003 - Giants by the Sea
The recent rains made mud of the main road and marshes of the grass around Kloster. Magnus steered the cart in silence, Willis looked to him as if to say something, but just sighed. The town walls were three metres thick and some ten metres tall, but they'd been made by human hands, before the alchemists and giants came to Kloster. A giant stooped through the high arch, making his way into town ahead of the cart, another two giants stood guard next to the gate, if they stretched out their arms they could touch the top of the wall. Soon! Magnus thought, soon I'll be as big as that, as strong as them!
"Well lad," Willis got down off the cart and untied his pack mule. "I'll be off to see Pa and your dad." Willis hesitated, then said; "Sorry Magnus, I didn't mean to blow up on you like that, it's just, well lad, I'm thinking of what would be best for you! Think it over, talk to your parents. Don't just be rushing into a big thing like this."
"Yes Uncle Willis."
"Just thinking about it, that's all. I'm sorry for bringing up your brother and sister, I didn't mean it like that, they both died bravely, fighting against those monsters."
"I know Uncle Willis."
"Don't be like that lad. Come, give your uncle a hug." Willis received Magnus and gave him a fierce hug saying, "Take care of yourself Magnus. I'll be up at the house for a couple of weeks, don't be avoiding me now."
Willis went into the town up the cobbled main street leaving Magnus to drive the cart along the inner walls to a stable. He parked up in a small stockyard, brushed down the horse, tied the cart to a post, and went off humming through a back alley towards the town center,

Kloster was a large seaside town, its walls built hundreds of years ago to fend of coastal raids and bandits coming down from the mountains. The road run through Kloster, south to the Iron Coast, and north along the Shimmer Sea all the way through the land of Jute. Magnus had been as far north as Plenge to the south, a town a little smaller than Kloster about four days travel down the road. The nearest town to the north was a little further than that, but here and there you could always find a decent roadside tavern or welcome village.
Up on a rise above the town was the Lord's fort, Pa Lund said he remembered a time that only seabirds and rats lived there. Now, Pa said, the birds had left and only rats stayed. Before Magnus was born Kloster had got a new lord; Baron Tygis. Then came the alchemist and the giants and the war with the black skins. Funny that, Pa Lund had said, bad things always come in threes. He said that an Alchemist was a meddler, that the giants were a plague, and that in his day he could have taken the whole black skin swarm with a hand and foot tied behind his back.
Up ahead rolling a barrel out from a courtyard Magnus saw a tall blonde man and broke out into a run. "Rolf!" He called, "Rolf, terrible news!"
"Magnus!" Rolf set the barrel on a side and looked up puzzled. "News? What?"
"Terrible, just terrible. You won't believe it." Magnus stopped, panting deeply and putting on a shocked face. "It's awful, just the worst."
"What is? What the devil are you on about Magnus?" Rolf grabbed Magnus' arm and shook it.
"I had a word with Festus about the giant treatment, about you and me, and . . . and . ."

"And what? What did he say? Spit it out!" Rolf said frantically.
"He said . . he told me . ." Magnus took in a deep breath, drawing it out as long as he could. "He said we could both take part!"
Rolf stared at him and Magnus grinned, laughing heartily. "You're not kidding?" Rolf said.
"Rolf, my friend, would I ever lie to you," Magnus saw Rolf's frown. "About something like this, at least. You know what this means, right Rolfy?"
"What does this mean?" Rolf replied, exasperated.
"This means we're gonna be giants!" Magnus sang out, Rolf couldn't help but laugh along with him.
"Giants! You and me, ha!" Rolf danced about in joy. "You know what this means!" He called out.
"What does it mean Rolfy my son?" Magnus danced with him.
"It means that you and I are going straight to the Seamaiden," Rolf said.
"Oh aye? Whatever for?"
"To get stinking drunk of course!" Rolf roared, pointing down the street. "Lead on, Magnus!"
"Aye aye!"

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.

The Mob in His Novel
Through his hard work, Arthur Bennett has achieved what he thought was the pinnacle of life: wealth, prestige, and power. However, achieving those came with a price; he lost everything and everyone he loved. One day, out of boredom, he mindlessly wrote a fantasy novel filled with numerous clichés and superfluous conflicts. However, he never imagined he would be reincarnated into that world after his death. No, not as the protagonist, not even as an important supporting character, but instead, he became a mob in his novel. Will Arthur use his abilities and knowledge as the author to make the right decisions and make it through the end, despite the fact that there was a greater, more powerful threat that he was unaware of even as the author? ==========-I will also be posting it on Webnovel, Scribblehub, and Tapas (TBA) under the same name

Blind As a Bat [1st book complete]
Book 1 He was cast to the edges of his clan. His father could not stand to even look at him. His baby sister probably didn't even know he was her brother... All because he, unlike all other vampire (The correct terminology will be Wanpyrkos; van-peer-coe-s) kind, was born blind. And what do all creatures do to those that are different, those that do not fit society, those that they think should not have been born to this civilized society...? [Book Cover Made by the wonderful THEMIDNIGHTECLIPSE13] - thank you! I'm only introducing the perspective of the main character for the first part. Things change drastically soon after that. [BDSM entries are clearly marked and written so they can be skipped without affecting the story] ***A couple scenes to whet your palate*** 1. "Uh, we heal from pretty much everything and anything. Have you ever tried physically damaging your eyes to see if they would fully heal?" "N-no. No, it doesn't work," I forced out, my voice a little strangled and cracking before hardening. "And stuff like that, isn't that just wrong?! Hurting someone just to 'fix' them." 2. I leaned and he met me, our soft lips touching and moving perfectly on each other's. I felt as his tongue ran the slit of my lips, my tongue coming to graze it as it passed over, knowing doing so was like catnip to him. He leaned closer, and I shivered as his hands ran from low on my hips and grazed along and up my ribs, pulling my chest closer to his so my body arched and rubbed against him. I hummed in appreciation. [warning: so far aggressive or physical bullying and maybe a little kidnappage and sexual themes as well as possible trigger warnings]
