“No slacking! Do it more efficiently!”
I was getting near the place where they were training, I could hear them shouting.
I wonder what kind of train…ing
What came right before my eyes were little kids carrying gigantic stones and passing them around like light balls.
Truly an intriguing sight to behold.
“Hm? Oh! Enrica~!” [Shen]
“More power, you magg-! What is it Shen? Can’t you see I’m busy?” [Enrica]
“Turn around~” [Shen]
“Hm? Eek!” [Enrica]
“Hey Lan! Had enough sleep?” [Ruin]
“Yo, yeah, I had my fill. You sure work em hard huh?” [Lan]
“Of course, imagine if they’d encounter what we did and they’d be weaker than us” [Ruin]
“Aren’t they pretty strong already? I mean…” [Lan]
You can totally imagine them carrying a city if they work together…
“Strength in general, for sure but battle strength is different ya know” [Ruin]
“Sup Lan?” [Shen]
“Uh Hi Shen… Yo Enrica” [Lan]
I thought I could just wash away what happened last night.
The accident that turned into an incident flash before my eyes as I saw her.
It was an accident… it couldn’t be helped… couldn’t be helped…
“H-Hello La-“ [Enrica]
“Oi” [Iron]
“…” [Lan]
“So it’s you… you motherf-” [Iron]
“Iron” [Ruin]
“Pull out your best weapon. Now” [Iron]
“Why?” [Lan]
“NOW!” [Iron]
The man who suddenly spoke between us was oozing with bloodlust.
I pulled out my dagger since I’m not used to sparklight yet.
I have a vague idea of what he’s leading on but I don’t like it
“Now what?” [Lan]
“Iron! Don’t!” [Enrica]
“Now” [Iron]
Without warning, he lunged to me.
The ground absorbed the impact of his kick and a small crater formed there
“We FIGHT!” [Iron]
He struck me with a metal stick that I avoided by the hair.

He’s fast!
Also… that clearly wasn’t an attack for a friendly spar
I don’t know why he holds hostility towards me but he really did mean to kill me; I felt it.
His strike hit air
With minimal nimble footwork, his back was faced to me but I didn’t attack
“Iron, stop this now!!!” [Enrica]
“Hey, shouldn’t you be stopping them?” [Shen]
“I know I should, I really know but… I wanna see how this turns out” [Ruin]
“Heh~ that’s new coming from you” [Shen]
Despite Enrica’s feeble attempt to stop us, her words didn’t reach this battle crazy dude named Iron
“Of course… insects have fast reflexes” [Iron]
Without flinching, he attempted hitting me again.
He swung his stick overhead then I took a step back to evade it.
He spun the stick once then followed with the tip aiming directly to my abdomen.
I saw it coming so I pivoted my right foot backwards; as if doing a half turn
I evaded his stab but
“\Cane…chain\” [Iron]
His stick broke into a few pieces; connected by chains
As he slashed at me without even facing me.
He did a clean horizontal cut, shoulder level… his shoulder level
It caught me by surprise since it was completely solid but the chain-like sound of his weapon hit me.
I enforced arcana unto my legs then jumped into air as his weapon barely passed me.
I clad my hand with electricity then reached my hand out to his weapon then
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” [Iron]
It was… over

NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY: The Adventures of The Creeping Bam (BOOK ONE: The Job)
TAO is a broken world held together with nothing but magic and the will of the gods who protect it and its people. Then thousand years ago THE SUNDERING struck and Tao was almost torn apart by a terrible magical cataclysm which resulted in the planet almost being halted in its journey through the cosmos. It took all the power the gods of Tao could muster to restore its orbit and set it turning again, but in their efforts it was forever changed – its axis was drastically altered, and it now spins in such a way that one face of the world is forever turned from the sun it orbits, leaving half the planet in perpetual darkness. The various humanoid races that survived and now thrive within the habitable parts of THE DAY LANDS have come to live in perpetual fear of what lives beyond THE BORDERLANDS that separate them from whatever dwells within THE NIGHT LANDS, but for ten millennia it has kept its secrets. The land of RUNDAO languishes under the rule of their warlike Northern neighbours, the TEKTEHRAN EMPIRE, while a small, ragtag band of motley adventurers ply their mercenary trade fighting monsters and protecting the common man from the various dangers that haunt the night and prowl the hinterlands on the edges of civilization. THE CREEPING BAM have amassed a modest reputation in their years together, but they’re still just a small-time party of sellswords, thieves, outcasts and mages. They’re also exactly the kind of underdogs the people of Tao doesn’t yet realise are needed to save the world from the encroaching darkness they doesn’t even know is coming … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.
