《Isekai Gundam (Reboot)》Episode 14: Not a Battle, Just a Curbstomp (Part 3)

The DM laughed maniacally at the summoning sphere shone brighter and brighter. All the while, the shocked MSGs were girding themselves for what would surely be a fight of a lifetime. A summoning that was this bright must have cost at least at a million Mana points, and therefore they were likely to face something in a league of its own. Finally, a brilliant flash of light dyed the room in a pure white light, blinding Arkhan’s army and the DM alike. As the light faded, the creature that was summoned was revealed to be….

A turkey…

The DM rolled with the punches, hoping that a bluff would be enough to convince his attackers that they were facing something terrible that just so happened to look inconspicuous.

“See?! You are no match for this mighty beast! I spent 1000 years’ worth of Dungeon Points on summoning this monstrosity! Don’t let its appearance fool you; it is a vicious demon that can easily kill gods! If you all leave now, I will forgive your transgressions and let you live!” The Goblin DM screamed while sweating bullets.

The assembled force of Mobile Suit Golems knew that surrender was not an option. Their creator could not go back to the Human Lands and this DM had already proven that he could not be trusted. Plus they had lost many of their comrades in the fight to get here and had no intention of going back to their creator only to hand him a shameful defeat. They had made their choice; they would fight this deceptive abomination to the last, even if they had to lose control of the captured floors in order to do so. If they fell this day, they would be martyrs to the cause and would be seen as heroes to future Mobile Suit Golems and to the other beings who would one day see their creator as they did.

“Earn your place in History, brave soldiers of our Glorious Creator! If it is our fate to die this day to see our Maker’s desires brought to reality, then so be it! Never forget your anger, your rage towards this lowly monster who has taken so many of our brave brothers in arms from us! We go in glory! Unleash everything upon it! Hold nothing back! SEIG ARKHAN!” Gihren Zabi yelled, winding the mass of MSGs into a patriotic frenzy.

Soon enough, the mass of MSGs began chanting at the top of their voices, “SEIG ARKHAN!” as they readied themselves for destruction.

Then, all at once, the mass of MSGs opened fire upon the turkey.

The roar of guns, bazookas and grenades shook the room, sending the Goblin DM running in fear. After 3 full minutes of what seemed like an unending assault from the Mobile Suit Golems, they finally stopped and waited for both the dust to settle and the retaliation of this ‘God Killer’. In the place where the turkey once stood there was only a blasted scorch mark from the massive firepower that had been unleashed.

The enemy had, unexpectedly, been vanquished.

A wave of anger and embarrassment swept through the attacking forces.

“Were we seriously prepared to die because of a barnyard animal?! It wasn’t even a real monster, was it?! Give us back our feelings!”

This was the general consensus.

Gihren Zabi cleared his throat (?) and advanced toward the cowering DM.

“You. You scum. You put us through more danger getting here than you did once we finally arrived! Now I look like a fool! No, now we all look like fools for believing you! We were fully prepared to martyr ourselves and you didn’t even give us a worthy opponent! Give us back our comrades! But no, you cannot do that can you? For your actions and the actions of your subordinates you deserve the worst possible death, but unfortunately we lack the time to give that to you.”

The Goblin breathed a sigh of relief. Were they going to let him live? This creature said they weren’t going to give him death, right? It said it didn’t have the time to kill him, so could this be mercy?

“S-so you’ll let me live?” The DM whimpered, now having lost all traces of the bravado he had shown when using the hologram.

“Yes. We will let you live alright…” Gihren said while reaching for his waist.

“Oh, thank you! I will never forget this kindne…”

“…IN HELL!” and with one swift motion the Heat Hawk Type 5 was swung and cleft the Goblin in twain.

As the DM fell dead, all control of the dungeon ceased. There would be no more coordination and the spawns would happen less frequently and further apart. At least, that would be the case until someone or something else claimed the Dungeon Core for their own. Every one of the assembled force could feel the core calling out to them, urging them to take its power for their own. If they were normal monsters or summons they would not have been able to resist its siren song and would have made a mad dash to seize the core. They would not give in to the call, however, as their Passive Skill Fanatical Loyalty: Arkhan made them far more loyal to their creator than to the call of the Dungeon Core.

The battle on the surface had been in the favor of Arkhan and his forces since the beginning. He has the ranged advantage and had exploited the hell out of it. The battle wasn’t nearly the level of danger that he had anticipated, as only a small amount of the monsters had gotten past the wall of continuous artillery fire, and those that did were mowed down by the Rick Doms and the small arms of both the Zaku Tanks and Zaku Cannons. Arkhan had received a report more than 2 hours ago about how the usage of G3 gas was ineffective and that using Flamethrowers was the better option. A little more than 3 minutes ago he had heard that many of his invading forces were about to possibly martyr themselves in the final chamber against a terrible foe. Just when he was prepared to expect the worst, as comms had gone dark 3 minutes ago, he received a message from Gihren.

“Sir, we have defeated the Dungeon Master. We await your arrival so that you may seize the Dungeon Core.”

Arkhan hesitated, but then asked the million dollar question.

“How many were lost in fighting the monster that was summoned…? I haven’t looked at the available troops, so….” He trailed off.

An awkward silence reigned for a while. Was Gihren getting ready to break the bad news in as light a way as possible?

“Casualties are zero.”

“Come again? I thought you had said you were facing some apocalyptic foe? Are we really that overpowered?” Arkhan said, both shocked and impressed at the ferocity and strength of his troops.

“It angers me to say this, but the enemy was bluffing and we were played for fools. Although, to be fair, the summoning ritual looked quite impressive…” Gihren said with a tired voice.

“Well…. I guess I will be on my way then…. Good work, everyone. I would say ‘Drinks on me’ but I am the only one who can drink and I am too young for that. I will be down shortly.”

Thus, the siege of the Uncharted Lands Dungeon came to an end, and the ‘battle’ that would become known as the, “Great Turkey Shoot” would be etched into legend.
