《Sometime in Autumn: A Fallen Noble’s Journey to Immortality》66 Lord of the Hill

“A true noble must be a lord to his territory, unwavering to his people, but ruthless to his enemies.”
The two other Devil Dao cultivators were not actually shaken when their prey seemed well-prepared.
They were actually furious.
“You’re courting death!”
The defenses were apparently strong—that was because Qai and his team members had arranged multiple restrictions.
And on top of several Array formations, they were confronted by a Wind elemental Spirit Beast Eland as well.
So when the 2 Devil Dao cultivators realized this, they flicked their hands and summoned 3 Spirit Beasts of their own.
They were a pair of large Bats and a One-eyed Spider—and all of which were level 2 Spirit Beasts.
All of a sudden the battle on the hill turned to favor the invaders.
Qai’s team members’ faces all turned pale.
They were stunned at the knowledge of being suddenly cornered.
Meanwhile, Qai’s own opponent had pulled out his treasure—a black-colored skull.
Although Qai was fully focused on his enemy, he was also aware of what was happening on his team’s side.
He didn't care what kind of bizarre ability did the black-colored skull have, instead he instantly pulled the formation plate and tossed it before the enemy.
Immediately, the 10 undying skeletons appeared and started to mob the late Foundation Establishment stage cultivator who in turn was shocked when he saw the ‘familiar' treasure.
“You..”
It was a treasure refined by a renowned Devil Dao cultivator in their continent. And it was the very treasure he had long coveted from his fellow disciple.
He looked at Qai deeply and immediately understood that his opponent was not someone to be underestimated.
If such treasure was in Qai’s hands, it only meant either of two things—Qai personally killed its previous owner or Qai was backed by someone powerful.
However, he could not allow himself to delve deeply on such thoughts as tongues of flames from the skeletons occupied his every move.
This was what Qai had in mind.
Qai couldn't care less whether his enemy had a way to deal with the formation plate or not, he had to rush to the aid of his team members.

If all their Array formations were to break, then a massacre would happen.
Meanwhile, the 2 Devil Dao cultivators also noticed Qai able to contain their fellow disciple using a Devil Dao treasure—and they were dumbfounded at such spectacle.
And this allowed Qai to catch them off guard.
Qai immediately utilized his most potent ability to eliminate one of the two. It had been accomplished before, and he was hoping to accomplish the same at the moment.
‘Meteor Slash!’
A huge silver-colored Guandao made from pure Intent appeared above Qai hurling towards one of the 2 mid Foundation Establishment stage Devil Dao cultivators in a speed of light.
Booom!
As soon as the Guandao slashed through its target, the Devil Dao cultivator’s head rolled off.
Even if everyone was preoccupied with their respective battles, they were all thunderstruck.
Qai just killed a mid Foundation Establishment stage cultivator!
But if that was enough to let everyone stun, the following words that left out of Qai’s mouth made all of them even more startled.
“You Devil Dao cultivators are courting death. I am the Lord of this hill!”
Right after he exclaimed those words, he leaped onto the nearby battle where his Spirit Beast Eland was facing 2 large Bats.
Qai appeared in the middle of the 2 Spirit Beasts and instantaneously unleashed his always reliable knight skill.
‘Dance of Death!’
For years, he had been fighting Spirit Beasts even when he was yet to step into cultivation—so what could 2 measly Bats do to him.
With multiple swings of his Guandao, pure Intent instantly reigned around him as the weapon’s blade struck the Spirit Beasts on 2 sides of him countless times.
Wabooom.
The remaining Devil Dao cultivators immediately felt fear at the sight of Qai slaughtering the pair of level 2 Bats like cabbages.
All of sudden they felt wronged for choosing to attack in this area.
Initially, when they realized that the area was guarded by Qi Consensation stage disciples, they thought that the battle would be a walk in park.
They targeted Qai and his team since they always felt that killing Qi Condensation stage enemies were like farming for easy merits.

But now that they were outnumbered plus the fact that the undying skeletons from the formation plate were truly terrifying, they cannot but think of a way to escape.
Most of all, Qai possessed a unique Guandao ability that can kill the likes of them in one hit.
And now, Qai turned his head back to the late Foundation Establishment stage enemy.
His thoughts were that his Spirit Beast Eland could now handle the One-eyed Spider while the rest of his team members would mob the other Devil Dao cultivator.
Qai looked fiercely at his original opponent who, with the use of protective talismans, were able to deflect the barrage of the undying skeletons.
With such advantage, he was planning to once again use his Grandmaster rank Intent ability.
However, in the mind of the late Foundation Establishment stage Devil Dao cultivator, he had never been humiliated like this before.
‘Run.’
Who would have thought that there would come a day that he would flee from a measly Qi Condensation stage cultivator.
But he couldn't care less about face anymore. He just wanted to escape and come back for revenge with a much stronger team.
He would hunt Qai’s team down especially Qai who were already deeply impressed in his mind—perhaps to the extent that it could develop into a knot in his heart.
He didn't know who Qai was but, as arrogant as he was, he knew that if he could not resolve it by killing Qai soon, he might not be able to progress further in his cultivation.
Apart from that, Qai had in possession something he wanted, so slaying Qai could only give him more benefits than one.
Upon seeing Qai turned back to him, he did not hesitate to activate a high grade Escape talisman and leave his companion behind.
With a simple crack on the talisman, he was instantaneously barreled out of the middle of the undying skeletons and appeared ten miles away from Qai and his team’s zone.
Meanwhile, the Devil Dao cultivator—left behind together with his Spirit Beast—was flabbergasted by how his fellow disciple suddenly abandoned him.
He had his own escape talismans but they were of lower grade—apparently, they could only fly him out a few hundred meters away.
And at present, he was in the middle of defending against 4 enemies and their Array formations. In short, his hands were full to even activate a simple talisman.
On the other hand, after Qai, pulled back the formation plate, he turned to the remaining Devil Dao cultivator who was being held by his team members.
His sudden thoughts were to allow his team members to experience for themselves slaying a Foundation Establishment stage cultivator—that way, they would gain the heart to be more fearless in this war.
So he moved away and just tossed several formation flags around them. He did so in order to prevent the enemy from escaping.
Thereafter, he aided his Spirit Beast Eland a bit to allow it to finish off the One-eyed Spider quickly.
Then he dissected all the 3 Spirit Beasts they killed on the side while the battle was ongoing to get their cores.
But to his surprise, the One-eyed Spider had a pair of eggs inside.
For years, he had killed perhaps already a few thousands of Spirit Beasts back in Kamaria Island, but this was only his second time to find offspring inside a Spirit Beast's belly.
Qai had no idea if the eggs would hatch on their own, but he nevertheless wanted the eggs for himself.
After branding them, he placed them inside his beast pouch and went back to see the progress of his team members.
When he appeared near, he saw the Devil Dao cultivator already dying on the floor begging for mercy.
Ji Wuheng noticed Qai’s arrival.
Ji Wuheng suddenly grinned and quickly took the opportunity to cut the enemy’s head off.
“Hah, who told you to offend our ‘lord’!”
