With a screech and a thunder sound, the Holy Arcane Torpedo flew at light speed towards the Siberian Mammoth boss.

*You have defeated the Siberian Mammoth. You gain 59 million Exp.
*You have found the All-Element Resistance Manual.
*You have cleared Floor 62. Repeat/wait/go forth?
'Wait.'
Pef glanced at his wives, then opened his inventory. He scrolled down til he found the new manual and poked it with a curious finger.
*Learn All-Element Resistance? Yes/Yes.
Pef pressed Yes, with a tired sigh. Sometimes, Gaia really gave him strange multiple choices.
*You have learned All-Element Resistance. All-Element Resistance fuses with Holy Shield and Holy Aura.
*You have obtained a Legendary Spell. Holy Barrier ignores 300 damage, blocks 300 damage and reduces all incoming damage by 30 percent. This includes Heaven's Tribulations and God-class spells. Passive. Holy Barrier is now level 1.
*Congratulations, you are now a Legend!
"Uh, check this spell out..." he said in a rather confused voice.
Lise stepped beside him and read the description of the new defensive spell with a serious frown.
"Wow, can't say I ever heard of anyone with that Legend. Holy Barrier...it's already amazing at level 1. By the time it reaches level 20 it will be able to reduce any damage by 50 percent? Incredible." she whispered to herself.
Pef hugged her with one arm, and gestured at her own character page. "Your Legend is called Luminous Craft, my love?" he wondered with a wry voice.
"Yes. I am the only Alchemist able to craft Luminous Jewels. As their name says, the crystals glow with inner light. Forever." Lise explained proudly.
He nodded to himself. It seemed a small ability, until you considered the consequences. Light was a finite resource.
Especially within dungeons or other realms without electricity. You'd need to consume fuel or mana to keep a light going.

But to keep a million lights going? For thousands of years? It would be expensive.
"Well, I remember Achilles and Siegfried had damage reduction as well." Lucia added, while raising an eyebrow as a warning.
Pef nodded. "Yes, you're right. Not the same thing I have, but similar. Still, the barrier will help. Ascensions are becoming expensive, with the need to mitigate that tribulation lightning and losing the artifacts."
Miya patted her neck and her pink ribbon. "Perhaps we can find or buy other relics like this. If we can obtain 50 percent Magic Resistance, from indestructible artifacts..." she said in a wistful tone.
They all sighed. Relics were rare. That they even had a few was already a great help.
Lise held a hand out. "In other news, I have been granted free rein to obtain the Queen of Lichtenstein title. It seems my dear brother is being sent to Andorra."
Pef frowned at the news, considering the reasons why this would happen. "Von Mackberg. He wouldn't just call it quits.
Not before we even left this dungeon..." he mused to himself.
"The Alchemists never lose, my husband. In war and peace, they always back both sides, while holding their money." Lise murmured with a suspicious glance at the dungeon's sky.
"You will be a great queen, my lovely Lise. And your castle, close to Geneva and your alchemist lab. Instead, it is your brother being sent to the Pyrenees, and tested by the world. If he fails, he was never a good king." Pef deduced after a few minutes of deep thinking.
Lise smiled sadly. "Good? No. My brother was always a degenerate, lazy noble. His first attempt at leading an army was smashed by Napoleon. Luckily I wasn't born yet."

Pef grinned wide. "Being beaten by Napoleon isn't that bad. He kinda beat everyone."
"My brother had three times more troops, plus his own magic senses. It was then that Von Mackberg found and recruited my brother. He tried to summon a demon to send after the small general, in revenge. Damn idiot!" Lise muttered with a disgusted tone, making everyone snicker.
"Would that even work?" Pef wondered out loud.
The wind began blowing hard and noisily around them. "I would have killed Otto Siegmarinen if his summoning was concluded. Interfering with politics directly with magic is not permitted. Of course, I won't stop the attempts, but I do punish the transgressors." a goddess spoke with a stern voice.
Pef blinked. "Really?"
"Yes, my servant. Your own existence is proof of my words. More transgressors need to be punished, and you will be my instrument." Gaia replied in a somewhat warmer voice, but still cold and murderous.
"... Errr. Pretty sure you could have a piano fall on any such transgressor, most vengeful goddess." Pef murmured to himself.
"Indeed, I can and did. But, a piano or an anvil falling from clear sky is not the kind of punishment people fear. Bullets and nerve gas however...they do scare wrong doers. Fire and thunder. Plagues and floods. You know how it goes." Gaia said in a more relaxed tone.
"Famine, Pestilence, War. All resulting in Death. How biblical of you, goddess." Lise muttered with a deep frown and seeming displeased.
"Yes, well. All books have a tiny kernel of truth at their base. Especially religious books." Gaia said with a short laugh and vanished in wind.
Pef snorted at her words, and slapped him own face. The pain felt real enough.
"What?" Miya asked him with a curious tone.
"You heard Gaia. I have become death, her personal angel of judgement. Plus, all religions are confirmed pretty much lies. With a tiny, tiny bit that's still true." he said with a sigh.
Lise glared at him. "You knew that already, husband. You have met a few gods."
Pef grit his teeth and nodded. "Nearly got sacrificed by the priests of one. I've not forgotten, just never placed them in context."
"The White one. The Bastard without a father. He impregnated his own mother." Miya added in a cold, revengeful voice.
Pef nearly chocked at those words. "Umm. Pretty sure that story is metaphorical. Then again, we might meet him one day, and ask him."
Lucia sighed and glanced at the portal towards the next Floor.
"Revenge can wait, you two. Are we going further into the dungeon?"
Pef glanced at Miya. "Up to you my dear."
The Chinese girl bit her lips then flew into the portal. An hour passed in silence. Then another.
Soon enough, Miya respawned naked beside them. A small sacrifice, but it paid off to know the opponent in advance.
"Red dragon. Asian kind. Should be vulnerable to water and ice." she reported while going over her memories.
Pef and his wives nodded and flew into the next portal.
Dragons weren't that scary anymore.
A few minutes later, Pef regretted his bravery. Dragons were really scary.

Return of Chaos
For the longest time, it was thought that the citizens of Earth were the only denizens of the galaxy incapable of developing superhuman abilities — but recent events have flipped that assumption on its head. Between Austin Travis, Mote Emerson, Pierce Bradley, and their friends, Earth is now host to 12 Chaotics… as well as a myriad of mysteries surrounding them. From a new nemesis in the form of a clone, to connections to ancient technology from a long-lost civilization, to the ability to summon powerful legendary weapons, these 12 Chaotics have unknowingly become entangled in something larger than any of them have ever imagined. As if in response to these discoveries, the sinister machinations of galactic evil are churning. The metallic infection, a calamitous nanotechnology “disease” thought to have been vanquished 20 years ago, is slowly returning — and alongside it, a number of conflicts thought to be long past. While they only seek to better grasp their own abilities, Earth’s Chaotics will soon find themselves in the crossfire of returning threats and old heroes. These superpowered Earthians may not have chosen this path through life, but it will still be up to them to determine if history remembers them — to determine if history remembers the saga of the Keys. Return of Chaos is a direct sequel to Chosen Chaos, which begins the Key Saga novel series. Be sure to read Chosen Chaos first, to understand the plot and the characters thus far! Additionally, the Key Saga as a whole takes place 20 years after Rise. You will not need to read Rise to understand the events of Return of Chaos, however the latter will spoil many of the events that occurred in Rise, due to the simple chronology of taking place later in the timeline.
