《Goddess of Computation》 chapter9.h

Ada took a careful look at Leanne Syrana. The former temple adept was about five feet tall with long dark brown wavy hair that reached almost to her slim waist. She was pretty with a face that was well-proportioned. Her large brown eyes and small mouth combined gave her a look of perpetual curiosity. Ada thought that she might measure Leanne's face in greater detail later to see how closely it matched the golden ratio.
Overall, Ada's follower was quite pretty and Ada felt a tinge of envy. Ada had never been fat and she was thankful to God that when she transformed into a goddess, she had undergone the quickest weight loss plan ever. Yet, though shorter in height, this girl was both prettier and slimmer than her. Ada comforted herself knowing that she could probably handle a kick to the stomach better than Leanne could.
...
...
...
...
Ada frowned and decided to just guess. If this world was similar to a LitRPG, then hit points would most likely be one of the attributes. She thought:
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
"Goddess Ada, I apologize for my intrusion in your meditation but I believe I can use your help," the girl's voice interrupted Ada's thoughts.
Ada blinked her eyes a few times and realized that she had stood there zoned out for the last minute. She wasn't going to correct Leanne's mistaken perception that Ada was meditating. She paused systemhelper and looked at Leanne. The girl was looking at her in quiet anticipation. First things first, Ada didn't want to hear Leanne addressing her as Goddess Ada over and over at the start of every sentence. It was as almost as bad as Holy Divine One from earlier. "Please stop the honorifics of Goddess Ada from now on. Just call me Ada or ideally nothing at all if it's just the two of us."
"Goddess Ada, I do not feel that a lack of honorifics is proper for a priestess in front of her goddess."
"Are you saying you're not wanting to follow a direct command from your goddess to not call her a goddess every time you utter a sentence?"
The girl gulped and furiously shook her head. Maybe that was a little too harsh, Ada thought. After making a mental note to be less harsh next time, Ada turned to look at what was happening on the ship. What drew Leanne's concern was wholly justified. Ada saw that aside from a few who were sprawled on the deck still unconscious, the others have all congregated around their lord. They looked at Leanne with expressions encompassing a mixture of hatred and fear. The archers cocked their bows towards the two despite shaking hands while the ones with melee weapons shifted their swords and spears nervously. Lord Pyron, or rather Pip, said a few things to them rather loudly. The men shouted words that seemed to be in agreement and some of them pointed their fingers or shook their fists at Leanne. The priestess's face turned pale.

"What are they saying?"
"They are saying that I am an abomination that need to be cut down immediately. That you're a false goddess and that you're really just an evil sorceress who learned the divine tongue. That I was a vile creature from birth and just pretended to be someone chosen by the true gods."
"So in other words it's like the scenario if you were a priest during the Middle Ages and people just saw you publicly declaring that you're now going to worship Satan," Ada nodded with understanding.
"I do not know who this Satan is but I can tell you that even if these men fear you, they may have no problem with ending my life. And maybe I deserve it. I have abandoned everything that I have believed in."
"They're total assholes if they're so willing to kill someone who just chose to sacrifice so much to save their lives. Still, I think you will find that your sacrifice is worth it. Whomever your previous deity was, I'll do better. As my father says, once you make a choice, don't regret it. Life is better lived without regrets."
"Your father?" Leanne seemed surprised to hear that Ada had a father.
Well, I didn't come from the void though I'm definitely not going to reveal my origin story for now, Ada thought.
"That's just a saying in the divine tongue," Ada explained and then continued. "I have an idea but you need to trust me. Give me one moment to meditate. It looks like they're still debating whether they want to risk their lives attacking you. "
"Unpause systemhelper. Write code."
...
...
...
In Ada's mental view, a giant screen with a text editor appeared. With even less time than before at her disposal, Ada decided to code a simple script. The fourteen people in metal armor with drawn weapons and their lord were all clumped up on the opposite side of the ship from Leanne. She estimated that they covered an area approximately 10 meters long and 3 meters wide. She could make a giant plate of osmium or some other dense metal and drop it on top of them but she wasn't sure if the ship's wooden floor would be able to take that sudden weight. She could make a cloud under their feet and hope that they could float but with their metal armor, she wasn't sure that a cloud of that size would be able to lift them. If it was larger, the cloud platform would reach Leanne as well.
Ada decided to create a giant lodestone right in front of them. She had uncovered that lodestones were in the standard library when she was previously experimenting with building things in her palace. Lodestones are naturally magnetized pieces of the mineral magnetite. In other words, they're strong natural magnets. Though on Earth, lodestones were rare and formed from magnetite with specific crystalline structures that were struck by lightning, Ada's power let her have no restrictions on the size of lodestone that she could create.

The specific gravity of a lodestone was 5.2 whereas the specific gravity of iron was about 7.5. By comparison, osmium has a much higher density at a specific gravity of 22.5. If she designed the size and shape to be not too hefty, the ship's structural integrity should remain intact. Though she could make one single large block, to have greater versatility in placement as well as to prevent the risk of a sudden torque generated by a shift in the center of gravity, she decided that this script would create one cylindrical column with a height of 2 meters and a radius of 3 meters.
Ada planned to distribute three of them in a semicircle around the men and just in case of the ship tilting, she would create three more in front of Leanne in a symmetrical geometric position. Leanne wasn't wearing any metal armor so she should be fine.
...
...
...
...
The men seemed to have given each other enough pep talk that they were now ready to engage with an unarmed girl. The swordsmen and spearmen started inching towards Leanne with drawn weapons. The archers raised their bows and were ready to shoot in the unlikely scenario that their comrades failed. This was perfect timing to implement the script.
Without another pause, Ada thought:
...
...
"Pause systemhelper. This was quite tedious. I should just write a loop next time," Ada said.
She looked at the scene before her and everything panned out even better than she would have liked. All the men with armor including the more lightly armored archers were stuck to the lodestones in various body poses with the metal weapons likewise stuck close to them. Several of them were hanging upside down with their helmets half off. Some of the swords and spears had flew and struck several of the unlucky ones through their armor. One archer looked like he was in serious condition with a sword that impaled him in his chest. Much to Ada's liking, the lord had a spear struck through his arm and though he wasn't urinating again, he was crying tears while simultaneously screaming in agony. The uninjured men were also shouting but those were due to a potent mixture of confusion and fear.
Leanne looked at the entire sight in shock and some sense of relief.
"Leanne, come on! We don't have time to dawdle here."
"Goddess Ada, what spell did you use?"
"No spell. I just used attract men."
"Goddess Ada, forgive me but I do not understand. Is this how your divine one attract men?"
"For these kinds of men, yes. I can answer more questions later. I don't presume you know how to navigate your ship?"
Leanne shook her head.
"Thought so. In that case, give me one moment. I doubt these men will be able to extricate themselves soon but if you see any that do, please yell immediately."
"Unpause systemhelper. Create cloud."
...
...
...
Ada quickly did some mental math and estimated that the distance from her cloud to the ship was about 50 meters. She could transmute part of her Cloud Ada object into a smaller divine cloud object which would span the distance from her Cloud Ada to the ship. With a bit of trigonometry, she estimated the angle of descent needed to be about 10 degrees. It wasn't a perfect estimate but it would do. She assumed that the attribute names to define the dimensions were the same as the other objects she has created so far and that the object would be placed exactly where she wanted it to be placed.
...
...
There were a few typical confirmation messages from the systemhelper and then the glorious bridge was created. She exited systemhelper and gestured at Leanne to get on the bridge. The men were still struggling but a few seemed to have oriented themselves to a position where they're trying to undress the armor from their body.
"Come on! Leave them behind. Whatever bonds of loyalties you have that ties you to this place, you don't have a choice but to discard them all. Besides, you will be of great aid to me."
"Ada, when I swore to join you, I knew that meant discarding all former ties. But on your latter point, I am confused on what a Divine One could need from a mere mortal."
Ada smiled. "You'll be surprised at how much you know that I don't. Once you're in my palace, I'll explain."
Ada thought that Leanne would take forever. She was wrong for the priestess was actually quite fast for someone with short legs. By the time that Leanne reached Cloud Ada and the cloud bridge deconstructed, scarcely a minute had passed. Not waiting for any of the men to disentangle themselves, Ada converted some of the osmium to the cloud and the platform raised up in the sky.
"Welcome to my humble abode, Leanne," Ada smiled.

Summoned
“Per aspera ad astra." Death. Mercilessly, it comes for all. But when a young man is given a second chance – a second life – to experience what he never has, what will he do? Leave the burdens of his past behind, improving upon his faults? Or will he collapse back into old sins, wasting the opportunity given to him? Perhaps even he himself does not know. * Join Andre on his journey as he explores a new world – one ripped straight from the pages of a D&D campaign he's never played. He will face monsters. He will face men. And above all, he will face himself. The story’s genre is your standard progression fantasy, isekai: magic, a system, and a level of technology suspiciously underdeveloped. I’ve borrowed tropes from various books I’ve read like “The Second Coming of Gluttony”. The similarities are there (particularly in the beginning), but I assure you the story is my own. It’s in the first-person perspective and has its own quirks, characters, and world for you to become immersed in. The upload schedule for this will be different from the usual fictions on this site: I’ll release chapters in batches rather than so many a week. I’m a college student, so I don’t want another deadline to worry about. Depending on the popularity/demand of the series, I might increase or decrease the rate of releases. Other than that, I hope you enjoy the story! P.S. This is my first fiction so make sure to point out mistakes wherever you see them. I’m doing this, partly, to increase my skill as a writer. However, be kind! I’m fragile, you know? Warning: ***This is far from your happy-go-lucky, feel-good adventure story. There will be content that some of you might not be comfortable with. And if you're already feeling skeptical reading this, click away and don't come back. If you're still here, what are you waiting for?***
