time anyway?" Nefiruo approved and inquired tilting his head.
"Why do you think?" The she-wolf replied with a question.
"No grinding on the scales can only mean one thing... Snuggle!" He declared and brought his head closer.
*Braaash! Srsrsh...! Bzzzt!* The lightning beast nuzzled on the wolf's cheek making her hairs stand on end from the static electricity.
"So fluffy~" The young beast said as he enjoyed himself without restraint.
"Yes, cuddle...and to be more appealing for ma~ting. Keep going~ Haff! Haff!" The she-wolf murmured in an inviting tone and panted with excited breaths.
"GUK! E-ermm... Uhhh..." The dragon blurted, unable to respond right away. "G-get healed first? We can't have intercourse with you in that state... Not to mention this isn't the time nor the place and I have yet to figure out what to do..." He proposed with reason and meekly backed away.
"No more delaying with you! Let's go get some healer right away..." The golden beast barked upset and looked around. "Where are those lazy mutts...?" She wondered and sniffed the air.
...That Elder wants to mate with the Dragon?! She feels it too, huh? The natural instinct to seek powerful Souls and the dissatisfaction of common mates at our age... Even immortals... Mating just becomes an obligation without the right partner. That's why Irimos has been courting that Arctic Vixen for hundreds of years. To think she was just a Medium-ability healer that became High Dual-affinities at Divine. That cold Vixen! How many have died because she wants a personal mana vein...? Beluko analyzed in silence and glanced around. Good... My kin hasn't realized and there are no signs of the other two Divines finding out. They support the wolves, so I need to let our Divine know without arousing suspicion. He concluded and walked downhill to his partner.
"Can't find them?" The dragon asked looking at the wolf.
"No. Their scents are all over the place, so at least they did their job, but I can't find their current location." Erina answered lowering her head.
"Let's just go to the gathering place. They'll be there after the wounded has been patched enough to walk." Nefiru suggested and turned to the fox on his left. "You can carry him now." He instructed and retracted his magic while moving around the armored foxman on the ground.
""Alright..."" The wolf and the fox answered nodding.
"What awaits us up there...? Yelmo interjected glaring back at the eyes peering from the hill.
"Why are you gathering us in one place? The losing side always gets eaten..." Yero addressed the scaly beast and pointed out worriedly.
"Relax. We'll send you all back after the invasion is officially over, and maybe even exchange prisoners... Of course, we'll eat the dead and take spoils of war." The dragon assured glancing at the corpses behind.
"I see... That's good to hear--I think..." The foxman approved and muttered not entirely relieved.
"Although I do want to learn some things from you guys. Anything you are allowed to say since I didn't experience much living as a pet..." Nefiru added with a tale to sound victimized.
"Hoh? He doesn't seem so bad. I guess it's natural for a beast in captivity to want to learn more..." Yelmo surmised sympathetically.
"We'll see..." Yero spoke unwilling and recalled. "Do you know how many survived?" He inquired looking at the hilltop obscured by the pack of wolves.
"Uhh... Around 50 in total from what I saw from up there." The scaly creature replied pointing at the hilltop.
"Wha--?! One-third of our forces were just...captured? All that effort and sacrifices were for nothing!!?" The foxman spoke perplexed without believing entirely.
"Well, our side learned many things, and I'm sure your Tribe will too." He comforted in reply.
"Guh! To secure victory with few casualties...feels like an insult!" Yero declared clenching the weapon and looking down with a downcast countenance.
"I understand how you feel a little. But we had fatalities too and many wounded even though we did many preparations to minimize the casualties on both sides." Nefiru comforted and gazed around the landscape. "This outcome was better than I initially expected." He revealed observing the destruction and corpses being carried.
"Actually, I made a bet with everyone. Whoever captures the most foxes alive wins a favor from you or a turn after we mate..." Erina suddenly announced.
"You whAAAT!!?" The dragon blurted aghast and stayed with his jaws open.
"It was to motivate and keep them from killing the foxes, so you can't back down." The she-wolf reaffirmed.
"Wait wait wait wait--! What if a gay wolf won?" The purple-blue creature repeated before realizing the implications.
"Try hard?" The golden beast cheered with a grin.
"...You troll wolf!" Nefiru insulted feeling pranked before adding. "And what's the point of mating with other species anyway? Dragons lay eggs for fuck's sake!" He questioned the pointless endeavor.
"I almost feel sorry for you... Almost. Kukuku..." Yero guessed the conversation and laughed at the misfortune.
"KYUFUFU! I would like to see a tiny dragon humping a beast much larger than him..." Yelmo who kept quiet until now spoke up mocking.
"Shut up! Furballs..." Nefiru barked infuriated.
"Actually...hybrids are quite possible... There's an oddity in our Tribe with Fox, Wolf, and Dragon blood which we don't know where it came from..." The older fox spoke approaching while carrying the shield-bearer. "There are even dragons who don't lay eggs and have hairs similar to his. But offsprings between two species that are too different like wolves and normal dragons usually die or survive with defects. I don't recommend procreation between them." He elaborated arriving at the wolf's right side and opposed.
"I'll tell him..." The spear fighter nodded and looked at the dragon before translating.
"S-seriously?! Chimeras...?" The dragon spoke incredulously.
"Yes. Basically, blame Divines and Ancients for playing with life in the past." Yero commented and left the dragon to think. "Hey, lizard... Since we told you something, can we bring back the corpse of our Rank 10?" He called out and demanded.
"Hm? Ah, go ahead..." The purple-blue dragon approved and turned uphill with his head lowered.
Yelmo turned around and started walking East while the dragon receeded when the she-wolf stopped their movements.
"WAIT! Give me a moment..." Erina called out and limped back to the armored fox corpse before squatting.
""Wh-what are you doing?"" The dragon and the foxman holding the Axe questioned at the same time while the others watched quietly.
*PRSrssrsshhhh!* The she-wolf urinated on the corpse with a relieved expression.
""What the hell!?"" The dragon and the foxman blurted surprised while the others glared in silence.
"What's wrong with you? That will antagonize their families!" Nefiru rebuked and shook his head disapprovingly.
"Yeah! What the lizard said..." The spear fighter agreed pointing with a hand.
"And you just stared instead of using water magic..." The she-wolf countered making a smug grin.
"Gek! You troll wolf! Stop aggravating the situation." He sounded slightly ashamed and admonished the behavior once more.
"Yes, yee~sss..." The golden beast spoke in a haughty tone and limped uphill.
"Haahh..." The dragon sighed troubled and approached the soiled corpse.

Stranded in a magical land beyond the reaches of the universe, The Weather Vane follows our crew of heroes as they try to piece things back together even while The Dark Lord’s forces march, maraud, and murder at every turn. Themes of darkness chase the overall levity of The Weather Vane which suffers not a lull as the climax begins near the beginning of the book and drives on through the greatly satisfying finish.
