《Sometime in Autumn: A Fallen Noble’s Journey to Immortality》67 Soldiers Gone Missing

“War oftentimes creates tons of opportunities for an immortal to grow. One only has to be at the right place and at the right moment.”
Calling Qai ‘our lord’ was, of course, Ji Wuheng's way of playing around with Qai’s earlier declaration.
For some reason, Qai blurted out such words out of inward habit.
Back in his previous life, whenever he conceptualize war strategies in his mind, he would always call himself the lord of a certain territory as a sort of battle cry.
Little did Qai know that such declaration imprinted in the minds of his team members as well as to that of the late Foundation Establishment stage Devil Dao cultivator who successfully escaped.
In fact, if there was any information that his enemy remembered of him, it was the evidence that Qai called himself the ‘lord of the hill.’
In the conjecture of the Devil Dao cultivator, if there was any significance in that bold statement, perhaps it meant that Qai must be some heir to a great clan.
Of course, Qai had no idea that his enemy made an oath to hunt him and his team members down.
However, even after three months, still, that Devil Dao cultivator never came back.
Within that 3 month period though, Qai and his team members gained a lot of experience.
After the defeat of the Devil Dao cultivators, Qai took the lead in removing the restrictions on the storage pouches they collected and evenly distributed all its contents among themselves.
Also, the team encountered two more enemy groups consisting of Qi Condensation realm disciples from the Broken Moon Sect.
With their previous experience, the team easily defeated them all and, as expected, amassed the latter’s wealth.
As a matter of fact, if Qai’s team members would have their own way, they would want more enemies to come to their station so that they could plunder more storage pouches.
“Hihi, we've struck it rich this time. Those Broken Moon Sect disciples sure are wealthy. These Spirit Stones alone are enough for my Mo branch family to recruit a number of rogue cultivators.”

“Aunt Song, your thoughts are actually in line with my thoughts. So you should take half of my share and bring them to my father once this war is over..”
“Nephew Chen, you and your sister are the future of our branch family. You should use all of these resources to yourself and become strong like our brother Qai here. Otherwise, without a true powerhouse in the family, what can few recruits add to our family’s current situation.”
As Qai listened to the side story of the Mo disciples, he couldn't help but recall all the conflicts back in his aristocratic life between heirs with respect to succession. In fact, even himself fell victim to such discord.
He sighed knowing that even if there was a vast difference in the worldly culture between his two lives, human being’s nature was all the same when it came to struggling for wealth and power.
‘Perhaps, anywhere else, as long as there are human beings in existence, there would always be conflicts among themselves.’
Qai for his part did not have any interest in the treasures which he found wanting for his fighting style so he let the others have them. Instead, he just took his shares of Spirit Stones and medicinal pills.
As for the rest of the items that had no use for them, Qai had sent Mo Shui to bring them to the Crag Brothers in exchange for more resources—surprisingly, upon Mo Shui's return, the resources that came included a medicinal bottle containing a single Foundation Establishment Pill for Qai.
At any rate, all medicinal pills found in the enemies' storage pouch—particularly from the spoils of the team’s first battle—were mostly concocted to aid Foundation Establishment realm cultivators so the effects on them who were all in the Qi Condensation realm were evidently massive.
As a result, all of their cultivation bases advanced by leaps and bounds. Apart from Qai, all of the members of the team experienced a breakthrough during that period.
Similar to Qai, Ji Wuheng finally attained level 9 in the Qi Condensation stage. Despite his sturdy looking body, he apparently had poor latent talent as evidenced by his age which was amost around 30.

As for the Mo disciples, all of them were now in level 8 of the Qi Condensation realm.
Obviously, Mo Shui had the slowest rate of cultivation achievement—but it was an understandable situation since she saved most of her resources when she entered the Precious Tree Sect to pave the way for his nephew and niece.
As for Qai, he was now nearing the great circle of the Qi Condensation stage.
Of course, he was not planning to make a breakthrough to the next realm while in the war zone. Otherwise, any disturbance might cause him a major backlash.
Thus, even if he already had a Foundation Establishment Pill in his possession, he wouldn't want to take the risk.
Besides, he himself was not certain whether a single Foundation Establishment Pill would suffice.
Within that period also, the Queen Ant still did not show up.
In Qai’s conjecture, his Spirit Beast must have been trying to make a breakthrough as well.
‘Truly, this dangerous war is a time for many opportunities. I wonder what kind of Spirit Beast the Queen Ant would be in its return.’
Having thought of that, Qai felt confused about the pair of Spider eggs in his beast pouch. They were as huge as a human head.
And it had been months already and they still did not hatch.
He asked Ji Wuheng a bit about them since the latter belonged to the outer disciples that took care of the breeding grounds, but to his disappointment, the latter didn't have an answer either.
The One-eyed Spider that his Eland killed also belonged to the giant class among the insects—even though its size was just a meter in length.
But when it fought, it had the ability to use its web very meticulously giving its enemy a difficulty to approach. In addition, the web can become a net-like weapon to catch its prey.
And these abilities we're what made Qai decide to keep the eggs.
‘I really do hope to have an army of my own, but it was difficult to find a group of cultivators that would be loyal to me. So I could only hope to accomplish my wish with Spirit Beasts.’
Unfortunately, there were no Spirit Beasts of the same kind as that of the One-eyed Spider in the Precious Tree Sect so Ji Wuheng could only make some speculations. But even that did not help Qai that much.
Nevertheless, Qai continuously branded the eggs and even occasionally, placed a drop of his blood. In his mind, perhaps the baby Spiders would recognize him trough his blood should they come out of their shells one day.
Several days later, Mo Shui hurried towards Qai after having just gone back from the makeshift market.
When she appeared, it was as if some Devil Dao cultivator just chased after her as she tried to catch her breath.
“Sister Mo Shui, what’s wrong?”
“Brother Qai, this is from the Teng brothers. They said it is of urgent importance so I went to you first.”
As she said that, she took something from her robe.
It was a Jade slip.
Qai placed it in front of his glabella to read its content—but his heart beat fast upon learning the message.
Immediately, a sense of worry welled up in him.
In an unexpected fashion, his 2 Ant Soldiers guarding the shop had apparently gone missing!
And according to the report it had already been 3 days since the Crag brothers noticed it such incident.
In Qai's estimation, if he added Mo Shui’s days of travel, then then the Ant Soldiers could have already been missing for almost a week.
‘What happened to Queen Ant!?’
Qai tried to calm down since he was certain that something in him would be triggered if his contracted Spirit Beast met its demise.
And just as he was about to head back inside his cave to think things through, his face suddenly twitched.
He looked outside before turning to face Mo Shui.
“Enemies!”

Eater of Spirits
Story is abandoned. There will be no more updates on it. Jarod is kind of a loser, as it goes with these stories. A tear in his reality pulls him into another world, where he gains the ability to devour spirits, the locus of magic within the world. This is far from my first foray into fiction, but it is my first time posting anything to royal road, and first time writing LitRPG. This is an exercise in putting things out there, and just writing. That means that all of this is going to be a first draft, where edits may come sparsely if there is a glaring issue or something I think should be better. Thanks for reading!

The Polyglot's Rune
Fear. Regret. Memories. They all flashed before my eyes as my life began to fade away. I felt a darkness encroach upon my heart followed by a sinister foreboding. Within that moment I was asked a single question by a powerful, mystical being. “Brave being, do you wish to accomplish a great deed in your life?” “No,” I refused, but the voice did not listen. It summoned me to its world only to try to have me slaughtered. But then, I was saved by him, the princess who disguised herself as a man. He was hellbent on revenge, and he was determined to drag me down with him. This story is meant to be a bit of a mix of genres and cultures, so there are some elements that may seem xianxia like, but it's not exactly the same so I didn't tag it. It also has multiple lead characters but is written in first person. Schedule: Dropped Normal Chapter Length: approximately 3000 words Warning: Tagged [15+] for Strong Language and Violence (Gore and Profanity aren't very prevalent, but I added the warning tags just in case).
