《Aegis》Chapter 51: Metal Ripper

You look at Jace like he is an idiot and shake your head, "we stick together. Lead the way to the sensor array."
Several more hours and even more long, empty hallways later...
You arrive at the main sensors array, and Jace starts poking around. Opening maintenance hatches, tapping buttons and turning knobs. You set the armsmen to set up for a long watch and wait.
Not even five minutes later, Jace pauses and stares under the cover he just removed for a long moment. He puts it back without making any changes, "I may have the sensor array re-calibrated sooner than expected. Proceeding."
You glance over at Inquisitor Olaf, who has been suspiciously quiet for a while, "Any news from the Deathwatch?"
Olaf shakes his head, "nothing. Which is probably a good thing."
You are about to ask more questions when a voice comes over a speaker in one of the control consoles, "power restored. System self-test complete. System self-calibration complete. Scanning local area. Scanning shipyard."
What alarms you isn't the sudden announcement. You were half expecting something with Jace poking around. What alarms you is for all of the announcement stilted, mechanical phrasing, the voice wasn't mechanical at all. It was deep and resonant, like a lone baritone in a concert hall. Consoles are lighting up all around you, data spilling across their displays far faster than you can read. Mu'randa is coming over your microbead, "Sir the Terra Incarnadine is, well, doing something."
Before you can even begin to respond, Olaf is grabbing his microbead, "Pyrus, confirm that."
The console screens flicker again, the green symbols flowing aside to reveal a readout of Gibli. The voice speaks again, "Local area scan complete. Shipyard scan complete. Three bio-forms detected: Adeptus Astartes from Legions Six, Thirteen, and Eighteen. Multiple automatons detected: unknown pattern. Estimated count: seventeen thousand of various types."
Olaf's face has gone bone white, "Olaf to all Deathwatch. Omega. I say again, Omega, Omega, Omega. Necron presence confirmed. Fall back to the Aegis."
