Sora’s POV

I stared at the Devil and the Devil stared at me.

This might feel like déjà vu but it isn’t. The difference being that my feet are no longer in the air but on the ground. I dare not move, is he going to kill me?

“I did say you are free to go.” The Devil said as he placed his rapier back into its thin sheath.

I continued to stand as still as possible. The display of power that I witnessed had me completely frightened.

Why is he saying I am free to go?

“You are no good.” The Devil said as he assessed the vicinity. Nobody had stepped out of their houses even though an entire inn blew up. The lock down was completely effective. Other than the glowing flames amongst the debris there was no other source of light.

The rain had long stopped, I didn’t even know when it stopped since I was so busy getting to the Blue Rose Inn and catching up with the others...

The Devil completely nullified his blood lust; his presence completely diminished.

I would not have known there was another person standing next to me if I didn’t already have my eye on him; that is how perfect the Devil’s stealth mode was.

“I am no good?” I ask. I am curious. What does he mean I am no good? No good as a bait? Since I now ordered the Abbe and others to run away, am I no good as bait? Why am I no good? I really don’t want to know…just getting the conversation moving…

“As you are … you are no good and of no use to me.” The Devil said.

I should be happy right? The Devil just said I am of no use to him….then why the heck do I feel so annoyed?

I am really stupid…I am feeling annoyed? Against whom? The Devil? The monster just killed two of his kind in one blow….but I need to know….what use….what does he want from me….I simply can’t trust him. I turn my back and he kills me…never trust the Devil….Devils are truly bad news.

“Why?” That is the embodiment of my articulation skills…I feel like slapping my forehead.

The Devil stared at me. He wasn’t smiling nor was he angry. It seems he lost his interest in me.

“Cause as you are, you will simply die, be it in the Empire or outside….it is not worth my time and effort to kill you.”

So he is not going to kill me because I am adventurer or an enemy rather I am not worthy enough of an opponent. To him I am some mere insect on the ground….somehow while my rationale side of my brain is telling me to celebrate; the egoistic side of my brain wants me to correct him. I have my own pride…well I am not stupid to challenge the Devil, but I do have my pride….

“You will regret those words…”

The Devil shot me a cold stare. A cold stare that looked like as if he had read my mind and knew that I had threatened him…wait aren’t I guarding my mind…wait…DID I JUST SAY THAT OUT LOUD???

ARGH!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!! I SHOULDN’T CARE IF HE TRAMPLES MY PRIDE AND EGO. I RATHER BE A FREAKING LIVING DOORMAT THAN A DEAD MAN!!

“Then maybe I should just kill you right now…” The Devil said as he went for his rapier.

“I didn’t mean that…” Last minute ditch attempt to save myself. “However, if you underestimate me next time, it might not go so well.”

I barely managed to say the last bit of the sentence as the rapier’s sharp and pointy edge pressed against below my jaw.

My eyes were shut. Please don’t kill me!

“Heh..”

His tone upset me further. I don’t know why but I opened by mouth again. “I don’t see what’s so funny, from what I can tell you were owned today. My Guardians certainly aren’t the strongest but you can’t be either since you took a beating from them.”

He still had to wipe the blood of his forehead. His attire was a complete mess. I am guessing here that my Guardians' were responsible for all this.

Take that for a comeback. I might not win against you physically but I can fight and win against you verbally.

Now, I might as well say my last rites prayers.

He is so certainly going to kill me.

I should have just shut my mouth.

I don’t think the Devil found me funny.

Good bye sweet world - I will forever remember the fun I had. Good bye...

The Devil moved his hand into his waist coat to grab something. I flinched.

It happened so fast but he threw something on the ground.

I jumped in fright to dodge. It was big object. Thrown poorly and purposefully on the ground.

“Here keep it..” The Devil said with a smirk.

When I looked down at the object…it was the Abbe’s head.
