《Zao Ning. The Reincarnated Cultivating Dragon.》Chapter 13: Giving a Tiger wings

Chan walks down the hill towards the ball of flames that was once the Zao Ning estate. Holding Grand Elder Chi's sword in his left hand, Chan can't help but feel that his master's way of thinking is not the safest route to pull out Zao Ning's potential.
'I know myself that Zao Ning is a monster in a child's body as I saw him face his father nearly to the death and come out unscathed. I don't know what profound methods he uses but obviously Zao Ning is above the 5th Mortal Realm in terms of power. This sword might even make him close to me in power...'
Chan shivers when thinking about the speed and growth of Zao Ning. Chan has never seen someone barely be over a year old and be able to kill Peak 5th Mortal Realms.
One has to realize that people Zao Ning's age are barely supposed to be walking, and 5th Mortal Realm is usually achieved around the age of 35 for the average mortal.
While thinking of Zao Ning and how scary the kid can be, Chan comes close to the ball of flames as cultivators run around in panic and anger.
"Who dares attack Heaven's Pavilion?" "Is it the Dark Moon Sect?" "Look for survivors and the injured!" "WE ARE ALL GONNA DIIIEEEEE!" "PROTECT THE ELDERLY!"
Most people are just angry about the attack and are gathered around the fire, trying to put it out but there seems to be some thinking the apocalypse is coming.
Why you ask? I never said you had to be smart to get into Heaven's Pavilion.
Chan searches with his spirit and soon finds a huge disturbance of Lightning Ki. Only knowing one cultivator who could cause this disturbance in Lightning Ki, Chan rushes over to see Zao Ning with his mother, who trying to get close to him.
"Baby Zao, it is okay. We can get a new house. Calm down!" Wei Ning yells pleadingly. Zao continues to grind his teeth with the inferno of his estate reflecting in his eyes.
Chan sees the Lightning Ki rushing into Zao's body and can't help but be astonished. Chan has never see Ki react like this in his and is mesmerized of the marvelous sight of something being so efficient in manipulating Ki.
"Master Zao!" Chan yells out towards Zao to get his attention.
Zao's body shakes for a second and he slowly turns towards Chan. Zao's dark blue eyes turn into the sizes of pinpoints when he sees Chan.
A large wave of deadly aura surges over Chan's body, causing the 6th Mortal Realm butler to sweat intensely under the gaze of Zao Ning. The anger inside of Zao Ning pierces Chan's soul and Chan's instinct tell him to run away as far as possible, that there is a primordial beast staring him down like Chan is prey.
Chan drops down on one knee and bows to Zao.
"Master Zao, I see you and Miss Wei are okay, I am relieved-."
"Why aren't you dead?"
...
Chan's heart drops to the bottom of his chest.
'What kind of question is that?' Chan yells in his mind.

"I don't understand what you're asking master?"
"You were in the estate, you should have exploded with the estate."
Zao speaks in a cold zone and continues to stare at Chan with pure hatred.
"Master. I sensed something was wrong and left the es-!"
"THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU WARN ME OR MY MOTHER YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT!"
KACHA~!
Zao roars and vanishes, only reappearing in front of Chan with a loud clap of thunder echoing throughout the whole sect. Chan falls over on his ass and whimpers under the pressure Zao exerts.
"I'm sorry m-ma-master! I thought I could go invest-!"
"Enough excuses! Where is my master at? I know he owns you so you should know!"
Even though Chan is a whole Mortal Realm above Zao, he is cowering in front of the infuriated boy. Chan winces at every word Zao speaks as it contains a profound knowledge of lightning intent inside of it.
"Grand Elder Chi is on a mission ri-right now!"
Zao narrows his eyes.
These bastards think they can just play me like a fiddle huh? I thought the Heaven's Pavilion raised heroes! Maybe it's just this sect that's bad though. It seems like it with an Elder attacking someone much weaker than him and the Grand Elder TRYING TO KILL HIS DISCIPLE!
Zao roars in anger in his head. He has always been suspicious of how his master appointed several high end Mortal Realm maids and butlers to Zao's side. When there was no one in the mansion right before it exploded, especially Chan being in there just minutes ago was even more incriminating to Grand Elder Chi.
When Zao found Chan alive and knew that Chan didn't inform him of the danger even though Chan escaped it, Zao knew there could be 2 things going on. 1, Chan was a spineless whimp that ran away when he sensed danger, or Grand Elder Chi was using a very unethical yet effective way at creating monstrous protegees.
You wanna push me to the edge huh, so I grow faster? Well Grand Elder Chi, I was killing people like you before your ancestors even fucking existed! Don't think I can't see through this shit!
"Where am I going to stay now?" Zao asks with a cold voice.
"Master just sent me a message saying to stay at his estate, and he will find whoever did this to you! He will also help you cultivate to get revenge when he returns!" Chan says hurriedly to pull the suspicion off himself. Zao Ning smiles and nods for a second.
"Don't worry, the person who did this will receive my wrath very soon." Zao says aloud.
And they will even help me in my path for revenge.
"Lead us to master's estate, my mother is hungry and I'm in a very foul mood now."
Zao finally releases the Lightning Ki storing up in his body and also stops absorbing it from the surrounding air. Chan lets out a breath of relief and wipes the sweat from his forehead. Zao Ning waves to his mother and she clumsily runs over to her son's side.
"Stick by my side mother, someone is after our lives." Zao Ning says and then gives a firm gaze to Wei Ning.

"Ok, are you calmed down now?" Wei Ning asks with a bit of worry.
"Yes, yes. Do not fret over me." Zao waves his hand back and forth.
Chan shakingly get ups and feels like a deer being stared at by a hungry tiger. The strength of Zao's soul is still at the Fiend Level so he is very effective at using it to shake the souls of anyone under the Earth Realm even though he is only at the Mortal Realm.
Chan leads the Ning duo to Grand Elder Chi's estate. The estate is ten times larger than Zao and Grand Elder Chi has hundreds of servants running all over the place, doing different chores. Usually Zao would be uncaring about the wealth of people below the Star Realm but right now his eyes are full of mockery and disdain.
The poor and weak human thinks he can make a fool out of me. Let's see what he says when I murder him and burn this place to the ground.
Chan can still sense Zao's anger and tries to take the Ning's to their rooms as fast as possible to get away from Zao.
Finally arriving to their room, Zao's room and is right beside his mother's and their rooms are almost exactly the same as before. Zao goes into his room and turns around to look at Chan.
"Did you at least save the stolen items from my father's castle?"
"Yes master."
"Then what are you waiting for, give them to me."
Chan takes off a ring and tosses it over to Zao Ning. Zao catches the ring with a single hand before giving Chan one last glance and walking into his room.
"One last thing master. Grand Elder Chi told me to give you a Ki weapon and it is with the loot of from Lord Fan's castle." Chan, having finished his duties, hurriedly speed walks away from Zao's room, not turning back in fear of Zao becoming suspicious.
Zao snorts at Chan as the man is a whole Mortal Realm above Zao and yet, is so spineless. Zao puts on the pocket dimension. Zao's eyes light up when he sees the treasures inside.
So many cultivated resources, apparently my father was planning to break through to the 6th Mortal Realm soon and even try to advance to middle level 7th Mortal Realm after that...
Zao licks his lips when seeing the resources and when searching through the items, a bland looking long sword catches Zao's attention. Zao pulls out the sword and it is nearly as long as Zao's body. Zao unsheathes the sword and the long blade looks even more bland than the sheathe.
Small undulations of power radiate within the sword.
What kind of piece of trash is this? I'd be surprised if I could use it to cut my hair.
Zao waves the sword around in the air and then Zao senses something. Even though the blade is blunt, it has a surprising effect.
It seems to cut through Ki like it is nothing... Interesting, but that's not its main use.
When Ki is put into the sword, nothing happens. Most Ki Weapons will react with the Ki and enhance it, being a catalyst for the Ki to grow stronger and have a strong output for offense and defense. This sword on the other hand is an irregular.
Irregular's are extremely rare and even though this one is only at the Mortal Realm, it has some serious potential.
Zao Ning used to collect everything he saw for fun so he had a hefty amount of rare items in his time as a dragon. Looking at the sword, Zao thinks it is a Ki Reflector, not a Ki Enhancer like most Ki Weapons.
Instead of sending his Ki into the sword, using his insane ability to manipulate Ki, Zao decides to shoot the Ki through the sword.
Pointing the weapon out a window in his room, Zao shoots his Lightning Ki into the hilt of the sword and then directs it to shoot out the tip as fast as possible.
As the Ki reached the blade part of the sword, the Lightning Ki became much more compact and gained speed as it traveled through the blade.
The Lightning Ki inside of the metal bounced of the edges of the sword like light with mirrors, causing the Lightning Ki to reach unthinkable speeds.
Reaching the tip of the sword, the Lightning Ki shoots out and travels towards the night sky at mind boggling speeds.
Surprisingly, it barely made a sound as well.
Zao's face twists into a crooked smile as his theory was correct.
Most people just insert Ki and leave it in the hilt but I know how weapons like these work. I doubt even Grand Elder Chi figured out its true function. The metal on the outside of the blade is just a coating that is amazing for reflecting Ki. As for the inside metal, it enhances Ki to an extreme for even Mortal Realm weapons.
Basically, the sword is made of two metals. The metal that is the structure of the sword on the inside enhances Ki and the coating metal on the outside reflects it.
The direct tip of the sword does not have the coating on it, letting the Ki stored inside bounce back and forth, gain speed, and finally be shot out of the sword.
Only someone who has high level of understanding with Ki Weapons would realize this.
To be honest, Grand Elder Chi did not know about the weapons true function and just used the sword to cut through Ki attacks. He never stabbed at Ki attacks though as the Ki would be able to go through the tip of the sword since it is not coated in the Ki reflecting metal.
Zao smile reaches a maximum as the one who is pushing him to the edge is the one also helping Zao be able to kill him.
Giving me this sword is like giving a tiger wings. I am many times more powerful now. He also plans to help me cultivate.... Oooohhh Grand Elder Chi, your death will soon come.

Demon Blade
Ryuken is your average 15-year old high schooler, living his life in an ordinary way, until he comes across a mysterious katana and is pulled into the world of unbelievable supernatural. An anime-inspired passion project of mine, sparked from my childhood love of shounen anime. I have big plans for this world but we'll see if I get to stick around long enough to finish it.Enjoy! Notes: 1. My writing style is mostly script-like with some 3rd person-ish narrative sprinkled in, and it is VERY dialogue-heavy. 2. It can be pretty slow, as I tend to focus more on characters rather than action. 3. Since the story is set in Japan with Japanese characters, I will be using Japanese honorifics whenever the characters are interacting with each other. To learn more about Japanese Honorifics, you can go to this website here. I apologize if I used them wrongly, or if I forgot to use them from time to time, or if it turns you off. 4. I don't have a fixed release schedule as I don't have time to write regularly at the moment. I may update tomorrow or next year. Who knows. I'm like your dad who's gone to the store for some milk. I'll be back. Cover Source
