Alright chapter 4 is out. I spent quite a bit of time on this one. I quite like it.

Beware! There is a graphic SEX scene in this chapter. It's quite light hearted though. Tell me what you think, should I include more graphic sex scenes or should I keep it a bit more behind the scenes?

Chapter 4: Learning From Mistakes

We had been in our forest hut for 2 years now. I was 21 years old now. These years we had rarely gone out of the forest. We only went out to kidnap some villagers from time to time. But these years hadn’t gone to waste. Both Amelia and I had spent them learning magic. I was now quite capable of using frost magic, and could also use some fire magic. I had also had great results in darkness magic. Amelia wasn’t as good at darkness and frost magic as I, but they were still her main elements.

These days I had been thinking a lot about my parents and siblings. I hadn’t seen them for two years after all, so I couldn’t help but be a bit worried. After all I was the only one that could hunt, so they probably didn’t get much meat anymore. And they probably thought I had died. But I had decided that it was too early to go and visit them. I wanted to make them into vampires, but I also wanted a proper standing in the world first. But I would still think about them from time to time.

3rd person, Fenlai City.

Charles Fenlai, the Lord Commander of Fenlai prefecture, was sitting in his office, brooding. About two years ago, in a period of few weeks, after that E rank squadron had gone missing, numerous corpses had been found in a few small farms and houses along the road following the forest there. He hadn’t thought too much about, until he discovered that several corpses of the missing squadron had been drained of blood. That’s because the peculiar thing about the corpses in the small farms, were also drained of blood. Originally he didn’t make the connection, but he soon discovered that both the farmers and soldiers were most likely killed by the same being.

He sent investigators to see if they could find a lead. The investigators checked every farm and secluded house, but soon discovered that the killings just stopped. The last family that had been killed lived in the middle of nowhere. The investigators went back to Fenlai city and reported their findings. The Lord Commander decided, that they either just stopped killing, or had settled down somewhere nearby.

He didn’t really want to spend the manpower to find them, except if another massacre occurred, because it had been quite expensive to send out his elite knights for them to only return emptyhanded. Thus he decided to wait to see if the King wanted him to do anything. But he never even got a reply from the King. Thus this matter went into the back of his mind.

About two years later, he was once again sitting in his office. This time he was reading a pile of reports. One particular report caught his mind. The report said that a lot of villagers had been disappearing from the villages around some forest. This particular location sounded familiar to him. He sat, pondering about, until suddenly he realized. This was the place where those farm killings occurred.

Now he was almost certain. The monster that massacred that village and that E rank squadron, was most likely the same monster that killed all those farmers and kidnapped those villagers. Therefore he decided to finally send someone to investigate and slay the beast or cult, for now he was almost certain that they stayed in the forest that was close to all those locations.

Thus a group of eight B rank knights departed for a certain forest.

Isaac 1st person perspective

These two years not only our magic had improved, our strength had also increased. I had now reached the peak of rank C, while Amelia had already entered into the early stage or rank C. One day I was out hunting animals, for their meat. As vampires we didn’t need to eat normal food, but we still could eat it, so once in a while we would enjoy some savoury meat. Amelia had gotten very good at cooking too. We also had our captives. They needed food so that they wouldn’t die. Even though I didn’t really care about them, I still didn’t want them to die early. But alas they still died rather quickly. The environment they lived, wasn’t somewhere any could live. It was cold, damp and dark in the underground prison. We also often forgot to feed them, as if they were some pet we didn’t care about.

As I was running through the forest I heard a noise. I immediately stopped in my tracks and look around. I saw a big burly man standing a hundred meters away from me. What is human doing here, I thought. But anyways, he had seen me here so I couldn’t let him live. I didn’t want him to spread rumours that someone was living here. I immediately rushed in front of him. He seemed surprised by my speed, but he quickly calmed down. Suddenly his fist came out of nowhere at an incredible speed, and clashed with my body. I flew several dozen meters back.

‘He’s a B rank!” I thought. I quickly calmed down, and rushed away as fast as could, towards the hut. As I was running I looked behind me. He was running after me, but it seemed he was a lot slower than me. Good. Vampires specialized in speed after all.

I rushed into the hut and looked for Amelia.

“Quick! We need to leave!”

As I shouted, she all of a sudden screamed. Then she turned into a flash and disappeared. I quickly turned around, and saw a spear piercing through Amelia’s abdomen as a pretty looking man stood in front of her. I was shocked and raged as I saw this. I quickly grabbed a knife, and as a flash I stabbed right in his eye, as his spear was stuck in Amelia. With my superior speed I managed to the knife into his eye, all the way, piercing through his brain. The man screamed, and then collapsed. I quickly grabbed Amelia and rushed out. Outside I pulled the spear out of her body, and looked around. There was no one around us, so I ran away as quickly as I could.

After I had ran for a while, I saw that burly man again. It seemed like he had lost track of me, and turned in the wrong direction. He hadn’t noticed me, so I took the opportunity and putting all my strength into my arm, I hurled the spear at him as hard as I could. The spear caused a shrieking sound as it pierced through the air. As the man turned around the spear had already appeared at his face. The spear clashed with his head, and pierced through it. Only the tip of the spear pierced out on the other side. What a tough man. I had put all my strength into that spear and only managed to hit him because he was unprepared. Even then, I only manged to slightly pierce through his head. He had truly tough skin. But now both the people that had seen my face were dead.

After looking in shock for a moment, I rushed out again. I was running as quickly as could, but it still took an hour before I came out of the forest. Luckily I hadn’t met any more of those men in this time period. I doubt I would be able to kill another one of them. Although I didn’t even know if there were any more of them.

Even though I had already gotten out of the forest, I didn’t stop running. I looked at Amelia with anxiety. She was unconscious, but her wounds were rapidly healing, and had already closed up. I was surprised that she was knocked out from that, a vampire should be able to tolerate such a wound. That pretty man had probably done something to her.

I had been running for two days already, and Amelia still hadn’t woken up. I had no idea where I was, but I could see a road a bit ahead. I didn’t go the road, but instead stayed clear of it. I started to look for a place to rest. After looking for a while I finally found a cave. I entered the cave and put Amelia down. I sat next to her and started thinking

Who were those people? They were at least B rank. It seemed like they were targeting us. That pretty boy, probably saw me rushing into the hut at amazing speeds, so he determined that I was the one he was looking for? Why were they looking for us? Of course. They were sent by the army. Fuck! They found all those farmers I killed drained of blood. A lot of the people in the village I massacred were drained of blood as well. The same with the soldiers. They must have seen a connection with all this and the kidnapped villagers. Thus they decided that I most likely lived in the forest, so they sent a team of B rank warriors after me.

What was I thinking? I shouldn’t killed people so blatantly. Now Amelia is hurt. What am I going to do? If she dies I won’t be able to forgive myself! She must live.

I looked at Amelia carefully, checking to see if anything’s wrong. I couldn’t find anything out of the ordinary. After thinking a while I decided to reopen her wound. I took my knife and cut into her abdomen where a line had appeared. As I cut, blood started flowing out. Soon there was a hole in her abdomen. I grabbed the sides of the hole and spread. It was too bloody, so I couldn’t see anything. Weirdly this blood didn’t look as attractive as human blood, it was more as when a human sees another human’s blood.

I decided to stick my hand into the wound, to see if I could find anything. As I was searching through her abdomen, my hand suddenly came upon a chard object. I quickly grabbed it and pulled it out. This object was too hard to be anything in the human body, other than a bone. If it was bone, then it didn’t matter, as it was already broken off. I looked at item in my hand. It was made of metal, and was the size of fingernail. It gave of a strange aura. From the information I had in my mind, I determined that this was an enchanted piece of metal. It was probably inserted into her body from the spear, and was most likely the cause of her coma. I put the piece of metal into my pocket, after I cleaned it for blood. Then I looked towards Amelia. Her wounds were quickly healing.

After of waiting, filled with anxiety and fear, she finally opened her eyes.

“You’re awake!” I almost screamed. I felt relief in my heart, as the fear and anxiety faded away.

She looked at me amiably as she said

“I saved you. I’m glad you’re okay. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if you ever died.”

She kept looking at me with affection ever apparent in her eyes. I felt strong feelings surge up in my heart. I had spent over two years with. My feelings towards her had only grown in these years, but as she willingly sacrificed herself to save me, I felt a feeling I never felt before. Even a bonded vampire wouldn’t sacrifice himself without being asked. Sometimes they would even be able to resist such a command.

“You’re one to talk. You have no idea how afraid and anxious I’ve been these past days. I was so afraid that you would never wakeup that I could die”

I looked her deep in the eyes. Suddenly I saw tears swelling up in Amelia’s eyes. She quickly hugged me.

“Thank you.” She said, as she kissed me on my lips. I just looked at her. I was slightly shocked. The kiss went on for a few seconds before stopping. She looked me the eyes with a smile on her face. I smiled back at her.

We started discussing what we should do now. From now on we would be more careful when killing, and get rid of any evidence. We also needed to gain more experience in the world. And there was also one problem. Neither of us could read, since we lived in a rural area. We decided that we would go travel the road close to us, until we either find a traveller or a village.

We had made a decision. We would become mercenaries, and take on all kind of mission, then we would make some money, and eventually we could buy some estate somewhere, and even get slave, to use as blood dolls. But this would take a lot of money.

Thus we set out on the road. This time we didn’t stop as much in the day. We would only go find cover, when it was absolutely unbearable. We travelled for a full day when we finally arrived at a village. The sun was just coming up now too. We walked into the village, as the villagers looked at us with curious eyes. Soon we found an inn. I went up to the inn keeper and asked him for directions to the nearest city. For a mortal it would take around two weeks to get there, but we should be able to make it quickly if we travel at full speed. After I asked question, we rented a room.

In the room there was a queen size bed and a table, with two chairs. We quickly undressed and went to bed. This time Amelia was lying up against my body. She looked me the eyes, then kissed me.

“Let’s do it” she said, with a serious tone. I could feel that she was starting to get a bit wet down there. I kissed her, as I rolled on top of her. We were in a deep kiss that lasted for several minutes. I put my hands behind her back and took off her bra. In front of me there appeared a pair perfectly shaped plump breasts. I kissed her on the breast as I took off her underwear. Soon we were both naked, as I slid my penis down to her entrance. I thrust my penis in, when I felt it meet the hymen. I put a bit of force as broke. I looked at Amelia

“Are you okay?” I asked with worry as my penis had entered deeper inside her.

“I’m fine. It didn’t hurt at all.” She said with an adorable smile on her face. I started thrusting my penis in and back out again, as I heard small moans in my ears. I continued thrusting, then I turned her around and put on her fours. I kept humping for from behind, enjoying her cute moans, ringing through my ears. We continued having sex for twenty minutes, until finally a white liquid flowed through her vagina, into her womb. But this white liquid wouldn’t be able to make her pregnant, except if we used the reproduction spell.

We looked tenderly at each other, not saying a word, just enjoying each other’s presence. That day we had sex three more times.

The next day we left hand in hand, and started our journey towards the city. We wanted to get to the city quickly, so we left the road and started running at full speed. We left the road because we didn’t want anyone see us run this fast. We were being cautious even though people would only think that we are very strong adventurers or something. We travelled at fast speeds, and after two days we finally arrive in front of the city.

The city was surrounded by big walls, you could only see some towers and big buildings here and there. We went to the gate. There were a few guards standing there, guarding the gate, as is their job. We walked past them without trouble, and arrived inside the city. This was the first time either of us had ever been inside a city, so we were very amazed. We looked around, the curiosity apparent in our eyes. A lot of the people in the streets looked at us funnily. We walked around the city, looking for an inn or some kind of adventuring or mercenary guild. Eventually we found an inn. I asked the innkeeper for directions, and soon after we stood in front of a very big building. We walked towards the entrance and entered.

We came into a big hall that was luxuriously decorated. We walked up to a counter with a woman behind.

“We would like to register as mercenaries.” I said to the woman. She looked at me and then replied “That’s fine, you just need to sign these papers and take a test, then you will be given a mercenary token. Then you will be allowed to take missions according to your rank. Now please sign these papers, and follow me.”

We signed the papers, even though we couldn’t read what was on them. We would really need to learn how to read soon. After signing the paper the woman took us to a side room. In this room there was a crystal ball. The woman spoke

“This is a power testing ball. You just need to put your hands on it and your strength will show. Now put your hands on it.”

I hesitantly put my hands on it. After I had held it for five seconds it started glowing brightly.

“The peak of rank C? At your age? That’s incredible! Miss, you do it too.” The woman said in amazement as she looked at me respectfully. Apparently it was incredible to be this strong at my age. Amelia put her hands on it well, then after five seconds it lit brightly, but still a bit weaker than when I tried.

“Early rank C? You two sure are something. How old are you?” She asked curiously as she now looked at Amelia with respect too.

“I’m twenty one and she’s twenty.” I replied honestly.

After, she took us back to the counter, where she us two silver tokens with a C engraved on it. Then she showed us to the mission table. There were a lot of missions here, but every mission was divided into ranks. You couldn’t take mission higher than your rank. The only way to increase your rank was through the test ball. This no one could cheat. I looked at all the missions, looking for one that interested me. Then I found one that interested me. I couldn't read it , but there was one part that interested me. I knew my numbers and on the mission paper it said 250 gold.

As I saw the reward for these rank C missions I was simply shocked. Back when I lived in the farm, we would be lucky to earn 10 gold in a whole year. The currency was divided into copper, silver and gold coins. 100 copper equalled one silver and one gold equalled 100 silver. The strongest force that existed in this prefecture was only at the B rank, so a C rank adventurer would earn quite a bit compared to others. But if you went to the capital prefecture, if you were an S rank, you could easily earn several thousand gold in just one mission. Usually only around a few thousand gold could buy a pretty good house.

I immediately decided to accept this mission, so I took it over to the reception. I handed the paper to the woman and she nicely explained the contents of the mission. We had to go and find some bandit groups hide out and wipe them out, and rescue some merchants daughter. But she also said that we should be careful, because the bandit leader was a middle rank C warrior. We then signed a paper and left.

We went back to that inn from before and rented a room. Immediately as we came into the room we started kissing, and stripping each other down. Soon after we were having sex to celebrate us finally getting to the city, and becoming mercenaries.

The next day, when the sun set down, we set out. We hadn’t drunk anything in days, so when we saw two women and guards travelling a few kilometres out of the city, we decided to feed on them. I quickly appeared behind the guard and broke his neck. Then I grabbed his corpse and one of the women. Amelia grabbed the other one, and we disappeared in a flash. A few hundred meters away from the road, behind a big boulder, I dropped the corpse and sank my teeth into the girl’s neck. We drained them of their blood, then kissed with blood still in our mouth. We burned the bodies, erasing all evidence, then immediately left.
