《Sometime in Autumn: A Fallen Noble’s Journey to Immortality》84 Fang Clan Patriarch

“One can never tell the benefits of generosity because most people can never forget those who go out of their way to help them.”
Back in the mountain peak of the Saints Hall, Old Ye Mo immediately went to work on refining Qai’s dark-brown Cloak.
According to the old cultivator, it may take him an entire day to do the task.
In Qai’s mind, when it came to speed of work, Old Nanfeng was way better. To him, this clearly showed the disparity in the proficiency between the 2 masters.
At any rate, Qai was still satisfied with Old Ye Mo’s skills.
Meanwhile, it didn't take long before the Fang Clan Patriarch arrived at the gates of the Saints Hall.
And when he came, he was actually accompanied by the elder who brought the precious leather together with another level 6 Qi Condensation stage cultivator who appeared to be just a bit older than Qai himself.
The Fang cultivators were received by the Crag Brothers who on the other hand, appeared to be very intimidating with their mid-Foundation Establishment stage aura.
Just by evaluating the Crag Brothers, the Fang Patriarch already knew why their 3 clan descendants under the Saints Hall’s wings were very satisfied in becoming part of the Saints Hall.
The reserves of the Saints Hall were deep!
Once inside, the Fang cultivators were beyond astonished when they saw how extravagant the mountain peak was.
Immediately upon entering, they already saw a number of children doing some strict training on the dueling stages.
Also, they saw the wide thoroughfare and different structures that were all made of Darkgold limestones.
‘What a luxurious place!’
Of course, to their standards, the Saints Hall had an unimaginable wealth. Even the Patriarch who had once been a Scarlet Feather Sect disciple couldn't help but be amazed.
Apparently, the setting of the territory was way different from what a sect should look like. But obviously, the ambiance of the Saints Hall was comparable to that of a sect.
Without further introduction, Qai invited his guests to the massive main hall and did not beat around the bush to explain his purpose of inviting them.

The patriarch was himself an early Foundation Establishment stage cultivator and seemed to be even older than Old Ye Mo. He wore a long white beard and a facial expression that exuded wisdom. And from his appearance alone, it was obvious that he had already lost the best chance to form a core.
Qai immediately mentioned the current cultivation bases of the 3 Fang disciples under the Hall’s wings, also their status as the only disciples of the Saints Hall, and their current mission in the Mo family branch in the northern region.
The guests were obviously struck when they heard how fast did the 3 young Fang descendants advance in their cultivation especially Fang Zhao.
The Patriarch had teary eyes.
Deep inside him, he was convinced that the Fang Clan had just entered into a golden era and that the future of clan was already guaranteed to be in good hands.
Qai also mentioned to the guest that they would have to stay for a day inside the Saints Hall since he still had to wait for his Cloak in order to determine how to reward the Patriarch.
“Of course, all 3 of you are my honored guests so you are free to roam around our mountain peak.”
“We will have to thank the young lord for the offer.”
The 3 did grab the opportunity to sightsee around the Saints Hall.
And the places they happened to deeply admire were the herb garden which boasted thousands of varying precious herbs and the breeding ground which was the home of some dozens of Blood Horses—apparently, the first batch of Spirit Beasts had already given birth to a number of foals few times.
In the mind of the Fang Patriarch, even if the Blood Horses were just level 1 Spirit Beasts, their sheer number was enough to raze their entire village clan to the ground.
The following day, Qai once again met the 3 guests in the main hall. This time, he was wearing his newly enhanced outer Cloak which now possessed a new color—purplish brown.

Qai allowed his guests to sit and began to speak about the rewards.
“Esteemed Patriarch of the Fang Clan, I would like to be honest with you. Our Saints Hall tool refinement master did a great job maximizing the potential of the treasure that you brought to us.”
The 3 guests held their breaths as they listen in anticipation of every bit of a word that came out of Qai’s mouth.
“How about it, I wrote off the original reward of 5000 Merit Points. Instead, I am offering your clan the position of Sect’s Hall outer official.”
The guests’ had their jaws dropped and their eyes wide at the offer—it was actually one of the 2 coveted exchangeable awards in the mission board.
While it was not comparable to the Honorary Elder, they knew that such a position would also bring their clan a lot of benefits.
“Young lord, if it is not improper, can we know what basically are the tasks of being an outer official. And what are the underlying benefits implied with it?”
“Good question. I'm pretty sure not only you are interested to know what it means to become an outer official of my Saints Hall.”
Of course, Qai had not thought too much about it.
In the first place, the idea of establishing the mission board was borne out of sudden inspiration during uncontrollable public clamor. And apparently, even the 2 positions he offered were also brought out of a whim.
His initial thoughts were that it would still take some time before someone could save up as much points equivalent to said positions.
But now that Qai offered it for real, he could only come up with a satisfying answer.
“Well, I'm thinking of allowing the supposed outer official to manage our Saints Hall’s shop and teahouse. That means, it also includes the duty to handle the affairs of the mission board.”
Qai looked intently in the eyes of the Fang Patriarch and made a bodily gesture as if what he was about to say was obvious.
“As you can see, our Saints Hall lacks the manpower to administer most of our affairs in the city. While we have hired people to work there, we still had to personally supervise them.”
The guests were obviously thrilled at the offer but they fear that there might be a catch hidden in the proposal—for, after all, there was no free lunch in the cultivation world.
They wanted to throw in a question, but they hesitated since the tongue of the Saints Hall’s young lord did not show any sign of stopping.
“Should you accept the position, your clan in return would get 15% of the annual income of those establishments and a limited access to our Saints Hall’s resources.”
The Patriarch almost fell from where he was seated upon hearing the perks of being an outer official.
But then again, he was not the one to be swayed easily by such tempting offer. And so he finally grabbed the chance to make some clarifications.
“Young lord, does the task of managing the affairs of the said establishments should only be handled by a single person.”
Qai thought for a moment.
In his mind, the old patriarch obviously found a loophole in his improvised solution. And he was smart enough to indirectly admit his mistake and simply let the matter be as what he already said.
“Well, I am giving the position to your clan. And not to a single member of your clan. So I don't care which person or persons your clan would put to oversee them. They would represent the position just the same. And as long as they would do the task properly, I wouldn't question their appointment. But you should take note that even if you place 4 persons in there, the share of your clan from the income remains the same. What do you think?”
