“We only have the one light crystal, we use candles for the rest of the house if it’s needed. You can stay in this room here. The door across from here is my room.” He points at the other door as he opens the one in front of him. Behind the door is a small room, the inside of which is bare besides a futon covered in a blanket and a small table. There is one window in the room with some heavy curtains over it and a little table has an unlit candle resting on top of it.

“It’s a guest room, but we never really have guests.”

Zhi walks into the dark room, looks around for a moment before going to sit on the blanket. “This is more than enough. Make sure you sleep well, I will wake you in the morning.”

Zhao begins to close the door but stops short, leaving it cracked open. His low voice can be heard from just outside, “Thanks for today Zhi, and thanks for showing me I can be good at something.” The door finishes closing before Zhi can reply.

Shaking his head, Zhi just smiles to himself in the dark room.
