《Young Adversary》234th Adversary: Miko’s Plans

The Red Light District. Edward and Bella were walking down the halls of their headquarters.
“I wonder why the don requested a meeting with everyone?”
Edward shook his head at Bella’s question.
“One can only guess what a brilliant mind like the Don’s is thinking.”
“You really don’t miss any chance to kiss up to him, do you?”
“I’m merely in awe of a great man. What’s wrong with praising him?”
“For someone with a lot of pride, you’re quick to bring yourself down when it comes to Miko. Do you want to become his subordinate that badly?”
“Of course. Unlike my brother, I have no problem working for another if they can prove themselves worthy of my services. You can call it a lack of ambition if you want, but it’s always been my dream to be up close to a notorious gangster and witness his glory as his right hand.”
“….You always glorify gangsters. If I didn’t know any better I would think being a part of organized crimes is a noble achievement from listening to you.”
Edward laughed.
“For me, those who fight against societal rules and do as they please are heroes.”
“Then shouldn’t you be a rebel instead of a gangster with that mindset?”
Bella suddenly looked like she remembered something.
“Oh, right. Have you heard of Phantom?”
“I haven’t. Who’s that?”
“The White Phantom, Phantom the Liberator, or simply just Phantom. He’s a mysterious man who goes around the globe causing rebellions wherever he goes by encouraging citizens to overthrow their oppressors.”
“Oh? He sounds like an interesting fellow. Why did you bring him up?”
“Apparently, he’s been spotted on this continent. A lot of heads of state are panicking because they fear that he might cause their people to rebel.”
“Is your father one of those people?”
Bella nodded.
“He’s panicking saying that he wants me to return. That man is so incompetent that I still wonder how he became king in the first place.”
“….No love for your father huh?”
They reached the door to the room they were supposed to meet everyone and stopped in front of it. They entered the room and saw everyone there as they expected.
“Edward, Bella, come have a seat.”
Miko said while sitting at the head of the table.
“Sorry, we’re late. We were discussing some matters.”
The two took a seat around the large table and looked at Miko like everyone else.
“Alright. I’ve called you all here because I want to discuss this war and what our next course actions will be.”
“I was actually curious about that. Aren’t we going to attack the capital?”

Ace asked.
“I’ve been wondering the same thing. Bloom Newgate is out of commission and Jin should be severely injured. This is the perfect time to attack.”
“I wouldn’t say that. I mean, if what you said is true why hasn’t the pillars attacked the capital themselves?”
“Maybe they’re afraid that we will come in and attack them from behind if they did. I mean, you’re stronger now and is a force to be reckoned with on your own. They might be aware that the rest of us are getting stronger as well.”
Hina said.
“That’s possible. After all, we’re the chaos element in this war. There’s no telling what we will do.”
Luka added.
“While what you said is feasible, I believe that it has more to do with Jin Makoto himself.”
Miko smiled.
“I’m willing to bet my life that he’s already completely healed up.”
“Already? It’s been only a few days. That’s faster than my healing rate.”
Luka said.
“I think he’s healed and is already preparing to give his blood and soul to this war. In other words, the next time we fight it will be against Jin Makoto a warrior of New Era. It won’t be easy even for me. Especially with Shòu being in the mix.”
“Kaido? Wasn’t he already defeated?”
Tessa asked. Before Miko answered the door opened and Yota, Bella’s brother entered the room.
“Don, I’ve brought them.”
“Good, bring them in.”
Everyone looked wondering who was going to come in and were surprised when they saw Hana and Chrome enter the room.
“What’s going on, Miko? Why did you invite them?”
Momo asked.
“I wanted them to hear what I had planned and give their opinions.”
Miko stood up.
“Come in you two. Have a seat.”
The girls looked at him and everyone in the room with weird looks before sitting down. Miko sat down and looked at everyone in the room.
“You guys believe that Jin and Kaido are already beat right? But what about them? They know the two of them pretty well. So, ladies; do you think those two are done?”
“No.”
Hana and Chrome spoke in unison to which Miko laughed.
“You heard them. Those two will definitely come back way stronger than before and I’m going to allow them the time they need to prepare.”
“Why? Won’t that just make things harder?”
Chrome asked.
“It doesn’t matter because I’ll win in the end.”
“Aren’t you being a bit overconfident?”
Miko smirked.
“I merely spoke the truth.”
Chrome suddenly looked disgusted. Miko ignored her and continued.
“For the time being, we’re going to sit back and build up our strength so that everything can come to an end in the next battle. Is that alright with you guys?”

“I’m sure you know what you’re doing, so alright.”
Luka said.
“It gives me more time to finish my new form. So I’m down.”
Said Sora. One after the other everyone gave their approval.
(For them to readily agree to let the enemy getting stronger, these people must be crazy.)
Chrome thought. Hana, on the other hand, was thinking something else.
(They really have a lot of faith in him. This group will surely bring Miko lots of victories in the future. I hope Kaido can have something like this in the future.)
She smiled.
“Anyway, on to the main reason why I called this meeting.”
“Main reason?”
Miko nodded.
“I want to discuss my plans for after this war.”
“You talk as if your victory is inevitable.”
Chrome said.
“And you sound as if it isn’t.”
Miko laughed.
“Anyway. Here’s what I have planned.”
“What?”
“Are you serious?”
Everyone had a look of disbelief on their faces after hearing what Miko said.
“Don, did you seriously mean what you said?!”
Bella stood from her seat and asked.
“I wouldn’t say it if I wasn’t. Not even I would say something like that as a joke.”
“Hell yeah!”
She shouted excitedly at the ceiling before placing her hand over her heart.
“I, Bella Azalea from this moment swear on the souls of my ancestors that I will forever recognize Gamiko Dragna the Third as my master and lord!”
“Hahahaha. I appreciate your loyalty, Bella. However, I’m merely furthering my own agenda.”
“Even so, what you promised here will forever change the state of my country. I am eternally in your debt.”
Miko saw Bella’s serious expression and just nodded with a smile.
“Hey, what kind of promise is that?”
Chrome stood up.
“Are you insane? That plan of yours will never work!”
She was covered in cold sweat.
(Dammit! This can’t happen! If what he has planned comes through then won’t this country disappear? Not only that…)
She glared at Miko.
(Won’t this guy become too powerful for most people to handle?)
“Do you think MYTH will allow that?!”
“They will. As long as I win, they’ll allow me to do whatever I want.”
Chrome started gritting her teeth.
(This guy….He’s fully aware of how much he means to New Era and is taking full advantage of it.)
“Give up, Chrome.”
Miko called out to her and smiled.
“I win.”
“Your victory isn’t assured. Jin and Kaido can still defeat you. Not to mention, Bloom. When she wakes up and finds out what you did, she’ll destroy you.”
“Bloom, huh? I admit that she’ll be a real problem when she wakes up.”
Miko looked at Hana.
“What do you think, Hana? Who do you think will be my biggest adversary in this war?”
Hana thought about it for a bit before answering.
“If he really reverts to his old self then Kaido will be a huge problem…But he won’t be the biggest problem…I don’t know much regarding Jin’s powers so I can’t say him….I would say, Bloom.”
Miko nodded.
“Luka, you’ve fought against Bloom. Do you agree with her?”
“…When I fought against her it was tough. Looking back on it now, if Gear hadn’t intervened I would’ve lost. Also, there were times when we fought when it felt like she had some immense power hidden inside her. Whenever that power leaked out there was nothing I could do. So I think that she’s stronger than we think.”
“I see. Edward, what do you think?”
“My opinion differs from those lovely ladies, Don.”
Edward lifted a finger with a smile.
“I believe your biggest adversary will be Natasa Kingsley.”
“Natasa? Ha! That brat can’t compare to our queen!”
Chrome shouted.
“And why’s that? Need I remind you just what kind of ability that brat possesses? Not to mention, she’s younger than everyone here in this room but can definitely bring the fight to everyone here. Also, have anyone noticed that we haven’t seen her at all lately? I don’t know about you, but I find that eerie.”
“Hahahaha! As expected of you, Edward. You truly get it.”
“I’m grateful for your praise, Don.”
“Do you agree with him, Miko?”
Momo asked. Miko nodded.
“While Jin, Bloom, Shòuxíng, and the other three pillars are difficult opponents on their own. In my eyes, Natasa is a completely different beast. It will be hard to subdue her especially with the personality that she has that perfectly matches her abilities.”
“Oh, I see. So that’s why you said what you said earlier. It had to do mostly with her.”
“That’s right, Sora.”
Miko grinned.
“Other than Bloom, that brat is my main target this time around.”
Meanwhile in Romix. Natasa was on the floor breathing heavily. She had a big grin on her face.
“I think I’m close.”
She clenched her fist.
“I’ll soon be strong enough to beat Bastian. After that, I’ll go challenge Miko myself.”
She burst out laughing. Her laugh filled the dome-shaped room as scales appeared on her face.

Contact First
2039 - Earth A narrow beam energy signal appeared aimed squarely at earth from the TRAPPIST system. The communication consisted of a layered set of repeating data over several thousand wavelengths. Over the next few months scientists discovered that the lower wavelengths carried an encoded numerical language which could then be used to interpret the more complicated messages carried on the higher wavelengths. After half a year of painstaking work the signal was fully decoded. It described a small satellite launched along a precise trajectory towards the fourth planet of our solar system. Included was a package of advanced research that humanity would need to have ready in order to receive the satellite and decelerate it safely. The alien data provided the kick that humanity needed to turn from petty squabbling and unite to explore the final frontier. Major government and corporate leaders worked together to create the framework for the United Federation of Sol. UFS spaceports went from scaffolding to daily launches in every major city around the globe. Ships floated like dandelion seeds, spreading on solar wind to grow into colonies. 2397 - Mars orbit, Egeria Station The command center was a hive of activity as checks were conducted and systems initialized. Scientists flitted by like mayflies as communicators beeped and holoscreens spat out green tinted readouts. Nervous energy was thick in the air as everyone anticipated the culmination of over three hundred years of work. Massive fusion reactors under the planet's surface thrummed with barely restrained power as energy fed into a gleaming metallic maze criss crossing the planet. Metal fingers reached up, overshadowing the mighty olympus mons and trying to grab the stars. All over the solar system, people quickly turned to look as gigantic energy lances shot from the dusty fourth planet. Two years later. The same people that clapped loudly at the successful activation of project Hermes now wait with baited breath. A silver capsule trailing bright photonic sails is captured by a net of grav beams and guided with care bordering on reverence into the station. Holoscreens across the headquarters project an image of the sleek craft settling in the bay. Data connections are established and the holoscreens blink to white. Slowly an image forms on the screen. Across the headquarters people stare in wonder as a wholly alien face stares back. "Contact established. Welcome to the universe."
