《Aegis》Chapter 46: Drop the Hammer

You draw Serpentsbreath and sidestep. Daniel goes charging on past you and trips over Morrigan's slipper-clad foot.
She promptly steps on his back and stares at his men. They haven't taken more than a few steps, and come stumbling to a halt when they see the various firearms in peoples hands and the look of absolute disgust on Morrigan's face.
You take a moment to glance over at the bar, where Elena has re-appeared with a pair of bolt pistols in hand. you sigh in relief, but don't sheath Serpentsbreath, "Time to get to the bottom of this before somebody gets killed. Elena, why does Daniel here want your head on a plate?"
Elena looks nervous, but answers in a calm tenor, "His brother Tavish mistook me for a wench and asked the price of a romp. I told him no, but he followed me into the back when I went to take a piss. I told him to leave, but he got grabby. So I kicked his ass up between his ears, took his guns, and left him face-down in his own puke."
Daniel lets go of his sword, which Morrigan promptly kicks away, and rest his head on the floor, "That sounds like Tavish, the dumb git. Found him puke-stained and weaponless in the gutter, bleeding from a busted nose."
Morrigan all but doubles over in laughter, "So ye almost picked a clan-war with House Von Sebastion, House Saurlance, and House Dannan, and pissed of Goibihniu in the bargain, all over a barmaid?"
Daniel sighs, "aye. Sounds dumb when ye put it like that. Will ye accept weregild instead of me head?"
Morrigan manages to look serous for a moment, "yes. Go help Goibihniu fetch the next round of ale, and we'll discuss it." She helps him to his feet and hands him his sword.

Daniel nods his thanks, "right lads, ye heard the Lady of the Dance. let's go haul some kegs!"
He and his men head out, and everyone starts putting blades and guns away. You nod to Zheeves, who follows Daniel out the door. Satisfied that he will keep his word, or at least not cause any more trouble, you return you gaze to Elena, "So with Morrigan taking on a position here, I need someone to fill her role off-world. Are you interested?"
Elena holsters her bolt pistols, "What'd it entail?"
You shrug, "Leading men, kicking ass, and taking names where needed."
Elena shrugs, "well, I led a clan 'fore they got killed by pieholes, and it'd beat slinging beer to Tavishes, so I'm in."
You hear the boisterous noise of a group of people approaching your hall, "It looks like I've got more guests to greet. Stick around after the party, we can talk more then."
You sheath Serpentsbreath and turn to the still-open door, wondering if Goibihniu is back already. Instead, you are greeted by the sight of Direwolf walking in, a keg on one shoulder and a wine barrel on the other. With him is a bald, pot bellied man clad in dark robes, his face adorned by an epic fire-red mustache and beard.

The Pharaoh's Dancer
"Do you know what to do, Amunet?" A voice as sweet as silk whispered into the young girl's ear. Amunet didn't look over her shoulder, but shifted uncomfortably on her bare feet before nodding her head. A soft hand touched her back and urged her forward. All eyes turned towards the girl dressed in transparent linen with her dark hair tumbling down her back and her violet eyes lined by kohl. Every movement caused the jewels on her wrists and ankles to dangle and shimmer in the light. She raised her head and found the Pharaoh's transfixed stare. His jade eyes narrowed in on hers and the room became still and silent. Amunet bowed and, at the pluck of a harp string, began to dance.---cover by @AddietayDoes contain reference to some mature themes that may not be suited for a younger audience.
