《World Transcending Dragon Paragon [HIATUS]》Chapter 29: The State of the Soul (2)

Yulian once again found himself in his conscious realm. This was another word for his soul, the foundation of his spirit force.
This world was filled with golden fog. This fog covered the endless space and even the sky above. The only things that stood apart from the fog in this world were the 12 stars twinkling above.
The golden globe that should have been controlling the path of the stars had disappeared. The stars had flown by themselves to create a diagram in the sky, but the sun was no more. The world seemed more desolate.
Yulian used his sharp eyes to look in every direction. The golden globe that once controlled the revolution of the stars had disappeared! This sort of thing was impossible to happen until he reached the level of a Wargod as a spirit reader… and reaching that level required at least a few years even with his talent!
The golden globe was the accumulation of Yulian’s unused potential in cultivation. It was like a star, symbolizing Yulian’s talent. If he steadily cultivated with it… even without any resources he would reach the level of a Wargod in spirit reading in a few years.
Reaching the level of a Wargod in a few years without any resources wasn’t a small matter. Other than Hong and Thunder Lord, the two strongest in the world and the Investigators of their respective dojos, there were extremely few existences above Wargods…
Thus, the dominant existences in the Fighter community were the Wargods! Even the weakest Wargod had the fist strength of more than 64,000 kg. With force multiplication martial arts, they could absolutely display the fist strength of more than hundred thousand kg.
This amount of strength was enough to shatter hills and dry up lakes! Before this, Yulian’s spirit force was only at the level of beginner Warlord. And now, his spirit potential had been completely exhausted and the converted spirit force had filled his conscious realm!
Since this excess spirit force had not been refined into his spirit force cultivation base… This meant that a Wargod level of spirit force was residing in his Beginner Warlord level soul’s conscious realm!
While Yulian felt that there were no ill-effects on his soul, he certainly would not wait for his soul to crack, his spirit to be destroyed, his 5 senses and perception to go haywire and his memories to disappear!
Forget about the meeting with Catalan and proving himself to get resources, if he didn’t begin to stabilize and condense the spirit force now, life and death would not be assured!
Yulian immediately sat down in a cross-legged posture in his conscious realm. With the golden mist circulating and accompanied by only the 12 stars in the sky, Yulian cleared all thoughts in his mind and sat down to meditate.
Meanwhile, in the real world, Yulian’s true body had also sat down in a meditative posture. In the night, starlight unceasingly streamed down through an open window and bathed his body.

The Yulian in the conscious realm was only an ‘avatar’ formed by spirit force! While this avatar could not get out of the conscious realm, it was capable of controlling the spirit force within the conscious realm!
It was the most important component for spirit reader techniques!
At the same time, both of them stretched their hands, cracked their fingers and began to form myriad signs and seals with their fingers. The light of the stars began to brighten and the starlight seemed to penetrate every pore of Yulian’s body, strengthening it.
As spirit readers cultivated to higher realms, only the power of their telekinesis and spirit force would not increase. Their physical strength and body would be strengthened as well!
The every flick of Yulian’s fingers produced myriad seals. Starlight from the vast world outside and the spirit force from the world within Yulian’s soul converged to refine him from inside to outside, in body and soul. The illusionary gaseous starlight condensed into liquid, and further agglomerating into solid. And this solid, silver starlight gave birth to a star, flying to the sky in Yulian’s conscious realm.
This was the ultimate cultivation technique of the 108 Star Diagrams, Nine Constellation Starry River. It required Wargod level spirit force and Warlord level genetic energy cultivation to use safely. Yulian had a ridiculously large amount of spirit force, but it was still reluctantly at the level of a Warlord and his physical body was at the level of an Intermediate Warrior, both being far away from the requirements!
But this technique was worth its title as the ultimate! It could quickly condense stars in the conscious realm by completely utilizing the spirit force! While cultivating the 108 Star Diagrams with the basics, Yulian required a long time to condense his first star, with the duration increasing with every star condensed. And with this technique, in only a few minutes, he had condensed the 13th star on his Star Diagram!
He was risking his life by using a high-level technique without meeting the requirements to cultivate! This would impact the foundation of his cultivation. But there was simply no other choice, if he dared to delay, the calamity of his soul shattering might occur!
“Even if I destroy my talent in spirit reading, I don’t care! I will find some way to fix it later! For now, stabilizing my soul and not turning into a retard is the most important thing!” Yulian screamed this in his heart as his fingers nimbly flipped through countless seals.
Yulian’s desire to preserve his life was very high. Who cares about small things like foundation now?
The misty, gaseous spirit force that filled Yulian’s conscious realm was drawn by his handseals to his fingers. With the deft movements of his fingers, they turned into stars that dotted the sky.
The mysterious world concealed by the golden mist was revealed as a desolate plain. In the desolate world within Yulian’s soul, the only wonders worth seeing were the many stars that dotted the sky.

Of course, who would look down on the God who could turn the mist into the stars as a mere wonder?
Now, there were 23 stars in the desolate sky. Meanwhile, a somewhat moderate amount of misty spirit force remained in the conscious realm. Yulian felt relief course through him; after he condensed the 24th star, his spirit force would be sufficiently stable.
Suddenly, Yulian felt his brain freeze up as he flipped his fingers to form the seals to condense the 24th star.
This was only expected, after all the 108 Star Diagrams technique was divided into 9 stages with 12 stars forming a single stage.
Previously, Yulian was struck at a bottleneck on the 11th star. He ended up condensing the 12th star and completing the first stage of the technique after tempering his mind in the VR game.
But now, it was no time for calming his mind, he had to break through this bottleneck!
Within Yulian’s conscious realm, the avatar was flipping through handseals. In reality, Yulian’s true body was flipping through handseals as well. The synergy of the two drew large amounts of starlight from the starry sky. This starlight circulated through Yulian’s body, finally ending up in the conscious realm!
The starlight from the outside world and the spirit force from the inner world coalesced and gathered into a shining, twinkling star! This 24th star flew up to take its place in the starry sky. Yulian had finally reached the 2nd stage of the 108 Star Diagrams! He was now a Intermediate Warlord spirit reader!
Yulian stood up from his meditative posture as he glanced at the 24 stars shining in the sky. They were twinkling bright, radiating spirit force. Yulian flicked his finger, and the stars actually came down to revolve around him! With another seal, they shot up to reach the 9th layer of the sky in this illusionary world!
The 2nd stage of the 108 star diagrams allowed the spirit reader to freely control the stars created! They could even be used as components in attack and defense formations!
Yulian decided to use the most basic formation, the defensive spirit force formation ‘Nine Skies Starfield’. It was pretty simple to use, all 24 stars had to be sent to the end of the conscious realm. They would gather together to weather attacks to soul! Things like the paralyzing force brought by killing intent would be completely warded off!
Just then, when the 24 stars reached the top of the sky in the conscious realm…
‘Boom! Boom! Boom!’ The sound of explosions was heard by Yulian! Every explosion seemed to cut into his soul and freeze his spirit. There was no way he could respond; he could only stand frozen and unable to move.
Soundlessly, a large amount of stones, rocks and boulders struck the earth. They shattered into dust which further separated into mist. This mist once again covered the conscious realm.
All of the 24 stars were destroyed and reduced to loose dust. The dust further separated into gaseous spirit force. Yulian’s spirit force cultivation was once again reduced to Beginner Warrior from an Intermediate Warlord.
Even though Yulian’s spirit reader cultivation base had been reset, he didn’t panic. A cold light shone in his eyes as he looked up at the sky.
There was a dragon in the sky. It was only composed of black and white, did not have wings and was serpentlike. It was like a zebra-striped snake.
However, the dominating aura of desolation that radiated from the beast was like the Dragon Paragon, his master. Thus, what could it be other than a dragon?
This beast did not have an ounce of intelligence within it. It was like a puppet, and would only respond to commands by its master. Yulian could tell this with a glance, after all these beasts were outsiders in his conscious realm!
Yulian scanned the entirety of the conscious realm with his eyes. This strange dragon was not alone. There were nine other dragons in the conscious realm! Every one of them was like a serpent and they all were colored by the aura of an element.
Fire, metal, wood, earth, water, wind, lightning, light and darkness! The nine elements formed into nine dragons! Along with the dragon giving of a desolate aura, these ten beasts had suddenly intruded into his conscious realm!
However, from where had they come and why had they destroyed his spirit force? Yulian did not know the answer to the second question, but these beasts could have only one origin…
As expected, a single figure walked out of the misty fog to greet Yulian. His master, the Dragon Paragon, was not in his original form of a majestic dragon.
Instead, he was a fair-skinned man of around 40 years of age. Clad in white robes with a golden sash on his robes, he looked like a man of Asian origin. With a gentle smile, he began speaking.
“As expected, the successor of my technique was no young genius. Instead, you are an experienced cultivator who sought to change your curse of poor talent by cultivating my technique. After all, it is impossible to cultivate the soul before reaching the Earthly Yuan stage of cultivation…”
On hearing the ‘Earthly Yuan’ word, Yulian was completely dumbfounded. What level of cultivation does this represent?
However, the Dragon Paragon ignored Yulian’s feeling and continued speaking. “An elder who has borne the harsh wind and rain in the cultivation world is also preferable to an untested genius… How do you like the cultivation technique I have made?”

[SI/OC Third Shinobi War]Well fought and well done. All of us fight as one. It took me three years to be able to properly read the faded out kanji of the flimsy poster that I keep in my back pocket. The illustration is colourful, bright reds and yellows. Colours that would definitely catch the attention of a child. The poster was carefully placed along the walls and fences of my village, level with the height of a four year old. I thought enlisting to become a Shinobi was a heroic deed, something I needed to do to save my family from poverty and to serve my country at the cusp of war. Then I graduated early to be deployed to the front lines.I am sadly and sorely mistaken. Warnings:Slow-burnNO OP-NESSRomance? What romance?
