《Number One Commander》Chapter 17 - How to deliver a beatdown

Werewolves from what Luon knew were beings of the dark, a monstrosity birthed from their evolution and desire for strength. They had appeared many times within the history Luon knew from the federations database, and there were many different kinds of werewolves.
The most common type of werewolves are found in the fantasy based solar systems and are otherwise known as beasts clans - they were populous, stronger than an average human and the most righteous race known to date. It was believed that they originated from wolves who received the blessings from the moonlight, but with the power of science, it was later found that mana was a major factor in their evolution.
However, that was only the case of werewolves in the fantasy solar systems, in the Nexus solar system where Luon was at there was another kind of werewolves. They were more bestial but brilliant and stealthy. Hidden from mankind for over centuries there were very few clues to their existence as well as other mythological creatures like vampires or sea serpents.
All the myths and stories about fantasy creatures were actually true, back then the amount of technology to support these claims as evidence were extraordinarily lacking but after the war with the Inzektors started they all re-emerged from darkness to claim a spot in today’s society.
The historical facts, what these beings did in the last few centuries before they came out into the spotlight were never revealed publically. After all of the happy times where humans were the most superior race these people face eternal discrimination and only existed in the dark.
Witch trials, curses, and wars as long as it was abnormal and inexcusably different than normal humans, they were one-sidedly slaughtered until humanity grew more intelligently reasonable and numb to such beings. For the average human nowadays not many would be surprised when tentacle monsters depicted from the imagination of fictitious content creators came to real life, in fact, some may even enjoy meeting them.
So to keep things fair, the new society buried our dark history - only leaving the information about the mythical creatures created by the drunkards and storytellers from way back. Around then there was no way to prove validity these fables and tales, so the information felt more like fan-fictions instead of accurate descriptions.
And from a few of these drunkards they suggested that the weakness of werewolves be some kind of chemical substance, some others believed they were immortal and the rest claim that they were impossible to defeat. Luon reasoned why it seemed like so was because they honestly never had the chance to dissect a live werewolf to test these theories out.
But now Luon, unlike those people, has a chance to do so, to find out the full potential of what a werewolf from the Nexus solar system, a being hidden from the dark records of humanity can possibly do.
The fight continues with Zythos heavily pressuring Luon to surrender until a quick series of pre-planned movements changed the flow of the battle.
Midway during the barrage of fist combos done by Zythos, Luon used his wind magic to accelerate backward catching Zythos off guard for a second, but he immediately closed the gap.

Luon expecting such fast reactions done by Zythos had also shot wind magic in a fixed pattern forcing Zythos who was sensitive to magic and the wind flow to slow down his pace by half to avoid these wind attacks.
But this gave Luon the opportunity to make his next move, from Luon’s intraspatial bag he pulled a particular object out and threw it with incredible speeds when supported by wind magic.
Zythos who was dodging a series of attacks while approaching Luon was only a few meters away from reaching Luon. Using his senses, he noticed Luon throwing a ranged projectile at almost point blank and with his lightning reflexes and incredible body control barely avoided it.
However, that attack was only a facade just as Zythos had dodged the attack he was forced to use his senses to their highest level of concentration. This included his sense of smell and the object Luon had tossed and missed him carried a particular weird scent making his body heat up and killed his sense of judgment slightly.
And right after he had dodged the attacked Luon bellowed as he slashes his blade toward Zythos. “Fetch!”
Instinctively Zythos who was not paying attention to Luon’s sword attack as he had just dodged the ranged one turned around to face the projectile Luon had thrown and analyzed it. He was deeply confused to find out that what he had eluded was a frisbee that Luon received from his parents for some recreational fun and was coated with an aphrodisiac his dad had secretly given him.
With a slash, Luon dealt with the distracted Zythos a huge blow causing almost a lethal amount of damages, coating his sword with blood.
Zythos unprotected back incredibly sprayed blood outwards but this attack woke him up from his confused state, and he quickly backs away to his best efforts.
A few meters of space was created was created between the two as Luon did not pursue his already wounded enemy, the sword drips fresh blood slowly.
Zythos was confused why did he subconsciously turn around when Luon yelled a few words at him? How could he have let this puny human deal so much damage to him?
Luon quietly posed himself, and his face was stern, however, inside his mind he was quietly celebrating the fact that his makeshift plan had worked.
From what Luon understands was that the basic werewolf was an evolutionary stage of a wolf to a bipedal version, however, how can a wolf reach such a stage by itself in the Nexus solar system?
In fantasy based systems it was scientifically proven mana helped changed them, but the discovery of mana in the Nexus solar system was shallow and underdeveloped, not many creatures can evolve that easily. However, some of them do, and Luon realizes that the evolutionary step of wolves required mana which was a type of energy.
He then thought what if werewolves were supplied with a different type of energy? Mythical creatures found on earth like vampires probably evolved from a formerly weaker version of itself, and then Luon realizes the most common factor.
Blood energy, DNA, and many genetics manipulations caused a significant amount of mutations around the world and werewolves probably were a mistake caused by that.

But for wolves to receive that much blood? It was impossible with the number of predators globally as wolves were practically non-existent during his first simulation. But there was one type of wolf that can receive that much blood. Domesticated wolves, trained by hunters and hobbyist they fought and entertained humans for meals. At one point it may even be possible to evolve, such a conclusion came to Luon’s mind.
And since they were trained as long as he was able to bring out the inner domesticated instincts of the werewolf he could create an opportunity for himself, that is why he numb Zythos senses with drugs.
Zythos was enraged at himself for falling for the attack and at the same time at Luon who caused it. His body began to glow as a bloodthirsty aura began to emerge.
Luon after seeing this scene used his Eye of Insight to find that Zythos combat level was rising, but he was confused if he wanted to overpower him why didn’t he use it at the start? Or why doesn’t pull out some tricks to deal with him? With these thoughts, Luon asked, “Aren’t you part of the 4 major factions? Do you not have any NG-Arms?”
With NG-Arms there was no way for Luon to beat Zythos. But after hearing Luon’s remarks, Zythos grew even angrier which in return increase the pacing of his rising combat level as he yelled, “As if I had one! Those bastards from Novera Corporations won’t sell them to us nowadays!?! Keeping all the good stuff to themselves! I’ll slaughter you and those bastards!”
‘Apparently, the Mythos clan has some bad relations with the other factions.’ Luon thought as he readied himself to face Zythos.
Reaching his maximum potential Zythos had the combat level of 48, raising over 10 levels with just a skill it seemed very broken and unfair to Luon.
Zythos charged at Luon without any traces of sanity left in him. If Luon was at the same physical fitness as Zythos, he could quickly take him down however he could only regret being so far behind. However, as Zythos came, Luon smiled as this was the perfect opportunity for his new trump card to come into play.
Zythos and Luon clashed again once more, Zythos Qi energy fist attack hammered against Luon’s sword, however, the outcome surpassed people's expectations. Luon’s sword powered by Zythos blood grew sharp as if seeking out for more blood it cleaved Zythos arm off from the shoulder. Without any resistance at all.
Everyone was shocked at that point, how powerful must that sword strike be to surpass the Qi coated on Zythos arm? Among those was Arisa who sensed an overwhelming bloodlust emitting from Luon’s sword and she grew extremely interested in it with desire after all she doesn’t have a good one compared to Shizuka with her customized one. If she were to have this sword, she would be able to best those within a single realm - about 10 levels higher than her at ease.
The one-armed Zythos at that point fell into the state of shock - he was missing an arm and losing that power struggle made him waver. He then fell unconscious due to loss of blood as an emotional struggle appeared like a demon in the heart to haunt him in the future. As he closed his eyes, he looked at Luon who stared back at him and cursed him internally.
Zythos last thoughts before he blacked out was “I... will kill you bastard... Luon Fate. Whether or not that’s the last thing I do...”
And with Luon the surprising victor to this match the crowd went silent, to use such a shameless trick to even out the battle was fair but very dishonorable. However, only a portion of the crowd thought so as the rest of them thought it was an authentic, reasonable and strategic move considering their differences in physical fitness. And then after that Luon had chopped a fellow classmates arm off, although medical treatment to cure it was available it still surprised quite a few.
Confused as they were they all watched Luon leave the stage while clapping absentmindedly.
Captain Waver who saw this although surprised about the turnabout nodded his head in approval. Afterall anything can happen during a real battle and a second of misdirection could lead to immediate death. With those thoughts, he began to re-queue the next match and arranged Zythos’s minions to get him off the battlefield.
Looking at the scene where they scurried about carrying their young master Captain Waver frowned at the unruly sight sighed and thought, ‘The Mythos clan unlike in the previous generations have grown more lawless and large, nowadays they suppress and bully the weak to relieve themselves of the stressful battles against the Inzektors. I can only hope that they don’t do anything worse than they have now, especially after this incident.’
With those remarks, several more normal battles followed suit and near the end of the class was finally Bendan Chen turn to fight.
Luon who was tired from the previous match was curious how well his fellow dorm mate would do, the other two were very skilled long-range attackers, and Bendan was supposed to be from a famous cultivator family.
Bendan's opponent was one of Zythos groupies, seeing how Bendan was a friend of Luon and in revenge, for his boss, he was determined to kill. He planned to attack before the match even started and laughed it off as a misfire using his rifle. However, when he struck before the match began Bendan used some kind of movement technique to disappeared and reemerged several meters to the right where he was, he then fires off a range Qi attack immediately giving no time for the opponent to react, the battle was instantly over.
Luon who watched all this thought, ‘I really need an attack skill, that was simply too damn fast.’
After this match, Luon planned to consult Bendan on how to get stronger, after all, he had just offended one of the 4 major factions in the Nexus solar system.
Without any strength how can he protect those he loved in the future? Whether or not it be other intelligent humanoid species or Inzektors as long as they target him, he will show them no mercy.
