《One Look to Rule the Heavens》Chapter 14: Elder of the Task Hall

Seeing her inch closer Marco’s face goes dark.
“I'm here for a room, if you won't help me, don't blame me for not being nice!"
“Demon you can't fool me!” she begins rushing towards Marco.
Seeing this he's finally lost his patience. His tomoe rotate and the girl suddenly drops to the ground.
In a white space, the girl is strapped to a table, her arms and legs spread. Marco walks up next to her, in his hand is an ice pick.
“Tell me how to get a room" he holds the ice pick up to her face.
“I knew it!! You're a demon! Where am I! Let me go!!” the girl begins to struggle, but no matter how hard she tries she can't get free.
“Tell me!”
“Never!!”
He puts pressure on the ice pick, stabbing it into the girl's eye.
“Stop ahhhhh" the girl tries to struggle harder.
Not listening he pulls the ice pick from her bloody eye, shifting his hand he gets ready to stab the other.
“No please just stop! I’ll tell you” blood and tears seep from her eyes.
The ice pick disappears and the girl's eye returns to normal.
“How do I get a room?!”
“In the chest behind my desk, there are seals. Take one and head to the dorms, find a cave with no seal and all you have to do is transfer Qi into it and place it on the door. With the seal, only you can open it.”
Hearing her explanation he disappears.
In the real world, he reaches down and pulls the bag from her waist. His eyes change into EMS as he touches her back. The portal forms around his right eye and sucks her in. As she disappears Hilda’s bag and his old bag appears. Remaining open for a bit longer Ezra finally emerges.
“Chum juu!” happy to see him she hugs and kisses his face.
“Ok ok, I'm happy to see you too, but we have things to do.” his eyes revert to normal sharingan as he ties the three bags to his waist. Moving to the chest he pulls out a seal. As he gets ready to leave the building he has a sudden thought.
“She said demons have red eyes? Maybe Hilda just didn't know, better safe than sorry" his right eye turns to EMS and his left to his natural green. He closes his right eye and decides to stop supplying Qi to the illusion keeping Hilda and the girl down.
As the Qi has stopped being supplied they should be awake, but since there’s no Qi in the Kamui dimension they are powerless. As long as they remain in his dimension he can put them in an illusion whenever he wishes, so no point wasting Qi now.
Reaching into his bag he pulls out meat, bread, and the spare canteen. Opening his right eye he sends them to the Kamui dimension.
“Ezra let's go" closing his right eye as he exits the building, seal in hand.
Ezra flies out after him and sits on his shoulder.
The night is quiet as few disciples still move about, oblivious to the fact another beauty of the outer court has been kidnapped.

Walking to the dorm people give him odd looks due to the fact his robes don't match.
Entering the dorm building he is surprised. There is nothing in here except six set of stairs leading down, three on each side of the room. There's a set in the front, middle, and back of the building.
Marco's brows shoot up as he remembers what the girl said, caves.
His suspicion is confirmed when he sees a young man ascend the right middle stairs.
“I just go down these stairs to pick a cave right?” Marco asks the man as he tries to exit the building.
He looks at Marco for a moment “New disciple? Yea, but you'll have to head down pretty far to find an empty cave" as he finishes speaking he leaves.
Marco looks at the stairs before taking the one furthest to the left. Walking down the stairs he sees it breaks off into a long hallway. Seeing this Marco decides to go as low as possible.
In another part of the sect, the Task hall. The clerk is sitting behind the assignment desk and biting his nails. He's currently looking at the assignment board on the wall. Every disciple who goes out on missions has their tokens linked to their assignment. When they return to the sect the assignment will light up indicating their return. This way they can't sneak back into the sect and not report to the task hall if they fail.
“Just make it to tomorrow morning and my shift will be over and I won't have to deal with Elder Jun. Five low quality spirit stones for a week shift is not worth this trouble.”
Just as he was mumbling to himself a spot on the board lights up.
His eyes light up as he jumps to his feet. They're back?? They're back!! Excited he rushes from behind the desk and runs through the hall. As he was heading to Elder Jun’s room he suddenly stops.
“Was I really going to a core formation cultivator’s room in the middle of the night?”
Luckily for him, the Hall is empty at night and no one saw him almost make a fool of himself.
“Better go get them"
Returning to his desk he grabs a black box. This box will lead you to anyone in the sect as long as they have their token. Inputting their identification token information the box begins to glow, seeing this he leaves the hall.
Marco finally reaches the bottom of the stairs. By his estimation, he probably descended the whole mountain. Walking into the hallway he sees that all the caves don't have seals on them.
“Ezra go pick a cave"
“Che!” excited, she flies off his shoulder.
Following her, she passes by twenty doors before stopping at the twenty-first. Taking out the seal he places it on the door, at the same time he interjects Qi.
The seal attaches itself to the door causing the stone door to raise. Ezra flies inside and Marco follows, as they enter the door closes.
The room is fairly simple, the door opens in the right corner of the room. In the back left corner is a wood frame bed, next to it is a small wooden nightstand. In the left corner opposite of the door is a wooden desk and chair. On the back is a stone slab, behind the slab there is a hole in the wall.

Marco can feel Qi emanating from the hole. Assuming this is the source of spiritual air Marco smiles.
Ezra flies around the room a few times before landing on the bed.
“Chem chi!” she waves her hands in the air for a bit to Express her excitement and then lays on the bed.
Seeing this Marco sits on the stone block. He unties the two old bags from his waist. Taking out all the spirit stones, the sword, the saber, and the pills he puts them in his new bag. Taking out the last piece of meat and canteen he eats and drinks as he continues.
From Hilda’s bag, he takes out the whip, the stones, and the pills and puts them in his new bag.
Lastly, he opens the girl's bag. Inside is fairly barren, besides a small bottle of pills that look the same as the ones he has, all she has is three spirit stones. Taking the stones and pills he puts them in his new bag.
Holding the three bags he opens his right eye and uses Kamui to send them to his dimension.
Sweat begins to form on his brow. As he is overusing Kamui his Aura is now completely gone and he's running off stamina. Reaching into his bag he pulls out a pill.
Looking at the pill it is green with a slight bronze tint. The pill is the size of a fingernail and gives off a pleasant smell.
As he swallows the pill it dissolves in his throat and is absorbed by the core in his chest. Shocked his eyes open wide.
“It has the same effect as swallowing a Demonic core?” suddenly he remembers Hilda saying cores can be used to make pills.
“So these stamina pills use cores? The effect is only around a third of an actual core, but don't I have a few?” standing up Marco walks to the bed. Taking out all three bottle of pills he pours them on the bed.
“Ezra help me count these” he picks up a pill and hands it to Ezra.
Grabbing it she is enticed by the smell and begins sucking on it.
“Fine, I'll do it myself” shaking his head he begins counting.
As the clerk arrives in front of the door the box stops glowing.
“What!?! What happened?? They should be in the dorms! Why did the signal disappear??”
Panic flashes across his face as he looks around. Gnashing his teeth he begins running back towards the Task hall.
Arriving back at the Task hall he strides down the hallway, his face dark. Arriving in front of a door he takes a deep breath.
“Please...don't kill me" raising his hand he knocks on the door.
He breathes heavily as he waits for a response.
The door slowly opens, and elder Jun appears.
“Are they back?” he looks at the clerk.
The clerk begins to fiddle with his hands “Elder sir" he swallows hard, sweat forming on his brow “According to the board they returned. When I followed the tracer cube, it led me to the dorms. But something strange happened when I got outside the dorm their signal disappeared.”
Elder Jun looks the clerk up and down before grabbing him by the shoulder. taking a step forward and travels over a hundred feet, another step and he leaves the Task hall.
Waving his hand a sword appears and begins floating in the air. With a jump, he lands on the sword and begins flying through the air. The sword leaves an airstream in its wake.
Because he can't fly through the inner court he has to go around. As they soar over the western section a few disciples stare with envy.
The clerks face is pale as he's dragged through the air. At the speed their traveling his body can't handle the air pressure and his internals are being damaged.
In a few seconds, they enter the south section. Not slowing down they soon enter the eastern residential section.
Elder Jun lands in front of the dorms “EVERYONE OUT!” a roar filled with Qi reverberates throughout the residential area. Even though he's angry he wouldn't dare offend those old bastards in the inner court, so his voice doesn't cross the wall.
Many disciples who were cultivating suddenly spit up blood due to the Qi fluctuations from the yell. A few of the weaker disciples spasm and die.
The clerk's body is drenched in sweat, internal bleeding can be seen in his face and neck. If he doesn't receive aid, he will probably die.
Elder Jun releases the clerk and returns his sword to his storage ring. Standing on the lawn in front of the dorm he watches as disciples begin to come out.
“We have 47 pills...46 because you keep eating them" with a smile on his face he touches Ezra’s cheek. As he gets ready to divide the pills he hears a yell.
“EVERYONE OUT!”
Startled Marco looks at the door, a questioning look on his face.
He puts the pills back into their container and places them in his bag. He takes off his robe and throws it onto the bed. From his bag, he takes out the black robe with gold embroidery and puts it on, finally looking like a real disciple.
This robe feels more luxurious compared to his last robe. The sleeves are droopy and cover his hands indicating its slightly to big, not that he minds.
Grabbing Ezra he places her inside of his robe. Using her hands she holds the collar and peeks out her head.
“I need to find something to cover my face or eyes as to not draw suspicion for now. I'm too weak to protect my eyes from being stolen right now.” shaking his head he closes his right eye as he walks to the door. Placing his hand on the stone door he inserts some Qi causing it to rise.
Leaving his room he heads up the stairs.

You have such an amazing way to make the words flow and unbelievable descriptions. Unique characters and a great story line. All the small clues and mystery in the humor and fantasy just makes the book perfect in my opinion. I read all chapters in two days! Less than 48 hours even! I'm REALLY looking forward to the next update, the world of Aethernea is so deep and well thought out, it's beautiful and magical. God I can't believe how creative you are, so many small details with so many families and stories everywhere. Purely fantastical, I admire you." - astro-logical from Wattpad "I love love love Aethernea so much! It is amazing how you created this new world with different creatures, magics, looks, illnesses, and evil! I was blown away by your explanation of the Mana pools and how to weave magic! Simply stunning really! You are one of my favorite authors and Wattpad and I am so glad I stumbled upon Aethernea because it is worth all of my time reading!" - Adriana_V_Blade from Wattpad "I absolutely am loving Aethernea so far. I am certain you belong in the ranks among J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, Suzane Collinings, and many more great and wonderful authors. You opened up a whole new world for me, which only a few great authors have accomplished. While it's true I am pulled into each and every book, few are able to capture me to the point of inescapability. Though, somehow, you have managed this feat. I thank you for this and more! You are a wonderful author and can't wait for more to come!" - daughterofpercabeth7 from Wattpad "WOW! just caught Aethernea in gravity tales! Just when I was getting tired of most xianxia novels this appears and completely blows my mind! I really like the depth and the humorous touch you give the characters and it seems you have the storyline well thought out since you are always hinting about things in the past and the future. It has been such an enjoyable experience that I couldn't stop reading, finishing it in just one day and laughing my way through most of the episodes. But what keeps me so excited for what's coming is the magic system and the professions of the world you are creating. The magic mechanics have such a huge potential! They are simple but at the same time they open so many possibilities. Even though we still only understand the basics of transmutation and augmentation, I expect them to enable fights where there is need of quick thinking and skill, and not just brainless overpower of every opponent. In a way this makes me reminiscent about The Mistborn Series by Brandon Sanderson, which are one of my favorite series ever. The thing that sets Mistborn apart from any other series is that the mechanics are so well thought out that they could be used to create a super cool triple A video game and I cannot help but hope Aethernea reaches the same level or even surpass it. I really think it has that potential. Really hope this series gets the attention it deserves. As for me, Thursdays and Sundays just got a whole more exciting! =)" - AlexMLion "Your writing is fantastic and riveting, the chapters and character flow so smooth, and it captivates the reader with the many twist and turns that tricks one mind into thinking this is about to happen, when suddenly the exact opposite happens. You truly are in inspirational writer with a brilliant mind that can see and put words into chapters and into this one truly awesome book. Thank you!" - AshleyStaar from Wattpad "I loved this story, such detailed description and accurate words, both Kiel and Elaru completely caught my attention, your writing style is just beautiful and the plot is astounding and it's just the first episode! This kind of fantasy stories are my favourite, it has a lot of magic in it, rivalry and sense of humour." - BlackWhiteD from Wattpad
