《Zao Ning. The Reincarnated Cultivating Dragon.》Chapter 24.1: The Meeting of the Strongest.

Seven suns shine brightly in the purple sky as a form made of smoke makes it back to its home.
Knowing that it is finally safe to show itself, the smoke becomes solid again and turns into a thin, pale man with pitch black eyes.
The man walks towards a castle that looms over all of the lands, showing off the power of the lord that owns it.
The castle is bigger than a mountain and seems to stretch endlessly into the sky. Stone dragons fly around the massive castle. When one roars, the air nearly tears and the land shakes violently.
The jade castle hums with power that threatens to destroy anyone who comes near it.
The person who owns all of this is the only person in written history to have reached the Immortal Realm.
Latias sits on their massive throne, conversing with 4 men who are undulating auras which are some of the most powerful in the universe.
The men wait eagerly for a certain someone to show up and give them the good news.
Soon, the man they are waiting for appears out of thin air, bowing in front of the 5 men.
The man on the farthest left who is wearing bright, golden armor is the first to speak up.
“So, what is the news demon?” the man says with disdain as he seems to have something against the demon race.
The demon known as Kalit shudders at the tone of the Never Realm cultivator.
“I-I-I found Lord Zaragnathor. He seems to be a human that has been named Zao Ning.”
The room becomes quite for a few moments and then the man on the left that spoke before begins laughing hysterically.
“That proud son of a bitch got reincarnated into a human?! What irony for someone who looked down on us humans. I, Washung Xiao would have never have seen this coming.”

The person next to Washung Xiao nods his head.
“You’re right, but this could be better than if he was reincarnated than anything else. He may have the slowest growth out of the other 5 but he has the most potential.”
The man to the right of Latias decides to put in his opinion.
“To be honest, that thing could be reincarnated as a squirrel and still have the most potential. His soul is so dense that even I cannot waver it. On top of that, he is the fastest existence to reach the Fiend Realm by 30 Realm Cycles. He was 5 Realm Cycles old, how is that even possible, not even Latias achieved that!”
The other two men join the conversation and soon a debate about how strong Zao Ning used to be emits into the room.
“Be quiet everyone, you’re giving me a headache.” a soothing voice says that causes everyone to shut their mouths in an instant.
Latias’s golden eyes shine brightly as her face is covered with a serious look. She is at the top of the realms and her word is law.
“Zaragnathor being turned into a human may be disastrous for us since he might not be able to get as strong as we need in the time we need him. It could also be a blessing since his potential could be limitless. Now Kalit..”
Latias’s gaze causes Kalit to shuddered and feel like his entire soul is being looked upon.
“Did you figure out who Zao Ning’s newest ancestors are?”
Kalit shudders for a second as he has been fearing this question ever since he made his journey back towards the Immortal Castle. Latias noticed this shudder and can feel another headache coming.
“Well, his father and their ancestors have been nothing but Cultivators in the Mortal Realm except for one who made it into the Spirit Realm. As for his mother, she is nothing but a lowly mortal harlot but for some reason, I can’t find out anything about her parents, let alone her ancestors.”

Everyone within the room was disappointed at first due to the bad news of Zao Ning’s body having no potential, but the last bit of news surprises them.
“The memory searching demon that is feared from the Fiend Realm down couldn’t find out anything about a simple mortal? That doesn’t seem right.” Someone on the right says while thinking about how strange that it.
Everyone goes quiet as they do not doubt the skills of Kalit and know that the demon would try his best or he would be slain on the spot.
Finally, an idea comes to the Immortal Cultivator Latias. An idea that is crazy and would probably change the balance of the eternal war that is going on at the moment between different universes.
“My magic causes whoever’s soul it is cast upon to go to the body that would give the soul the most potential. What if Zaragnathor, or Zao Ning as he is now called, was born not to a cultivator but a mage? Also, what if it is a high level mage?”
Everyone within the room becomes quiet as their hearts sink to the floor. The thought of having the soul of a dragon that was considered the next to enter the Never Realm and maybe even kill Latias herself in the future, while also having the body of a high level mage from the universe they are going to war with, doesn’t that seem too strong?
“Abominations have always been horrifying and some are even able to kill someone an entire realm above them, what if Zao Ning was one huh?” Washung Xiao says with a somber expression. He continues to share his thoughts with the whole room.
“Well then I’m afraid that neither universes will be able to survive the coming calamity that is Zao Ning. Hopefully we can convince him to be on our side before the Universe of the Wise can get ahold of him.”
Everyone nods their heads in agreement to this statement, losing out on of their top 3 most important pieces coming into the war would be a huge detriment and would most likely causes the Realm of Latias to lose.
“For now, all we can do is sit and wait. Knowing Zaragnathor, it won’t take him long until he is a power to be reckoned with everywhere. He first just needs to get rid of his mortal coils and set his soul free of its chains.”
Latias leaves off with this final remark before feeling an immense fatigue wash all over her. Being the only reason that a mass invasion hasn’t come upon her Realm is tiring and she wishes that the five reincarnated souls will become strong soon.

Saga of Fallen Kings, Book I: The Revenant Prince
The Philosopher King once conquered the known world, his power seemingly unlimited and his armies inexhaustible. Since that time his might has slowly unravelled, and his once steadfast empire has begun to crack, splinter and devour itself. In the isolated Southern Realms, where even magic has abandoned them, none of that matters. For years it has been filled with warring kingdoms, where as many kings die to the blade as to old age, and constant battles tear apart the land. When one such kingdom invades its old enemy, the King and his heir, Prince Caden, are killed. Unable to accept the loss of his family Prince Arian is broken, and when the Philosopher King stretches out his hand in aid, Arian takes it without a second thought. When Caden wakes from death, he's different. His eyes and soul have changed, and he finds a world filled with friends who no longer trust he's even human. Suddenly thrust onto the throne and indebted to the Philosopher King, Caden has no choice but to keep going - he must finish what his father started, and try to survive the machinations of the figure who now owns his fealty. Meanwhile something beyond death stirs for him, desiring nothing more than to drag him back into its embrace. Author's Note: This story used to be known as "A King of his Own", but after some consideration I have decided to rebrand it. The first reason is that I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the title. The second is that I have come increasingly to view this story as a 'saga' containing multiple 'books' rather than one long, continuous publication, and as I did so I realized that as I was quickly getting to a point in the story where I wanted the first 'book' to end. This doesn't mean I'm going back on the things I said below - they're just going to continue in the next book of the Saga of Fallen Kings. :) Also, be aware that I do plan to edit this at some point. Though I take care to squash out any obvious errors when I proof-read, and do simple edits in that process, at some point I'm almost certainly going to do large edits that might significantly change parts of the story. Old author's notes: This started as a completely random writing session. There was no purpose or direction, but as I kept typing an entire world began to form in my mind that I knew I had to write about. My plan is to turn this story into a veritable medieval fantasy epic that spans an entire world, follows multiple character and storylines, and takes place over many years. The story has quite a grounded, almost 'realistic' start, but many more fantastical elements will be introduced, expanded upon and become central to the narrative. I have ideas for this story that make me genuinely excited and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy writing it, and join me on what will hopefully become a truly massive fantasy epic. If you do enjoy this story please consider following, rating and leaving a review. I'm also happy to answer any questions or comments you have.
