Congratulations!
Your trial period has ended. You will now receive your class.
Shadow Slime Warrior
Slimes are in your mind and in your blood. The eternal darkness is where you excel the most. Your enemies will tremble in front of your stickiness or slipperiness. In the dark they will fear you and you will consume them with a smile on your face.
Congratulations!
You have obtained a never seen before class during your trial period.
Considering how long AoL has been open and the number of users, this is considered a great achievement.
All your Stats increase by 5. You will receive a bonus skill of your choice.
New skills and spells added:
· Slimification: You can turn any part of your body into slime consistence.
· Slime summoning: You can summon a slime pet. The pet will share experience with you and can be re-summoned after death.
· Resistance to darkness: Every darkness attack will have 50% reduced effect on you. Increased vision at night.
· Resistance to electricity: Every electrical attack or buff will have 25% reduced effect on you
· Weakness to fire: Every fire related attack will have 500% more effect on you.
· Weakness to light: Every light related attack will have 100% more effect on you.
· Slime muscles: Small resistance to some physical attacks and poisons.
You will not be able to choose any spell or skill unrelated to slimes or darkness. Remember that you can always discover new skills. Combining skills you already have or by using them in creative ways new skills can be created.
You can choose one bonus skill between these ones:
· Acidic shot
· Concealment
· Sonar
“Ahahaha! Ahahaha!” Zortex could not stop laughing. Shadow Slime Warrior. What a funny name. “Interesting. Interesting!” Zortex was curious to see what would happen at the end of the process.
He looked at the characteristic of the additional options:
· Acidic shot: You can form a ball of acidic substance and shoot it at your enemy.
· Concealment: You will blend in the shadows and it will be difficult to notice you.
· Sonar: You will be able to navigate in the darkness by emitting imperceptible sound waves and listening to the echo
Zortex didn’t care about Concealment. It would be nice to have it, but for now it didn’t look important. The other two skills on the other hand were a lot more interesting. He could already see better in the dark from his resistance to darkness, and he noticed his lack of offensive skills and spells. Acidic shot would be the most logical choice. So Zortex chose Sonar.
Is it madness? Maybe. Zortex had the feeling that it would be much easier to obtain Acidic shot somewhere else, however Sonar looked like a rare skill.
Congratulations!
Your real journey starts now. The World is large and full of adventures. Have fun!
Zortex felt his body changing. It was a really weird sensation, quite unpleasant. After 10 seconds the process stopped and he started moving and testing himself. He could still move as normal. Everything felt the same, only to him it seemed like he had something akin to new muscles that he had never used.
He tried to flex one… or something like flexing. All around him things changed. He felt like everything was screaming. He fell on the ground and tried to cover his ears. The screaming stopped before his hands could reach his face.
He checked himself again and he felt fine. On the other hand the bar of his stamina had been halved in those 2 seconds.

Perplexed Zortex looked at his status screen. “Status”.

Sonar was level 2. Apparently that’s what he had just used. So why did it hurt like that? He could not understand anything, so Zortex sat down and prepared for what was going to come.
He repeated the same procedure as before and again he rolled on the ground overwhelmed by the magnitude of the sensation. After the effect ended, as suddenly as before, Zortex checked his stats again. His stamina was completely depleted. He started breathing hard and he felt really tired. That was the sign of the lack of stamina.
After recovering a bit, Zortex checked the level of the skill and it was still lvl 2. What am I doing wrong? Where is a mentor when I need him? Ah, of course! He would be out in the open teaching the other noobs like me he thought.
Should I just restart from zero? There was the option to cancel the 'account' and repeat the trial starting anew. Before, he would have had to wait 30 days more, but now that he had passed the trial he would have no more trouble. That was one of the reasons he persevered in his quest to stay alive. To show that he had the willpower to do anything to get to the top now that he was in Endless. After some deep thinking he decided to continue like this for a while longer to see how this would go, after all he got a Unique class. That was not something happening every day.
He waited 10 minutes for his stamina to get up and then he tried again with Sonar. He was more prepared this time but it was still overwhelming. The same as before, he was laying on the ground catching his breath. There must be something he was not understanding. The only way to understand was to go on and learn by himself through experience. Zortex tried three more times and he always ended up the same.
Curious, he decided to see what would happen if he tried the skill when he had almost no stamina. He expected something to tell him that he could not activate it.
To his surprise the skill activated, but just for a fraction of a second. He barely had time to feel it.
“So the duration of the skill was proportional to the quantity of Stamina” Zoran mused.
Just like that he understood what was happening. The effect of the skill depended on how much stamina he was expending on it and the duration was controlled by him or by the amount of stamina left. He was basically putting too much energy in it.
He waited to recover his Stamina and attempted again, trying to flex that imaginary muscle less than before.
This time the amount of screams was a lot less. Still too much for him to focus on anything, so he lost control and again poured all his stamina into the skill at full power falling to ground holding his head. It was much harder than he thought.
Going full power was much easier, but for an ability like Sonar it was counterproductive. He needed to go very low to understand only his surroundings. It needed a level of control he didn’t possess at the time. Maybe the maximum level of power would be useful in the open and directing it in a specific direction. He decided to move on for now. Maybe by checking the other abilities he would get an insight on how to proceed with this one.

Zortex tried one of the other two imaginary muscles he felt. This time he went as delicate as he could. Nothing happened. He tried harder and still nothing. The third time he put all the effort he could and he felt something releasing from inside him. Something he didn’t even realize having until he lost it.
His mana bar went down completely and he felt the energy moving through his body collecting on his hand. It started to get painful to just hold it there, so he tried throwing it on the ground. It felt as if it was something solid. After leaving his hand he could not feel it anymore and of course he could not see anything. He waited, holding his breath, and he was rewarded a second later with the sound of something squishy moving. The noise of a slime came close from where his leg was. Zortex was about to jump away when the slime attached itself to his foot.
Naturally his mouth started drooling. A new slime to eat was always a nice surprise. He stopped himself just before stabbing it. The slime was not attacking him. It was just staying there waiting.
Of course! What an idiot I am. He had just used the Slime Summoning spell. It seems that it required all of his mana to make it work. A sudden thought came into his mind and a malicious smile appeared on his face.
He could basically use his mana to make food. He could just keep summoning his pet and eat it as food. This was great news. He would never have to starve again. And Slimes are super delicious! It was a win-win situation.
He wanted to check the status of his pet but how could he do that? Zortex tried saying “Status Pet”. It was the right choice.
Things sometimes were easy but he would not trust his luck much. If he could see Luck as a stat it would probably be a negative number. Or maybe super positive. He had to suffer a lot, but he also survived when most people would have just died.

Zortex’s face betrayed all his disappointed. Not exactly the strongest pet ever, however he was curious to see how it will become after leveling it up. There was hope to get a somewhat useful companion.
“I will call you Pravin” Zortex said to it. It vibrated a little. Maybe it meant that it was happy, or it was complaining…how could he know? He didn’t speak Slimese yet, no matter what his class said. Probably Pravin would not be happy if it knew that Zortex wanted to put it in the menu for the dinner.
Now Zortex had to try the last skill. He wasn’t really sure what to expect from it. Slimification sounded awful, but there could be some advantages depending on the situation. He waited for his mana to get back to the maximum, although he didn’t know if it would consume mana or stamina.
Zortex tried flexing a little that imaginary muscle. He felt a bit of mana leaving his center and saw the mana bar reducing at the corner of his dark vision. He focused his mind to send the mana to his right hand to make a tentacle like slimes liked to do. He tried to imagine the picture in his mind, but Zortex could not even direct the mana in that direction. It was escaping in all other zones.
Zortex attempted again as he had still plenty of mana left. He did a better job this time, but still it was beyond him to send it exactly where he wanted, and he felt no result at all. He spent the next two hours doing just that.
Zortex was getting angrier by the moment. He thought that people during their trial month had 30 days to keep practicing things like this, and with the help of a teacher. On the other hand he had to spend a month in complete darkness fighting for his survival and almost starving to death. Zortex would definitely have his revenge. Matthew was going to die. He imagined a slime covering all of Matthew body and digesting him slowly in a painful way.
That image sparked an idea. Slimification could make any part of his body become like a slime. What if I overpower the spell using all the mana at once? Can I become a full slime? He laughed and tried right away.
All the mana poured through his body and he felt himself…melting. That was the best way to describe it. He had no more solid parts and he reached the floor as a gelatinous mass crashing to the ground.
He focused his mind on his new body and felt he could still move by hardening some flexing zones and liquefying others, but it was really complicated. His mana was gone, but his body remained in that status. Now he had to understand how he could get back to his original form.
Meanwhile for the next 10 minutes he exercised to be able to move as he wanted. It was difficult but after he started picturing himself as a snail he improved a lot. Then suddenly, without alarm, his slime body stiffened and reformed into a human body. He felt a bit nauseous but he got over it soon after. He also realized that he hadn’t lost his pants. He didn’t have his clothes on while ‘sliming’ , but they reformed around his human body afterwards. Right now his items meant nothing, but in the future he didn’t want to lose all his stuff every time. Pravin kept quiet during all this training.
Zortex decided he had to train his skills before leaving the room. After spending so much time in it, he felt a bit anxious at leaving it. He had to kill Matthew out there, but how could he do that with no skills? Here he had food and time, the best things to train undisturbed. He would surpass his enemy and he will come out of here with unimaginable power.
He had already mastered Slime summoning. There was nothing to it apart from shooting the right amount of mana and wait for Pravin to appear at his side.
Next he decided to improve his control over Slimification. He would use that skill to move through the bars of the iron door and get to an exit when he would decide to leave.
First, he continued to completely become a slime and learn how to move in that body. After a few hours he had become a lot better, although his movement were still very awkward. His shape was changing according to his wishing, however he was very slow and sometimes he simply went wrong on some part of his slime body.
He wanted to give a new try to Sonar, but his stomach started making noises reminding him that he needed to eat. He would train better with a full stomach so Zortex looked in the direction were Pravin should be. It was not moving but Zortex could feel it anyway. Was this the bond between master and pet? He started to drool again.
“One hour. If no other slime passes by in the next hour I will eat you” Zortex told his pet. Maybe it was his imagination but he thought that Pravin moved a bit away from him.
Once again he made a small cut on his hand and prepared the bait. While waiting he decided that he should keep himself busy, so he slapped his face and activated the Sonar ability as low as possible. He was so afraid that he ended up not sending any energy at all. Zortex tried again and this time he used it too much so he had to stop himself right afterward. At least he didn’t overpower it in the confusion. That was an improvement for sure.
After 20 minutes a slime appeared. Finally it was meal time so Zortex went to attack it as usual, but before he could reach it Pravin had already stretched a tentacle and attacked it.
“STOP IT!” he shouted angrily at his pet. “That is my dinner. If you want some, go hunt by yourself”. Pravin readily withdrew and let his master do his job. Zortex was happily eating his food when a notification appeared to him.
New skill discovered:
· Slime eating: by eating a slime your HP and MP will recover by the same amount of HP and MP the slime had. Further leveling the skill may increase the percentage of recovery.
“Yes! One more reason to eat slimes”. Like that he prepared a new trap. It was time to grind to improve this last skill. At least he didn’t need any MP or stamina for it and it would be delicious.

It was a war. It was silent, so silent that few people ever noticed that it was happening, and long. So long that those who knew forgot why it ever started. Humanity had fought against itself... and lost. The resistance had been long silenced with the policy of bread and games. Now, over a hundred years later, something happened. One of the Sovereigns created a VRMMORPG like none other. A science fiction game, where players could explore the Galaxy... full of advanced technologies, bloodthirsty aliens and even magic. Was it a simple computer game, or... something else?
