Authors note: Thank you very much to everyone reading this.
Here's another chapter, enjoy!
The next morning Yo Mei dressed Yu Lin in the finest clothing that they had. She dressed Yu Lin in a silky white dress, and pulled a pink robe with black patterns on it over her. Shen then bundled Yu Lin’s soft white hair up into a pink cap. Yu Lin could feel the softness of the silk and she fell in love with the black patterns. She knew that Yo Mei had sewn this all by hand as she did with all her other clothes. Yu Lin felt very blessed to have such a kind mother. In her previous life her mother had passed away at a young age leaving her with her stepmother who wasn’t very fond of Yu Lin.
After breakfast Yo Mei brewed one of the Kula roots and poured it out for Yu Lin. Yo Mei only used one Kula root because Yu Lin was a three year old. Had Yu Lin been ten she would’ve used five Kula roots. Since the Kula roots had a very powerful effect one can only take it once every month, once one is used it is useless.
“Drink this Yu Lin. Even if it doesn’t taste good, promise mama you'll finish it okay?” Yo Mei was worried that Yu Lin would refuse the drink. Yu Lin only nodded as she started to gulp the drink down. Although Kula roots were extremely effective, they were also extremely bitter. Yu Lin’s scrunched her face up but she kept drinking. Not long after, Chief Chu came like he promised he would.
“Good morning Mr. Du and Mrs. Du. I brought some fruits as a gift. Is Yu Lin ready?” Chief Chu handed the basket over to Chou and gave them a bright smile. Yu Lin finished drinking and set the cup on the table. Yo Mei nodded her head and softly pushed Yu Lin towards Chief Chu.
“Please take care of our daughter.” Yo Mei said as she bowed.
“Don’t worry. I won’t let her get hurt.” Chief Chu then picked up Yu Lin with one hand and headed towards his home. They were travelling at an extremely fast pace. Yu Lin felt that Chief Chu was running but when she looked down she could see that he was merely leaping through the village. ‘Ten Forms of the Thousand Iron Legs.’ Yu Lin looked at Chief Chu in admiration. She knew that Chief Chu was strong, but she didn’t expect that he would practice the Ten Forms of the Thousand Iron Legs, which was a very difficult martial arts to practice.
In no time they reached Chief Chu’s home which was on the other side of the village. Chief Chu set Yu Lin down. Yu Lin was amazed at how different the Chief Chu’s home look to hers. Compared to her run down home Chief Chu’s home was more like a mansion. Chief Chu lived in a siheyuan, and he inhabited the largest home in Glorious Forest. Although Yu Lin was amazed, that was only because she didn’t set her expectations very high. She had seen much more beautiful architecture in her previous life.

“Grandpa, your home looks very nice.” She said as they both headed towards the main gate, which was guarded by two males.
“Do you like it?” Chief Chu asked. He was surprised that Yu Lin was not more excited or amazed because he knew that Yo Mei did not take Yu Lin out much.
“I do not dislike it.” Yu Lin replied with a nonchalant tone. Chief Chu raised his eyebrows. ‘What an interesting child.’ He thought. They reached the front gate and the two guards bowed to Chief Chu.
“Welcome back Chief Chu!” They both said in unison.
“Thank you for your hard work Lu Wu Ya and Po Leng Jing. Please continue to look after my family.” Chief Chu patted them on the shoulder.
“Yes, Chief Chu!” The two respected Chief Chu very much. Chief Chu smiled looking at the youngsters. Although they were both young they were already silver ranked. Leng Jing had big light brown eyes and short jet black hair. Wu Ya had slanted beady dark brown eyes, and long brown hair tied back in a pony tail. Nonetheless the two were both very handsome men in their late teens. Chief Chu patted Yu Lin on the back.
“Greet them.” He said. Yu Lin step forward and gave each of them a bow.
“Greetings to Sir Lu and Sir Po. My name is Du Yu Lin. Please look after me in the future.” Yu Lin respectfully said. The guards raised their eyebrows as they both knew who this little girl was. The only family with the last name Du was Chou and Yo Mei. They heard the news that they had a successful birth. Po Leng Jing knew right away because his grandma rushed into their home the next day cheering and telling the family about it.
“Greetings to you, Yu Lin.” Leng Jing replied while smiling.
“Greetings to you too, Yu Lin.” Wu Yu also replied with a forced smile. If Chief Chu was not there then Wu Yu would have probably never talked to Yu Lin. His father Lu Tou Ling did not like other races which made Wu Yu also dislike other races.
Chief Chu and Yu Lin stepped inside. The front yard had a wide opening space, and to the sides were dozens of flowers. Chief Chu guided Yu Lin towards the living room.
“Make yourself comfortable Yu Lin. I will be right back.”
“Yes grandpa.” Yu Lin walked inside the room. Chief Chu nodded before leaving. Yu Lin waited a while to confirm that he was gone before she dropped down and sat cross legged. She was in the same position as last night with her hand in a form of an O, placed over her stomach.

When they stepped inside the house Yu Lin could feel the effects of the Kula root kicking in. Usually those who take Kula root would feel fine but Yu Lin did not. She was in pain, and she could feel her chi energy swirling rapidly in a circle in her chi center, building up and creating more chi. She quickly started to chant the Shan Clan’s Energy Balance. She could feel her chi center expanding while more chi was being created. Sweat was running down her face and she clenched her teeth. ‘If this continue, my chi center will shatter and break.’ Her chi center grew to twice its size before stopping, but her chi energy kept growing and growing. ‘What do I do? What do I do?!’ She screamed in her head. The chi center was 80% full of chi energy, but the energy continue to grow and grow. ‘Will I die like this? Was the Kula root bad for someone like me?’ Yu Lin was starting to feel hopeless, but then a face flashed across her eyes from her memories.
‘Shan Qi Long,’ she thought. ‘I will see him again in this body before I die.’ Yu Lin knew she only had one choice, although she wasn’t sure if it was going to work. She stood up, bent her knees, and spread out her arms. She then slowly stood up straight bringing her arms to her chest. Concentrating she jumped up stretching her legs and her arms. From both her foot, and her palm, her chi energy rushed out. She landed on her feet and then brought one of her legs to her chest. She then stretched that leg to the ground and jumped again, while spreading her arms.
Yu Lin was practicing the seventh form of Yin and Yang. In her previous life she could not practice beyond the sixth from because her chi center did not have enough energy. The first three forms of Yin and Yang focused mainly on Yin. Yin was the practice of smooth movements, and traveling of chi energy throughout the body. This made the body as flexible as a rubber band. The next three forms focused on Yang, which would be forcing chi energy out of the palms and feet of the body. The seventh form of Yin and Yang focused on combining the two while the eighth focused on using the two at the same time effectively.
Yu Lin wasn’t sure if doing the seventh form of Yin and Yang would work because she had never tried to, however with each blast of chi energy out of her body she felt better. Her chi energy would fill her chi center to 90%, but she would always use 10% keeping it at 80%. Yu Lin couldn’t continue to do this though. Although her body was stronger compared to others her age, due to being half dark elf and half troll, she was still just three years old. She didn’t know how long she had to do it but after two minutes she was too fatigued and she fell to the ground.
Chief Chu saw that Yu Lin was fine and left her. He headed toward the Chu Clan’s treasury which was located in his personal room, 15 minutes away from where Yu Lin was. He was looking for a chi energy stone. A chi energy stone was used to store chi energy. A chi energy stone was rare because it was difficult to forge. The materials to make a chi energy stone was also difficult to obtain. By storing chi energy, one could manipulate the chi energy in the stone as if it was their own. Chief Chu sighed as he looked in the treasury though. There were many treasures collected when his sons went out on adventures. When they came back they would just throw the treasures in the treasury without organizing anything and hurry off on another adventure.
“These idiots. When they come back I am going to force them to organize all of this!” Chief Chu gritted his teeth. He started pushing piles and piles of armour and weapons to the side. He searched for a while until he finally found it.
“Here it is!” He exclaimed as he held up the glass like stone. He smiled and stepped out of the treasury, locking the door behind him. He turned the stone in his hand. “I have kept Yu Lin waiting long enough.” Just as he said that Chief Chu noticed the sudden bursts of chi energy from the living room where he left Yu Lin. “Yu Lin!” He pushed the stone inside his pocket and leapt his way to the living room.
