《High-Class Mob》6. Man of Culture

Morning came for Colt; he opened his eyes and felt his muscles aching.
But it was not to the point where he could not move. Slowly, he got up from the bed, his head was hurting, but a clear memory flashed past his mind.
That moment last night, when Mina looked at him with genuine emotion of love in her eyes, was stuck to him.
He inadvertently smiled at that thought as he began thinking of something from the past just before getting off the bed.
‘She wouldn’t betray me like Tia, right?’
Colt, no, Leo had a sudden image flash in his mind. He remembered the reason why he got drunk before ending up here in the first place. A sad smile crept up his face.
Cheated and used, that was what happened in his previous relationship. He was left by his girlfriend of years for someone else right after finishing college, which Colt paid for when she had no money to pursue her dreams.
It was still fresh in his mind, and with it being a fresh wound, the sad smile could only be genuine.
‘Well, look at the bright side, I did destroy her social status...’ Remembering what he did, satisfaction replaced his sadness.
He finally decided to get ready for the day. Going over his wardrobe, he checked what kind of clothes he would wear for the day.
He wished to get some simplistic clothing, but nothing was more simplistic than the black coat he wore yesterday. Everything else was like a grandiose costume party-esque dress, which he didn’t like in the slightest bit.
‘This world is weird; it had advanced in magical technology, but has yet to improve in fashion? What bullshit.’
In the end, he chose the easy to wear white undercoat and black pants similar to yesterday. He wishes to train on the ways of swordsmanship today as he had yet to have any means to protect himself.
Not that he was still worried about dying in Mina’s hands as he already got that covered if he stays faithful. He had already given up fighting that end.
This was a fantasy novel, and this world particularly involves a lot of wars.
The Kingdom of Regalus where the Edgeworth family resides would experience many conflicts in the span of five volumes. Their enemy? The Eastern Continent, which was said to be hell for anyone other than humans.

Unlike other novels, the Sword of Heaven doesn’t discriminate on interspecies children and relationships as a whole.
In the Western Continent where they were situated, that would at least be the case.
But over at the Eastern Continent where many Beast Tribes reside, a lot of “racism” occurs. Although Colt never got to see the Eastern Continent thanks to his laziness. It had been hinted that demi-humans were referred to as slaves over there.
The Eastern Continent was also ruled over by the cleverly named enemy — The Empire. Colt was sure that around Vol. 4, the enemy might not be The Empire but a secret organization that controls everything on the shadows, but that doesn’t matter right now.
‘The bottom line is that a war will happen in three years. The official timeline should start three years after Mina and Colt Edgeworth got engaged, or two years after Colt dies.’
“Young Master Colt, what are you doing!?”
A shocked voice echoed in Colt’s ears. He turned to the serene voice’s owner and saw Mina with her perfect visage looking at him, stupefied.
Colt looked at himself, from top to bottom, then back to Mina, tilting his head, asking.
“I am changing, is there anything the matter?”
At the moment, Colt had his top bare. And his pants were partially down. It was a humiliating position, but he didn’t cover himself, nor did he do anything outrageous like screaming in embarrassment; that would simply be stupid.
Colt’s body had good form, great build, and most importantly, the package he carried with him was not something ordinary mEN possesses.
‘Heh, only incompetent men hide their bodies, look at my six-pack abs, look at it and revel at my beauty...holy shit, I am actually turning slightly narcissistic. It must be the remnants of the original owner of the body.’
Colt looked at himself on one of the many mirrors of the room. He was indeed handsome, but he couldn’t believe narcissism plagued him. So, he blamed the original Colt to which the original would reply with indignation for such accusations.
“That’s you, not me. Don’t throw baseless declaration, the narcissist here is clear - that’d you, but I do say I have a great body.” such would be the original’s words.
Moving forward, Colt didn’t hide his body. Instead, he flaunted it and did the next best thing. Asking politely, “Can you please close the door? I am trying to change.”

But, Mina’s reply caught him by surprise.
“I am sorry, Young Master Colt, but I was asked by the Countess to help you get dress. Please do not mind me and raise your hands now.”
Colt rubbed his temples and raised his head to observe the beauty of the ceiling. ‘I knew people were plotting behind my back.’ He thought to himself before complying with her demands.
Right now, Mina, the one and only daughter of the Vera Household, was helping the wastrel of a Young Master of the Edgeworth Household. If word gets out, Colt won’t die by Mina’s hands but by getting mobbed by her countless jealousy driven suitors.
‘This woman is simply too attractive. If she becomes my wife, then I’ll be able to have her as a companion...I left Earth at age 22, this time, Colt is around 19, right? Wait...’
Colt’s mind processed some things and then looked at Mina, who was going through his wardrobe trying to find suitable clothes. He looked at her with great intensity; a single question filled his head.
‘Is she legal?’
Legality, a question every man in the 21st century should care about when heading into a relationship with anyone. If she was not 18 and above, then it’s a no go. Colt had the same preference and values back when he was still on Earth. In fact, he likes older women who had ripened in the correct areas.
Like how women like a man with tall stature, he likes his women just right, mature in both mind and body.
Looking at Mina’s body, she was a perfect ten, and her attitude was also a perfect ten. Even if one places her yandereness in the equation, at the very least, she would be a solid nine.
Colt looked at Mina, gathered his courage, and decided to ask the question he kept in his chest...that was until he chickened out and decided to go around the whole thing and finish changing clothes and went to find Neun.
They say asking a woman her age was an insensitive thing; thus, he didn’t want to make any cracks to their relationship, so he went to find someone who might know something.
He looked for Neun after asking Mina to tell everyone that he would join everyone for breakfast a bit late, he now faced the Edgeworth family’s mercenary-like butler.
Colt looked at the eyes of Neun, with the seriousness he never had before. Neun saw this and immediately understood that whatever it was he wishes to ask would be a matter of great importance.
“Young Master, what is the problem?”
“Neun, answer me, how old is the Young Lady Mina Vera?”
“Huh?”
“I am asking you how old the only daughter of the Vera household is.”
“...19 years of age, Young Master, why?”
Colt’s entire body cooled down, and then he heaved a sigh of relief, looked at Neun, and then continued, “Around 2:00 p.m, get the Captain of the guards to come to training grounds E, I wish for him to train me.”
“...Yes...”
“Good.”
Colt didn’t clear anything to Neun, and the butler looked at Colt’s disappearing back with a headache.
‘He’s acting upon spontaneous thoughts now?’
Colt directly head to the dining area to have breakfast; he opened the door and found his family talking with smiles on their faces. He had a pretty good idea of what was going on.
He walked towards the table next to Mina.
“Colt dear, have a seat.” Countess Faerith offered.
He sat down next to Mina and then noticed his father bearing a severe expression.
“Ahem!” Shickly cleared his throat, “Son, the Marquis and I have decided, in consideration to your and Young Lady Vera’s feelings to one another, that you two will be betrothed to each other and become future pillars that would support the Kingdom as husband and wife.”
Colt and Mina looked at each other then back to their fathers, who both wore broad smiles.
‘Inescapable fate indeed.’
“I shall do my utmost in making her happy, Father-in-Law” Not showing any emotion other than happiness, Colt got up and bowed towards Marquis Vera and spoke all the formalities he had to say, all the while thinking about something else...
‘Did being tied down made the original feel constrained?’
Colt thought as he smiled, he then saw the jovial Mina who uttered a single word...
“Dear...”
“Mm.” with a smile, he nodded his head.

Hacking Reality (A teenage Mad Scientist's story.)
Maya Williams was smart. For the first time however, she realized she might be a little too smart. At least if the fact that a gang had kidnapped her was any indication. But that didn’t matter, because she’d show them. She’d show them all!!! Just as soon as the voices in her head could agree on how to get out of this mess. --- Please Note: This is a version of a forum quest I run following a teenage Mad Scientest with heroic tendencies in the same city/setting as my other stories the Huntsman's Quest and Get Ink'd. Meaning that while a majority of the plot is made up by me, the major choices as well as what each chapter is about are usually made by the actual readers in forum votes. Additionally, given how this is essentially a story version of a Tabletop game there is also a background RPG system that while the characters aren't necessarily aware of, the readers can see these stats to know how each chosen 'Action' effects their character's development.
