Chapter 83: The Legendary Beast Of Eruit Part 1

At the beginning of time, the greater mage kings decreed a Great Fey would be born every 10,000th year and so it was hence.- Book of Magi Volume 1

That day was calm, peaceful, the interlude between spring and summer, when fruits were ripe for the picking and the calm waves of the oceans warmly hugged the shores. Beneath the eyes of the mortal kingdoms was a fine dragon with wings the size of castles and talons the size of houses. His bright silver scales echoed in the darkness of that moonless night, it was only his bright yellow eyes that illuminated his path. Before him, was an egg the size of an ordinary human, it was his child, born from his flesh.

"you are the Seventh dragon." The dragon kindly whispered to his unborn child, "you will be born alone in this world, but you have nothing to fear child." The dragon talked about the plants, about the mortals, the monsters and other fey. Though the child could not hear her fathers words, it would be ingrained in her mind when she awoke. "be wary of the mortals for they may fear your power, be wary of monsters for they may covet your flesh, be wary of the fey for they may chain you to their homes so that you may be their eternal guardian." The sixth dragon softly wept for his child who would never have the chance to see him. The dragon slowly became humanoid in form revealing a large wound on his chest where his heart would be. The dragon slowly dug his talons into his wound and grabbed hold of a small crystal-like object which appeared to hold his bleeding heart whole. A soon as he removed this integral piece of his being, his already wounded heart completely ruptured and his veins turned an obsidian black. "my gift to you. So that you never see what I have seen; so that you do not suffer what I have suffered. I do not know if you are a male or female but I'll give these two options, which you may choose among. Terra, if you are female, I notice that your egg is held tightly by the earth as if it were your warm blanket. Adam, if you are Male for, I am certain that you will be as durable as Adamantine, as unshakable as the strongest ore and as powerful as the world itself." The handsome pale-skinned being kneeled as his tears fell upon his child. The man bestowed a soft kiss on the earth covered egg as his flesh turned to magical energy and his body disappeared until only the small crystal remained which was then absorbed by the hungry egg. The moment the crystal entered the egg, a sudden burst of stone and soil shot up several feet into the air, wrapping itself around the egg until it became an enormous capsule the size of a small hill.

Five years then passed and finally on the third day of that spring, the egg cracked, revealing small claws the size of child's palm, the young dragon used her still vaguely shaped snout to push the shell outwards but she soon realized that she was surrounded by a mound of earth. Instinctually she outstretched her left hand onto the earth trapping her and dug her claws into the earth. As if it were water, her hands softly pushed the earth away. To her, the feeling was the most wonderful thing in the world, as if she were touching a soft cloud that warmly caressed her body. Using her other hand, which was in its humanoid form, she softly gathered the dirt in her hands forming small spheres with which she would squish in her hands and play with.

Her eyes glistened as she saw her Dragonoid form and her humanoid form, her body was fighting itself for a decision, would she emerge a dragon? Or a humanoid. She thought for a moment playing with her mud balls with the right hand and softly petting the earth with her right dragon claw. After much deliberation and some time playing with both forms, she had finally her decision. Her small body slowly took shape, her horns protruded from her small skull, forming small circular bumps on her head. Her small nose slowly formed and then her chest and lastly her legs forming a small child no older than six. She had no genitalia, those wouldn't grow until her twentieth birthday, along with her dragon crystal which would go under a metamorphosis at that time, however she was peculiar because of her father's gift and how her adult form would manifest, was still a mystery.

The small child swam up the mound like a fish in water and after a minute, her head sprouted out the ground like a cabbage. She was greeted by three men who happened to be camping nearby. They stared at her with bewildered eyes and she at them; Her mind took a moment to orient itself and then her eyes grew wide and she spat the dirt still in her mouth at them. These small bursts of dirt were like a child who held water in his mouth and spat it out in small bursts, however, it was for more painful and far more accurate. All three men felt their eyes sting with pain as they tried to remove the small dust particles out their eyes with their water canteens.

Once the men had finally calmed themselves, they softly whispered about what had just happened. "what the hell was that!!!" one softly shouted with some irritation. "it was probably an earth fairy, a powerful one at that." another responded still massaging his eyes. Below them, the small dragon listened and giggled to herself. "they think I'm a fairy." she thought with a wide grin. "she looked like a child?" the third said with peculiar concern in his voice. "yes. I've heard that those are the ones we should be most wary of. They are mischievous but because they are so powerful, things can get easily out a hand." The second man responded again with a more serious tone. "then let's get the hell out of here." The first said as he gathered his things. The other two nodded and quickly began to depart. Terra watched them depart and once they were out of sight she slowly lifted herself off the ground but just as she was halfway out, she became stuck. She looked downward, her waist wouldn't budge, she furrowed her brows and dug with her hands but instead of digging herself out, her hands simply fell into the earth like a hand into water. She used her other hand, the same result. She pouted as she thought what to do until, after another minute, she noticed a nearby tree. She turned her child-like hands into dragon claws and clawed herself out of the ground, with the aid of the tree, after some effort.

She sighed and laid on her back as her savior shaded her face from the harsh sun. she laid there for some time until she heard footsteps come from behind her. She immediately stood at attention. “they couldn’t have gotten far.” One man said as he looked at a book in his hands. Terra could understand all nearby languages, but she still couldn’t read but, she didn’t like how the book felt. She slowly began to step away, when a snap of twig revealed her location. The five men suddenly turned to her direction.

"Sense" the man holding the book softly said with cold indifference. This only lasted a moment as a mass of powerful energy overwhelmed his senses. "MY GOD!!!" the other four men readied their weapons; three readied swords and one readied a staff which held a silvery crystal ball on its end. "wait!!" the man who had cast sense screamed with great anxiety and fear that his allies would provoke a dangerous beast. "this Beasts magical capacity is enormous; we don't stand a chance!!!" he screamed as he quickly gathered his book and fled in the direction from which they came. The other four men looked at each other before then deciding to follow the first mage. The five men fled and the dragon girl never saw them again.

For the next two years, she would find herself playing in mounds of dirt, occasionally finding swords, “hmm? White rocks?” she thought as he held a strong shaft shaped white object. She took a bite and then spit out right after, “gross.” She thought as she threw it back into the pile of white rocks. “white rocks don’t taste good.” She then took the sword and bit into it. her lips stretched into a wide grin as she happily ate the sword until only the hilt remained.

"hehe, you're funny." The dragon heard a soft giggle come from behind her but when she turned around, there was nothing there. "I'm over here," the small voice said from behind the dragon, giggling all the while. When terra went to face forward, there was again nothing there. "I'm behind you!!!" the small voice shouted as it poked the back of her neck. Terra furiously turned around and then immediately faced forward again and finally found the culprit; A small creature no bigger than her thumb. The dragon blew air, forcing the small creature away. "agh, you're getting me dirty" the small creature pouted as she was pelted by small dust particles. The small creature patted itself down and rubbed its tongue with its hands trying to remove the dust stuck to its small tongue.

The fairy quickly flew back towards the dragon with a mischievous grin. "my name's daffodil" she proudly said putting a fist on each side of her waist, posing heroically before the dragon. "what's your name." the small fairy flew closer, just an inch away from the dragon's nose. The dragon cautiously stared at the fairy for a moment; she crossed her arms and then with a pout and a sidewise glance, she said, "Terra."
