Chapter 4: Demon

I sat alone in a room, reading through the manual. After I finished studying the first section, I rose from my chair, and sat down in the center of the room. I began circulating my energy flow in the manner documented in the manual. When I managed to make it circulate steadily, I rapidly shifted it, and began sharpening it. Immediately, I felt an intense pain in spread from my left shoulder outwards. That was how you trained the first stage of the ‘Way of the Chaos God’. Except, you had to do it a thousand times faster, which meant that you would tear all the muscles in your body.

I readied myself for the pain, and started once more, this time much faster. I closed my eyes once again, and began circulating my energy faster and faster until it felt like a hurricane was inside me. It felt like my body was lit ablaze from the inside, and simultaneously being torn apart, while drenched in acid. I could only hold on for a split second, before I stopped, and luckily so.

The room around me was a mess, the furniture was in splinters, and the walls torn down. Training in this manner apparently made the energy around me also go crazy. I tried to stand up, but couldn’t due to the intense pain and damage i did to my body. I laid still for a minute or two, waiting for my body to heal enough to walk. Then I walked over to Amelia, who was a few rooms next to me. I looked inside, only to see her completely silent, and in trance. Apparently, she hadn’t noticed my little incident.

I didn’t want to disturb her any further, so I exited the palace, and walked to the teleportation array. As I walked out of the teleportation building, I bumped into some kid. The kid looked at me, seemingly furious.

“What the hell, look where you’re going!” He yelled at me. I raised my eyebrows at the unexpected reaction. “Or you could look where you’re going, peasant” I barked back. The kid looked at me, exasperated.

“Hey, watch your attitude, or I’ll cripple you for life!” The kid replied, apparently not even knowing the monster standing in front of him. I almost couldn’t even hold back my laughter, as I grabbed him by the collar.

“You will cripple me?” I asked. Now the kid was slightly terrified, but to his luck, some elder arrived just then.

“Hey, what are you doing!? Put young master Pong down, immediately” the elder said. I eyed him funnily, then dropped the kid. “Good, now follow me so I can discipline you” the elder continued.

“What, why the hell should I follow you?” I said. The elder stopped in his tracks, then turned around. “What did you say? Tell me your name and rank, before I kill you!” He spat at me. Alright, now I had enough of him, so I slowly released my aura.

“You ask who I am? Very well, I shall tell you! My name is Isaac Coldblood, I am the newly recruited THIRD SUPREME ELDER!” I shouted at him, as I flicked my hand at him, causing him to fly in the opposite direction. His body crashed into a building, then another and another, until he stopped a good fifty meters away. My body flickered, and I appeared once again before him. All the bystanders near by quickly rushed over.

“He’s the new Supreme Elder?”

“That’s the new Supreme Elder I’ve heard about?”

“Holy shit, it’s the new Supreme Elder! He’s so fierce!”

I heard several people realize that I was the newly appointed third Supreme Elder. I turned my gaze to the elder from before as he looked back at me in terror. I grabbed his neck with my hand, then held him to eye level.

“If there is such a thing as the afterlife, maybe be a bit more careful about who you offend.” I said, as I crushed his neck severing it, and his head fell to the ground, alongside his body.

“Holy shit, he just killed a Saint Martial Elder with a single squeeze of his hand!” Someone announced. I looked around at the various disciples around.

“Well, this is as good a time as any. My name is Isaac Coldblood, and I’m the new third Supreme Elder. I directly became the third Elder, so you can probably guess my approximate power level. You won’t see me much the next ten years, since I’m going into closed door training, as I’ve yet to learn any techniques. That should do well enough for introductions. Oh, and one more thing.” I said, as I flared a bit of my power. “I do not take insults lightly.” I continued, then flickered away.

A single instant later, I appeared next to the Sect Master, Assiel. He wasn’t in the same room as before, but was now reading through some files.

“Hello there Isaac. It’s good to see you, but please knock next time” he said. I smiled, as I walked closer to him. “I now understand why so many people have died using this training method. Even using the first stage fully, would kill just about anyone and completely destroy their body. Even at half strength, it would be enough to kill most people. But that’s not why I’m here. Apparently it’s quite chaotic to train, as it completely destroyed the room I was in, so I’ll be going out somewhere, to train.” I said.

“Is that so? I must say, if that’s the case, I’m impressed. You say that it would destroy the body of most people, yet her you are, not a scratch on your body. That regenerative ability of yours must be quite something.” He marvelled. Having such an ability was the dream of all warriors, as if the lost a limb, it would never come back until they reached immortality. But then again, I was already immortal.

“Indeed, it is very powerful. I once had half my chest blown away, but I could still continued to battle afterwards. It’s saved my life more than once. Anyways, tell my wife that I’ll be gone for ten years, whenever she comes back out. Oh, and I killed some Saint rank Elder before i came here” I said, then left, before he could say anything.

Out of the Sect, I ventured deep into the wilderness. Eventually, I found a mountain range, where I carved myself a nice little cave, about a hundred meters deep. I made sure to completely seal off the cave, and place a few barriers around it, so that I wouldn’t be disturbed.

After I sat down, I began circulating my energy, in that unpredictable and rapid way. This time, I managed to hold out a few seconds longer, but i had to lie back down and heal once again. Then I tried again, for as long as I could hold.

Like that, I would switch between circulating for as long as I could, then resting until fully healed, which usually took a minute or more, while I could only train for a few seconds.

After every time, I could hold out a second or two longer, thus my training time grew longer and longer. Eventually, ten years passed. After sitting in the cave for ten years, without leaving once, I could now hold the first position for as long as I wanted without even feeling it. My strength had risen by huge amounts, as I had now reached the peak of rank S, or the peak of the Saint level.

But my body looked rather different than before. I had wrinkled up a bit, since I hadn’t drunk any blood in ten years. It was nowhere near like how it was after I got out of the Tomb of Palazar, after all, I was a lot older now, so I could last much longer. Now I basically looked like a middle aged person. As I stood back up, I felt all my bones shift into peace. I flexed my left arm out, which caused another new cave on the left wall. Then I flexed my right arm out, which made another new cave, on the right wall.

“I need to learn to control this strength before I go back.” I thought aloud. Then I punched casually at the front wall of my little cave, causing a hundred meter long tunnel to appear, showing me daylight once more. I flickered, and appeared outside the cave. Then I started punching at trees and rocks, trying to destroy them as lightly as possible, but sadly they were all pulverized. I continued to try and train my control, until the area around me had become barren. At that moment, some stranger appeared before me, with a curious look.

“What are you doing?” He asked. I looked at him, then at the devastation around me, then back at him. “Oh shit, I didn’t realized I caused such destruction. I just came out of a ten year closed door training, and my strength has increased drastically, so now I need better control.” I said. The stranger looked quite surprised.

“You increased that much in strength, in only ten years?” He asked. I nodded. “Before, I had the strength of a middle Mythical Saint, without ever training any techniques, since I come from a backwater continent, but now I joined the Sword Sect, and got their ‘Way of the Chaos God’. It’s very hard to train, and almost everyone that trains it dies, but due to my special properties, I can train it very well. Since it’s like that, I gained a lot of strength these ten years.” I explained. The stranger nodded.

“That sounds plausible, but you must be quite talented, to get access to that technique. I’ve heard of it before, though I don’t know the details. We don’t have it at our sect, after all. Anyways, if you need to better your control, I don’t mind sparring with you a bit, after all, we’re at the same level.” He said. A happy smile appeared on my face.

“Really? That would be great, but remember, I can’t hold back right now, and my physical strength is most likely much higher than your own, so be careful.” I said. The man nodded.

“Alright, I’ll remember.” He said, then got into a battle stance. Then I lashed at him, and struck my fist at him. The power of my fist caused him to fly back, crashing through several trees.

“Holy shit, you didn’t joke when you said you were strong!” He yelled. “Are you alright?!” I yelled back, quite surprised at my own strength. “I’m fine, I just need to be more careful. I can take a few more of those, so don’t worry.” He replied. I nodded in understanding, then rushed back at him. I launched a kick, which he managed to dodge, then he returned a punch to my face. The punch didn’t connect, so I punched back, only to meet a shadow. I quickly looked around, but then I felt his shin connect with my face, which made me stagger a bit back.

“Are you kidding me? That was a full power kick!” The stranger complained. I only chuckled at him, as I kicked back. Like that, we fought for a while, until I could control my strength better and better. Eventually, I felt like I had full control over my strength again, which is when I truly began to dominate him.

“You’re very strong. We’re both at the peak Mythical Saints, yet I don’t stand a chance against you. Amongst Mythical Saints, you’re probably invincible.” The stranger said, a bit downcast.

“Anyways, my name is Ley, and I’m from the Lin Sect. Our two sects have friendly relations, so we might meet again. But then again, most sects are on friendly relations with the Sword Sect, since you’re the powerhouse of this continent. And with you there, you’ll be even more formidable. You might become the third Legendary Saint of our continent.” Ley said, as he flew away. Well, at least there was still one thing he had on me. He could fly without the use of wings

(Pr - Rag: Isaac suddenly felt a small tear slide down his right cheek as he saw ley fly away. Check out Side Chapter for more info).

When you reached the SS, or Mythical Saint level, you would gain the ability to fly. Since I was technically only at the Saint level, I couldn’t fly without my wings. But if I used my wings, I could fly faster than any Mythical Saint, so there’s that.

Thus, I manifested my blood red wings, and flew back towards the Sword Sect. The flight was a short one, as I was flying quickly, and I didn’t go that far away in the first place. A while later, I soared above the Sword Sect, and set course for the Sect Master. People were surprised as they saw me fly inside the Palace. Luckily for me, I didn’t have to look for him, as he was in his ‘throne room’

“Isaac, you’re back. And since when did you have wings?” He asked, as I removed my wings. “It’s a special ability of my race.” I replied. “Your race? You’re not human? Well, most Demi-Gods aren’t. Oh, and I had no idea you were a Demi-God when you left. I feel like I hit it big with you!” The Sect Master said enthusiastically.

“Anyways, how did this closed door training session go? Oh, and your wife came out a while ago. She’s taking care of a mission, so you can’t see her yet.” Assiel said.

“It went well. I have mastered the first stage of it, and reached the peak of the Saint level, making me as strong as a Mythical Saint. Also, I sparred with some guy from the Lin Sect on the way here. He was at the same stage, a peak Mythical Saint, but after I got control of my strength, I could defeat him relatively easily. So I’m stronger than most Mythical Saints, due to my physical strength and speed, but I’m still not at the Legendary Saint level.” I reported. Assiel nodded in satisfaction.

“That’s very good, a lot more than I expected. That makes you one of the only two peak Mythical Saints. Therefore you shall be promoted to the second Supreme Elder. It sounds like you’re stronger than Supreme Elder Garmond, but unless you beat him, or surpass his rank, and break through to the Legendary Saint level, I can’t easily promote you.” He said.

“Don’t worry, it's fine. I won’t be here forever, so I won’t take his position.” I said. “Right, you said that. How long do you think you’ll stay with the Sect? Although, even when you leave, you’ll still be part of the Sect, so you should come back and visit from time to time.” He said, as if I was already leaving. I stared at the floor for a while, as I was thinking.

“Well, I left my entire family and friends back home, except my first wife, so I don’t want to stay away too long. I’ve already decided that I won’t stay away for more than a thousand years, no matter what. So I think I’ll spend between a hundred and two hundred years here. In that time I will support the Sword Sect, and help it when in need” I said. Assiel nodded again, in satisfaction.

“Good, good. But I actually have a mission for you. I told you before that you needed to gain my trust, and there’s a mission where I could really use you right now. You see, we are not very good friends with the Demon Sect, and we’re at the verge of war. The Demon Sect is a secretive group, and no one knows where they’re based, but we received a piece of news recently. We sent a group of Elite Disciples on a mission, to find and kill a group Demon Disciples. Our disciples should be stronger, but that’s not what worries me. The report we got is that one of the elite elders of the Demon Sect might be following them. Apparently one of his personal disciples is in the group.

I don’t really want you to join our disciples, just tail them from the shadows. In case that elder arrives, then I want you to interfere, although when you do, is up to you. Just make sure no one dies, or at least only a few casualties happen. Also, if it turns out our disciples are weaker than their disciple, try and save them.

Now, you should hurry and go, since they left a few days ago already. I saw you fly before, so I trust you’ll make it quickly. Here’s a map of where they’re supposed to ambush them, and their route.” He said, as he gave me a map.

“Alright, I won’t disappoint you.” I said as I turned around and left. “I’m sure you won’t.” Assiel said, after I had left. As I left the palace, some disciples looked at me in amazement, as they recognized me. Ten years ago, when I killed that foolish insect, a lot of people saw me, and you would never forget something like that, except if you yourself rose above even that.

I looked at the map, then flew in the direction it showed. It was quite far, so it took a long time, even at full speed. Only the next day, did I arrive at the meeting point. Indeed, the disciples were arriving at that very moment, as well. What a coincidence.

I flew to a mountain range close by, where I could observe them carefully. With my eyesight, I could even see their eye colours, even though I was several kilometres away. Thus, I waited for a few days, without anything happening. An ambush was a game of waiting. I didn’t know exactly when they were supposed to pass this place, just that it should be within the month, so all we could do was wait. It was quite boring, sitting alone up on the mountain, watching some youngsters.

Eventually though, on the fifteenth day, they finally arrived. In the distance, I saw Demon Disciples arriving. There was even an actual demon amongst them, but he wasn’t a High Demon like Carlahahn, the High Demon from the Tomb of Palazar.

I wasn’t sure whether our disciples had seen them yet, but it didn’t seem so, after all, I could see much farther than they could. Eventually though, it seemed like they noticed, and got themselves ready. They talked between themselves, then hid from sight. A few minutes later, they attacked. There were twelve disciples on our side, and eight on their side, so we outnumbered them.

They immediately managed to kill three Demon Disciples in the ambush, but after that, the remaining five reacted, and fought back. But they were greatly outnumbered, so the odds were largely in our favour. They fought fiercely, as they all had at least two opponents each. Two of our disciples were fighting one of theirs, until they both managed to pierce his body. But then, much to their surprise, his body disappeared in an after image. Suddenly, one of our disciple saw a sword in front of his eyes, as it had pierced through his throat.

He tried to scream, but his vocal cords had been cut, and he fell down lifeless. But at that moment, another disciple jumped in, to help, and managed to pierce through the shoulder of the Demon Disciple. Meanwhile, the real Demon was fighting against three disciples. He was wielding two swords, and was skilfully using them, to keep the three opponents at bay. In split second mistake, he managed to slash open the abdomen of one of the disciples, but at the cost of his arm. His arm fell to the ground, but he had one less opponent, as the other one fell to the ground as well. He wasn’t dead, but his abdomen was slashed open, and his internal organs were hanging out of it.

He laid on the floor, as he slowly bled out. Then all of a sudden, the fighting stopped, as a heavy aura fell upon everyone on the battlefield. A pale man, with long blood red hair appeared behind the demon man.

“You people dare to ambush my disciples group? Then you must be begging for death, right?” He said, as he was about to kill the wounded youngster, with his sword.

‘That’s my que, I guess.’ I thought, as my body flickered. In an instant, I appeared beside the Elder from the Demon Sect, and grabbed his wrist, stopping it before he killed the disciple.

“I would appreciate it if you didn’t kill my sect’s disciples.” I said calmly, and monotonously. The pale man looked at me in shock. “So fast!” He thought aloud. I let go of his arm, as he jumped backwards.

“Who are you?! I don’t recognise you, and I would know of someone that strong in the Sword Sect!” He yelled at me. “Calm you temper. I am Isaac Coldblood, second Supreme Elder of the Sword Sect.” I said. Now he was even more shocked, and began showing signs of fear.

“The second Supreme Elder? They sent the second Supreme Elder here? The new Supreme Elder?” I questioned. I nodded. “Yes, it’s a bit overkill if you ask me. But now that I’m here, I can’t let you leave alive, so prepare yourself.” I said, as I began slowly walking in his direction. He immediately turned around to run, since flying would be too slow, but just as he turned, I appeared before him again, and grabbed his neck. I put my other hand on the top of his head.

“I’ve seen demons before, but you certainly aren’t one. It’s weird that you call yourself the Demon Sect, when you’re not demons. Well, that kid over there is a Demon, but he accepted a human like you as his master? If a real demon found out, he would kill him, as well as you. But, since that’s not going to happen, you will have to deal with me.” I said, as I ripped his head off from his body. Then as his body fell to the floor, I moved over to the little Demon, and cut his head off, in one smooth motion.

Then, when the master and disciple duo were both headless, I raised a hand, and formed a few mana balls, and killed the rest of the Demon Disciples. Then I turned to look at the Sword Disciples.

“The mission is over, you can return now.” I said, before flickering away. A while later, I was finally back home at the Sect, only to find everything in turmoil. I quickly found a Martial Elder near me.

“What the hell is going on here?” I questioned. “The Sect Master was poisoned! The Masters of the Ping Sect and the Pong Sect came here, and challenged the Sect Master! While the Pong Sect Master was fighting our Sect Master, the Ping Sect Master sneakily poisoned Sect Master! They managed to heavily wound him, in his weakened state, before escaping. He is currently resting in the palace. I don’t know his current status, though.” He explained.

“How long ago was this?” I quickly questioned. “Four days ago!” He quickly replied. Then I hurried over to the palace, and found him. There were various healers and doctors outside his room. They looked at me questionably.

“Who are you? The Sect Master needs rest, and is not to be disturbed!” One of the doctors said. “I’m second Supreme Elder, Isaac. How is his current condition?” I said. They were surprised as they realized who had arrived.

“Second Supreme Elder? I heard you’re even stronger than first Supreme Elder, it’s an honour!” One of the guardians said. “His physical condition is stabilized, and he will heal with time, but the poison is another matter. It directly affects his energy and soul, and there is no cure. If we can’t do anything about it, he will eventually die, although I don’t know how long it will take. Until that time, he will grow weaker and weaker.” He explained. I thought for a while, about what he said, while everyone looked at me impatiently.

“Take me to him. I might be able to do something.” I said. The doctors looked doubtful, but took me to him none the less. Inside, I saw the Sect Master, unconscious. He had paled a lot, and looked a lot weaker than the magnificent being I saw before. I walked up to him, and placed my hand above his chest.

Then I used Energy Manipulation Magic on him. I had managed to get it to the second stage, as well as becoming a Sage, so the magic had even more uses now. I could probe into people, and inspect their energy, and manipulate it. Inside, I looked around for a while, until I finally found the most concentrated point of poison. It was spreading onto his energy pool and was slowly making it leak out, he would die. But there was a problem. The core of the poison was connected to his soul. If I forcefully removed it, his soul would break, resulting in his death, and if there was an afterlife, he wouldn’t even go there.

For now, I sealed the poison core, so that it could do nothing, then I removed all the poison from his energy veins, until there was nothing left. Finally, I opened my eyes, and looked at everyone present.

“It’s done. The poison has been completely removed from his energy veins, but there was one problem. The poison core is located in his soul, so if I remove it, he dies. The only thing I could do, was seal it away. The poison won’t harm him, but he can never remove it, except if he becomes an Immortal. But he won’t wake up yet. His soul was damaged, and now it needs to heal. Before it is fully healed, he won’t wake up. It might take a years, or even decades.” I said. I everyone looked at me with shock, before they all bowed to me.

“Thank you Supreme Elder, for saving the Sect Master!” They all exclaimed. “It’s nothing, for now we have worse matters on our hand. This move was clearly for the sake of weakening us, so we need to prepare. We’ll most likely be attacked by the enemy very soon.” I said, and as on cue, and explosion sounded. Without wasting a second, I sped outside, only to see chaos. We were being attacked from all sides, by thousands of fighters. It seemed like we were being attacked by several sects, not only the Ping and Pong Sects. Immediately I looked around, to find the strongest from our side. On top of one of the mountain peaks, I saw four persons, three males, and one woman. With a flicker of my body, I appeared on the same mountain. The four looked at me.

“Second Supreme Elder, you’re back. Good timing.” The female of the group said. “I’m Nana, the third Supreme Elder.” She said. I nodded in response. “I saw the Sect Master just now. He was afflicted with a soul and energy poison. I managed to seal it away, and remove all the loose poison, but I can’t remove it from his soul, so all I could do, was seal it away. He will still be unconscious until his soul is healed again, which might be years, or even decades.” I said. They were also surprised that I healed him.

“You managed to heal him!” One of the Supreme Elders said. “Yes, but that’s not much use for us now.” I replied. The Elders all nodded. “For now we need to take care of this coming calamity.” Nana said. “Well, we still might make it through. The only Legendary Saints in our continent, belonging to a sect, was our Sect Master and the the Demon Master, so they only have peak Mythical Saints.” One of the Supreme Elders said. “Isaac and Garmond are both peak Mythical Saints as well.”

“Indeed. With my strength, I should be invincible in the Mythical Saint level. As long as they don’t have any Legendary Saints, I can take care of them.” I said, which once more caused some surprise. “It’s true. I sparred with Elder Ley, from the Lin Sect. He’s a peak Mythical Saint as well, and I was much stronger than him.” I said.

“You fought Ley?” Garmond asked, seemingly impressed. “Indeed. But enough talking, our disciples are dying. Let’s put a stop to this!” I said. The others all nodded, as we flickered down, right into the center of the conflict. As we appeared, with our auras hammering everyone weaker down, the fighting stopped.

“You dare attack our Sword Sect, and still expect to live!” Garmond roared at everyone. Immediately, several new figures appeared, some behind us, some facing us. The ones who were opposite us, outnumbered us quite a bit, even after the other Martial Elders arrived.

Out of the group of enemies, five mean appeared. “We are the Sect Masters of the, Ping, Pong, Gale, Long and Balance Sects! If you surrender, we shall allow you to live, at the cost of Assiel’s life!” One of them said. I looked towards Garmond.

“Garmond, you take one of them, I’ll take the rest. You need to hurry and kill him, then join me. I may be strong, but I’m not sure I can take four peak Mythical Saints. You others, keep everyone away from us, so they don’t sneak attack. I won’t have time to be careful of the weak ones.” I said, as I started walking towards the Sect Masters.

“How pitiful it is that you four Sect Master will have to gang up on me, one Supreme Elder, yet still lose. Just shows how much below us you are.” I said, as I walked towards them. They were visibly taunted by my words, as all five of them prepared to attack me, but before they could, Garmond took the attention of one of them. While they were still off guard, I gave them a full power kick, before I unsheathed my sword. The kick made one of them fly back, straight into the walls. The Sect Masters looked at me.

“Strong!” They said, but they quickly calmed, and attacked again, this time, more carefully. I swiped my sword at them, but they dodged, then attacked back. They couldn’t hit me though, while they were near misses most of the time.

“You call yourselves Sect Masters?” I taunted with a smirk. One of them got annoyed, and charged at me. I dodged his attack, and swiped my sword at him, but just when he was about to block, I changed to a kick, which directly connected on his neck. He went flying, but I wasn’t finished. I charged up to him, and swiped my sword right at him. He managed to see the sword coming, and shifted his body to the side, so that I only hit his side. The man hit the ground then quickly got up, and staggered back.

“Who are you!?” They shouted at me. “Me? I’m Isaac, the second Supreme Elder, the strongest of the Five Supreme Elders. If you want to beat me at the Mythical Saint level, dream on!” I said, as I charged at them again. I slashed my sword at the same wounded Sect Master, and at that moment, the fifth Sect Master died, by the hands of Garmond. Garmond didn’t rest for a single moment, and quickly charged over to my side, at the exact moment that my sword connected with the flesh of the Sect Master. The Sect Master managed to rush away from there, before I disconnected his head, but not without a big wound on his torso.

The four remaining Sect Masters looked at us in fear. If there were four Sect Masters, they realized they might be able to beat me, at the cost of one or two lives, but if they only were three, then they didn’t stand a chance.

“RETREAT!!!” They shouted, so that everyone could hear, just before they all fled, tails between their legs. We didn’t bother chasing them, since they were using a special escaping method.

“Well, that’s that.” I said. Garmond, the first Supreme Elder looked at me. “No, I’m afraid this is only the beginning. I’m afraid they might have been instigated by the Demon Sect. Other than our own Sect, they are the only other Sect to possess a Legendary Saint, at the same level as our Sect Master. If they attack, I’m afraid there’s not much we can do.” He explained. As we watched the enemy Sects flee, I could feel the tension in the air.
