《Life in another world with an Immunity System》3. Leaving Home

“Absolutely not!” When he returned, his mother’s scream was the first thing he heard. Andel sighed for the umpteenth time as he tried to explain himself. He could understand her extreme denial, but isn’t this going way too far?
However, he was wrong with his assumptions. As a person who lacked parental love and care in his past life, how could he understand how his mother felt?
“But mom, if I don’t contribute to the family, then when I become twenty, they will throw me out to fend for myself.” Andel once again defended his decision. As a modern man with a level headed thinking, why would he choose something as dangerous as joining the assassination squad when he couldn’t practice either magic or ki?
The real reason behind his seemingly reckless decision was their family rule.
The Seras family was around since the beginning of the founding of the Uvriya Kingdom. Their ancestors fought their way through countless battles and earned glory for their future generations.
To not let their glory besmirched by the ignorant later generations, they made a rule which passed down in the family for centuries. No matter who is it, as long as they are from the Seras family and couldn’t show their capability before 20, the family will throw them out.
This rule was harsh and downright brutal. But it allowed the family to maintain their glorious standard for centuries.
The ability of a single person is limited.
Andel didn’t want to let go of such a huge tree, the Seras family, at any cost.
He understood the world way too well.
With the Seras family behind his back, there would be no one dare to bully him. Andel was perfectly aware of his situation. He was someone who didn’t have the aptitude to either magic or Ki. If not for the protection of his parents and their extraordinary statuses, his life would have been hell.
“But can’t you do anything else? There are other ways to prove your worth. Why must you join the assassin corps?” His mother hadn’t given up. She couldn’t understand why her son had to take such a big step.
If it was only training, she wouldn’t have opposed it. But her son wanted to complete be a part of the assassination corps. How can she agree to it?

All dangers aside, his name would forever be cleaned away from the family register. As a mother, she didn’t want such a thing to happen to him.
“Mom, I want to do this.” Andel insisted, “I don’t want to be an average person.”
“And I also have a secret.” He added as an afterthought.
“What secret?” Finally, his father, a man in his thirties responded, who has been silent this whole time. Andel’s father was a handsome man with long bangs pulled in a ponytail. He had an angular face, a well-proportioned body, and a look so captivating that it could enchant anyone.
He was one of the most eligible bachelors during his youth.
Andel inherited all his looks, making him more handsome that his past life.
Looks aside, he was also a very powerful magus, having reached 3rd Heaven in just 20 years of practice. Moreover, he was also a rare tri-elemental magus. It wouldn’t be wrong to say there was none more talented than him in this whole Uvriya.
He was also one of the most suited candidates to inherit the patriarch seat of the Seras family in the near future.
As his son, Andel would have enjoyed a life full of riches if not for that pesky rule of the Seras family. Even still, as a transmigrator with a unique system at his disposal, if he didn’t use its potential to the fullest, it would be a shame.
“I am not actually as useless as everyone thinks I am.” Stopping for a second to let his parents digest, he continued, “I have an inborn ability, a superpower, so to speak.”
“What superpower?” His mom was the first to respond with a question. As for his dad, he was still in a state of shock.
Superpowers weren’t that unique in this world. People could either born with it or awaken it at a later phase of their life. Its abilities also vary, some useless, and some powerful. With such being the case, not many people looked optimistically towards these so-called superpowers.
“I can gain immunity to almost anything as long as I have experienced it at least once or twice.” There was no reason for him to hide, to his own parents no less. Andel believed that there should exist no secrets between family. What’s more, they were his parents. As far as Andel was concerned, even if the whole world betrays you, only your parents will support you.

“Immunity? As in resistance?” His father inquired. He had a look of absolute seriousness as it concerned the future of his son.
“Not, not resistance. I meant complete immunity.” Andel corrected his dad.
“Is there a difference?” His mother asked. She couldn't understand why they were talking about it.
“Hmm, there is a huge difference.” Andel’s father said, “resistance of a thing means it can be overcome with a bit of power. However, Immunity means he would become completely invulnerable to that particular thing.”
Then he looked at Andel in the eye. The later could see the concealed excitement in his father’s eyes. Opening his mouth, the handsome man asked, “to what are you immune to? Does this have a limit?”
Andel looked at his excited parents’ face and couldn’t help but nod internally.
Yes, I also had that exact reaction when I saw this kind of unique system.
Collecting his thoughts, he said, “Currently, I have immunity to fall damage, pain, disease, fatigue, drown and a few miscellaneous ones. And yes, it does have a limit. It is currently at the stage of resistance and not yet reached the stage of complete immunity.”
After that, Andel went on and one about his system. He described how his ‘Superpower’ worked, which took at least an hour.
“So it's like a game. But only you can see it, right?” Andel’s father sighed while feeling amazed. The mysteries of the world are truly deep. Even something like this was also possible.
“You are saying that all these Immunities are currently low leveled so you can still feel them, correct?” His mother asked.
“Yes. That’s so, mom.” Andel nodded.
“Then how do you increase your level?”
“Mmm, by continuously getting hit by the same thing.” Andel stammered. He was about to say ‘killing’ but held himself back at the last second. He didn’t know how would his parents feel about this, and he didn’t want to take the risk.
While he didn’t have qualms about talking about his abilities, he still felt a bit reserved about this particular thing.
“Hahaha!!” Suddenly his father laughed loudly, startling the mother and child as he did so.
“What happened? Have you gone mad?” His mother angrily snapped at him and asked back while fuming from her nostrils.
“Its nothing. I just thought of something funny.” He shook his head and grinningly looked at his mom, “Lilian, when our son matures, won’t he become an immutable existence? At that time, would anyone dare to say my son’s a waste? Just thinking about those old prunes’ faces make me laugh.”
“You…” Both his mom and Andel were struck speechless.
They had nothing to retort.
…
“Son, take care of yourself, okay?”
“Yes, mom, I will. Now please hang up the phone. This is the 15th time you have called me in the last hour. I am hanging up, okay? I will call you back when I can.” Andel sighed and switched-off his phone before throwing it on the table of the small rented hotel room. It would be the last time hearing from his mother for a while. It would be a lie if said he wasn't feeling sad.
He had left the Seras Manor the night before to report at the assassination corps located at a secluded corner of the town. He would have to introduce himself to the in-charge there the next day as it was already dark when he reached the place. He had seriously underestimated the vastness of the world.
‘I must become stronger.’ He thought with a clenched fist. He believed that only by getting stronger can he look after himself and his family. Back on Earth, being strong means having money and connections, and in this world, personal strength matters the most.
He failed in his last life. But, he was determined to not fail in this one too.
However, will it be that easy?
Only time could tell.
