《Goddess of Computation》 chapter 29.h

The response from Leanne's stall was a long groan which lasted nearly half a minute. "Extreme pain. Ate too much too fast."

"Are you alright?" Ada asked with concern.

"Yes, I should be fine."

"Let me double check. Unpause system."

...

...

"Pause system. Well, I'm sure you'll recover from your stomachache. You know that's what happens when you stuff your face." Silently, she wondered if Leanne was one of those lucky people who could eat whatever they wanted and still be thin. As a goddess now, Ada was glad that she would never have to worry about her weight.

"I know. Ugh, give me a few minutes."

"Pathei mathos."

"Huh?"

"In suffering, we learn. In other words, personal experience is the genesis of true learning," Ada elaborated. "It's Latin which is another type of divine tongue."

The poor girl's gastrointestinal system responded for her. instead of Leanne's usual curious inquiry, she only uttered another groan. Ada decided that now was probably not the best time to explain what she has uncovered in the System. In fact, now was probably a good time for her to let Leanne have some wonderful reflective alone time.

"I'll explain the full details later but you should know that Master Obar is not who he says he is. I'm not sure if he's even human."

"He is a god?"

"He is not a god but he's definitely not entirely a human."

There was no response. Ada figured the silence was due to either Leanne trying to digest her words or trying to digest the food. In either case, she would have time to talk with Leanne later. Master Obar was not an immediate threat and she doubted that he would suspect that his identity would be so easily revealed.

"Is he dangerous? Are we still going to show him your home?" Leanne asked in quick succession.

"I believe we still should. He is not a threat and he may be an ally," Ada replied. "Also, the palace is your home too now, Leanne. Don't forget that!"

"That is good to hear. I believe we should still take some precautions."

"We can talk about this later but let me try something first. Unpause system."

...

"I really wish there was an easier way to pass information to you besides just verbal speech. Shouldn't I as a Goddess of Computation have some kind of sophisticated messaging protocol to communicate with my disciples? Even pinging would be awesome."

...

Ada waited for the systemhelper to pipe up and it did not disappoint her in a response.

...

"Pause systemhelper. Well, it was worth a shot. No isekai cheat here where I can just say random things and the system just gives it to me. Maybe I just got lucky the first time with the Divine Eye. Let's try this," Ada spoke as she pulled out a gold coin from her brown tunic and looked at it.

The gold coin suddenly disappeared and a small golden book appeared in its place with the title in elegant cursive displaying readmev2.0. It looked much too elegant and fancy for its actual contents. There are some things that money can't buy. For everything else, there's Ada's book. Ada grinned as she thought of the lame Mastercard commercials.

...

"Here, Leanne, I'm giving a book to you," Ada slid the small dossier under Leanne's stall. "Read it before you leave this wonderful restroom."

"A book in the divine tongue?! Are you sure?"

"It's just a book."

"Goddess Ada, as your servant, I am eternally humbled and honored by Your gift."

"Don't get too excited. It's pretty dry," Ada said.

Privately, she thought it was hilarious that these grandiose words were coming from someone sitting on a toilet. Does a divine book have any means of protecting itself from damage and does it stay clean? Leanne should wash her hands before touching it if doesn't have any automatic cleanliness capability. Dry or not, Ada was taught from an early age that all sources of knowledge including books should be respected. Leanne interrupted Ada's meandering thoughts, "What are we planning to do with the Gunders? They still have no idea of anything."

"Yeah, add that to the list of growing things I, or rather we, need to do," Ada sighed. "One step at a time though. Speaking of which, for now, my next step is leaving this bathroom."

There was no laughter from the stall. Leanne clearly needed to develop a better sense of humor. This was another task for her -- for at least one person in this world to understand her amazingly corny jokes. She has full confidence that with time, her sense of humor would fully implant itself in Leanne's consciousness. With a shake of her head to clear her wandering mind, Ada opened the bathroom door and stepped into the corridor.

Her second step led her to almost collide with a man. "Ah, my apologies, my lady. I was merely checking if you were able to find your way."

"Ah, it's my fault for not looking," Ada apologized. Being a goddess has not removed her inherent nature as a klutz.

"Is your friend still in there, my lady?"

"Leanne? Yeah, she's taking her time but she'll be out in a bit."

She straightened up and looked up at the young man who was a full foot taller than her. He appeared to be in his early twenties and was dressed with an apron tied around his waist wearing a crisp white shirt with a few brown stains near the collar. On Earth, he could be seen as a college student waiting tables at a fancy restaurant -- a job that Ada had tried once and never wanted to experience again. His face looked rather plain with small eyes, a flat nose and a thin mouth. The only distinguishing feature was his messy long hair that would probably fit well in the 70s. As if reading her thoughts, he scratched his head. Ada realized that he was feeling nervous at her intense stare. "Uh, is there something on my face?"

"No, sorry, I was just thinking that you look exactly like our server," Ada said.

"I am your server, my lady," the man replied.

"Yeah, I was kidding. Another joke falling flat. Never mind, was there something else?"

"Indeed, I also came here to inform you that Master Obar had to depart for an urgent business. He told me that you can stay as long as you want and he will pay for everything. I will continue to take care of you and your other guests."

"What?!" Ada inwardly exclaimed. To the man, she simply said, "That's all fine. If it's on the master's dime, I suppose we can still use some of that wine he mentioned."

"Sure, no problem. I will give you a drink menu once you're seated." the man nodded and gestured for her to follow.

Ada followed him back to her table. She noticed that there were far less people still around. Lunchtime was over and she suspected these people still had a life outside of the Galacia Club. To avoid further uncomfortable silence, she awkwardly asked, "So ... how long have you been working here?"

"Five and a half years, my lady."

"Just Flora is fine. What's your name by the way?"

"I go by Lewie. My real name is very hard to pronounce."

"Try me."

"Lçosõaiysiraaw."

"Uh yeah, you're right. I guess all of you have adopted a name in the Divine Tongue?"

"That is correct, my lady Flora. The Divine Tongue is our lingua franca across all the chapters of the Galacia Club so it's important that we all have a pronounceable name."

"How long did it take for you to learn the language?"

"About ten years. I started when I was nine under the tutelage of Master Obar."

"Master Obar is your teacher?"

"He was but now I study on my own. His work keeps him very busy these days."

Before Ada could ask what his work was, she saw that they have reached the balcony. The young man pushed open the balcony door slowly and stood by the side. Ada walked through first and saw that the Gunders were still at their table hacking away at the food. The stew was very hot and they had to wait for it to cool down a bit before serving smaller portions to the children. They appeared to be enjoying the food and were busy chattering amongst themselves. Ada felt happy seeing that she had a role in their present happiness.

Ada sat down and the Gunders greeted her with a few words to which she just nodded and smiled. They then turned their attention back to themselves. Lewie handed her a menu. "These are the present options we currently have. Unfortunately, we are a little limited due to a shipping delay."

"Shipping delay?"

"Yes, most likely pirates. Edayth must be extremely happy this year."

"The God of Thieves?"

"Yes, due to a variety of factors, unfortunately, more people have turned to piracy as a means of survival." Lewie shook his head sadly. Then, he brightened up, "Don't worry, lady Flora. We still have a vast array of delicious wines for all of you to choose from."

"I'll take a look but I'll wait for Leanne before we order. By any chance do you know where Master Obar went?"

"I apologize but he rarely tells me anything about his work. I only know that this time, it has something to do with the local city council," the man said apologetically.

"That's alright. Do you know when he'll be back?"

"Lady Flora, I apologize once again but I don't know. His schedule is unpredictable."

Ada sighed. This leaves them more time to explore on their own in the city. She still needed to buy books, maps, food and other supplies.

"Master Obar feels deeply regretful for his sudden departure and the cancellation of his appointment tonight with you. He has paid for a room for you and your guests to stay here for the night. All meals are included of course. He hopes that this can recompense for the time being."

"Hmm, we were planning to leave before the city gates close this evening."

"Camping outside the city walls is dangerous and uncomfortable, my lady Flora," Lewie looked shocked. He probably wondered if they were insane. Even if Master Obar didn't pay, she and Leanne looked wealthy enough to afford an inn in the town.

"Well, to be honest, camping was never something I really enjoyed. It's more like glamping. Safety and comfort both guaranteed," Ada tried to explain.

Lewie looked confused for a second and Ada didn't blame him. Reverting back to the role of unobtrusive waiter, he calmly nodded. "I will leave the decision in your hands. Regardless, the room has already been booked. You can ask any of the inn staff downstairs to show you the room at any time if you choose to stay."

With these words, he turned and departed. Ada turned to the menu. It had no illustrations but its words were all in English. "Let's see what we have here. Fish blood wine? Okay, that's one thing that should never be on any menu. "
