《AS LONG AS IT'S INTERESTING, ISN'T IT FINE TO LIVE AS A DUNGEON? (Hiatus)》Chapter 13 : Nature's Fury

It didn’t take long to incorporate some of the new additions to the dungeon. Most of it was just metals, plants, and aquatic life. The environment was all already prepared anyways. I think even lunch will take longer to prepare. I’m more excited about this than the metals honestly. There’s only so much variety we could have made without more ingredients. While I planned on perfectly reproducing the lunch I absorbed from the cart, I’m also going to make a little feast. Can’t help being excited when I finally get my hands on some nice starchy ingredients. I go about preparing lunch while focusing my dungeon senses on Saeri and the people she’s guiding.

That said. It’s pretty mundane for a dungeon. At least, judging from the stories and rumors anyways. It’s not like I’ve been in another dungeon before.

Kanva’s been muttering quietly all this time, wandering here and there. Kesia is enjoying this too leisurely, as if it was just any old stroll. That girl, Saeri. She’s just been looking at us quietly. For someone who has supposedly been out here alone for weeks I thought she’d be a little more talkative now that she’s got the chance. Still…

[Vance] Hey. Um. I know this is late but do you need help? We could bring you out of the dungeon if you want. Kanva is really strong and a stupid dungeon can’t stop -

Even I was aware that I was sort of rambling but the look she gave me cut off any train of thought I had. She was looking sort of nervous and fidgety but that quickly transformed into a cold glare.

[Saeri] No thank you. I am perfectly happy here with Eita. I would appreciate you not insulting her like that. She was the one who helped me and gave me more purpose and happiness than I could have imagined. If you wanted to help, perhaps it should have been before I was brought to be fed to a dungeon.

I… wasn’t sure what to say. What could I say? Certainly we’ve seen her around. We vaguely knew that she didn’t have anyone to rely on. Everyone vaguely knew such things in such a small place. But we never did take the time to stop and ask.

I don’t know how long I was there looking pathetic and apologetic when Kanva broke me out of my worried reverie.

[Kanva] THIS IS ALL WRONG. Can this dungeon not even understand the basics? Terrible. Just terrible. Get over here we’ve got work to do.

This shocked Saeri and Kesia as much as me. Kanva is usually a quiet person so imagining the kind of mood she must be in gave us all goosebumps. Even Saeri seemed to forget the previous mood and hurried over.

[Saeri] U um. What’s wrong?

[Kanva] What’s wrong? What’s wrong? Everything! Everything is wrong. This whole place is wrong. Island Blooms shouldn’t be that far from the water. Lunar Collard only grow on high grounds. The Humble Jack-In-The-Bush can’t be that close to Chill Bites. The Milking Vines only grow on Brer Trees. It’s like this dungeon doesn’t know anything.

[Saeri] I mean the placements are a little off but all the plants look fine. It’s not like it’s hurting anybody. No need to make such a big fuss about it.

Uwah. Backtalk. At least Kesia and I have learned better than to do that.

[Kanva] As if forcibly keeping plants alive by pumping in mana can be called fine. It’s hurting the plants. And what will you do when people who are used to this mess goes outside to try to find things with their twisted knowledge?

[Saeri] Fine I’ll ask Eita to fix it so - Ah what are you doing?

Pieces of dirt and rock and plants started lifting themselves off the ground and moving all over.

[Kanva] Well? What are you lot waiting for. Get to work. We’re fixing this mess that the dungeon made.

[[[Kesia, Vance, Saeri]]] Y-yes

While Kanva was focused on moving around trees and harder to transplant items, we grabbed and pushed areas of floating plants and rocks. Kesia focused on the large floating patches of plants. I helped relocate several insect nests as well as hard to reach places such as the cliffs. Saeri mostly handled the river plants and ushering around the various animals that were suddenly uncovered. We spent the greater part of an hour just moving plants. Luckily Kanva floating them made things much easier for us but it was still all panicked running around for an hour.

[Saeri] I hope she’s not going to do this for all the other rooms.

[Kesia] Oh no. There’s not too many more rooms right? Right?

[Vance] I… I mean it’s just a new dungeon. It can’t be that big.

[Saeri] This place is huge. There’s several floors Eita wanted me to show you guys too.

Hah.

We all sighed and grumbled and trudged on towards the next room. Not too loudly of course. We wouldn’t want to tick Kanva off even more.
