Chapter 13: Family

The next day everyone gathered in our new meeting room. The meeting room was a large room with a long table, surrounded by chairs. I sat at the end of the table, while the rest of the vampires sat around it. Behind me was Alicia. She didn’t get a seat. Normally she wouldn’t be at our conferences, but I wanted to tell everyone about her new status.

“Did everyone have a good rest? Well, the castle has finally been finished. Now we won’t have to worry about the city guard anymore. But I speculate that our Coldblood family will become a bit mysterious now. No all of a sudden disappear from the city, and now no one will know where our base is. Anyways, as you know we will be the Coldblood branch of the Shadowblade Assassin Organization. Valen Shadowblade told me that he would send a few assassins to start us up, but the promised time isn’t until another year.

You remember Alicia right? The girl standing behind me. Four years ago I started experimenting with my blood on her, to see the effects and limits of a ghoul. The results are that giving her blood every week is best at first, then later every three to four weeks is enough. Even though she shouldn’t be aging it seems that her body has developed anyways. She was sixteen when the experiments started, but she seems to have matured to an eighteen year old. It’s most likely that even if you’re fed vampire blood you still age to certain point. This might also be the same for vampire children. I doubt that a newborn vampire will never age.

One more thing about Alicia, is that I took as a concubine. She is no longer a slave and is to be given new better clothes.

Now, the next goal on out agenda. Some of you might know that I have a family. Another family than you guys. Their still human and live on a farm. The place where I grew up. I am going to get them. I have two parents and two siblings. I have decided to take Amelia, Serana and Kato with me. The rest of you will stay here. Any questions?” I said. Everyone was silent as they listened to my speech.

“It’s been around eight years since you left your family now, right? They have probably got families of their own now. Are you going to take them with you too?” Bogat asked.

“Yes, I suppose so. I’m don’t want to separate them from their families, so I will take them with me too I guess. I just don’t hope that they will choose to stay back. It won’t be fun to take them against their will.” I said.

“There is one more thing. A few years ago I told you that you were to make your own vampires when the castle is finished. While I’m gone, that will be your task. Go choose someone from the village that you like, and make them into vampires. Only one per person.” I said. With that the meeting was over. Immediately after we prepared to leave. We rode the Night Wolves. Even though it took a few months to get here on the caravan it wouldn’t take nearly as much time when we travelled alone. If we were to go on foot it would be even quicker since we had gotten faster that the Night wolves. Except for Kato. But even though Kato wasn’t as physically strong as fast as we, he was still the most dangerous vampire under me, because of magic.

We travelled for a few weeks until we arrived close to the forest where I was reborn. We stopped for a while, and I told Kato and Serana about the place. We also visited the desolate village ruins. There were burned buildings all around and even some old dried bloodstains. It was not a place for people light of heart. After reminiscing for a while, we continued. We weren’t far away now, so we took it nice and easy. After a few hours we appeared at the outskirts of the farm. We had the wolves wait a distance away. I didn’t want to scare them. I could see my father and brother working in the distance. They were accompanied by a young boy. Around six or seven years old. It seemed like my brother had finally gotten himself a family.

We started walking towards the house. Inside the house I saw the back of a woman. It was my mother. She had aged a bit, but I still knew the moment I saw her. She was making food. She hadn’t noticed me, but there was another woman there. She seemed to be in her late twenties. She looked at us confused. We were wearing expensive clothes, so it was clear to her that we were rich.

“Who are you my lords?” The woman asked. My mother heard her and turned around to see who was there. She was surprised, since she hadn’t heard anyone enter the house. The moment she saw me she froze.

“Hello mother. I’m back.” I said. At that moment, my mother fell to her knees. The woman was also surprised and confused.

“I-I-I-Isaac? Is that you? Is that you?! Is it really you?!” She asked. Tears were swelling up in her eyes. I looked at her apathetically.

“It’s me. I’m finally back, after almost ten years. I’m alive and well.” I said. I walked over to her and helped her sit on a chair. The young woman was just staring at me confused. And around twenty years old man had come, and he was her mother in law’s son? This was very weird to her. And he had been gone for ten years? Then he would have been only ten when he left.

“Isaac, is it really you? How come you still look the same? You haven’t changed a single bit. You look just like that day you disappeared. How is that possible?” She asked.

“It’s simple. I just don’t age anymore. I became a vampire you see. And I have come back to make all of you into vampires as well and bring you to my castle.” I told her. Mother had a look of understanding. She wasn’t scared and didn’t doubt me. She also didn’t think it was possible for me to a fake. A mother’s intuition I guess. But it was different for the young woman. She started shaking. She didn’t quite believe that I was a vampire. She thought that I was a madman and was going to kill them all. She started running, but before she could get away I looked her in the eyes.

“Come here.” I said. She stopped in her tracks and walked to me and sat down on a chair next to me. Mother looked at me in amazement, and the woman also looked at me in amazement. She had no idea why she had done as I said.

“You don’t need to be afraid. I won’t hurt you. I am only going to make you a vampire and give you eternal life. Now tell me mother, who is this woman?” I asked. The woman seemed to believe me now. It was common knowledge that humans couldn’t do hypnosis like that. They had to use special tools. Just looking in the eyes wasn’t enough. Only extremely rare and powerful beings could do this. Like the ones made by the Gods. The girl stood up. She had heard about Isaac disappearing almost ten years ago, but hadn’t thought about him before, since he would be only one year younger than herself. Even though his mother said Isaac all the time, it just went through her head.

“Brother in law, I am the wife of your brother, Marcus. My name is Felicia. We married about seven years ago and have a son and a daughter together.” She said and bowed. Then mother spoke up.

“Who are these people dear?” She asked. I looked at my companions with a smile.

“Those two girls are my wives, and the man over there is like my brother I guess. They’re all vampires that I made, so they are a bit older than they look.” I said. The two women looked at them in astonishment. Those ridiculously beautiful ladies were his wives? He had two wives?

“Oh my, you have done very well for yourself. What about the one who made you into a vampire? Is he around?” Mother asked.

“Him? I was made into a vampire by my Dread Father as I call him. It’s the God of Death, Gebados.” I told them. Once again their eyes widened.

“I am the first vampire you see. There are only a handful of vampire in existence, and they were all made by me. But where’s sister? I don’t see her around. I saw father and brother as well as a little boy outside though.” I said. At this moment my mother’s and Felicia’s eyes darkened. Something was wrong.

“Isaac, not so long ago the Lord Commander came by here. They didn’t stop for long. In fact they hadn’t intended to stop at all, but the Lord Commander saw your sister. She has grown into a very beautiful girl, so he was interested in her. So he took her with him. As a concubine I think. We couldn’t do anything about it.” Mother said. A flash of anger appeared in my eyes, but I quickly calmed down. It was only the Lord Commander. I should be able to get her back.

“Don’t worry, I’ll take her back.” I said calmly. When they heard fear appeared in them.

“No! Isaac you mustn’t anger the Lord Commander! He’ll execute you!” Mother said. When she said that I couldn’t hold back my laughter.

“Hahahaha! He’ll execute me? Mother you don’t know this, but I’m the strongest person in the Fenlai Prefecture. And I also have much more influence in the Kalderon Kingdom than that silly Lord Commander. It wouldn’t be impossible for me to have him abdicated. I just have to tell him who I am, then I’m sure he’ll give me my sister. Now, Felicia go get my father and brother. And also bring those kids of yours. We’re leaving this place.” I said. The fear in the two women seemed to calm down, and Felicia nodded, then ran out. A moment later I heard voices outside.

“What is that is so important that we have to come running here?”

Two men walked inside, behind them was Felicia, holding a sleepy toddler, and a little boy. The moment that the two men saw who was sitting in front of them they froze. The younger one of the men slowly walked up to me. He examined my face then after a moment,

“Brother! It’s really you Isaac! What the hell happened to you?! Who have been gone for almost a decade, then you just come back, not even changed a little bit?! You look exactly like you did when you disappeared, except for those fancy clothes?!” He shouted in my face.

“Relax Marcus. You see, the thing is, I am not a human anymore so I had to leave for a while.” I said.

“Not a human? What the hell are you talking about?” He asked. At this moment mother stepped in.

“He’s a vampire. Like the one from the legends. He’s immortal, that’s why he doesn’t age. It’s true, I saw him hypnotize Felicia with but a look from his eyes!” She said. Marcus looked a bit sceptic, but father had finally unfrozen.

“Well, that does explain it.” Father said.

“Well, it’s the truth, whether you like it or not, and you’re going to become vampires too, whether you like it or not.” I said, my voice slightly cold, making the mortals present shiver.

“We’re leaving for my castle immediately. When we’re there, I’ll make you into vampires.” I said.

“Your castle? You have a castle?” Marcus asked.

“Yes. Its construction just finished recently. It’s quite marvelous, and it cost a huge sum of gold.” I said, as I left the house. Soon after Iluvatar and Bane arrived before us. They caused quite a bit of fear in my family, but I managed to calm them down. We managed to fit all of us on the wolves, then we left. We didn’t travel too quickly, because if we did, then it would be dangerous for my family.

While we were travelling I told them a bit about the other vampires, and our organization.

“Back when I married Amelia and Serana, four years ago, I changed my name to Isaac Coldblood. You are also going to have that name. In fact all of my vampires have that name, except for Lilia. She is Kato’s girlfriend. She wants to wait until they get married to share the name. But anyways, I became the heir of the Coldblood family, but in reality I’m already the leader. We’re also joining an organization of assassins called the Shadowblades. I’m going to be the leader of the Fenlai branch.” I told them.

“Assassins? Isn’t that a bit bad? Won’t you have to kill people and stuff?” Marcus asked. He was a bit naïve.

“I have already kill countless people. I was the one that exterminated that village back when I disappeared. I also killed the squadron that was sent to deal with it. I also exterminated an entire family that had killed Serana’s mother. All of us are cold killers. It’s very fitting to our name. And when I turn you, you will have to kill two innocent slaves as well. You will have to regularly drink blood.” I told him. Marcus seemed a bit abhorred.

“What? I won’t kill anyone! And why would you kill so many innocent people?! You used to be so kind.” He said. I looked at him with a fierce look.

“Trust me, you will kill people. You won’t be able to stop yourself. And much like you have to drain two people dry of their blood, I had to drain an entire village. I lost control of myself and killed almost everyone there. The only survivor is Amelia. And Amelia loves me, so you have no right to be angry at me for that.” I said. He had angered me a little bit. My parents looked a bit shocked.

“Will we really have to kill people?” Marcus asked again.

“Yes.” I said. Marcus hesitated a bit, then said,

“Then I won’t come with you. Please let me off here.” I looked at him disappointed.

“No. This isn’t a choice I am giving you. I am going to make you into vampires, and you don’t have a say in it.” I said calmly. This was exactly what I had feared.

“What?! You can’t force us! I won’t let you make my family kill anyone! You’re sick! And that wench of yours is just as sick!” He yelled at me. Suddenly the wolves stopped and I got off of them. I grabbed Marcus by the shoulder and threw him off. Then I walked over to him, placed my foot on his shoulder. I started pressing down, until his shoulder shattered into pieces. He let out a horrifying scream. Then I took out my sword and swiped at his legs. The legs flew off. Felicia screamed as she saw it.

“If you want your legs and arm back, then you have to become a vampire.” I said. Then I formed a flame in my hand and cauterized his wounds, then threw him back up on the wolf, all while he was screaming in pain. I got back on my wolf.

“I am not the same person as I was back then. If you insult my wife I won’t respond kindly. I won’t kill you, since you’re my family, but I will beat you to an inch of death.” I said. Then the journey resumed. There weren’t many words spoken after that event. After a few weeks, we arrived back at the castle. Everyone looked in awe as they saw the magnificent sight.

“This is your castle? It’s huge!” Father said. I nodded in reply. When we got back in the castle I ordered for fourteen slaves to be brought. We went into a private room.

“I’m going to make you into vampires now.” I said. The first person I grabbed was Marcus.

“Don’t worry Marcus. It won’t hurt. And your legs will grow back as well. Vampires have an amazing recovery ability. Any decapitated limbs will grow back.” I said. Then I bit him in the throat. Soon after he was unconscious.

“Is he alright?” Mother asked.

“Yes, don’t worry. After the bite, you’ll be unconscious for an hour or so, then you wake up as a vampire.” I said. Then I grabbed mother. A moment later she was unconscious too. Then father. Then I walked to the little boy, who was coincidentally also called Isaac, after his uncle.

“Don’t worry little Isaac. It won’t hurt at all, in fact it will feel really good. Then when you wake up again you will be very strong. Even stronger that your dad used to be. I think. Now give me your hand.” I said. The boy reluctantly gave me his hand. I proceeded to bite into his wrist. The reason I didn’t wait a few years to turn him, was because it was a good experiment. I wanted to know whether or not he would grow up into an adult. When I was finished I turned to Felicia.

“Felicia, I won’t make your daughter into a vampire. She is too young. I’m not even sure if little Isaac will ever grow up, but I’m not willing to try it on little Sara. When she grown older, you can turn her yourself.” I said. Then I walked up to her. Amelia took the baby from her, then I sank my teeth into her throat. A moment later fourteen slave girls entered the room.

“Good you’re here. These people on the floor are the family I was born into. I have just turned them into vampires. As you know, a vampire will need a large amount of blood when born, so they are going to drain all of you of their blood. But I also spent a lot of blood essence on them, so I need two of you as well. Any volunteers?” I said. No girl volunteered, so I just choose two at random.

Almost an hour later, the first vampire woke up. Weirdly enough it was little Isaac.

“So you’re the first one to wake up? Alright, little Isaac, what you need to do now is choose two girls from there and drink all the blood in their bodies.” I said. The boy looked at me confused.

“How should I do that uncle?” He asked. I smiled at him. He didn’t say no to do it, instead he asked how. I this this is the beauty of a child’s innocence. He can’t see wrong from right yet. I told one of the girls to go bring another slave girl here, then I demonstrated how to drink blood. I was still a bit thirsty anyways. I would probably go into hibernation after this. After all I just made six pureblood vampires. That would have a few consequences. But as I drank the girl’s blood I could feel that the fatigue grew smaller. If I drank a lot of blood, then I would probably have a shorter hibernation period. After I showed little Isaac how to do it, he quickly choose a girl. The girl kneeled in front of him. She actually looked a bit excited. There was a cute little boy going to drink her blood. The slaves didn’t fear death by feeding, since it wasn’t painful, and actually very pleasurable. But they still preferred to live.

“It’s alright little boy, just drink all the blood in my body.” The slave girl said in a cute voice. It even made me smile.

Little Isaac also smiled a big smile, then bit into her throat. Soon she was dead. When he was finished all the girls threw themselves at him, saying things like “please choose me!” They knew that they were going to die, so they all wanted to die by the cute little boy.

Little Isaac choose the prettiest of the girls then drained her dry. I looked at him. I was proud.

“Good job little Isaac. I’m proud of you. I’m sure that if your father wasn’t such a weirdo that thinks killing is bad, then he would be even more proud. Listen to me, little Isaac. Even though your father says killing is bad, it isn’t true. It is fine for us vampires to kill. Just do it discreetly. Whenever you feed on someone outside the castles boundaries, always make sure to get rid of the evidence. But for now that doesn’t matter, because you won’t be allowed out of the castle territory until you’re older, okay? And if you want to go to the village make sure to tell me or your aunts first.” I told him. I had decided to groom him into someone who didn’t view killing as bad, just like me. I would keep him away from his father as much as possible until he sees the light. Or in this case the darkness I guess.

“I understand Uncle Isaac. Little Isaac won’t run away, and little Isaac doesn’t think killing is bad.” He said in his cute voice, while nodding.

“Good.” I said, while petting his head. Then I walked over to little Sara.

“The same is true for you little Sara. Killing is fine. Don’t listen to your father when he says not to kill. He’s just a bit confused, I’m sure he will see the light one day. If anyone ever annoys you Sara, then make sure to tell, so that I can kill them for you. But you’re still human, so you should go down to the village often to find friends to play with.” I said to her.

“Okay! Little Sara will go play in village and little Sara will tell uncle if they bully little Sara!” She said in an even cuter voice. The slave girls were all looking at the cute little girl and cute little boy.

“You’re all going to die soon, so if you want to play with the kids go ahead.” I said. Then the girls rushed over to the kids. After being made into a vampire little Isaac looked even cuter. If he grew his hair he could masquerade as a girl.

Soon after, Marcus woke up. He looked at his body. His legs had grown back and he could move his arm again. He was shocked. He had been told that he would regenerate, but it hadn’t quite hit him until now.

“Marcus, you’re awake. Good. Now feed on two of these girls.” I said, this time with a kind voice. Marcus looked annoyed.

“Like hell I will.” He responded. I frowned.

“Suit yourself. You’ll just have to go through the hell of hunger. Sooner or later you won’t even be able to stop yourself.” I said. Then I looked at him once more.

“Until you embrace your vampirism you won’t be able to see your kids. I won’t allow your naivety fall upon them. And it’s too dangerous to have Sara around you when you’re hungry. The hunger will make you go insane and you might accidentally kill and feed on her.” I told him. Marcus despaired. His kids were the most important in the world to him.

“Fine, I get that I would be too dangerous when I’m hungry, I don’t doubt that. Since their human, but what about when I have fed. You say that I won’t be able to control myself, so when the hunger becomes too much I will probably end up feeding on someone. After that I should be sane again right? Why can’t I see them then?” He asked. I was about to answer, but was interrupted.

“Father I’m not human. I’m a vampire too, only sister is human. And Uncle Isaac said that I shouldn’t see you until you see the light or something.” Little Isaac said. Marcus looked at him, then noticed the corpses in the room.

“You already killed them? But you’re just a child, how could you do that? Damn you Isaac, you made him do this!” He said. I glared at him with my haunting eyes, causing him to shiver in fear.

“Shut your mouth! It would be bad for him not to feed. We’re vampires. It’s fine for us to kill. It’s the same as killing animals. It’s for the food. They are animals. Slaves tell him!” I yelled at him. The slaves responded.

“We are here to serve as your food. We don’t mind being killed by a vampires bite. It’s such a pleasurable way to die.” The slaves said. They had been brainwashed by the slave marks, so they could barely even be called human anymore, since they didn’t have free will.

“Marcus, I could use the power of our blood bond to make you drink, but I won’t. I will not force you to drink. I will wait until you do it either out of free will, or insanity. I won’t force you. Little Isaac did it out of free will, because he knows that there is nothing wrong with it.” I said. Then we waited for the next one to wake. The slave girls kept playing with the kids, while Marcus sat in silence. Soon it was my mother’s turn to wake up.

“Uh, where am I? Oh, right...” she said, tired.

“Mother. You’re now a vampire. Go choose two girls from there to feed on.” I said. Mother looked at me hesitantly. She didn’t seem to want to.

“Do I have to Isaac?” She asked.

“It’s better if you do it now, or you will have to face the hunger, like Marcus. It will be very painful and will take your sanity away.” I said. She continued to hesitate. I turned to the slave girls and picked out two.

“You two, go tell my mother that it’s fine to feed on you.” I said. The slaves walked over to mother.

“Mistress, please don’t be shy. We don’t mind, it’s okay. Just drink our blood. We won’t get hurt. It will actually feel very good. It’s a very pleasurable way to die.” The girls said kindly. Mother was still hesitating, but after talking with the girls for a while she finally decided to do it. While she was drinking the blood, father woke up. He was surprised to see mother.

“Sylvia, you’re already drinking. Well, if she already accepted it, who am I to be choosy.” He said. He looked towards me.

“Father, you need to choose two girls from this group to feed on.” I said. Father rose, then walked to the girls. He looked at all of them, but was surprised to see all the girls smiling at him. They weren’t afraid at all. He reluctantly chose two girls, then drained them dry, much to their pleasure. Now only Felicia was left. She woke up soon after.

“Felicia, you’re awake. Don’t do like your husband and follow your sons example instead. Little Isaac was the first to wake up, and also the quickest to feed. All the slave girls threw themselves at him. He’s quite popular. The four remaining girls are all playing with him, see?” I said.

“Is that so? I guess I have to give a good example as a mother then.” She said. I then turned to the slaves.

“Do any of you volunteer to be little Isaac’s mother’s food?” I asked. The girls seemed to like the idea of being the little cuties mother’s food. If they couldn’t be eaten by him, then his mother would have to do. All the girls ran over to Felicia.

“It seems you’re popular. Well, you’re almost as beautiful as Amelia and Serana, so we can’t blame them” I said. Felicia chose two girls, who died soon after. Now there were only two girls left, but Marcus didn’t want them.

“Alright you two, it seems like you get to live. As a reward, you two will now be in charge of helping Felicia take care of the kids. Follow her orders.” I said. The girls were very happy. If they had such a role, they would probably be safe from now on, and they also got to play with those two cuties in the future.

“Kato, you go take Marcus with you and imprison him somewhere. His hunger will grow quickly. When he’s gotten completely insane, only then can you throw a few slaves to him.” I said. Kato ordered and grabbed Marcus. Marcus tried to fight back, but Kato was far stronger than him, so didn’t stand a chance. Then Felicia looked to me.

“Do you have to imprison him?” She asked.

“Yes. It’s too dangerous to let him loose. Especially now, just after he was made. And he will not be allowed to meet his children until he embraces his nature. If you try and sneak them to him, then I will kill you in front of him, understand? He’s a bad influence to them, and as long as he doesn’t feed regularly it is too dangerous to have Sara around him. He might accidentally kill her.” I said. I was very serious about this matter. If she really did try to let him see them, I would kill her.

“He would never hurt them!” She yelled back. As a response I slapped her right across the cheek, making her fall to the floor.

“Don’t raise your voice against me. And he would. The hunger will drive him insane for blood. Even his own human daughter would be a meal at that time.” I said. Felicia stood up again, but lowered her head.

“Fine.” She said. I nodded in response.

“Alright everyone, let’s go meet the rest.” I said, and left the room. Soon everyone was gathered together.

“We’re back and I have turned all of them into vampires. But my brother and sister aren’t present at the moment. My brother refused to feed, so he is kept in confinement, and my sister was taken as a concubine by the Lord Commander, so I will have to go meet him in a while. I want all of you to chat for a while. As for me, I’m pretty tired now, as you can probably imagine, since I just made six pureblooded vampires. I will have to meet your own vampire protégés later. Amelia, Serana and Kato still haven’t made any yet, after all. See you later (gasp). Oh and send ten or twenty slaves to my room. I’m going to see if it will reduce my sleeping time…” I said, then left tiredly.

Third person perspective.

Sylvia was looking at her son as he left. She turned to look at Amelia.

“Hey, Amelia why is he going to sleep now?” She asked. Amelia looked back, then smiled. Sylvia didn’t know just how much energy he had spent to make them.

“When we make vampires we have to use our blood essence. Making pureblood vampires takes a lot more blood essence than normal vampire, and he is the only one that can make them with the embrace. He just made six pureblooded vampires, so he will have to enter hibernation for a time, but he is going to drain ten to twenty slaves to see if it reduces the sleeping time.” Amelia kindly explained. Sylvia was shocked. Ten to twenty slaves? That was a huge number, wasn’t it?

“He’s going to kill all of them?” She asked scared.

“I don’t know. He’s going to kill as many as he thinks he needs, I guess.” Amelia answered. The group spent the rest of the evening getting to know the newcomers. And these newcomers tried not to think about the slaughter being commenced in this very castle.

In Isaac’s room there were ten corpses on the floor. Every one of these corpses were awfully pale. There wasn’t a single drop of blood in them. Isaac looked at the remaining girls, who didn’t look very afraid, but still had a tinge of fear on their faces.

“Thank you for the meal. Now please clean up in here. I’m going to sleep.” He said. Isaac tucked himself in bed, while the slaves started dragging the corpses out of the room. Soon there was not a single corpse in the room. Just on slave girl entered the room again.

“Master, should I turn of the lights?” She asked. She waited, but never received an answer. Walking over to Isaac, she saw that he was asleep. In a very deep sleep. He didn’t even breathe, there was no heartbeat. But she didn’t fret. For she knew that nothing was wrong, that their Master would sometimes sleep a sleep so deep, that he wouldn’t wake up for who knows how long. During the last time such a period appeared, this girl had often taken care of him, so she knew what to do. She turned off the lights, left the room, and informed the guards to guard his room, for he had entered hibernation.
