《Life in another world with an Immunity System》16. Skill Points

With the world evolving into a higher form, it gave birth to energies like magic and ki. And humans were not the only ones to get an advantage. As the event triggered an evolution, the wild animals, sea animals, and even small bacteriophages, everyone benefitted.
From then, the demon beasts born. With the ability to use magic and ki, and their lack of intelligence, the existence of the demon beast became a nightmare to humans.
Tuskers evolved from wild boars that roamed the forest. While retaining the wild boar’s physical appearance, for the most part, Tuskers had some extra additions. They have bone spurs jutting out of their backs, which gave them a ferocious appearance. On their foreheads, there was a red horn that acts as a weapon for the most part.
Tuskers were not only physically more durable than an average boar, but also their ability to use ki was what gave them the status of a demon beast.
From the purple portal, no less than a thousand or probably more Tuskers poured out. As wild beasts by nature that ranked pretty low in the demon beast ranking, they followed their instincts more often than not. And in presence of a human, they become frenzied, attacking everything in their sight.
Snort!!
The beasts charged at Andel as he stood closer to the portal.
Fuck! Frenzy!!
Activating his ability, he dashed in a different direction than before. The surrounding walls of the shop were not that high, reaching only to his neck. Andel squeezed out every last percentage of power from his legs and jumped across the wall.
I am sorry!
Honestly, Andel didn’t even remotely think of protecting the hostages. His sole target of protection was Tia. He just wanted to go with the flow and save them if he can and give up if he can’t. Although he thought of that, it was hard to abandon someone to die. It weighed heavily on his mind.

Snort!!
The tuskers hadn’t given up on the pursuit. As soon as Andel jumped over the wall, a few around 15 Tuskers followed too. He took a look at his system and found the cooldown for his ability had reset.
Alright, time to farm some exps.
His confidence was due to the limited number of tuskers following him. He intentionally slowed down for the tuskers to catch up. When the forefront one did, Andel activated Frenzy again and turned around to give a devastating punch to the boar’s left eye. His boosted reflex ensured that he didn’t miss the spot. With the glove, his strength reached 19 points, which was equivalent to 190 PSI of attack power.
Splat!
The tusker’s eye area caved in, and Andel’s fist went through its mushy brain.
You have killed a Tusker.
+150 EXP
So much!
It's just one tusker, and yet, killing it gave him the same amount of EXP as 70 critters around Seras Mansion. Andel took a look at the remaining spurred boars as gears in his head started to turn. Fourteen tuskers, 2100 EXPs, can be converted to 21 Immunity Points.
His thought was cut short by the rumbling snorts of the tuskers. After seeing one of their’s getting killed, the remaining tuskers grunted. They sped towards the human who dared to kill one of theirs.
Andel hurried towards the shop adjacent to the Exon’s Armory. From the looks of it, it was a restaurant and a high end one at that. Due to the sudden stampede of demon beasts, the restaurant had closed its doors shut. But the parking lot at the front would provide an excellent cover for him to hunt each of them to death.
Andel snaked across the cars parked, trying his hardest to break out of their line of sight. Once they were unable to see him, it would provide an excellent opportunity for him to kill them one by one. The four-second cooldown was over, but Andel hesitated to use the ability.

It was because his stamina had fallen below 10.
I have to increase my stamina. As it stands, I can only Frenzy 3 times.
Andel rested his back behind a car. After making sure the tuskers hadn’t caught on to his trail, he breathed out a sigh and looked at the system screen.
You have enough EXP to exchange for Immunity points.
You have enough EXP to exchange for Skill Points.
Note: Skill Points can only be used to upgrade Special Abilities.
As he read all the new notifications, Andel found a new thing. Skill points.
Hmmm! So that’s how I have to increase my Special Ability level.
As Frenzy didn’t have an experience bar, Andel assumed that Special Abilities couldn’t be upgradable. He felt a bit worried. 1.5 seconds was just too short of a duration for a boost to last. He had already experienced its disadvantages whilst dealing with that mage and the tuskers.
Hmm, 100 EXP for 1 skill point, huh! It's the same as Immunity Points.
“Exchange for Skill Points.”
Affirmative!
You have got 1 Skill point.
Would you like to upgrade your Frenzy to level 2?
“Yes.”
Frenzy Lv 1 => Frenzy Lv 2 Frenzy Lv 2
After activation of the ability, for the next 2 seconds, Reflex gets a 250% boost. Strength and Defense increase by 70%.
Ability cost: 2 stamina/use
Cooldown: 3.8 Seconds.
Note: Requires 3 Skill points(calculated as 2*previous level’s point req+1) to upgrade the ability to level 3.
The upgrade in the ability came as a surprise when it wasn’t even clear what to expect.
In the beginning, he only wanted for the skill duration to increase. But the upgrades to damages and decrease of cooldown was indeed a surprise to the reincarnator.
Snort!!
He heard snorting coming from somewhere. The fourteen something tuskers were still searching for him. Clearly, they hadn’t given up on him. A single punch to their eyes was enough to take their lives. However, it would be a chore to pinpoint that part without using Frenzy.
Wait a minute. If I can kill two more, I can collect enough EXP to exchange for 3 SPs. I can level up Frenzy once more. If nothing changes, 2.5 seconds would be enough to kill a few more.
Tuskers may run fast, but his speed wasn’t any slower than theirs.
Andel took a look at his physical attributes and felt pleased seeing his stamina increasing by 2 points. Its regain rate at the moment was four per minute. That means, he could spam the ability three times before needing to wait. And after a short wait of one and a half minutes, he could repeat the cycle.
From his position behind the car, Andel observed two tuskers coming his way. They were quite far from the rest. If he could take them out swiftly, it might prevent others from being alerted.
One of the tuskers tried its hardest to squeeze in through the narrow space between the cars. Perhaps, it found something interesting there. It just didn’t give up squeezing through it.
Snort!! Snort!!
It squealed and snorted. A few tuskers looked it's way before giving out a snort and going their way.
Perfect! Now only one left. Frenzy!
Not wasting the god-given opportunity, Andel activated skill. After the time slow hallucination, Andel burst out from behind the car with his fist poised for a punch. The tusker didn’t expect for its ‘prey’ to suddenly appear before it and was unprepared for the punch that took its life.
After the killing blow, Andel grabbed its neck and pulled the lifeless body towards where he hid.
Weird. The two seconds isn’t over yet? Why do I still feel the effect of Frenzy?
You have killed a Tusker.

The total word count of the first 30 chapters will amount to about 225.000 words. My chapters range, roughly, from 5.000 to 10.000 words. I post with irregular intervals, on random days and at different times. I hope you will enjoy the story! English is not my first language and I am very much open to constructive criticism. Disclaimer: I regularly use impressionistic or abstract language on purpuse, when I think it might benefit the story.

Humans Are Evil (completed)
A world of magic, where empires rise and fall, and where civilization is never safe from the perpetual menace of the monsters that roam the land. In this volatile landscape Fera is reborn and must adapt to this new and ever-changing world. She will grasp at whatever opportunities she finds to escape her unfortunate birth as an orphan. Either excelling, or wallowing in self-pity, Fera will question if this world of magic was as fantastical as she initially thought. Note: The story is technically a litRPG, but much less like a game and more akin to real life, for example obtaining a class does not give free skills to the individual, it’s the other way around! Skills are what unlock your class, so an individual who learns magic skills will unlock mage classes, classes then provide passive buffs and stats, in my opinion this makes everything feel more earned so that the power levels in the world are more natural, rather than every single random person being a powerhouse.
