Knight of Mind, Cereb Belius, opened his eyes.

That vision, my body falling while my head was cut off from it…

Was that all just a dream? Were those horrifying visions just an illusion? The last thing I remember is the man called Dark Lord stealing my armor and getting away…but I still have the armor on. And my head is still intact. What is going on?

His body however was involuntarily shivering, convulsing, and spewing chunks on the ground.

He was alive, but he was in the state of shock. Those visions of torment that must be what hell looked like.

How long was I unconscious? Why did I see myself die after I pulled myself into my body, for that matter how am I still alive? Maybe, I did not exit his mind when I thought I did, so ended up seeing what he planned to do to me, and confusing the mind with reality I ended up thinking that I was actually dead. That was close, if my body believed my mind, then I fear I would have shut down completely.

It takes only a second in the real world for mind intrusion to be finished. So the Dark Lord still must be here….

He was there all right. But he no longer was restrained by Knight of Mind.

“Here comes the nutcracker!”

What?

He couldn’t react in time as he received an upper cut to the groin area.

Then, laughing like a maniac, Dark Lord proceeded to grab his weapon lying on the ground and run away.

Knight of Mind was too overwhelmed by pain to even move, he laid there on the ground, clutching his lower body, the pain being unbearable.

Good news-he was alive, bad news- he let the enemy get away after suffering a rather traumatic damage to his privates.

I will get you for this, Dark Lord!!! Even if it the last thing I do, I will hunt you down, I will travel to the four corners of the kingdom to find you! This pain, this humiliation, you will regret the day you raised a hand against a hero, Knight of Mind, Cereb Belius! I will get you, you Laughing Devil!

As brave as he was in his thoughts, due to the pain, he soon passed out. Dark Lord did not hold back at all with his nutcracker. Although, later Knight of Mind would be glad that the vision of his death was merely a fantasy he saw within Dark Lord’s mind, it sure did not make his humiliating defeat in reality any better.

After he woke up, he could not recall anything about the Dark Lord, aside from the name Dark Lord and his maniacal laugh. The only surviving prison guard could only remember the frightening laugh after that fateful day.

Knight of Mind even proceeded to coin a nickname for a wanted poster for Dark Lord with no picture on it, the nickname was the Laughing Devil.

A new rumor soon came to be created, with parents scaring their children to go to bed or the Laughing Devil will get them. The term Laughing Devil thus was immortalized due to this very incident.
