-Xuanhuan Universe ??? 3RD POV-
The ZhuLong Star Clan rules over thousands of Martial Sects and many more Clans of practitioners in hundreds of inhabited worlds on a Universe within the second Cosmic Plane. A Martial Empire governs they and many more Clans from the lowest Realms on the third Cosmic Plane where the leader of ZhuLong ascended recently. His absence left behind a fierce competition for the position and seeking recognition of the Elders desperately, one of the Heir candidates took a precious artifact without permission and two servants to search for treasures.
*WoooOOMM~!* A golden Ark 10 meters long and 4 wide streaks across interstellar space at a significant portion of the speed of light towards one of the most dangerous places in the Universe.
An orange-haired youth wearing gaudy white and blue garments sat crossed-legged on the golden wooden floor with eyes closed as he concentrated on a long-range probe. Hm? Wa-what's this?!! The Mid-Saint Stage expert detected an object of intense energy within and wondered excitedly before calling out. "Kenzu! I found Deity Energy!"
A black-haired man in shiny armors and wielding a greatsword on his back while leaning on a golden pillar with arms crossed opened his eyes widely and looked down in front. "Ha? Where?" The Late-Demigod Stage elderly-looking man asked clarification.
"It felt within a crude wooden table and two chairs..."
"Haaa?!?! Who would use Deity Wood in such a plain manner?"
"We'll have to ask the ones using it."
"Hoh? Their Stage?"
"Not sure. It was vague as if they are using some sort of concealment technique."
"Hmm... Master Tsuen, essence to forge Deity-grade items is worth fighting for. It's up to you to take the risk."
"Let's get closer first and probe again." Tsuen asserted and turned to his attendant on the bridge. "Higan!"
"Y-yes?" Answered a short brown-haired youth in light armors operating a gyroscope.
"Take us that way..." He instructed signaling with his energy.
"Uhh... Okay..." The Early-Saint Stage acknowledged and steered the Ship within the star cluster.
...
A few minutes later, the golden Ark slowed down to match the orbit of the moving Table set. The youngster with the long orange hair grabbed a 5-centimeter wide sword and adjusted his clothes while the brown-haired pilot reached a similar weapon and equipped a shield on the left arm.
"See, Higan? I told you we would find treasure in Mythical places."
"B-but young master, seeking more trouble than we are already--"
"Enough! I wasn't planning on returning without results anyway." Tsuen snapped and declared with a hardened face.
"Aieee... P-please, don't say something so gloomy! You must return alive..."
"Hmph! Go back to what? Receiving orders and bowing my head?"
"T-that... Agh..."
"I'm just glad the voyage took only 30 years! Booze ran out 10 years ago, and we didn't bring any ladies... I've never been sober and bored for so long in my life!" The black-haired man complained.
"...Mortals? Ughh... Why don't you train for Ascension instead?"
"Ha? Because I'm like a God to them in this Realm!"
"Haa... Out of all the hobbies..."
"Besides, I want to repay Master Tsuen. I would still be rotting in prison for 'offending' that Noble Lady..." Kenzu narrated with a twisted expression denoting his regret and hatred.
"...Yeah. I have my own share of regrets as well. I was too naive back then when all my brothers were on friendly terms..." Tsuen affirmed while gritting his teeth and clenching the sword handle.
"Ah, me too! I was trash until Young Master--"
"The moment passed already, Higan." Kenzu teased with a grin.

"Aghh!"
"Hmph! What good is talent when they are quick to betray and die like idiots?"
"Young Master..."
"..."
"Enough! Are we ready?"
""Yes!""
"Let's go seize our future!"
""OUU!!""
The three men entered the airlock and looked through a round window at the two phantom humanoids sitting on plain chairs 200 meters away casually talking.
"Impressive..." Kenzu muttered as surprise dawned on his face and transmitted his intent. "Not many can do Astral Projection to visit places this remote..."
"Yes, they seem strong. But it would be rude to probe again and might put them on guard."
"Wh-what if they're Deities?"
"Unlikely. But Deities shouldn't be much of a problem. Astral Form takes a lot of energy and weakens them greatly. They can't go all out in this place either."
"Okay, Kenzu, you take the lead. Try looking as intimidating as possible."
"Uuuh! Fancy job~ Understood."
"If negotiations fail, we'll have to act before they put away that table set. You attack head on while Hogan and I flank."
"Uhh... Young master, are we just going...to rob them?"
"...That depends on them. But you can always use your amazing powers of persuation like back then--" Tsuen retorted giving him a stare of disapproval with slanted eyes.
"Geh! I-I'll fight! I'll fight..." Higan interrupted as he resolved gripping his sword and holding the shield tightly.
...
James stared at the golden Ark with his jaw hanging and a perplexed expression. "Whaaat theeee heeeell?! ...A Boat navigating without propulsion??"
"It's a transportation Vessel that moves with a mechanism that controls kinetic energy..."
"Woah... That's High-tech--Wait... Are those wooden planks? Is that a frigging wooden boat?"
"Yes, but it's not ordinary Wood. Just as my Table Set, it might be common wood in higher Planes but tougher than Diamond here."
"WHAT!?" The mortal blurted and rubbed the table surface with a hand. "Cooool... A cheat item... Can I have it?"
"You'd waste a wish."
"Ugh... Nevermind."
The door on the side of the Ark opened and the three men flew into the vacccum of Space bathed in radiation. The armored Warrior with a Greatsword on his back took lead as they approach the transparent figures.
"...!! Whoaahh...!?T-those are Cultivators, right? Right?" James blurted baffled at the sight he had only known to be fiction.
"Yes, this is one of those realities."
"Wow... Look at the detailed decorations, and the shiny gear... AmAAAziiiing~!"
"There's an entity to your left that can erase anything, and you are acting like a high school girl in front of handsome men..."
"Ehh? But this is just like what I've read! Can I talk to them? Pleaaaase~!"
"...Misplaced admiration. I quit. Let's reincarnate you as a girl in their World." The Guardian declared and crossed his transparent arms seemingly upset.
"Oiii! I'm joking. I'm joking... Ha Ha Ha!"
"Good. You'll hear what they transmit through intent, but it's best if they don't hear you..."
"Aww..."
...
The three Immortals approached the two mysterious beings cautiously and stopped 15 meters away.
"Master Tsuen, I can't tell how strong is the one on the right without a deep probe. Don't underestimate him."
"Noted. Proceed with the demands."
"Hm?" Kenzu's mouth twitched and realized. "Master Tsuen, the one on the left is acting like a peasant..."
"What!?" Tsuen uttered and glanced at the curious earthling. "Are you sure?"
"Master Tsuen doesn't know Mortals like me."
"Hmph! Insolent lowly mortal!"
"Ne, Young Master, why would a powerful being bring a mortal here of all places?"
"Higan is right. This is too strange. That mortal has to be important..." Kenzu affirmed narrowing his eyes.
"Hmph! We'll exploit that..."
"Got it." Kenzu nodded and broadcasted their introduction. "Greetings. We are emissaries from the ZhuLong Star Clan."
"Salutations. I am Dian." The Guardian sent back and pointed at the earthling. "And this is Mez."
"Lazy!" The mortal criticized the name choice and greeted raising a hand.
"The less they know, the better."
"Right..." James affirmed narrowing his eyes and realized. "Hey, that Clan name..." He questioned raising an eyebrow.
"Torch Dragon Clan...?" He translated the meaning from an Earth's language.
"What fakes! They are not Dragons!"
"Does it bother you?"
"Of course! Imagine calling yourself Serpent DiCaprio, and use a Human nail attack, or form a Clan called Torch Human..."
"Hmm..." The protector imagined and shivered. "Yes... It doesn't feel right."
"Told ya."
The black-haired warrior gave the two visitors some time before asking. "And for what purpose is Mr. Dian visiting this forobidden stellar region?"
"It was a good place to have a private conversation..."
""...""
"Well, I apologize for interrupting, but those who come here have to pay a fee."
"I see... But we don't possess any valuables. I'm a Beast and Mes is a commoner."
""A BEAST!!?""
"You dare intrude in our territory and refuse to pay our fee? Don't blame us for being impolite!" Tsuen threatened gritting his teeth angrily and clenching the handle of a decorated sword with the right hand.
"Ugh! He did NOT just say that..." The mortal commented with a sour look.
"Humans..."
"Can you not part with one of those Chairs?" The black-haired man suggested with a look.
"Can you not see that my guest is using it?"
"T-the Table?" The brown-haired youth proposed.
The Guardian glared annoyed and spoke coldly. "It's just wood, you petty thieves!"
Tsuen's mouth twitched and clenched the handle of his sword while trembling. "You... You won't give us face... You are seeking death!" The orange-haired youngster said hatefully and unsheathed his weapon.
The attendant unsheathed his sword nervously while the warrior's expression hardened and squinted his eyes giving the two phantoms a murdering glare that said all that he was thinking. He would do whatever it took to harm them through the Astral technique.
"Hey hey hey... Things escalated too quicklyyyyy!" James blurted alarmed as his eyes darted around.
"Don't worry. The most that they can do is put you in a real Coma..."
"Like hell!! Release my consciousness!"
"It's risky now... I'll stabilize a path first..."
"Ugh!"
Tsuen waited for a reconsideration, but there was no sign of an agreement and commanded the Demigod. "Kenzu, GO!"
*Krieg!* The warrior gripped the handled of his great sword tightly and held it up high while gathering his yellow Ki around the blade pointing upwards. *Shriiiaang!* A shiny energy blade extended from the blade for 25-meters and 4-meters wide before solidifying into an object weighting tens of pounds.
Tsuen glanced to the right and ordered his attendant. "Higan, GO!"
The two Saints mobilized their Ki and dashed from the sides. *Zwuong!* The orange-haired man left an after-image and appeared 5 meters behind the Mortal. *Zooom!* The brown-haired youngster streaked towards the Guardian while leaving an orange trail and stopped 5 meters away.
"Heavenly Slayer!" Kenzu called out his technique and slashed downwards with the massive object as if standing on solid ground.
"Ah! That's beauti--Do something!"
"I am..." The guardian assured and lifted his left hand with the open palm as if intending to block.
*ZWROOOM!* The imposing construct capable of slicing through metal like butter accelerated towards the right wooden chair. The Mortal only saw a yellow trail descending on them along energy vibrations, and cowered in the chair covering his face, but the Guardian saw differently. The protector gathered his energy as the Spiritual edge that could sever even Souls drew near 10 meters...5 meters...3 meters... The black-haired warrior and the other two Saints sneered sensing no opposition when transparent particle barrier activated around the table set. *Shiiiing! TONNNK!!* The enormous yellow sword crashed onto the spherical shield sending powerful energy waves traveling for miles in space as they lose intensity and hollow vibrations inside. *Whoom~ Whoom~*
""WHAT!!? It didn't budge?!!?"" The three sounded in shock through their transmission fixing their eyes on the intact barrier under the cracked sword.
"Woah! WoAH!" James cried out watching the damaged construct up close.
"There... All protected." The Guardian bragged and lowered his hand.
"Phew! A barrier! Amazing..."
The three immortals recovered and re-evaluated their target.
"Attaaack!" Tsuen commanded and pulled back his sword before condensing his energy on the blade into a compact material. "Lotus fangs!" He called out his most powerful ability and swung at the James's back materializing crescent-shaped slashes that expanded up to 5-meters wide before clashing against the barrier. *BRAANG! BRAAM!...* The blue-colored transparent blade exploded on impact and scattered back into Ki that returned to the owner.
Kenzu flew closer while pushing the shiny sword and grinded the edge on the round shield. *KRRRRR!* But it had no visible effect, so he raised the gigantic sword once again and brought it down repeatedly. *TONNNK! TONNNK!...*
Higan charged the runes on his sword and armor with Ki before striking at the barrier behind Guardian's back with the blade directly. *KANG! KLANG!...*
"Tch! This would obliterate mountains!" Tsuen commented as he continued brandishing his sword horizontally.
"Don't stop!"
*BRAAMM! TONNNK! KANG!* Hundreds of slashes later, the onslaught of simultanous attacks finally started to cause cracks on the barrier. *Krek! Kree--! Krarak!*
@
"HAAA!" Higan yelled through the mind connection and thrusted the sword with all his might, piercing the particle barrier. *KRiASHH! Krarakk! Krreeerk!* The blade finally stopped near the other humanoid's figure while cracks released energy loudly. "I got through!"
""Nice!"" The other two Saints rejoiced and pressed on.
"AHH! Fucking hell! Stop it already!" The mortal complained, unable to follow the attacks completely and noticed the barrier losing integrity. "Oh-oh..."
"I see it... But my energy is limited here. It's like draining a pool with a straw." The Guardian said troubled
*ZWROOOM!* The imposing yellow construct descended once more on the
*KRRiRiASHH!* The spherical barrier broke apart into many pieces and disappeared into energy re-absorbed the owner.
"That's my limit..." The Protector affirmed and gripped the yellow sword before tossing it towards the brown-haired youngster.
Higan reacted and lifted his shield to defend...
*KANG! ZUuu...* The impact unlodged the sword and drove him back several hundred meters.
"URK!" The brown-haired man exclaimed in pain with his left hand trembling.
"That bastard...!" Tsuen cursed gathering energy around his sword.
"Oops! Sorry Higan... But good job...!" The black-haired man praised watching the cracks in the barrier while recovering the energy of his ability. "He can't maintain that forever or go all out either!" The black-haired man asserted before gripping his sword with both hands.
"Got it! Take this--Sword beam!" Tsuen pointed the sword downwards at the protector before announcing.
*SHROOOON~BANG!* A pale blue beam half a meter wide formed around the blade from the compressed energy and impacted the round force field covering the table set before scattering into space. *FWOOOSH! Krackk! Prack!* The strong vibrations and cracks are felt over the near-vacuum space inside the barrier.
While the protector was busy maintaining the barrier, and the steward rejoined the fight, the black-haired dashed forward leaving a shiny trail of his shape while raising the hilt over his shoulder with the blade pointing behind.
*Shhrrrrk!* A square barrier appeared suddenly in the path of the attack and deflected the beam towards the incoming shield-bearer while stopping the warrior from getting closer.
"Not again--GAHHH!" Higan complained before being blown away while spinning for several hundred meters.
"Higan!" Tsuen called out worriedly and stopped his attack. "DAMN! All that energy lost..." He lamented before moving under the table towards his attendant.
*ZUUuuu...* The pale blue energy ray faded and the warrior resumed his attack.
"Hmph! Physical attacks are more effective..." Kenzu sounded and began slashing with yellow trails.
*BANG! PANG!* The great sword hacked at the barrier until it got stuck. *Kriash! KRUNK--!*
"Guardian! That thing is breaking! Do guarding stuff!" The mortal demanded in a panic. "Damn... This looks like a high-speed video... I can't process..."
"Che!" The black-haired man struggled to pull out his sword when his face changed.
The Guardian held out a palm towards the armored man's abdomen while a hole opened in the barrier.
*THUUUUUUNG!!* He shoots out an ultraviolet beam invisible to humans yet the mortal looked away from the brilliant flash.
The warrior noticed the unseen danger and attempted to dodge but to no avail as it disintegrated the armor along the flesh on the right side of his abdomen.
"ARGH!" The armored man uttered as he endured the pain signals reaching his brain, but the attack did not stop and he was forced to move left with the ray gauging his insides.
*PSSHHH!* The laser carved a trench thick like an arm on his abdomen along with the armor and the attack stopped shortly after as the light ray continued for a distant Star.
"GUAH!" He cried out clutching his side as blood gushes out of the fist-sized hole and boiled in the vacuum of space.
""Kenzu!"" The other two called out alarmed.
"I'm...I'm okay... It's just a scratch--Ngh!" He replied and winced noticing the phantom palm pointing at him again. "Oh--Fudge!" The black-haired man called the dislodged sword and hid behind it.
*THUUUUUUNG!!* The ultraviolet beam landed on the great sword thicker than an adult's palm and pushed the warrior back while turning red.
"...Stop this, dude. Just give them what they want..." The mortal pleaded.
"NO! I want you to understand. THIS time, somebody just wants the furniture which is kind of pathetic, BUT one day, they'll come after your Soul and not even the lower planes will be safe..." The protector lectured firing smaller beams at the retreating human, like target practice.
"Augh... But to kill people for such little reasons..." He uttered disturbed with the head lowered.
"This will be your future whether you want it or not. And there's no such thing as 'little reason.' Some entities live their immortal lives on simple desires that you would find stupid, crazy, or even absurd." He corrected the mortal.
"G-got it..." The mortal meekly acknowledged.
"Ugh! My sword almost melted... What was that?!!" Kenzu complained after regrouping with the others two hundred meters away.
"No idea... And that table anchored there... Maybe he's an expert on Formations?" Tsuen theorized.
"That would explain his defensive capabilities, but it seems he's using the energy for offense instead of repairing the barrier." The warrior asserted.
"Young master, should we summon an Elemental Spirit?" Higan called out asking for the course of action.
"No... I fear this place imposes far too many limitations for a proper fight." Tsuen denied.
"I'd rather switch to long range though. My wounds heal, but this armor can't withstand that invisible Attack." The warrior protested touching the holes.
"My Shield has a defensive formation that should endure... But my attacks probably won't break the barrier, unless..." Higan volunteered.
"Good. Let's combine our energies then. We can't let that beast win!" The orange-haired youngster declared.
"Alright. I'll do my best!" He resolved, gripping the torso-size shield.
Having finished a conversation in mere seconds, the three rushed back into action. That warrior began collecting energy in his great sword and compressed it before holding the hilt over his right shoulder with the tip pointing at the protector.
"Arrogant beast...take this--Heaven piercer!" He called out and thrust at the crystal pyramid.
*SHRUH! SHUK! SHRUUH...!* Each stab at empty space generated yellow conical lances that reached its targets in a fraction of a second. *KLANG! KLANG! KRASH!* The pointy energy constructs ceaselessly impacted the barrier while the mortal cowers under the table until one managed to pierce. *BRYAKSHHH!* The particle barrier shattered into countless pieces and vanished before the lances impacted the table. *BANG! KRASH! PRAK!* The wooden table endured the barrage intact and the guardian parried them away right before hitting him using a small barrier in his hand.
"Che! I'm too far..." The warrior asserted and stopped his attacks. "Guuyyys... He's going to attaaaack." He said moving behind the two concentrating.
"Holy shit! That was scary..." James commented.
"And the energy waves harmlessly dissipate here without air or ground...and I'm holding back." The protector declared pointing a palm at the trio.
"I-I see... Their attacks are simplistic though. I would've broken your barrier sooner..." The mortal announced.
"Martial artists need to be rich, apparently..." The guardian broadcasted and shrugged.
""Wh--!?"" The three practitioners froze and glared at the two phantoms.
"HEY! We're not THAT poor." Said the black haired man.
"That's right! You haven't seen all that we can do. You better surrender!" Higan intimated.
"A mortal dare to mock us?" Tsuen transmitted while his face reddens and body trembles with anger.
"Damn it, dude! You did that on purpose!" James accused with a glare.
"You wanted to talk to them." The guardian shrugged.
"Agh! T-that's true but--you're such a troll!!!" The mortal retorted.
"Hoh? Is that what he is? Are you also a beast?" The black-haired man interrogated with a glint in his eyes.
"No. No." The mortal waves denying. "This guy is probably a Serpent, and I'm just a dying human from a world where people like you are myths..." He clarified.
"P-poor mortal..." Higan sympathized.
"Yeah, that beast probably wants to eat his Soul." Kenzu surmised.
"Something like that." James casually acknowledged. "And by the way, you could've broken the barrier by attacking a single spot then slip something explosive inside or hinder his senses since he can handle multiple attacks." He announced.
""..."" The two keep a solemn silence when their leader calls.
"Higan, Kenzu..." Tsuen called while his pale blue energy scattered in space finally gathers around his body.
""Yes!"" The two retainers exclaimed and began circulating their energies around the bodies as well.
"Let's take down this evil with everything we have... Use elemental skills!" The youngster ordered.
"B-but young master... elemental attacks use up our energy and out here..."
"We can't recover, I know. But we can take him down..." He said determinedly.
"So many treasures to obtain a treasure... I'll use the forbidden attack that consumes my lifeforce, but my speed will." Higan resolve and the others approved with nods.
"I'll support you..." Tsuen said after approaching and placed a hand on Higan's shoulder.
"Young master..." The brown haired youngster said emotionally.
The brown haired youngster held the shield in front wrapped in his red aura, and the young master held on before circulating his pale blue aura forming swirling mix.
*BRZZSTSHRYUON! FWOOOSH!* Lightning bolts sparked and red fire ignited before turning purple and then, shining white in the center on the shield. *BWOOOSH!*
""THUNDER COMET!"" The two yelled as they began spinning and picking up speed before shooting towards the protector.
"Woooah! That looks so cool--and dangerous. Definitely dangerous! Do somethinnnng!!" The mortal demanded in a panic.
The Guardian held out a palm again and created several disks a meter wide and a couple inches thick in the path of the house-size fireball.
*WHAM! KRASH--!* The combined meteor-like attack crashed into each disk that exploded outwards slowing them down.
"He was absorbing our energy to create explosions!?" Kenzu realized following behind.
However, the guardian wasn't done, and from his transparent palm, another brilliant ray shot out.
*THUUUUUUNG!!* The powerful beam split into seven finger-thick lasers and bent around the meteor seeking the armored warrior behind. *KSSSHHHH!* The seven ultraviolet lasers pierced the person and reflected back to pierce him again while losing intensity.
"KUAAHK!" The man screamed being riddled with holes and blood gushes out only to boil away adding to the particles floating about before he dashed back a kilometer.
"Oooh! Shit! Shit! Shiiiit... They're getting CLOSER!!" James said peeking from under the table scared.
"Guh! To break through my shields...impressive." The protector commended with a grin.
"You demon! You said that with a smile! Do something already..." The mortal protested.
The light distorted in front of the meteor combo as they slowed down to a stop near the table.
"What. The. Hell!?" James blurted perplexed.
"It's gravity. And it can be used this way too." The Guardian announced and moved his hand vertically.
*SRRRRRR--WHOOSH!* The ball of fire and lightning stopped spinning and split in two halves that separated for a dozen meters while a broken shield continued flying off into the distance with an arm attached. *BWHOOOoosh!* The fireball with the confused Tsuen inside vanished. *BRRrrrzzZZT!* The attendant was forced to terminate his technique after losing the left arm and receiving a gash that separated his right shoulder from the body.
"AAARGRGHH!" Higan cried out in excruciating pain before flying away.
"Waahh!!? What happened?!" Tsuen questioned taking distance as well.
After the warrior recovered from the wounds, he gathered energy around the great sword with yellow moving streaks separating from the hilt like veins and going around while expanding for dozens of meters behind the man.
"That just now... You two--RUN!" Kenzu realized gritting his teeth and warned his companions.
"Kenzu...!?" Tsuen questioned but was ignored.
"HaaAAAH!" The black-haired man roared using all of his energy to create a massive metal blade. "Heaven Crusher!" He called out and charged disregarding the danger or damage taken.
"Then I'll too use my Spirit enhancing Pill..." The youth in gaudy clothes decided. "He won't see a Spiritual attack coming." He asserted and took out a small ball from his clothes then swallowed.
"Y-young master... don't! T-that's the m-most valuable thing y-y-you own!" The attendant reasoned while attempting to mend his body.
"It's the only thing that can harm someone through that astral technique," Tsuen said when his pale blue aura became a hundred times greater and more intense.
"B-but the m-mortal Soul will--!" Higan said worriedly.
"...Inconsequential." The orange-haired youth dismissed.
"No good!!" The guardian muttered flustered and raised from his chair before lifting both arms to the front.
"Wha--!? Did he just made metal out of nothing?"
"No. He... simply summoned it."
"Ah, I see..."
The glinting tip of the hundred-meter long blade continued approaching the unmoving phantom humanoid while small spatial cracks appeared where the cutting edge passed and chipped away the super-energized metal.
"Duuuude...! I can hear the suspense music!" James urged in trepidation.
*THUUUUNNNG!!* The protector shoot out a gamma-ray burst two meter wide that instantly hit the target. *Krsshh!* The high-intensity beam started melting the giant blade while slowing it down. The warrior struggled to push the normal-sized hilt strained to maintain his attack.
"Take this--Spirit Sword Beam!" Tsuen broadcasted pointing his sword at the busy protector two hundred meters away.
*SHROOONNNG!!*The pale blue aura turned into a transparent conical ray widening to tens of meters as it reached the suspended table.
"AH--!?" The mortal shivered uttering as everything banished at his location into light particles.
*WHOOOoosh!* The enormous blade passed in front of Tsuen blocking his line of view while breaking into chunks then smaller metal bits flickering before disappearing.
Tsuen sent his probe to the location and rejoiced. "W-we did it!"
"Uuugh... U-uuh...Guh!" Kenzu groaned and twitched as he drifted through space exhausted.
"I-I got you..." Higan assured covering the warrior with his aura. "If only we had recovery pills..."
"Where--? Where is it? Where's my sacred wood? No way--No way... Did it swallowed by a dimensional rift?!" The youngster mumbled desperately.
"Y-young master... dangerous!" The brown-haired youth warned.
"No, no, no, it's not here... Noooo!" Tsuen bellowed in frustration and continued searching desperately around the rifts.

8 569Horizon
Emiluna is about to turn 16 and gain access to her first two classes. Living in a small village in the middle of nowhere, she always wanted to become a Hunter. Having learned a bit under her parents, a miller and a seamstress, she was sure she could never pick a class that meant staying inside all day. But being a Hunter is more than just a class. It means providing meat for the village, culling small pests near the cultivated fields and most importantly guarding the village from predators and monsters. But Emiluna is not a normal girl and her destiny far bigger than she could have ever imagined.Join her as she finds out what awaits just behind the horizon.[Word from the author]I am looking to create a fantasy world that has some logic to it and stays believable even as characters gain power and progress in levels.Classes and level quantify the people's progress, but they do not artificially inflate their power to demi-god levels. I am primarily trying to write a captivating story, not "power-porn". That means it will be slower than the fast burning litRPG you might be used to, but it won't burn out that quickly either and I won't drop half of my plots at the wayside. I should mention that English is not my native language. I hope it is mostly unnoticeable, but sometimes I manage to slip some awkard sentence structure in there (German sometimes puts things together in reverse). It it also my first time writing an actual fantasy novel and the first time writing anything at length in English. Any constructive feedback is very welcome.Credit where credit is due: Cover picture by Paul Bica (Licensed under CC 2.0)Check out his amazing photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dexxusYes, my cover picture is a photo, not a drawing. :D I might try my hand at some Paint-ification later to add the title.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
8 177An Unwilling Monster
In the city of Kholakel, the highlight of the year for the upper classes is the annual monster pacification of the misty woods. Ostensibly it's a culling of the monster population to prevent them encroaching on urban areas, but it's an open secret that it's actually treated as more of a blood sport, the participants competing to score the most kills. After all, why else would the politicians and elites of the city bother to attend personally? Given the intense competition and high-tech weapons and gear in use, one might wonder how the forest has not yet been completely depopulated. As this year's culling approaches, a group of unfortunate children are about to discover the answer first-hand, but thanks to an unexpected twist of fate, one of them will score the chance to play the role of the hunter instead of the prey. This was an attempt at writing something darker than my usual fare. The story I actually ended up with isn't as mean to the MC as I'd originally planned out, to the point that I'm not sure the story deserves the horror/grimdark tags anymore, but this is still an unfair world with unambiguously evil antagonists. Chapters are short to start with, but get longer once the first act is over.
