《Mortalis Mortal》Tragedy Struck

Hello Awesome People, Sorry for the long message...
Why? Why did I fail so spectacularly? Well, because last Wednesday while I was writing, I got a call from my mom. She told me that my grandfather was in the hospital after a really nasty car wreck. And... the days became hell from then on.
Thankfully, he will recover, though it will be a long and arduous process. Honestly, I'm surprised he survived; his car practically turned into a metal accordion. Miracle, karma, whatever you want to call it, he should have died that night but didn't, which we're very grateful for.
So, take a moment today to tell those you care about how much they mean to you. Just something simple. Words, a pat on the back, a hug, or make it more special. Just... do it. You never know when fate will strike and steal a loved one away.
I certainly didn't expect my grandpa to nearly die last Wednesday. Also, fun fact... a helicopter transportation to a hospital costs 20 grand.
Now, what does all this have to do with Mortalis Mortal? Well... aside from having me miss my deadline, it's also really complicated life. By. A. Lot. Since we're the only reliable family he has, we're going to be helping my grandpa out a lot, which means I gotta help out my family a lot.
This means less time. More stress. More crazy. Less writing. It also has shown me that I'm running out of opportunity. Right now I'm not 100% independent of my family, thus making finances reasonable and my free time -what I can muster for it- spent on actual hobbies like writing.
Pretty soon, this may not be the case.
As such, I need to focus my efforts towards progress. I want to be a programmer, a writer, and work on games. Mortalis Mortal is a lot of fun... but that's just it, I write it for fun. I can't make money off of it or publish it. I can spend all my free time writing it... but that's not going to pay the bills, as tragic as that is.

I need to take a pause on Mortalis Mortal. A hiatus. I may come back to it when I can support myself, or just write out whenever I can, but, till then... ya. Frozen in time.
I'm sorry. Especially after the previous message where I said I was going to finish it. Which, I WANT TO!!!! But, this tragic turn of events has made realization slap me upside the head. I have a time limit. I gotta get somewhere soon or fate will deal me a card and I'll just have to live with it; for better or worse. I don't want to spend my life working at jobs I hate, living paycheck to paycheck, and trying to rise only for life to swat me back down.
If I am going to shoot for my dreams... Mortalis Mortal has to take the backseat.
BUT! There is a silver lining to this. Recently, while at the hospital, I played Choice of the Dragon on my phone. I've played Choice of Games before, and they're pretty fun. They are choose-your-own-adventure games with no or barely any graphics, mostly text, with the focus on player choice. Addicting at times... successful too.
And, those type of games utilize programming and writing.
I currently own Game Maker Studio 2 and know how to use it moderately well. I like to write. And, I like designing RPGs. And so... I'm thinking I'll make a game.
Also, many comments regard what you would do or what Chaon should have done...
And it hit me. The world of Mortalis is, by far, the most well-developed world I have. It's also one of the funnest I have. So, why not use it for the world of a choose your own adventure RPG? You, glorious readers, seemed to enjoy it. And so I'm hopeful that it will prove interesting in a game too.

And unlike most choose your own adventures, it wouldn't be so linear. Direct. I could make it more like a Bioware game, just in textual form.
Want to have Ditto and Ivy as companions? I could do that. More companions. You choose. Have events with them. Have them help out the player in combat.
And combat! A turn-based textual combat system. Player leveling. Customization. Maybe have a house? A town? City? Country? Explore regions. Quests. Alliances, goddess loyalties, so on and so forth. Have different guilds. Make your own? The sky is the limit (well, aside from time constraints).
I've played Fenoxo's games a few times after running across them, and they helped spur this inspiration forward. (Warning, Fenoxo Fen Fen writes adult textual RPGs... so search at your own discretion)
Yeah, my imagination ran wild on the possibilities of a game about Mortalis... but, I want to do it. Eventually I could put it on the mobile market as well. It is something I can do, something I love to do, and something that may earn me enough money so I don't eat ramen for the rest of my life once I'm fully on my own.
And where does this leave you all? Well, as you, awesome people, helped me a lot and offered feedback and encouragement, I would like to do something in return and not just dump you all on the wayside; I'm not Chaos, lol.
Once I get a decent portion of the game up, I'll post it online for everyone to try. Maybe leave feedback, pretty please? And if anyone is interested in helping somehow... well, that'd be awesome; I'd be happy to scratch the back of those that scratch mine, so to speak.
And so... naive? Probably. Disillusioned? Maybe. But it's a chance I may not get again, so I want to dive into it. And even if I don't make a penny from this game, I would still have the enjoyment of making a game that I want to make. I would gain a lot more skill. And, I would be able to use it to maybe help me land a better job.
I regret having to put Mortalis Mortal on hiatus... but hopefully, I can make up for it by letting you, awesome person, be a Thalwesse within the wild world of Mortalis. No more having to get annoyed at Chaon's dumb decisions, right?
So, when I find out where this path leads me, I hope that this is the right decision. Heck, I don't know, but I don't want to live with regrets, and I would really regret missing this chance when it's in front of me.
Feel free to comment or whatnot. If you want to rip into me, go for it too...
Sorry again. Thanks for reading

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.
