Chapter 19 The Beginning - Strength (Part 3)
Feeling revitalized Daichi opened his eyes and thought about the previous day. So many gains. It also felt like everyone was getting more accustomed to killing monsters. Now that Hannah had almost instantly become the strongest in the group. At the very least with her overpowered ability, their entire hunting strategy has changed.
“I’m also interested in how she created her ability. She didn’t gain it, but created it and then it was acknowledged…”
“That might mean that I can create my own ability, or that abilities and skills may possibly be created through manipulating mana in different ways, the question is just whether that’s only possible through your own attribute. I think it’s probably not that hard when it comes to death, regardless of how creative you get in the end death is death. What the hell do I do with Chaos though? I’ve never even heard of anyone or anything anywhere that I’ve read about Chaos being an attribute.
Now I just have to decide whether I should share this with the others and have them try and come up with abilities of their own this way and take time off from hunting or whether to keep at it as we are now… It’s more dangerous if we continue without a long range fighter to help cover us, but at this point everyone is moderately strong as it is. Hmm… I’ll wait until I’m stronger. I still don’t trust them enough to allow them to get stronger than me so quickly.” Daichi contemplated the possibilities available to him and how to make his next move.
After everyone woke up, they discussed their plan to continue like they did yesterday. Instead of having a formal discussion it was quickly agreed. Everyone seemed to understand some of the benefits from leveling up. Ava on the other hand decided to skip hunting today with them and instead focus on trying to come up with a more effective way for her to battle, even as she’d spoken the words Daichi thought “Probably because she must be running low on heal potions…”
With just three of them going today they would then focus on hunting smaller units.
They circled around town and found a surprising number of Orc groups and Goblin groups without too much effort. Finding it surprising Daichi decided to tell the others to cut the hunting plan for now and to just observe. It was strange to see so many different monsters. Especially the Orcs. Up until now they had only run into one group and a solo orc.
Not taking long they noticed two groups of Orcs and Goblins are engaged in battle.
Using his Analyze skill Daichi got a handle for their power and realized that all of the Orcs were on average much stronger than the Goblins.

6 Orcs all around level 14-18 vs 20 Goblins all around level 7-10.
“It must be a territory dispute which works perfectly for us. The Goblins almost always lose so we allow them to be cannon fodder for the Orcs and after the Orcs have won we rush in and attack the Orcs who’ve been weakened.” Daichi whispered to the others as his eyes glowed with excitement.
Although hunting such a large number of monsters would have been very risky in any other situation, this had become an opportunity now that these two groups of monsters had begun to engage in battle with one another.
As soon as the goblins were wiped out by the orcs the three of them sprung into action at Daichi’s signal. Each one of them performing a sneak attack on one of the hurt orcs and each of them getting a one hit kill. The orcs were celebrating their victory and were not expecting to be blindsided by another enemy so quickly after their battle!
Daichi decapitated an Orc, Kaden pierced his through the back of the head and Hannah just got close enough to get a touch in. Even the last three were no problem as each of them handled their own with only some minimal difficulty compared to the first two days. Daichi fought his head on and after evading his hits he waited for the perfect moment to strike and decapitate him as well. Kaden used a similar strategy and instead lacerated the neck of his Orc before piercing him through the eyeball and well into it’s brain. Hannah just let it get near her while trying to maintain her composure and touched it’s arm when it lowered it’s guard due to her vulnerability.
It had been the easiest battle they’d gone through up until now. Except while basking in the glow of their victory they failed to notice how crucial it was that not only had they taken advantage of an opportunity, but that they did so with no hesitation and together.
If they had attacked this group of orcs individually, they would have been surrounded and killed. If any of them had hesitated in attacking when the orcs had been vulnerable, they would have lost their opportunity to kill an orc and only face one instead of two or more each. They had gotten lucky, but they had performed without hesitation, by pushing their fears and concerns to the side. All three of them had managed to reap the benefits of seasoned warriors. Being pushed into their current state of life or death peril, they were maturing at an astonishing pace.
Instead of resting, they headed off to find more prey. They found a group of goblins within minutes but decided not to bother with them considering that it seemed to them, like killing monsters weaker than them wasn’t very efficient in gaining strength. They ran a greater risk of getting harmed when there are so many of them as well.

They heard high pitched squeals and noticed the goblin group running in a certain direction. Finding it a little odd they tried to follow them discretely only to be led to another Orc and Goblin battle!
This time around the orcs were being overwhelmed by the sheer number of goblins! There was another group of 6 orcs but over 30 goblins! Multiple goblins on top of each of the orcs backs while the orcs were busy trying to swat them away, but for every goblin they hit more climbed on top of them.
Finding the opportunity wonderful, Daichi couldn’t resist but give a nod to the others and heading in behind some of the goblins that had been smacked away a good distance from the main fight. These were the goblins that at every opportunity, they picked off individually. After the goblins were hurt and knocked down, they struck at them and killed them while returning to cover trying to remain unnoticed for as long as possible. They managed to kill around 9 goblins before they were even noticed.
Some of the goblins tried to attack them but were already ineffective as the three of them killed another 3 before the orcs had finished the rest of the goblins at the cost of 4 of their lives. Leaving one of the orcs to Kaden and Hannah, Daichi attacked the closest one to himself. It was already on its knees. Small bites and cuts all over its body, it was just so defenseless as Daichi stared at it like the prey it was, and finished it off with one swing of his sword.
Daichi basked in the feeling of his muscles twitching and squirming as the pain assaulted him. It longer fazed him like before. Daichi was growing accustomed to this pain and intertwining it with the feeling of victory!
The sensation faded away and Daichi noticed the Orc he’d left to the others staggering trying to hit Kaden but failing miserably to keep up with him as Hannah cautiously closed in on it. Noticing their prudent combination, Daichi stopped paying attention to them and started thinking about his own strength as he opened his

Daichi found it a little strange as he noticed his spirit increasing. Perhaps it had something to do with his tenacity and will power. After all the orcs and goblins weren’t known for anything except their strength and vitality at most.
They continued on for the rest of the morning fighting orcs in battle with goblins and swooping in at the last moment to kill as many as possible as they were close to death!
Despite how brazen they were being. It turned out to be the most effective form of leveling for them. Even more so with the sheer number of orcs and goblins that even with their interference. Since they didn’t leave any witnesses alive, they continued to thrive under these conditions. More over with their poaching style of fighting, they weren’t taking any heavy damage unlike before.
During the afternoon nothing much changed, except they have to take a longer break to get their energy back up from all the battles in the morning.
After finding another group in combat and swooping in for the kills Daichi leveled up yet again, as he enjoyed the excruciating feeling of his muscles tearing and reshaping at a molecular level.
It was at this moment that something happened, suddenly Daichi’s perception of his surroundings drastically increased. It seemed to him as if the world was slightly bright and his senses slightly more alert!
Wondering what had caused this sudden increase in his senses, Daichi hurriedly opened his

Then immediately focus on his new “skill”.

“Ugh! Okay… So this is probably pretty helpful to most people but useless to me since I have no idea how to harness mana in any way nor do I do even know how to touch upon my attribute. The skill is also common so it’s probably a skill that most if not all people get if they reach 50 in Wisdom. Which I guess for most people is normally hard.” Daichi thought as he considered how it was still useful. Perhaps when humans reached certain physical or mental checkpoints in their lives, their conditions took an abrupt change for the better, and when it happened it was registered as a “skill” by this “status” spell.
After all, it seemed like all the status spell really did, was quantify a persons abilities and qualities.
After finishing their orc the others walk up to Daichi with Hannah smiling and Kaden not looking too moody.
“So did you two level up or something?” Daichi asked casually.
“Yep! I reached level 15! Kaden reached 13!” Hannah exclaimed. Daichi nodded his head at both of them.
“I’m pretty content at the moment. It’s been a good day, our efforts have been well rewarded.” Daichi told them as he felt slightly at ease.
