《Starborne Warrior》Chapter 8: Johnson

At last, I found the damn Guild. It was massive, basically a metal dome, painted black.

“Thanks Au-ha”

“It's no problem, Sir Star.”

“You may call me John, au-ha” I was quite fond of the little data spirit. Helpful, friendly, and only appearing when you wanted her too. The perfect woman.

“Just call me if you need me again, John.” She said as she disappeared. I wonder just how many people in this world were in love with this thing. I was already thinking of ways to take her with me.

I took a nice stretch, it was nighttime. I could see the stars. A comforting presence, it was reassuring to know they were watching. Guiding my fate.

“Those are my brothers and sister, my kin. They were frozen In time, and the stars no longer move.” The Lord of stars began, “They are fated to rot in this stillness for eternity. I am hoping with all my heart you will help me change that.”

I had never heard him speaking so sincerely before. He had a demonic aura about him, an uncaring nature for almost all life. But clearly, this matter was important to him.

“Of course, Big Star. I consider you a great friend. You have allowed me to take this journey. Something I have been waiting for my entire life. I will help you with whatever you need. I owe you a great deal.”

“You’re still calling me Big Star?” The Lord laughed, honestly, for the first time since I’ve met him. But still, I felt the mania growing, inside him, and inside me.

“It'll do for now.”

I was feeling good at the moment. Reaching somewhat of a harmony with the being in my head. It caused a sort of balance, a sort of resonance. I felt a little closer to the stars as I walked toward the dome and reached the door.

It opened on its own suddenly, and a small man ran into me, falling on the ground.

“Ahh, Sorry brother. That’s my bad, hahaha.” I reached and picked up the little guy, “What’s your name? You can call me John.”

A silence ensued.

The man stared up at me, I wondered if I frightened him, or threatened him. On the way here, I noticed quite a few stares. I clearly looked way different from an average human. Maybe the tail, the shell-armor, the blood red skin and tall stature didn’t help.

“Well, don’t worry about it.” I awkwardly said and stepped by him. Just as I was walking I heard a mutter.

“You…” he began. “You….” he kept saying you, over and over. I thought he was going to flip out and prepared mentally.

“You are such a kind man!” he raved. “My name is Johnson, oh my goodness, brother, you have no Idea the day I’ve had. No, the life I’ve had. Dear god. Why is everyone so cruel but you?” he looked me up and down.

“What are you?” The man was excited and friendly, he reminded me of a much more talkative Au-ha.

“A beast from another world. What are you?” I looked at him, a handsome man, by all means. Short black hair, and a cloaked frame, with a clearly fit body underneath.

“Same, brother. Same.”

We both laughed heartily, in excellent moods. A little bit of kindness at the right time can form a lifelong bond.

From that moment onward, I had gained a new brother. A man named Johnson Lux.

“You’re kidding, right? This woman is your sister?” I held out the photo of the woman I took from the magazine.

“Don't show this to me. This woman is a complete narcissist and egomaniac. She was a prodigy of swordsmanship, and magic in the element of light, and later a woman famous for her looks. She was an icon of a young generation. Women wanted to be her, and men wanted to… you know.” He sounded stressed.

“You have no idea how many people have gotten close to me just to reach her; I haven’t had a real friend my entire life. But you…You are clearly unique. But If you tell me you want to meet her, I’m leaving.”

“No,” I laughed and waved my hands, “I’m searching for someone called ‘The Lord of Alloy’ or the Lord of this world. Do you know anything?”

“Hmmmm…” while most would mock, the man named Johnson actually thought of how he could help. “A-ha! I remember an old story; it was about the creation of the earth-” Suddenly, Au-ha appeared from behind him, scaring him out of his seat.

“How can I help?” she asked innocently.

“Holy shit! I just peed a little. This happens way too often.” He sighed, “Just take a seat or something. Record this story, for posterity.” I could tell he was a little proud of this contribution.

“The story goes like this.”
