《Dungeon AI》Chapter 8 - solo infiltrator

When I got back to the infiltrator received a question from the HUD.

Do you wish to select the infiltrator as a wandering boss? Yes. No.

I thought about it. If worst came to worse, I could destroy the infiltrator and get back the wandering boss slot. I will probably be using him a lot in town, and I'll learn more about the infiltrator class. So I selected yes. The infiltrator turned into a wandering boss. A window appeared.

The infiltrator has been selected as a wandering boss. Its level has risen from 0 to 1 you have one skill point available for distribution.

After reading the message, I pulled up the statistics of the infiltrator.

Statistics: Name: unassigned Title: wandering boss. Race: metal golem. Affiliation: contracted to a dungeon AI Mana: none Durability: 4,700/4,700 Class: infiltrator level 1

Abilities: No abilities have been added option: Do you wish to look at the ability list?

I pulled up the ability list to see what I could get.

Level 1 ability: level 1 abilities will cost 1 point to unlock.

(Changeling) level 0/4 description: You gain the ability to change your facial expressions and features. Potential upgrades: once you've upgraded this ability enough you will be able to change your height, and body physique. You can even change your gender at will and have the magical aura of a living creature. This ability can only be leveled five times. (Spymaster) level 0/3 description: at level 1 you have the capability of creating insect drones able of spying and listening or you. Potential upgrades: insect drones can be upgraded to have tracking (Cloaking) level 0/3 description: at level 1 you can go invisible for 30 seconds every three minutes. Potential upgrades: You have 30 seconds of moving invisibility and unlimited non-moving invisibility. Your movement invisibility resets every 2 minutes. More abilities will be available at level 10.

While I was looking at the abilities, I noticed something in the changeling skill. (have the magical aura of a living creature) That makes me worried because that means somebody can actually see whether I'm alive or not. I need to upgrade this skill as fast as possible.

Skill changeling has been upgraded to level 1/4 you can now make facial expressions and changes to your facial structure.

I smiled, I frowned. I opened my mouth and blinked twice that's just weird. I kept making funny faces till I realized I was underneath a cloak. A cloak I had made for Andrew. I pulled the cover off of me and realized I was facing the corner of the room. I turned around to see Andrew was asleep in a bed. Apparently, he shoved me into the corner of the room and put a blanket over me so he could sleep.

The room was small and only had one bed in it. The other two must've had their own room's. I got up and left the room quietly then I close the door behind me. I was inside a hallway, with doorways every three or so meters. I walked to the end of the hall and took the stairs down.

There were 10 or so odd people inside the dining section of the Inn, Most of the customers were sitting at the bar or near the back wall. A small group of four adventurers was sitting around a table in the corner of the room drinking. The Inn had seven roundtables for customers to order food.

I decided to go to the crashed ship and see if I can get some experience points to level. If the infiltrator gets destroyed, I'll just make a new one.

I had one of the completed Scout drones take a molecular kukri and a kite shield and bring it to the edge of town. It was going to take me 10 minutes to reach the town gate, so I started walking.

This planet had a full moon out tonight, so seeing wasn't that hard. But The streets were quite empty. There wide enough for two cars to pass each other if there were no pedestrians.

Two guards were talking to each other as they passed me. They both looked like they hadn't slept in days.

Finally, I reached the gates, but the large they were shut. But a wicket gate was open with a guard standing facing the town. The guard stopped me from going through the gate. He sounded uninterested when he said"if you're leaving the town. I wouldn't suggest it. There are a lot more monsters out during the night. There have been sightings of dungeon wolves wandering around" I asked the guard what are dungeon wolves" the guard yawned and said "dungeon wolves are protectors of monster dungeon cores. They're basically elite monsters. They normally show up when a new monster dungeon is born. We might find one the next couple of days, and This will be great for the town because that will mean will have a monster dungeon, and an iron dungeon next to each other. "

I thanked the guard and walked outside. Another guard was standing on the other side of the door, looking out into the woods. The guard on the outside of the town then said "saw another one of those giant bad things flying around, so be careful while you're gone. Good luck "

When I turned to the guard, I said. "don't worry I'm just picking up something from a friend in the woods"I kept walking as the guard looked confused. I walked about 50 m past the tree line before I found the Scout Drone. I picked up the sword and shield and strapped them to my back. I then turned around and went back to the city. I also told the Scout drone to start patrolling around the base and see if he could find the five wolves that were missing.

With the third Scout drone sent out to patrol the area, where the wolves first came from. They haven't been seen since the end of the fight, and I was starting to get worried. They might've gone off to get reinforcements. The spider drones need to make more defenses for the base. I should probably make a tower with a long-range rail cannon on top. That should assist me in future fights in the woods.

The spider bots and construction drones began working on it. The construction It's going to make it visible that the ships occupied, but it couldn't be helped. Stay hidden with no defenses, or be obvious with a Canon.

I left the forest and started walking back to the gate. The guard saw me and waved me back into the city. I then headed straight for the crashed ship. When I got there, a different man working the desk in several adventurers who were selling crystals to him, they looked like the ones I use to power my drones. When I entered the dungeon, there was a short tunnel that led into a massive room with multiple core doors and stairways going down.

All of the stairways and core doors had signs next to them. Some of the signs said occupied as of Monday. One of the posters said (occupied as of Friday) with a note next to it "dungeon rescue party being sent out Tuesday".all of the signs have a level of difficulty at the top of them. I looked around the room to find the lowest one that was unoccupied.

I found a sign that said.

Level of difficulty:

for level 1 adventurers.

Unoccupied as of Thursday.

There was a piece of chalk next to the board I wiped away the unoccupied and replaced it with (occupied as of Tuesday). I then walked into the corridor.

The hallway was 50 meters long and was set at a downward angle. There was an airlock door at the end of it. When I opened it, I noticed that it was the area for crew housing. The whole area looks like it was almost brand-new, just waiting for new occupants. There were 50 rooms on each side hundred rooms in total. I then saw a spider drone walk by and into another room. I feel like this place would give some people nightmares.

Spider golems are worth 50 experience, so if I kill four of them. I'll be able to level up again. I walked up to the first set of rooms and turned to the one on my right. Three spider drones were attempting to put in a new sink. They look just like minds only they had tiny blue shards of power crystal sticking out of their back. This might be a good time to try and communicate with them. I tried sending out a signal only the find static. There are no communication signals here. However there talking to each other, It's and not through the radio.

After I tried scanning for a signal. All three of the drones immediately stared at me. "I don't think they like radio signals." Suddenly, I heard scuttling from the hallway and turned to face it. There were another dozen spider drones all looking at me that had come out of the other rooms. I then said, "shit, it was that guy "I pointed it one of the spiders.

The three spiders in the room lunged at me. My shields swung in an arc to knock them back, then put my back against the hatch and got ready to fight. To the ones, I'd hit with my shield had broken limbs now. The third one lunged at me again, and I cut it in half. Each of its piece landing on either side of me.

Some of the spiders started crawling up the wall, going towards the ceiling. Another three ran towards me. My foot crushed the two that were injured on the floor. The three that had just arrived pulled out cutting torches and turn them on. Before that, the four that reach the ceiling jumped off and were aiming straight for my head. Lunging forward I used my shield to land on top of the three with cutting torches, smashing them against the floor.

Quickly rolling forward, I got up and turned around. There were three on the right wall and two on the left wall. At the same time, I swung my sword upwards, killing the three on the right. Then leaped across the hallway and smashed the two against the left wall. The four that had landed against the hatch was now crawling down after me.

Two of the drones leaped at me, while the other two stayed on the ground. I used my shield to knock them back in swung low with my sword to kill the two on the ground. The two that bounced off the door was busy trying to stand back up when I smashed them with my shield.

When I was able to look around the hallway, There were no other drones coming after me. There were a few off in the distance still making repairs on the ship. I guess they hadn't noticed me.

The top right-hand corner of my screen was blinking, indicating that I earned some experience. I opened my statistics to see how much I'd earned and what upgrades I could get.

Changeling: level 1/4 option: Do you wish to look at the ability list?

End of statistics.

This time one point went into (Cloaking). Since I'm probably going to do a lot of fighting the cloaking ability will either help me escape or let me sneak up on enemies. When I got out of the menu, three shock golems walked around the corner at the end of the hallway.

The shock golems looked like mechanical skeletons without heads. They had box-shaped chess with arms and legs meant for speed and nothing else. Each one carried a shock baton and riot shield. The frame was painted a dark blue color.

They had seen me and were sprinting down the hallway after me. Quickly I ducked into the right side room. Then I turned on my cloaking and walked into the room across the hallway and waited for the shop drones. The shock drones walked up to the room I had just left and looked inside. Then I walked up behind them and swung my sword while cloaked, cutting all three of them in half, they sparked on the ground for a few seconds before going out.

Okay, cloaking is one of the more broken abilities I have. Quickly running room to room killing the spider bots inside before my 30 seconds of cloaking ran out. Managing to kill another eight more spider drones then I walked into the hallway and waited, by the airlock hatch.

It would take another two minutes for my cloaking ability to reset. Later another three shock golems showed up. I still had 30 seconds before my cloaking would reset, but they'd reach me before then. I thought to myself "I wonder if shock drones show up whenever I kill too many spider bots."

The shock drones ran up and then put their riot shields together to push me into a corner. My sword easily cut through the shields and their torsos in one swing. I then set out loud "Okay I honestly expected that to be harder." their shields were made out of a thick bulletproof plastic, and the handle of my sword was coded in an insulating rubber so they couldn't even shock me.

My kukri also had a molecular edge, though cutting through them slowed it down a little. I'm guessing that for other regular adventurers with normal weapons, they would have way more trouble with this.

My cloaking ability finished recharging. Walking up to one of the doors, I got ready to kill more spider bots. After I got done killing more spider bots, three more shock drones appeared, and I killed them. Repeating this for an hour and a half until my kukri started to break down. Finally, I destroyed all the spider drones in this section of the ship. There was a lower floor, but I decided that I'd be done for the night. There should have enough experience to level up multiple times.

After I went through the airlock door and latched it behind me, I pulled up my statistics.

Changeling: level 1/4 Cloaking: level 1/3 option: Do you wish to look at the ability list?

End of statistics.

Finally, I maxed out changeling and pulled up the new description.

Changeling description: allows you to change your appearance (1/4) You can now show expressions on your face. And can change your bone structure (2/4) You can now change your skin tone eye color, hair color, height and body type. You can also change your gender at will. (3/4) You have an aura of life around you. Your skin can now bleed, but if you're cut too deep, It will reveal the metal frame. (4/4) You will regenerate 2% of your max durability every hour. This will also heal your skin.

There were 3 available skill points still. Let's see what's available at level 10 before I use any more points. But for right now it's getting toward sunrise. So I better catch up with Carol Andrew and Steve before they wake up.

As I left the hallway. I wrote on the board (unoccupied as of Tuesday). Leaving the dungeon, I headed over to the Inn.
